I ordered food online from their website. It was easy to place an order and the food was ready to pick up when I got there. But that's where the good things end with this restaurant. I ordered a Butter Chicken and a Chicken Curry along with some Garlic Naan, some Poori and an order of Gulab Jamun and Gajar Halwa. Butter Chicken: Terrible. 1/5. The dish was too buttery and so very bland. The chicken was obviously not marinated in the gravy as the chicken pieces didn't have any flavor on them. The chicken was also burnt and VERY chewy. Some of the worst I've ever had. Chicken Curry: Okay. 3/5. This dish was better than the Butter Chicken but that's not a high bar to clear. It had plenty of flavor in the curry but the chicken pieces were again terrible and not cooked well. Garlic Naan: Bad. 2/5. The Naan was soooo chewy and so hard to eat. Not cooked well. And it didn't have the garlic flavor to it. Poori: Inedible. 0/5. I don't know who taught them to make Poori but that wasn't a Poori. It was DRIPPING with oil and al flaky. For $5, it was a complete waste of money. DO NOT ORDER. Gajar Halwa: Terrible. 1/5. The halwa had gone bad!!! It was starting to sour and they just gave it to me! It could have been good if it was fresh. Couldn't finish it. Gulab Jamun: Okay. 3/5. Not coming back to this place as long as they don't make some changes. I'm an Indian and this is terrible Indian food. Edit: After I posted my review, the owner of the business called it fake. So here's my receipt of my order as proof of purchase. I have no need nor inclination to post fake reviews. This is for everyone to read and judge for themselves. And not being able to take criticism doesn't bode well for a restaurant. And the reason I didn't bring the food back is because it was a to-go order and I live in Davis.

I have been here 3 times in a span of three weeks. The food and service was amazing. I also really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. I highly recommend eating here! The Gol Gappa was my favorite!

Amazing local spot. After 5 years of waiting for it to become a separate business from the retail shop next door. The owner has now opened up for business. Had to try it out, great menu lots of choices we went in expecting an okay place but the service, atmosphere, and flavors of northern India cuisine is delicious. Spoke with the owner while paying the bill. And he said he just opened back up after two months of separation of the business next door, which makes him happy. If you love Indian food please support them. We are definitely going back to try other dishes.

Basmati rice- tasty and enough for two people

Place is small but quaint. Staff was super friendly and helpful when ordering and very attentive. Chicken tikka masala- my go to dish when trying a new Indian restaurant and the flavors did not disappoint. It was creamy and well spiced. They used tandoori chicken which added extra flavor 10/10 my bad for asking for med spice should have gone higher but now I know for next time. Basmati rice- although it is a basic rice it complemented the rest of the dishes and was great for absorbing the yummy sauce Garlic naan- it was a little sweeter than I am used to but it was still tasty and definitely hit the spot Vegi Manchurian- these are veggie balls battered and fried in a sweet and sour chutney like sauce with onions 10/10 if you like sweet and sour Mango Lassi- perfectly sweet and creamy 10/10 Overall food was fresh tasting well spiced and we will definitely be returning!

Do they use sugar in their Tikka masala curry?

Hello, no we do not. The 🍅 tomatoes purée & heavy cream tends to mimic little sweetness but no there is no added sugar in tikka masala curry.

    Is the meat halal?

Yes it is. We only buy Halal products. We are in the process of getting the Halal certification and once we obtain it, we will have the sign up for Halal meat.

My friend from El Cerrito has been coming here for years and took me to eat dinner here but now a new owner has expanded the restaurant space and upgraded the ambiance. The owner greeted us and the service was top tier, friendly, fast and provided all that we asked for, which of course included some mango chutney. My friend had the Pakora dish with chickpeas and was very tasty and fresh. I had the chicken tandoori which has a Smokey tang to them and the jasmine rice and sauces were all excellent. My chicken was moist and juicy and came out steaming on a hot platter. The serving sizes were generous and the price was very reasonable. The owner offered some tasting of Free Kittens beer and it was also delicious and we ordered some. The beer selection is second to none and had my favorite oatmeal stout ! It was quiet and seating was comfortable. I had leftovers as there was so much to eat despite being hungry from moving furniture all day. I went with some co workers for lunch and we shared what we individually ordered amongst ourselves because it was our first time getting Nepali food. When we arrived, there was no one at the front. Mind you, we came in 30 mins after opening for lunch. We rang the bell multiple times and then as we were about to go to a different place, thinking there was no one around, the cook came out and took our orders. I could tell he was a but overwhelmed since we were a group of 5, but he was really nice and courteous. He also answered the questions we had concerning the food. It took about 40 - 50 mins for our food to get in. We were the only ones in the restaurant so I'm surprised it took the long. That being said, i realized there was only one cook in the kitchen to it makes sense why it took so long however, I was not mentally prepared to wait that long. Around 12 pm, the hostess came in and was shocked to see us. She apologized for being late and wanted to get our orders but we told her the cook already got them. After waiting for about 50 mins, we finally got our orders. The food was AMAZING. Starting with the chicken sekuwa. It was a complete 10/10. I would definitely come back just for this. It was seasoned to perfection, very tender and juicy. The C Momo was very crispy and covered in a nice sweet chilli sauce. They're like deep fried dumplings. I would give it an 8/10. The lamb curry was very savory and filling. We got that with some rice and roti. It paired very well. I would also rate that an 8/10. The lamb thali was good but I think I was overwhelmed with everything on the plate. It was not bad, the lamb and lentil soup were good but I think I did not know how best to eat it so I could not fully appreciate it. I would give it a 6.5 The thai iced tea was pretty standard one. Very nice and not too sweet. 8/10 for ne The food here was pretty remarkable. I usually don't care about 'bad' service but this one really had a huge impact and stopped me from giving it a higher rating. I would not be too keen on coming back here with how understaffed they are but I do understand. If you're not in a rush, and are ready to grow your fruit of patience, I would definitely say the food is worth the wait and it was really good.

It's small outlet with about three tables (seating about 15-ish?). We walked up to the counter and placed an order for the Chaat (paapdi) and Samosa chaat. The paapdi chaat was pretty decent with the crunchy namkeen discs holding up layers of diced potatoes, masala, yogurt, sweet chutney, and chickpeas. Personally, I preferred the samosa chaat. The samosas stayed crispy inspite of the layers of chutney and warm channa masala heaped on top. All in all both the dishes were pretty nice. The confusing part is the paucity of chaat items on the menu. The establishment literally has "chaat" in it's name but you will find only three items under the "Chaat" subsection of the menu; the menu was dominated by lunch/dinner items. I did spy an "Aloo tikki" dish in the menu, I do wonder if it's served as an appetizer instead of as a "chaat". I wish them well and hope they get better with time, and hopefully with more chaat items on the menu.

I've had it before, but I don't remember it being chilled on the inside, but what I do like about it what is that? It has a crispy shell when you bite into it. The veggie samosas were my favorites.
