When I have to work in office, this is always an option for lunch!!!! If you don't try anything else, get the garlic parm fries....then thank me later. Today I got the Vincent Vega. After driving back to work, dealing with an immediate issues and finally eating an hour later MY FOOD WAS STILL DELICIOUS!! Chicken crunchy, fries still tasty and I was soooo happy. With a name like "Royale with Cheese" comes an expectation of 'Pulp Fiction' in the mix and Royale with Cheese does not disappoint. Counter service ordering but table side food delivery was very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was very cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The menu and some art in the dining room absolutely represent 'Pulp Fiction' and I was expecting it and glad to see it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] HAVANA BREAKFAST FEEL BURGER Beef Patty, Turkey Bacon, Fried Egg, Fries, Cheese Fondue, Chipotle Ketchup, Royale Sauce. I chose the Salt & Pepper fries and a fountain drink (lemonade), and a "Vincent approved" Vanilla Bean Shake to finish it all off right. Great job, Royale with Cheese staff!

We need a quick bite and Royale was close and to be cheesy, I like the theme. We walked in and the cook was at the door- he then held the door for us an hopped behind the counter. I was a little weirded out by this but honestly, the food totally made up for my reservations. I had a cheeseburger and garlic parm fries with a shake. The burger hit the table and looked like it was liquid cheese (like beer cheese) and it was DELICIOUS!!! The garlic parm fries were alright. Would have been a little better if the garlic parm sauce was more liquid and distributed evenly like on garlic parm wings. But I liked the wedges direction. The shake- went with cinammon toast crunch. it's my favorite cereal and have never had that as a shake flavor. It was good. My kids loved it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The murals on the walls as an ode to Pulp Fiction not the best executed but I like the vision and I love a theme.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Why not 5 stars? Visited Royale with Cheese with my family for a late lunch. We ordered the Southwest Royale Wrap, Kruncher Burger, Vincent Vega (a classic fried chicken sandwich), and the Mushroom Onion Swiss Burger with Cajun fries. The halal meat was incredibly fresh and juicy, and the sauces, cheese, and fresh ingredients paired perfectly with it. The wrap featured crisp, fresh veggies and was probably the healthiest option of the bunch. The fries were made from real potatoes, crunchy, and lightly salted (the herb fries were especially delicious). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a cozy diner vibe with plenty of tables, making it a great spot for families.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait to visit again soon!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Royale with cheese may just be Detroits hidden gem. Tucked in midtown is this restaurant! Super cool right from the bat because it's all brought to life from one of the most iconic movie quotes ever, in Pulp Fiction! So there's decor from the film everywhere and the menu items are slogans and quotes from the movie, pretty cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That being said everything does have a super cool and BOLD twist to it! We tried a lot and absolutely everything was incredible. Mac & cheese bites are super flavorful and moist, not dry like most places. Grilled cheese & tomato soup is next level and the perfect flavor combo!! The ravioli is a MUST try!!! & don't skip on the KRUNCHER SPICY BURGER (not pictured) the best thing on the menu!! Also, dont leave without trying one of their milkshakes. Let me tell y'all something! This food is so good. The honey bunny or chicken Caesar chicken wrap, yes absolutely. Me and my boyfriend sat in the car and ate our food then literally reordered and ate again! lol that should tell you right there! I came to visit Detroit with my friend last week and we stopped here for lunch. The staff was incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful the moment we walked through the door. The food was also amazing! I got the lunch special with the American cheese burger, garlic parmesan fries and a drink. Absolutely amazing - I cleared my plate, there were no survivors. Thank you so much! I'll be making a beeline back to here if I ever return to Detroit

The food is good but not great. The website says Royale with Cheese is a burger joint but the burger was underwhelming...hoping I just ordered the wrong one. I got Just a Burger with salt and pepper fries and a Cinnamon Toast Crunch shake ($9 + additional $7 to make it a combo). The burger was standard. Not flavorful but not offensively bland. I thought the fries were the best part of the meal. They were nicely fried and seasoned. The milkshake was not super rich but I appreciated how the cereal was not soggy. Employees are very nice and chill despite being understaffed. Royale has indoor and outdoor seating. My group and I sat outside where they had about five well-shaded tables. Overall, a good place for casual eats! read more

I tried this place when I was in the area and it was pretty good. The atmosphere isn't really my thing, but I can see why others do enjoy it. Now onto the food! Started off with the mac and cheese bites. Although yummy, the serving was small and not worth the price. I also ordered the Vincent Vega. It was a fried chicken sandwich with pickles, cheese and aoili. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great. The chicken had a good flavor, but just didn't go well with the cheese. The fries were probably the best part of the meal. Those were delicious! A good place to stop by, but overpriced for the portions you receive. read more

It was late and the weather was horrible when my daughter and I wanted a burger on our way from the airport and found this on yelp so we dropped in. Stumbled upon this place while visiting Detroit. The burgers were so juicy and flavorful, but the seasoned parmesan fries were the icing on the cake. The potatoes were more like shaved chunks of potato rather than the normal cut of a French fry, this enabled the seasoning to be proportionately spread over the fry. The food was hot and delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe was a cool laid back feel of a chic cafe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But what really set this place apart other than the food was the cashier/waiter Hass. He made sure our service was top notch, over and beyond. He had a great personality from the minute we walked through the doors. He made the whole visit perfect. So I read many reviews before I took off to find this location but figured I'd let the place speak for itself. 1. Staff was welcoming and professional, not too chatty but just the right balance to get the job done. Service was prompt and the back staff brought out food out without any unnecessary wait time. 2. The space itself it awesome with the exposed brick and wide plank decor. Seats and booth could use some love but overall I don't understand people's complaints. 3. THE FOOD--I ordered the Beirut burger and it was delicious. My wife however wanted to trade me bites (she was thinking of ordering the Beirut but ordered the Mia Wallace). Let me just say I WAS JEALOUS! As good as mine was hers was so much better. The both loved the fried (garlic-parm) and the shakes were on point!!! PLEASE SO THIS PLACE SOME LOVE!!! read more

Got a love the name of this place. There are some outstanding burger options here. I love the one with the jalapeño krunchers, are used to eat these all the time when I was in my teens. I'm certain that they would be amazing a burger. They are out of several items on their menu today. You order at the counter, they give you a number and bring out your food order as it's made. The staff seem nice here. We ordered the Havana burger with a grilled chicken combo with the salt and pepper fries and a Jarrito mandarin bottle, a Kruncher with grilled chicken, added avocado, cheese fondue and turkey bacon combo with a herb and garlic fries and a cookie butter and Nutella milkshake, Caesar salad, cole slaw and a tomato soup. They use the Jay's brand jalapeño krunchers. The butter cookie and Nutella milkshake is super thick, almost like melting ice cream. It's super rich and so thick that it barely makes it through the Boba straw. It's creamy, slightly chunky and lovely. The butter cookie reminds me of the biscoff cookie even. It's quite filling, almost fills me up with this drink alone. The Havana was tasty. Nice flavoring and enjoyed the fried egg on it. Eggs are on another level with a fried egg. The Kruncher is a bulky and rather hard to eat with the random size and shapes of the folders Krunchers. It's quite messy. 4-5 napkins messy. Be careful what you add to it, it could make it harder to bite into, it's big as it on the menu. The avocado might have added more height to my chicken sandwich. It felt apart and the grilled chicken slid out after one bite. Maybe give it a squish down to take it down a notch and force it a flatter. The grilled chicken was nicely cooked on the Havana and the Kruncher. The diced jalapeños adds additional heat to the nice crunchy pop and savory heat from the Krunchers. The herb fries aren't bad, the salt and pepper tasted bland and hardly had any salt or pepper on it at all. The side of slaw is a tiny ramekin and is made to top your burger with. It's super thick and creamy, thick like it should not be, glue thick, maybe it's that way to stay together on the burger. The tomato basil is okay, nothing special about it. It's thick and mostly smooth, the texture isn't smooth or super chunky. The olive oil pesto is a nice add, but it doesn't add much as far as flavor. The Caesar is average, not worth the $8 and 1/3 of it is filler with the croutons. Focus next time on the burgers and milkshakes here, that's well executed. The salad, soup and slaw need further work. read more

It's a solid burger spot that's halal. The Havana burger is really good, and I actually really like the chicken patty substitute here, it's much better than other grilled chicken burgers that I've had. The shakes also look great, but I haven't tried them. I do think they're a bit overpriced for burgers, but the quality is solid. read more

The royal with cheese is a very cute homage to the movie pulp fiction. The restaurant has artwork from the movie and burgers/bites based off of the movie. The burgers were made really well. We had the Havana burger and the Miami Wallace and both were very good. The staff were polite and quick to get our order. Once you start to add things on like the different milkshake options they have, it can get a little pricey, but overall not too bad. I would definitely check this place out if you are a fan of the movie, or just looking for a good burger. read more

Had high hopes since this restaurant had 4.5 stars on Google and seemed like a cool concept however it was poorly executed. It was not busy at all when we came but it seemed as if we were bothering the workers by being there and ordering as they were all lounging and talking to each other. Everyone in my family ordered different items and nothing blew us out of the water. Two of us felt sick after as well. Not worth the money for the portion and quality. read more

Brought a friend with me here to grab a simple mean. I opted for the brisket, and it was delicious and so tender. The potato was so crispy and good and the coleslaw on top was the perfect balance and texture. The food tastes like good quality food. I had heard great things about Royale with Cheese, but what really drew me in was the Pulp Fiction inspired name. Walking into this burger joint, I was greeted with smiles behind the counter. And after staring at the menu for quite a while, I was given some great recommendations. I ended up getting the Kruncher which is their spicier burger. It was really juicy and the spice really came through. Their fries are your wedge shaped fries, so they didn't get that super crispy like I like them, but nicely seasoned. There was a lot of seating inside, and I even got some work done with my burger in hand. Definitely one of the coolest specialty burger spots in Detroit! read more

Needed something to eat and have seen this place on instagram a lot lately. We were right around the corner and decided to stop by. Several kids behind the counter just on their phones while we stood there for several minutes. Almost walked back out but another guy walked up to take our order. Tried a basic burger and Mac n cheese bites- both honestly were so bland and flavorless. No pickles or tomato's on the burger when it says pickles and tomato's. Just eh. Across from ally taco and a block over from third man records is this local burger joint. Named after pulp fiction Samuel Jackson character reference, this little spot lives up to its name. Self service (no wait staff) is dotted with pulp fiction murals and references. Their fries are basically a whole potato spiraled and fried which isn't expected but whimsical. Burgers are thick and layered so you're not leaving hungry. A great place to stop and explore the area. read more

Always enjoy our meals here. The fun ambiance, and generally speedy service (they do get weekend and evening dinner rushes, so order ahead if youre in a hurry) make it a great place for a casual meal. The garlic parm fries taste like Oysters Rockefeller, and I can eat three orders of them. The runny cheesey fondue sauce I could basically put on everything. Forever. read more

Fried Mac&Cheese: YES!! Cheese on top of fried mac&cheese cubes!!?? YAAASSSSS!!! Just look at my picture. It definitely tastes as good as it looks. We smashed it as soon as it hit the table. Royale Fries and Brisket: You ever experienced heaven in your mouth?? Well, here it is. We couldn't stop eating this when it landed. It was like smoking crack, but none of the side effects like rehab. The Royale: This sammich has a lot!! Actually,, a ton of components. But surprisingly buried by the bbq sauce. It was good A.F., but a little too hard to handle. Brisket pieces was everywhere. Havana oh na na: This was my husband's burger. We eat half and switch so we both get to experience each other's sandwiches. The Havana is definitely a strong burger. All the components were definitely present on my tastebuds. My husband took me here last night for our 22 year anniversary, and it was wonderful! The service was good, and there was only one guy inside when we arrived enjoying his food. As soon as we sat down though, people started coming in - we came at the perfect time! The food arrived pretty fast, and by the end I was so stuffed I wanted a nap. I think the only thing that I might like different is to have the staff how you want your burger? I like my burger a little pink, but it was still a great burger. I'm glad you're not near Ypsi (at least yet) or I'd probably be in a lot of trouble! read more

This review is like 2 years late... totally forgot to review this place and it eventually fell off my radar. The line when I came on a Saturday was insane. We had to wait a while to order our food. Once our food came I was a happy camper. Their ravoli appetizer was probably my favorite thing we ordered. It brought me straight to flavortoAnd the cinnamon toast crunch shake was A+! As for our entrees, I got the Havana Burger with fries while my boyfriend got the Royale burger with garlic fries. It was pretty good but not as memorable as their ravioli and shake. read more

Just taking our order took over 30 mins. I don't understand what's so hard about taking an order and moving on. The atmosphere screams late night college joint which makes sense since it's located in Midtown I felt like I was approaching the mothership when I finally made it to the front to place my order. While standing in line, I saw one of the cooks press the crap out of burger which is a big DON'T DO THAT!! I saw a lot of the staff just standing around, maybe they should rethink the open kitchen area. I'm not a big shake fan, but their fruity pebbles shake tastes exactly like cereal milk and I devoured the entire thing! The shake was the highlight of my experience. Now back to the food, I tasted the patty by itself and it wasn't even seasoned. It was like dried out sawdust. Within a few moments, the bartender originally on the far end of the bar had made her way to our side to take a new set of patrons' order who had just appeared to my right. Once again, the birthday girl calls out and asks if it would be possible for her to assist us when she was done. The nice woman I approached asked me what it was regarding, and I explained what we had experienced and told her it was disappointing, to say the least. She seemed rational and understanding and offered to send a waitress to the bar to serve us. I thanked her and went back to my seat. It was obvious that the bartenders had been made aware of my grievances because their demeanors and facial expressions suddenly had a LOT to say. At that point, we realized training, support, and customer service may be an unrecognized area of opportunity by upper management. The server was busy with tables but eventually made her way over. As we sat there conversing about this unbelievable experience and discussing other bars we could go to instead, a few patrons walked up to our side of the bar to introduce themselves and ask about our plans and whether we would stick around to have a drink with them. When we informed them we were leaving, they asked why. We gave them the short version as we prepared to leave. Sadly, they weren't surprised--but they offered AGAIN to make it right. Imagine customers offering to make it right. ‍ Just before leaving, one of our group stepped away to the restroom. At that point, Screen Time finally walked up and, exasperatedly, asked if we wanted anything. IKYFL. The birthday girl, who is sweet-natured, was understandably disappointed, so I decided, you know what? We'll take a shot for the road. A simple Don Julio Repo shot took longer than it should have... ...but the bill came IMMEDIATELY. And, of course, an automatic 20% gratuity was the cherry on top. We were promptly seated and greeted my our waitress, Mary. She was very attentive and knows the menu. She explained every dish and made excellent recommendations. We all started out with an Aperol Spritz, because what says Italy more than a spritz!?! We ordered a few appetizers, artichoke, squash and asparagus. The squash was unique. It had pickled summer squash, a vegetable that I never considered pickling. Simply delicious. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and the sauce really enhanced it. Great side dish. I did not try the artichoke, but my wife and daughter both said they were amazing. For mains, I ordered the Aragosta fra Diavolo, my wife the Cappelletti and my daughters the Carbonara. All were delicious. The fra diavolo had a nice light kick of heat and loaded with lobster tail. Excellent dish. I highly recommend Shewolf. It's a phenomenal restaurant that takes pride in their food, service and the whole experience.

For a starter, the cashew Caesar salad ($8) was ordered. It came with mixed greens, house-made cashew Caesar dressing, fried shallots, and vegan parmesan. This was very tasty. It was unique with the fried shallot addition. The dressing was just enough. It all appeared very fresh and crisp. The cheese had somewhat of an odd texture, but not a big deal. For a meal, the lobster roll pizza ($45) was ordered. This was so unique that it had to be tried. It came with 6 oz. wild caught lobster, herb crème fraiche, celery and onion brunoise, Cape Cod chips, and chives with drawn butter and lemon. This was very rich, so the addition of the lemon juice and crunchy chips really helped offset that. It was also heavy due to the components incorporated. The lobster appeared fresh and there was plenty of it. The butter was not even needed, but solid for a slight dip. The crème fraiche was solid and different. The crust was crispy and great too. Will I go back? I would, yeah.

Royale With Cheese capitalizes on the photogenic food movement that's going on right now thanks to Instagram. All of the burgers are always seen stacked with toppings and oozing with cheese. Because of that, I was worried that this place would be very gimmicky, but it wasn't at all. The food is the real deal! This is a higher end fast food spot. You order at the counter and take a seat, and they bring your food out to you. The menu is limited and it is obviously a burger joint, so they seem to whip the burgers up pretty quickly. I had seen photos of the Kruncher, so I knew I was going to try that. Unfortunately fries are extra and don't come with the burger, but it's $3 and more than worth it. I couldn't really figure out the fries from the photos, but they're basically a marriage between curly fries and potato wedges. Whatever they are, they are delicious. Very close to claiming the top spot for my favorite fries in the Detroit area. You get to pick the seasoning, and I definitely recommend the smokey BBQ. If they offered the same thing as sweet potato fries, I would commit to eating here every single week. That would be incredible. Now, the burger itself was delicious. The Kruncher has jalapeno potato chips, a spicy corn relish, queso, garlic aioli, and I added an egg for good measure. As you can see, a lot going on. Everything worked really well together, the burger was cooked to a perfect medium, and I have zero complaints. The only reason I can't give this 5 stars {yet} is because there was just so much on top of the burger that I can't say for sure how great of a burger this actually is. If you're in the mood for a great meal and love toppings on your burger, for sure give this a shot. But if you like plain-jain, I can't speak for if you'd enjoy the burger itself or not because I really couldn't judge it with so much going on. MUST TRY! This is truly a gourmet burger joint, with unique menu items, and literally EVERYTHING is house made. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The owner (who runs the entire kitchen) is the former Executive Chef at Grosse Ile Country Club so you have an legit chef making your burger! I had the Kruncher burger with a chicken breast instead of a beef patty (you can do that with any burger), and it was amazing. Chicken breast was perfectly cooked and tender, and the green chili-queso gave it a tasty kick. I also had the fried Mac n Cheese which was hand breaded and made in house. It's served with a delicious cheese fondue sauce! The portions are generous so I suggest you share the appetizers. The place is walking distance from campus so it's a good option for Wayne State students: great food and really affordable (burgers are $10 and under). With a drink and fries it's like $13-15 per person and well worth it. Already one of my favorite places to eat in Midtown/Downtown! read more

Absolutely loved this place. Being a Tarantino fan, the name instantly caught my eye. Greeted with simple menus and fast DIY service, I walked up to the front and ordered a royale burger and tater tots. Took pretty much no time at all to reach my table, even as there was quite a few people there. It was messy, but the flavor and atmosphere combining together as one on a sunny Saturday afternoon was magical. I'd come back any time. Also, anyone notice how most of the negative reviews are from the elite '17 Yelpers? No surprise, them constantly complaining and pretending to be food reviewers is about as predictable as the sun rising every morning. read more

A great new restaurant! Amazing flavors from start to finish. You can tell from the minute you walk in that the staff takes great pride in making sure you have a great meal. I was impressed when the owner came by to see how our meal was but even more impressed to see him talking to everyone else too! The brisket melts in your mouth it is so tender. My kids loved the shakes and are talking about when we can go back. My personal favorite was the Kruncher! The restaurant is very clean. Decided to check out Royale With Cheese . The owner and his friendly staff greeted my family and I as we walked in . The menu is filled with creative sandwich combos . The Royale With Cheese is a smoked brisket sandwich served on a pretzel roll . The toppings include Southwest Corn Relish, caramelized onions, Avocado, Smoked Gouda, Cheese Fondue, cole slaw and Royale sauce . It's fantastic! There are also many vegetarian choices . The first time I went they had these thick curly fries which were phenomenal this time they had these thin fries like every other restaurant.If yo haven't been here, get here. We had a large group and the management team was really nice and did what they could to accommodate my 20 month old niece and her requests (she likes lots of tomatoes).
