In an industry where companies consistently upsell and overcharge, Roy knew exactly what our issue was before he even set foot inside. My dad has a very old 1950s track home and the main toilet had stopped working right before Thanksgiving. I won't get too graphic but it was like having a portapotty inside for several months. Nothing worked - no draino, no snaking the line. I had called several plumbers and Roy was the only one who kept the appointment. Called to have automatic toilet valve repaired in a commercial building. He didn't have the Zurn valve that was on there so I asked him to put in the Sloan retrofit like I had in the other restrooms. I specifically said I needed the 3 1/2 gallon flush as the low flush didn't do the job. $650 later I found they had installed a low flush manual valve. This is similar to the model valve that I had replaced 15 years ago. I'm glad that he was able to get to the job quickly, but unhappy that he did not follow my instructions or communicate that he was not going to install the type of valve I specified. I have since ordered the correct valve from Amazon and will install it myself. I won't be calling Roy's again as I need to work with people who communicate and follow instructions. Had some sewer work done by Roy's in Granada Hills and their work is below standard and did not fix the sewer problem. The sewer cleanout is not even level and is a trip hazard and despite paying several thousand for the repair I am still having sewer blockages. They want to charge more to fix a problem they should have fixed in the first place. Would avoid this company as they lack any attention to detail. Update: I won't ask Roy to come back to complete work he should have done properly in the first place. Paid him thousands for garbage work. Already got quotes to fix the mess he made and every plumber said the work was not done properly with gaps for root intrusion to Roy's pipe work which is causing blockages again. I should have known there were hidden problems given his lack of attention to details that are visible from the outside with the uneven clean out being a trip hazard. Got several quotes, and his price was in line, but we didn't use him because a different company offered something that Roy wasn't able to. No harm, no foul. A few days ago I called Roy again for a price to lower the kitchen sink sewer line. He quoted $650, then lowered the price to $550. When we said it was too much, he then said there was a $75 service charge. This was the first time there was mention of a service charge and only after this conversation. I refused to pay it, as it was not mentioned when I initially placed the call. Roy got pissed off and hung up the phone on me. Then proceeded to send an angry text. Not sure what is going on with this company. We really liked him in the past, even referred him to others. Never again though! First, let's start by saying, emergency? Call Roy's! I called them at 11am, when I found the downstairs living room with 2 inches of water! Yikes! Their technician arrived with 45 minutes. With 1.5 hours, first cause was identified by camera. We knew we would eventually have to deal with root problem in our clay pipe sewer line. Due to the severity of our problem it did take 2 days to fix, but they ended up helping replace the sewer line from home to city connection. Carlos, their project lead (not actually sure of his official title) was excellent at communication. Their team worked through over 100 degree weather to dig a 7 foot deep access hole! All so professional, very dedicated to great service. At every turn Carlos worked with Roy to deliver best solution at a cost effective price. Obviously, not an inexpensive job. I have never in my life written a bad review and have also never in my life filed a police report but there is no way this owner should get away with threatening customers after his employees cause problems. This man actually scared me and my father so badly that I filed a police report. I called Roy's plumbing after one plumber gave me a price of 350 to snake my toilet. Oh my gosh I wish to God I just went with the first plumber. When Roy's two employees came, the second they started snaking the toilet, they caused a HUGE leak into my parents bedroom. When I called him, he was yelling at me telling me his guys never even touched my toilet. I was in shock and kept asking him "why are you doing this? Why are you denying this? Please please have them fix this!" It was on speaker with me and my dad. He cursed and cursed at us and literally kept denying they even touched my toilet. He then told them in Spanish to leave my house and not admit they touched the toilet. It was on speaker so I said "why are you telling them this?" And he went crazy again cursing at me and said he knows where I live and he would come f***cking slash my tires!! The guy was the most unprofessional person I have ever come across! We called a plumber the following day who fixed what his guys did thank goodness. Oh and he's now telling detectives that we threatened him, that my police officer husband threatened him. My husband never said one bad thing to this guy! He invited my husband to his house, threatening him, gave him an address, etc. But of course my husband did not engage. This man is a huge liar and has serious anger problems!! It has taken me over a week to post this because we have literally been scared of his threats. The 1 star is for the overpriced work. My flush valve and flapper are worn out. $300 is the "discounted price" I paid Roy's Plumbing. It took approx 10 minutes to change with a new kit that cost about $20. A 10-15minute job cost me $300. When I asked about this I was told they have a based price that has nothing to do with how short the job is or how cheap the material is. My other toilet has the same problem and I found a way cheaper price elsewhere. read more

I needed a local plumber to inspect a leak in the furnace at my condo, so I called Roy's Plumbing. I spoke with Carlos, who said he had someone nearby who could come over for a service call, and it would be $125. I agreed since I didn't mind the service fee and someone could be there same-day. The plumber Carlos sent arrived, took some pictures, looked around for about five minutes, I told him what I needed and said he would talk to Carlos and send me an estimate. I even spoke to Carlos and explained that I needed to know where the leak was coming from and how much it would cost to replace the pipes in my condo only, not the entire building since that's the HOA's responsibility. Instead, I received an estimate for over $2700 to replace the entire building's pipes, which was not what I requested. Carlos started ignoring my calls so I called the main number again and spoke to Roy. Roy said he would look into it and get back to me. In the end, I was charged a fee, didn't get the estimate I asked for, and I'm being ignored. Very unprofessional. Do not hire these guys. You'll just waste your time and money. read more
