DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! Coolant pump went out at 79.8K miles, and was promised on the phone that I qualified for an extended warranty. Pulled in for the repair a few weeks later (their earliest availability) and was told the warranty expired at 80K, so I no longer qualify. This was NOT previously communicated. I've been going here for YEARS, and now they're screwing me on a technicality that'll cost me ~$2,000. Mind you, this extended warranty is mandated through a class-action lawsuit because VW messed up the pumps in all vehicles from 2014 to 2021. IT'S LITERALLY THEIR FAULT. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I calmly asked for a goodwill, their senior supervisor was cold and inconsiderate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Calling their customer service line was just as useless.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They're completely unwilling to help long-time customers, overcharge at ridiculous amounts and use manipulative tactics to squeeze every single last penny out of anyone willing to walk through their door. Having an electric car is great but the ID.4 is so full of unnecessary features and software bugs that it's painful. For instance: - The car demands a visit to VW service every 10k miles. It will flash messages reminding you constantly. These messages can only be turned off at the dealer. - When you turn on the car, randomly the car will decide the AC or radio needs to be turned up to the max. You can't turn them down until the car fully boots up. - When you take the car into the service center, they try to upsell and overcharge you on everything. $80 for windshield wipers... really? - If you look over your shoulder while backing up, it will register the driver's seat as empty and turn off the car. The list goes on. None of especially terrible, but since it's impossible to reach the service people and since they way overcharge you, then it's really not worth dealing with them. read more

Exercise extreme caution with this dealership when shopping for a used car. They attempted to switch the vehicle I selected with another car of the same color but with significantly higher mileage, then tried to entice me with a lower price as if nothing was wrong. I only caught the switch at the last minute before signing the paperwork. When confronted, they brushed it off as an "honest mistake" and even tried to shift the blame onto me, claiming the confusion was on my end. Always double‑check--and triple‑check--the VIN on every document. They also attempted to run a credit check on what was supposed to be a cash purchase and were unable to give any legitimate explanation for why that was necessary. Be extremely vigilant with every step of the process at this dealership. Review every document, proposal, and detail with a fine‑tooth comb. Their behavior made it clear they were willing to manipulate the process to hit their numbers. read more

I recently went in to service and was passed around and checked multiple times with different people before I could begin the drop off process of my vehicle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]People were nice until I talked to Jenna, an honest question was asked about how a diagnostic check would be billed and carried out and she immediately was rude, and passive aggressive when we asked for further explanation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Later I had not heard from service and needed my car for work so I decided to call in and ask. It was Jenna who picked up the phone and I was asking if my car had been looked at or currently was. Her response was short and very vague and did not answer my question, I asked for clarification on what she was meaning and she began to be very rude and talk over me on the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After she had finally answered my question I felt very mistreated, unheard, and small. The manner that she spoke to me was very upsetting and I ended up taking my car without knowing what was wrong because I could not stand to interact with others that I feel has not treated me with respect. TLDR: This is the worst of the worst dealership. Whatever you do do not go to this dealership to service your car. Any random person on the street can probably fix a car better than their "Master Technicians" I bought a 2024 VW GLI in PA early 2024. In May I got a check engine light. I was in Oregon for the summer so I took it to another Oregon dealership. They checked the car and told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Two weeks later the CEL came on again and I took it to Herzog-Meier. After keeping my car for two days, they told me that the CEL is because I was putting in 92 rated fuel instead of the 87 I was supposed to, even though the GLI needs 92 to reach the marketed HP and torque numbers. They then told me to buy this fuel additive and cycle the car on 87 for ten tanks. They also charged me $240 (Almost $300 with the additive) for their "service" even though my brand new car was fully under warranty. When I pointed out that the manual of the GLI literally instructs owners to put in premium grade fuel, the service manager simply told me "The manuals are not trim specific". I did exactly what they told me and drove the car back to PA. CEL came on again and I took it to my home dealership. Long and behold, they told me that the CEL had NOTHING to do with the fuel all along and it was due to a software issue in the ECM. So, out of the three dealerships I went to try to resolve this CEL: The other Oregon dealership: Couldn't figure it out but didn't charge me Herzog-Meier: Couldn't figure out what was wrong, refused to honor my warranty, charged me service fees anyways, and tried to gaslight me into believing that higher octane fuel can cause damage. PA dealership: Actually figured out what's wrong and didn't charge me anything under warranty You've been warned, people. read more

BEWARE OF BUYING VEHICLES FROM HERZOG-MEIER DEALERSHIPS!! I purchased a VW Golf GTI, actually a little more than a year ago from this dealership and finally getting around to let people know how lousy their service department is and their inability to provide even a modicum of satisfactory service. Upon purchasing the brand new vehicle I noticed a rattle emanating from somewhere on the left side of the dash. I was told it would be fixed before actually picking up the car later that day. It wasn't. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then made an appointment to have it looked at which took more than 10 days to obtain.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After a week of sitting at the dealership still no action had been taken with the reason being given that they were short on qualified personnel. Finally after more than two weeks I was able to pick up the car and was told the rattle had been fixed on right side of the dash. However, there was no rattle on that side of the vehicle and the original rattle was still present. This led to my making a complaint to the service manager, a woman who soon left the company. I made a new appointment and still no action had been taken after more than two weeks at the dealership. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was given a loaner, to be expected, under the circumstances, but I missed driving the vehicle I purchased.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I complained to Mr. Meier (I believe he is the owner or president of the corporation which owns the dealerships). He was apologetic, but no more helpful than paying lip service and complaining about the lack of qualified service personnel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The car sat for a few more days without action being taken and I was informed by the new service manager, an insolent, abrasive and discourteous gentleman, that I can come and pick up the car as Herzog-Meier would cease doing business with me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I n over 50 years of driving, this was an unbelievable reaction unworthy of a dealership of any type of vehicle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On complaining to VW corporate I was met with a sympathetic voice, but no solution as I was told that the dealerships were independent businesses over which VW has little control.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Essentially upon having no choice I decided to take my business to Dick Hannah the other VW dealer in the Portland, OR area. I was given an appointment within two days and the rattle was fixed the same day, actually within 4 hours. Because they did not have a loaner available, I was driven to and from my business more than 15 miles from the dealership at no cost. Mr. Meier should be ashamed of himself for his poor hiring decisions as well as the behavior of his service manager. The service manager obviously has no shame. Since then I have spoken to a number of colleagues and friends who have had poor experiences with this dealership. I reiterate: BEARE OF BUYING FROM HERZOG-MEIER DEALERSHIPS! Brought my vehicle in late last week for an express service before a road trip. Saturday the check-engine light came on. I was due to leave first thing Sunday morning. I arrived at the dealer early Monday morning to have a tech do a quick diagnostic. I had a very disturbing experience with their Service Department. I had an appointment for a regular maintenance visit, and when I made the appointment I asked the estimated cost---just under $800. When I arrived and double-checked the estimate, I was told the cost would be about $1300. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked why and was told the guy who gave me the estimate made an error. There was no apology, no dealing with the mistake.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]While I suspect this was an honest mistake I couldn't believe there wasn't any acknowledgement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I balked, the service agent asked if I wanted to proceed and I said, "no". We tried out a couple of different versions, and he walked us through a lot of the features with good tips and tricks. Our old car was a 2010 Elantra w/not many frills, so it was a massive leap in technology and we really needed the guidance. We came pre-approved from our credit union and the whole process once we decided to purchase was pretty easy and seamless. Everyone stayed late to complete the paperwork. The vehicle was only at 18% charge, so we left it overnight and picked it up later the next day. Mathew has been good about following up and seeing how things are going. Brought ID4 in for door handle issue recall, they said it didn't qualify because previous owner missed the cutoff date. Paid to fix the issue (passing on all the upselling they tried in the meantime), it happened again, brought it back. When it happened again took it to another dealer on the east side of town much closer to home who said the part was fine but it was installed wrong so unfortunately they'd have to charge labor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Called Herzog-Meier back. I cannot recommend this dealership. Last year (2024) I went in because I was interested in the ID4. The salesman told me that they had a top of the line model from the prior year. We agreed upon the price and I bought the car. In the following month, as I was exploring the car, I noticed that the sideview mirrors didn't automatically fold in and that the camera system was limited. I went into the dealership to inquire about that and they explained that the window sticker noted credits for both of those items. The salesman completely failed to tell me about this and played me for a sucker. Shame on me. A year later, a trim piece came loose so I drove it out to the dealership to take a look. They did so, and even called in someone from the shop to confirm that it wasn't a quick fix and I'd need to schedule a time to bring the car in for the repair. Fast forward a month and I bring the car in, only to get a call that I would need to come back another day because they don't have the part in stock and need to order it. WTF? What were they doing the first time I brought the car in. The dealership seems to act more like a used car dealership and the service department offers excuses more readily than good service. Time for me to move on to another dealership. read more

I can't say enough good things about this location so I finally had to write a review. I moved here from AZ almost three years ago and was not super impressed with the VW service dept there, but every experience has been stress free and wonderful at the Beaverton location. The first time I was at the dealership for service was about 2.5 years ago. There was a homeless guy wandering around inside that clearly wasn't sober in the service waiting area that would not leave me alone, it was so uncomfortable. Thankfully, a guy sitting near me alerted service, and an employee (wish I could remember who it was) immediately came over to check if I was okay, shoo the man bothering me out of the dealership, and call non emergency. This was so appreciated, and service went above and beyond, checking in on me constantly for the rest of the time I was there. THANK YOU to your employees for not only great service, but showing you care for the safety of everyone around. I will always remember this and am very grateful. Every single time I go for service continues to be great, including communication, convenience of Lyft service, etc. Nic, Kenzie, and Charisma are all so helpful and kind, and I always know my car is in good hands/they'll recommend services that I actually need/don't upsell. Brought my VW in for warranty and 2k additional service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service rep Jeanna was rude, short, and non responsive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have had similar issues with Jeanna in the past.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told service manager Branton Foster that I no longer wanted Jeanna to handle my service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He had me discuss my complaint on the service staff member Jeanna in front of other employees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He then showed me positive reviews for Jeanna on his work computer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told him my experience is my own and good customer service was to at least hear me out. Took to another reputable volvo mechanic and was told i have 10,000 more miles on the current ones and I only drive about 6000 miles a year! Communication was terrible. Stress free experience for a great car. Post purchase, the service department is wonderful. As an electric car, regular maintenance is almost minimal to non existent.
