We went once in person which the portion of each dish is extremely small for the price they are asking ( Mao Cai is 18 dollars for covering 1/3 of a bowel), we liked the flavor so we re-ordered to-go with the family size (22 dollars), still extremely small, not much difference from the smaller size. On top of that, the beef is so stinky and hard to chew. With the price they are charging, not that good in flavor, you are better off ordering from another restaurant!

Royal Highness has nice food and absolutely delicious fries -- definitely a must-try! The ambiance is great, and the service is awesome, which makes the experience enjoyable. Overall good, though the food itself could be better for a higher rating.

I came here after going to the Lincoln Park Conservancy. We got the Chicken Wontons and Spicy Beef Noodles. The Chicken wontons were alright, nothing special. The broth was starchy, I'm assuming from the wontons. The spicy beef noodles, on the other hand, were good! They had a slight mala taste, the beef was tender and lean, and the noodles were tasty and filling! The broth was a bit too oily and salty, but it's up to personal preference. I would say this would satisfy any Chinese noodles craving if you are in the area. Service was amazing. You order through a QR code and the waiter was very attentive and quick. The interior of the restaurant was cute and clean!! I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant.

Not much to say beyond great food with big flavors. You can get something really spicy and numbing, or something mild like the chicken noodle soup, or anything in between. The fries are underrated and delicious. The sweet water noodles are SOOOOO good!!! Only weird thing is that several dishes are marked vegan on their menu when they clearly aren't, like the chicken noodle soup.

My daughter showed me this restaurant! Amazing recommendation, reminds me of my trip to China! Not disappointed at all, authentic food that tastes delicious and is perfectly spicy Great food, nice ambiance, perfect to sit down and catch up while enjoying a meal

Authentic. Chinese. Street. Food!!! Here you can indulge in the flavors of food from ChenDu, which is the capital of Sichuan, in China! The spices and flavors in the dishes are so tasty. Here's what I tried: Tempting Bon Bon Chicken Fiery Spicy Fries Delights Hot & Sour Fern Root Noodles Wholesome Wonton Chicken Soup Single Choice Hot Pot w/imitation crab meat Three Cannons ChengDu Osmanthus Cake Mango Soda Drink 芒果少女心 The Bon Bon Chicken was my favorite! It was so many flavors at once with the chili oil, soy sauce, slight sweetness and sesame oil. The Wonton chicken soup is so warm and comforting and the dumplings are made in house. I love how airy and modern the space is; there is room for big groups - which I really like. Put them on your list to visit and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!

Overall Thoughts: The food here tasted good with traditional Chengdu spices and flavors, but the total was quite pricey considering the smaller portion sizes. Also, as someone with only a so-so spice tolerance, I found the flavors overall quite mild (maybe that was just for the specific dishes we ordered, though). The interior is decorated nicely-- very minimalist, sleek, and modern. The online ordering system they have is a little confusing and sometimes glitches out if you're ordering with a group, but everything went smoothly in the end. Overall, despite the higher prices, I'd be happy to come to RHZ again with a large group of people to try out more dishes on their menu, or even stop by their other take-out only location in Bridgeport (called 大毛家). Food I tried: - Fiery Spicy Fries (4.2/5): These were quite flavorful with a decent kick to them, but weren't as crispy as I would've hoped. - Signature Spicy Beef Noodles (4.2/5): This was solid, and has all the traditional hearty, umami flavors of Chinese beef noodle soup. - Glass Noodle Hot Pot (4.1/5): Not as spicy as I would've hoped but still a solid dish, especially for vegetarians. It was pretty monotone / undiversified though, as it's mainly just glass noodles. - Vegetable Symphony Hot Pot (4.2/5): I liked this hot pot option better than the glass noodles, as it was more varied in textures and ingredients. - Firecracker Pig Trotters (4.7/5): Probably my favorite dish out of everything we ordered. The feet were remarkably tender and flavorful, filled with delicious collagen. - Wonton in Volcano Broth (4.3/5): I liked this dish too; the wontons tasted fresh and the soup was flavorful and slightly sweet. However, I wished the wontons were bigger-- the skin-to-filling ratio was off. - Glutinous rice cake with brown sugar (4.2/5): Pricey for the fact that it only came with 3 and were pretty small, but they tasted good-- sweet and crispy. -- Price (relative to peers): 4/5 Food: 4.2/5 Ambience: 4.8/5 Service: 4.4/5 Overall Value: 4.2/5

I was really looking forward to trying Royal Highness Zhu. I will say that the food was alright. It seemed like some of the dishes like the vegetable hot pot was not cooked all the way through and the sizzle sausage fried rice did not have any sausage in it. That is really disappointing. I will say the best dish I had was the zhong dumplings. The taste was really on point. I did make a reservation and the male server/ host was really rude and did not accept my reservation. That same male server told me that he was too busy too for a few requests we had. I am not sure if it was me but, he just seemed very rude. I will say the ambiance or atmosphere was really nice. I will say give royal highness zhu a chance and for sure ask someone how to order as the menu system was kind of strange to me.

Three words to describe the experience: Incredible. Peaceful. Mouth-watering. If I could give 6 stars, I would. From the moment we walked in, we were transported to what feels like a sanctuary for indescribably delicious food. The calming music is the first thing to set the tone and carry the peaceful atmosphere throughout our meal. The decor was beautiful, and they even have a counter full of cute food-related decor (a Lego ramen bowl! Realistic fake food!). It was clean and classy with personality. We were seated immediately, and directed to the Chowbus QR code to view the menu and order on our phones. I love it when restaurants use Chowbus! When each person scans the code, they can add stuff to the same tab from each of their phones. We put in our order and it promptly arrived. The food was DELICIOUS. - Zhengdu Handmade Zhong Dumplings. INCREDIBLE. Coating a delicate dumpling skin wrapped around juicy ground meat, the sweet and savory sauce was so addicting. - Chengdu Bok Choy in Chicken Soup. Subtle but present flavor and a great way to refresh the palate between saucy dishes. Definitely recommend! - Chengdu House SpareRibs. A FLAVOR BOMB. it is amazing to eat with a side of white rice. I can't even describe how flavorful it is. The sauce is sticky and coats your tongue as you chew. I like the small chopped size of these ribs which makes it easy to eat. Highlyyyyyy recommend this place!! Can't wait to come back and take my friends!

If you love anything and everything with chili oil, this is the place for you! Absolutely delish Chengdu style Chinese street food! Common flavors among the dishes here are spicy, sour, and tangy. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and clean inside. Staff was kind and attentive. We ordered a bunch of dishes for my party of 7 and everything came out pretty fast! Not to mention, the prices here are pretty affordable! I would definitely recommend the dumplings, wontons, and the noodle soup(s) from here! Those were my favorite. Everything was just so flavorful - colorful and vibrant in its presentation as well. The most interesting thing I ate was the heart-broken jelly. The jelly didn't really have much flavor unless soaked in the chili oil. My favorite dessert was the 3 cannons. The brown sugar sauce really ties the whole dessert together. It's made of sticky rice with a crunchy outer layer. Also their to-go packaging is the cutest and worth keeping!

I went to Da Mao Jia in Bridgeport for the first time not too long ago, but unfortunately they were doing take out only. They did mention that this location had dine-in, though, so I had to come! Here's what we ordered: - heart broken bean jelly - 5/5 - SO good. This was my favorite. Their homemade chili oil is tasty - chengdu bean curd - 3/5 - I'm generally not a huge fan of the smoky flavor of this dish, but if you enjoy 豆腐花/this type of bean curd, this is pretty solid. Be warned: the soybeans in it are extremely crunchy - tomato noodle soup with beef - 4/5 - good, but not as flavorful compared to the chili oil in the bean jelly. Would definitely get the spicy version next time. - water jelly cake with black sugar - 4/5 - came for free with Yelp check-in! This was interesting and pretty good. Only complaint is that it's quite sweet. I'd also ask them to hold the peanuts next time. The interior is nice and spacious. Ordering via phone or kiosk is very smooth. Service was friendly. Very surprising that this place was pretty empty at 5pm on a Saturday. Will definitely be back!

Super cute interior. Kind of a random mish mosh of things but entertaining to look at nonetheless. Music was too quiet, but that's my only "criticism". Food was SOOO good. Saw this restaurant from an Instagram influencer raving about the chewy noodles, which did NOT disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious. Spicy beef noodle soup though was definitely the star, from the perfectly bouncy noodles to the savory broth with a nice amount of spice. Ordering was really easy through the QR code provided and service was fast and top tier. They also had the cutest to go bags and boxes. Would definitely come here again, just for the noodles!

Amazing spot for Chinese food near DuPaul. My friend and I stopped by and we ordered a bunch of various items off the menu. The portion sizes particularly for the Tomato Noodles with Fried Egg and the Wontons were huge! The highlight of the meal for me would be either the hand pulled noodles with peanut sauce or the Bon Bon Chicken. The chicken is served cold with lots of chili seasoning and paired perfectly with a side of white rice. The hand pulled noodles were perfectly soft, and the sauce was incredible as well. The root noodles were also great, and had the taste of cucumber salad. The Duck Wing was also fantastic and served cold. The meat is tougher than I expected, but a great side dish. You scan a QR code at the table to order and the service was extremely fast. We got way too much food and ended up paying around $70 total. There is also a kiosk where you can order to go making for a quick and easy dining experience!

I was really…read morecraving some good Chinese food but did not want to go into downtown first to pick up and then head back home so I looked this place up and had decent reviews and decided to try it out. What really impressed me was they had a specific section of the menu which was titled "Salt and Pepper". Of course I was super excited to try the salt and pepper tofu so here's what we got: - we got the salt and pepper tofu - we got the American garlic broccoli - got the mala lamb. - Got a pair of complimentary vegetarian spring rolls. When I went to pick up the take-out order, I was shocked at how heavy it was. This was clearly a lot of food. I'll start with the lamb. Very well thought out packaging, to be straight. Because the lamb had a lot of oil and liquid in it, they put it in a plastic container, which they knew is going to leak. They put that entire container in a separate tiny plastic bag and wrapped it so that the juices from that would not come all over in the main bag. Really appreciate that. Now the lamb, while cooked okay, the flavor was just, you know, it did not do it for me. Add to that they really kept the lamb as relatively big pieces. They were thinly sliced but they were just large pieces. They could have been smaller for it to be easier to eat. Flavor-wise there was just too much black pepper, which is what I was expecting, but to match that there was no flavor as such. The salt and pepper tofu was a disaster. I got it from other places. The flavor just was not doing it. It was not crispy at all. Yes I have them take out salt and pepper tofu from many other places. It does leave its crunchiness to some extent. This one had zero crunch. In fact it was weird. Every piece that was stuck to the next one had something gooey on it. Just overall the flavor was very underwhelming. The American garlic broccoli was overcooked to the extent it did not have the firmness one would expect and was overcooked to the extent where some of the smaller pieces just disintegrated. The spring roll is wild. The casing was phenomenal. It was perfect for a spring roll even after opening it after one hour. Really appreciate that. The filling, however, there really weren't many vegetables in it at all. That was very disappointing. Overall I don't think I am going to grab food from here again. The reason they get the 3.5 stars, though, is they did a phenomenal job on the packaging of all the food. The quantity was well beyond what I expected. The food, however, I have to say, was a disaster. And maybe this is my taste. It may be it's a bit too Americanized and I have not been used to eating very Americanized Chinese food for the last many years. That might be the problem.

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive.
