The Fish Tacos here never disappoint. As a UCR grad, I used to actually go to the Rubio's at the University Village near the university. Since they closed down, this Canyon Springs location has been a great replacement. I went there today after I had to deliver some packages via FedEx. They have a daily lunch special available until 2PM, and a Friday fish taco plate deal as well. Unfortunately I arrived just after 2 so I couldn't take advantage of the deal. At the normal price, the fish taco plate (2 tacos with beans and tortilla chips) and an order of 2 fish tacos only nearly the same price. If you're trying to save money by ordering just the tacos, you're only going to save 1 cent FYI. Their salsas are fire. Their roasted chipotle salsa and picante salsas are my favorite. Their salsa bar isn't open still so you have to ask for containers of them. Ample parking available in large shopping plaza. Download their app to order ahead of you're in a rush! read more

Rubio's fish tacos are my favorite things to eat from their restaurant! Although they have some pretty good salads I rarely stray away from eating the tacos, lol. They are crunchy and well seasoned with a good amount of creamy sauce and veggies. This time I had the two taco plate that also came with chips and refried beans dip. A note on the pricing: The difference between getting two fish tacos a-la carte and the two fish taco plate that also includes the chips and refried beans dip is 1 penny. Yes, 1 penny. That is not very obvious in their menu and our cashier did not point it out, which I would have appreciated. Once I got my receipt my husband and I noticed and I had to go back and ask if my two fish tacos could be turned into a plate, like my husband's. The cashier rolled his eyes but ultimately made the change for me. Other: I want to say thank you to Angel (manager). She was so graceful and greeted us so nicely when she delivered our food! Food was great. After lunch time and wasn't to busy so tried it out. Good idea. Go to the counter order, food delivered to your table. The only thing I found bad was the salsas kept in one place and it looked like it was fuller earlier. I always take that to mean either it was old and had been up there a long time or someone wasn't in charge of keeping it full. Floors clean, and rest room also. It's always a tell to run away if it is a mess. The trash needed emptying. I then opted not to try the salsa. The servings generous except the beans, that was put in a little plastic medicine container. About a tablespoon size. Probably will return but know not to come late in the afternoon. read more

Rubio's never fails me on Tuesday with their taco special. Their fish tacos never disappoint and are consistently delicious. I only wish the promo started earlier or didn't have a specified time (I think it's after 2:30 PM) in which their taco Tuesday specials apply. This is pretty new to me, never had this happen before. I placed an order the new Al Pastor shrimp bowl with a couple other items to go. I was there about an hour before they were going to close, not sure if they were too busy, but the person behind me who ordered after me, received their order before me, which I found it to be pretty odd. Prices are as bad as current gas prices. This place has stopped following covid safety protocols. They don't wipe down tables when other people leave. Ours had food all over it and was sticky. Table sat empty for a bit before we sat down. They don't take out trash either. Place wasn't packed, so it's not like they were swamped. This is just poor management. Couple kids meals, 2 burritos, and a two taco plate = $58. Rubios is turning into a place I might go to once a year now. Also when we were ordering my daughter asked the difference between a California burrito and a burrito especial. The young white girl taking our order had the worse attitude. This review is for one special person who works at Rubio's Coastal Grill on Canyon Springs Prkwy in Riverside (sometimes it is called Moreno Valley). I had a bad experience with a worker at Rubio's who did not know how to get my rewards points and told me the wrong thing rather than admit he did not know or ask for help. But today I want to recognize an employee at the same Rubio's who is truly an exceptional person! My husband and I order online from Rubio's maybe a couple of times a week and he almost always goes to pick the food up. A couple of weeks ago, I placed the order while I was close to the store and when I went in to get the food, a woman employee greeted me in a very friendly way and said, "Oh, your husband usually comes to get it." I smiled and thanked her and thought, "Oh, we must order so much that we are known to these folks.". I went to order dinner last night and I went into Rubio's and it was not very busy. This same very nice woman came to the register and I explained to her that I had not gotten my points last time I ordered in store and she assured me that this time I would. I ordered our dinner and Angel was so helpful. She explained to me how to pull up the QR code in the app on my phone and she showed me the scanner and, "voila!!" I had my points. Why is the staff so happy, smiling and always wanting to provide excellent customer service? Seriously, from the cashier to the staff cooking everyone is attentive to their work as well as the customers. Could it be they are really robots in human form? Is it something in the salsa that is making them so jolly?... anyway, on a Wednesday night when everyone is probably tired I was pleased to dine here and notice the experience which I usually order for carryout. I will be coming back to this location. Everyone is always working to keep the place clean and nobody standing around idle, all the employees are busy with tasks and taking care of the customers. Thursday date night with my hubby is always cool. We decided on Rubios because I had a coupon for a free entree. Since my husband wasn't very hungry we ordered the enchilada plate. One steak and one Chicken with the red sauce and it came with two sides. I opted for the chips and lime rice. The food was decent, but the service was awesome. Kate was the person who waited on me. She did everything she could do so that my coupon would work. In the mix of getting the coupon to work I forgot to mention no sour cream. When our food came Kate checked on us and realized we had a problem. She was so gracious. She went and got my husband a chicken enchilada with no sour cream at no charge. This is the most unorganized and badly run rubios ever. While I was waiting in line for about 30 minutes, I could hear a woman shrieking in the back area, constantly shrieking. I couldn't tell what she was saying. It was in Spanish. The manager is running around yelling and barking at people. He walked over to the 1 unattended cash register and started taking orders from the people in line behind me. He said it's because I'm paying with cash. And he can only take cards. (The stupidest thing I've ever heard of at any restaurant business ...anywhere.) So even though I'd already been waiting in line for a longer time, the people in back of me and at the end of the line were allowed to "take cuts" per the managers lack of customer service skills and bad business sense. Then after I ordered my meal with a drink, I wasn't given a cup. When I went back to the counter and asked for the cup the little male Latino manager was too busy telling a woman in the line how beautiful she was - loud enough for everyone to hear him. I suppose he thinks that's good customer relations, while I stand there waiting for a cup. He then came over to me at the little condiments bar, actually apologized for something. I couldn't understand what it was. I ignored him. It /he was rude. There were a lot of people hearing him. Did he seriously think coming over to me AFTER all that nonsense was going to cheer me up. If he spent as much time actually working as he does going around apologizing for the bad service - we all might not need to put up with wrong orders and slow cashiers . This place, For the price and loud rude little man running around , I'd rather go somewhere else . But unfortunately I already paid for my food . I have yet to get my meal. Came here for a quick meal before we hit the road for a road trip. Hubby got his usual taco plate, mini me got nachos with steak and I got try out the new Oaxaca shrimp bowl. Good place to find fresh food. I had the veggie burrito which was full of grilled onions, zucchini, bellpeppers, lime rice, guacamole and black beans.
