It was easily big enough to share with another person (though you may not want to ). Packed generously and perfectly balanced, every bite was loaded with flavor. It came with a side of crispy chips, and the salsa bar is a huge bonus. I love being able to customize each bite with different salsas -- from fresh and mild to bold with a kick. We used to come here all the times but forgot about them for a while. Stopped by tonight for a quick bite. I got the Coastal Trio with the original fish taco, a shrimp taco, and a mahi mahi taco with the flour tortilla instead of corn tortilla but I still didn't eat them, just ate the protein only. LoL Hubby had the salmon taco and the original fish taco and he thought they were good. Food was good and great service, as usual. I am not sure about their food but there customer service is AMAZING. Let me tell you they are so sweet me (13yr female) got hurt and was bleeding really bad on my elbow and knee and I was asking for bandages and they were so kind about it pulling out a first aid kit and giving me loads with ointment and somthing to clean it with then letting me into their restroom and was just a very wholesome moment that meant a lot to me! read more

Terrible customer service and unskilled Manager Fernanda on 10/23/25. Asked to clarify why there was a tip added to the receipt when we did not request one. She was immediately defensive, did not take the time to explain how the terminal works with credit card and stated she did not know how to refund a tip. She gave NO options on how to handle the issue. Even if error was on our end, she did not have the skill set to KINDLY explain an error. Could she have cancelled transaction and start over? Could she have offered a comp item? Nothing, was offered and believe this employee needs and requires additional customer service training in managing. I really love this location, let me start by prefacing that. But to listen to the bald tattooed manager publicly berate one of his employees was disgusting and did not sit well with me at all. He was telling him "you work two jobs and complain that it's still not enough" loudly enough that I could hear it in the back corner of the dining room. The young employee responded with "it is very expensive around here, and I HAVE to work two jobs to pay my bills," something that is the common unfortunate reality for many residents in SoCal. I just was really sad to hear this kind of treatment from a manager, someone who is probably making far more than a part-time employee, and to make a comment like that just felt so wrong. Overall, I enjoy this location. The servers are friendly and service is normally quick. I typically order tacos of some variety and a drink. A few times my order ha been incorrect and I have not noticed until I am home as I order to go. When I have called about the error, the manager has taken action to make it correct. The food is consistently good as are the portions. The restaurant is always clean and the salsa bar is always ready with options. I recommend trying them out. It's great that they are still at this location as many Rubio locations have closed. read more

Dropped by Rubio's for my usual Fish Taco Especial (Two Taco Plate) and as always, fish is nicely battered and cooked until golden crispy. Mexican street corn is on point with its flavor profile. Bean & cheese is creamy and stringy cheesy. Definitely try their fish taco especial plate with a few sides. Incredible flavors, consistent quality, and reasonably priced. The Mission Viejo location and this one in Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel are the only two locations left in South Orange County. Presentation of my food was bad. The Mission Viejo location is better even if that one is also hit or miss. I love Rubio's food so I still go but I would like to have more great experiences when I come. Rubio's can learn a thing or two from Luna Grill, another San Diego based small chain, about excellent customer service, consistent food, and great presentations. read more

Rubio's is not where you go for the most authentic Mexican food. But you do go for the consistency, the predictability, and pretty decent food. This Rubio's is no different than any other, and while the service may vary from place to place, this one does just fine. I've had issues with my food being cold for pick up or takeout, but I didn't have any of those here. We ordered on the mobile app and got there just as it was put out and the food was just right as far as warmth and freshness. I had the shrimp taco trio, and each of my tacos were very satisfying. Eat it fresh on site=fresh & crispy fish Take it home=still good but gets soggy For me, I ask for extra white sauce because that makes the fish taco THE BEST EVER. Feeling compelled to write a review after just an awful meal. Ordered the Mexican Street Corn Bowl with Lobster, which cost $18 without tax. Basically got a huge bowl of rice and beans, with a few (and I'm talking minuscule) pieces of actual lobster. What a rip off!!! I used to LOVE Rubios. This is a very nice Rubio's with a great location. Tables are all clean and nice with big bay windows. The outside area is also nice area to enjoy. The food and service are nice too. I have eaten here occasionally over the years. They are following COVID restrictions, wearing masks and have outside dining. Parking can be difficult during busy times at lunch and dinner. Since this is a chain, you pretty much know what you are going to get if you have been to a Rubios before. Here, the staff is friendly and the area is clean. I like that they have a nice outside area to dine. This last time I got the shrimp tacos plate. It was very good and the tacos have bacon and avocado. Chips and beans are nice as a side. I came here during the covid-19 mess and ordered food to go. I had a bogo coupon and got: alaskan salmon burrito and shrimp+ bacon burrito. Both were really tasty and done well. The only negative thing I have to say was that while I was eating my shrimp and bacon burrito I bit into a piece of a plastic corner. From the looks of it it looks like a bag of salsa? Not the end of the world at all but I did wanted to mention it so that more attention is paid while making these. So my rating of 3 stars is really 3.5 stars since the burritos were tastey. Another thing everyone already knows and is obvious but the salsa bar is closed. I didn't know how to describe the salsa I always got but I got 2 correct ones and 2 wrong ones. Do'H. This is my first time trying Rubio's and my salad was delicious! It had plenty of ingredients (steak, avocado, tortilla strips, corn) with a jalapeño ranch dressing. Super yummy. I will definitely be a return customer. The other evening at work I was remembering how amazing the loaded nachos from Rubio's used to be. I decided that tonight would be the night I'd order them again. I ordered a customized version with plant based meat, extra pico, and black beans. I got all the salsa on the side. The delivery took less time that the original time said which is always nice! I was even more excited to see they had plant based options. I made my way to my car and opened the box. The presentation didn't look the best because it was only chips, black beans, and cut up imposible meat. The website said it was crumbles so I was surprised to see big chunks of hamburger patty. I was disappointed to see that my pico was nowhere to be found. I looked through everything to make sure they didn't put it on the side. It was more upsetting since I spent extra money to get more. It just didn't taste the same which was probably my bad. The meat was very salty, the salsa wasn't spicy, and it was just very underwhelming.
