I came in today with my daughter who wanted a Shirley Temple to drink. Many times when I ask for this drink, people don't know what it is. So I asked the waitress for a sprite with cherry juice or grenadine. She cut her eyes at me over her face mask and sternly stated, "I know what a Shirley Temple is." Then she walked away. When she came back with our drinks, I started to give my order and she quickly walked away and sat at a table to my right slightly behind me. While she scrolled through her phone, I sat & waited uncomfortably for about 3 minutes then got up to leave. This ru sans is terrible, I don't know if it was because I am black or they are just extremely inattentive but I was ignored basically the whole time I was here to the point I had to raise my hand like I was in school to try and get someone's attention. When I asked to get the automatic 18% charge removed because of the lack of good service the manager said there was nothing he could do to help at all. Just stopped by on a Saturday night... This spot is located upstairs from Poke Bar near the back of Edgewood Plaza on Caroline Street. Parking is in front or on the side lots in front of the stores. It was my first time here and the service was excellent from the start. It was a splurge evening for ya Boy so my go to is the calamari appetizer. This was tasty but a little too greasy for my taste. The spicy salmon roll was mediocre and my maki role was a little lacking in portion size and taste. I did enjoy the Thai roll the most, it was covered in a sweet brown sauce that made it pop. The overall experience is decent so that's why I give it a 3 out of 5 stars but the sushi quality isn't up to par with what I'm used to. The cost was so cheap and affordable though and I could see myself coming every so often. The menu looks amazing, so I was very excited to eat here. I know that we're in Atlanta, and there is a pandemic. With that said, I was shocked at the quality of the fish. It was borderline sour--- which isn't good. The salmon quartet sashimi was inedible. My husband eats everything and he could t do it. I used to think the lunch buffet was a good deal, as long as you set your expectations low. BUT now, they charge a heft penalty if you don't eat all your rice from the sushi and rolls. Went to Ru San's for lunch. We had the Mixed Wrap and the Buffet. This is upstairs at the Edgewood location. The location is good. The ambience is really not great. It is run down place with no real setting. The music was *LOUD*. You had to shout to the person next to you. The buffet has Sushi and a variety of Thai like dishes. The mixed wrap was really large and good value for the price. Overall the food was so so but not bad. Not really much of a food experience, but OK. It is a lot of food for the price, so you will not go away hungry, but not much of a culinary experience. So OK food and poor ambience. The service was OK. read more

I have been to this location many times. However, tonight was the last time my partner and I will dine there. We left $7 on a $65 tab. The waitress, Ko ko, runs after us asking if we had a bad time. We were both in shock. My partner opened up his wallet to reveal only a $1 left. He offered to go upstairs and pay with his card so that he could leave MORE, and she DECLINED. I ended up giving her $4 more.... It has deeply saddened me to experience this. Not only did she say that she had to pay out 15% to the restaurant, she also stated that if we did not giver her AT LEAST 15% then she would not make any money . She also claimed we did not give her enough. My partner and I both work/worked in the service industry. The tip we gave was the best we could do with the cash we had on hand. This was my second time coming here. It is small but cozy. Its located up the stairs of the inman park shopping area. You have choice of eating at a table or at the sushi bar. We orderd from the $1 sushi special that comes with a nice sauce. The amount given was small but delicious. I ordered the spider roll and non- alcohol beer called buckler (it actually has 0.5% alcohol in it) but tasted good. I gave place 4 stars because it was a basic sushi restaurant. My most recent meal at the Rusan's on Moreland was not good at all. A noticeable decline from my last visit. I got the seafood teriyaki. It was overcooked. Every piece of seafood was rubbery. The sauce tasted like it was from a jar. And they didn't have any hot tea. The staff were friendly and helpful but they really need to step up the quality of their food. read more

I've come to this location for years and never had a complaint until now. I ordered a 24 dollar salmon and sushi teriyaki combo. When i got gome and opened the bag I realized that I was missing my steamed rice. I politely and calmy called the restaurant back and let them knoe that my order was missing rice. Rather than offer to replace the rice the employee on the phone was immediately rude and told me "I packed the rice in the bag sir". I doubled down and told her that I was staring right at the bag and every item in it and that the rice was missing and she continued to have an attitude. I was then told to complain to postmates if I had a problem. I have no idea why anybody would argue with a customer over a side of steamed rice when they spent over $20 on a dish. It was a simple fix and could have been resolved by easily saying "sir I thought I packaged the rice but if I didnt I apologize. If you come back up here we'll give you your rice". This customer service here is beyond garbage. The employees at the front are rude and this location has gone downhill. I'll never visit this RuSan's again. read more

I came here for the first time in many years...and remembered very quickly why I haven't been back. Shrimp tempura roll - hot, fresh, yummy. Ramen - served super hot and full of veggies. NO TASTE AT ALL. No seasonings, just bland brown water. My nonattentive server had disappeared off the floor, so I asked another server to zend her to my table or bring me some chili oil. 10 minites later. No server. No chili oil. By this time, the owner or manager is calling for my server. She comes by and says...we don't have chili oil. Cool...please bring me something that adds flavor to this hot bowl of no taste. After walking past my table a couple more times with nothing for me, she finally comes back with some chili paste. Awesome. And thank God my hot bowl of no taste was so hot. Because it was still hot! So sad to be writing this one for my one time spot! They have completely fallen all the way off and they could care less. I have been a faithful customer for over 10 years and get so excited to come here when I'm in town. The food is terrible now from the Miso soup, toilet tasting water all the way down to my used to be favorite-Gone With The Wind! It was burnt both times I ordered it and the Manager could care less. I can't completely discount Ru San's for what they do and what they supply on the front of affordable sushi, noodles, etc, I was pretty astonished at the quality of each dish that we ordered. Now, I've been to Ru San's several times before in Charlotte and I was relatively familiar with their style ($1 sushi, buffet, etc) but I was a little grossed out with this location. Here's why -- First, upon entering, the layout of the restaurant and furniture present make it seem as if someone forgot to order enough proper tables and chairs for guests. There are several temporary picnic style tables and folding chairs in the dining area. It just makes everything look super cheap and unapproachable. Just a bit of a disappointment. Second, the food was flat and uninspiring at best. I ordered a few rolls -- California, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. Where the California was just fine, the others were slathered so heavily with a sweet chili sauce that I could barely work through them roll by roll. I had to scrape it off with a fork to get through them. Even still, the flavor of that sauce was quite overpowering and permeated the rice in horrible fashion. I tried to enjoy it, but could only get through a handful of the rolls. My wife ordered noodles with veggies and some tempura veggies. The noodles had such an aromatically overpowering sesame flavor, I could only muster a small bite. It was terrible. No attention to balance whatsoever. The tempura veg looked great, though. For our visit, the only saving grace was our extremely sweet server. She was so nice and was even having to deal with some unnecessarily perturbed guests and handled everything with ease. She was so nice throughout and took great care of us and her other tables. I don't recall her name, but she was extremely kind. Can't say I'll be back. I've eaten at this RuSans twice. Now, this last experience, I went with a guy friend. When I entered the restaurant, the hostess was too "friendly". He was making insinuating comments about where my friend was and telling me that I should go join him in the restroom!?! What the hell? You don't know me like that. Totally inappropriate. I was there just after the lunch buffet. I noticed that they didn't just toss the leftovers from the buffet table. They took them and put them back behind the counter with the fresh fish. As much as I really love the lunch buffet at the Midtown Ru Sans, I have to tell you, this one is like an entirely different restaurant. However, it is not in a good way. This location really sullies the Ru San's name, which really stands for cheap, yet good, sushi in Atlanta. Many would shudder at a sushi buffet, but I have seen many won over by the Midtown location's fabulous lunch buffets. However; I have had lunch at this location more than once, and I have to say, the last time was the last straw. I will NEVER eat at this location again. The service is awful. I mean seriously, we got a buffet; all you have to do is fill out waters in a reasonable amount of time, but apparently, that is too much to ask. I asked our waiter for a straw, and I got what had to be a the straw that he put in his apron the night he started some time ago; it was so disgusting I had to throw it out. Now, on to the sushi. This is not sushi that I would want; and honestly, this is the sushi that makes so many people afraid to try this amazing cuisine. This is sushi that would make me rightfully fear eating a sushi buffet; it is horrible. The quality is inconsistent, and the rolls are awful. Not only is the sushi bad, especially when compared to the midtown location, but the alternative Chinese selections (which also bring so many people to the midtown Ru Sans) are awful... and cold. My partner complained, and the waiter didn't even seem to care. Overall, if you are looking for decent sushi, and even willing to settle for a reasonable and tasty lunch buffet, DO NOT go to this Ru Sans; you will have every fear that one should have about "sushi buffet" substantiated and confirmed. It's sad too, because it's so close to my house. Oh well, at least there's a Willy's and a Figo downstairs; even more reason to not walk up the stairs for crappy service and BAD sushi. You look across the room and see an exotic beauty. A pearl of the Orient, her long, black hair shines with luxuriousness. You notice the manga she's holding and you nod approvingly. She notices you staring and slips you a sly smile. She waves you over and you coyly introduce yourself. "Oh, your name is RuSan, you say? That's very exotic. Where are you from?" You expect her to answer something like Kyoto or Hokkaido. You find out she's from Carrollton. Turns out that this exotic beauty was born at Northside General and has only been outside of Georgia a couple of times, once to visit some friends in Tennessee and another time when the Marching Trojans played in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade when she played flute. She learned about manga from her older brother. Heck, her parents aren't even Japanese, but Korean. But she's pleasant enough and okay to spend time with. She even did a couple of sake bombs with you. OK, so she's not quite authentically Japanese, but she's okay. You might call her again, particularly when the sake bombs start falling. read more

Pleasantly surprised! I was a little hesitant going there because of the low ratings, but we decided to stop by since my usual sushi spot doesn't operate on Mondays. This isn't a fancy japanese place, and that's a good thing because that means there is none of that snobbiness you experience in certain upscale sushi places. It seems like there is a lot of regulars here, and everyone is courteous, attentive, and welcoming. Ok food was very fairly priced. You get the value and will not leave hungry.
