This is the most unorganized and badly run rubios ever. While I was waiting in line for about 30 minutes, I could hear a woman shrieking in the back area, constantly shrieking. I couldn't tell what she was saying. It was in Spanish. The manager is running around yelling and barking at people. He walked over to the 1 unattended cash register and started taking orders from the people in line behind me. He said it's because I'm paying with cash. And he can only take cards. (The stupidest thing I've ever heard of at any restaurant business ...anywhere.) So even though I'd already been waiting in line for a longer time, the people in back of me and at the end of the line were allowed to "take cuts" per the managers lack of customer service skills and bad business sense. Then after I ordered my meal with a drink, I wasn't given a cup. When I went back to the counter and asked for the cup the little male Latino manager was too busy telling a woman in the line how beautiful she was - loud enough for everyone to hear him. I suppose he thinks that's good customer relations, while I stand there waiting for a cup. He then came over to me at the little condiments bar, actually apologized for something. I couldn't understand what it was. I ignored him. It /he was rude. There were a lot of people hearing him. Did he seriously think coming over to me AFTER all that nonsense was going to cheer me up. If he spent as much time actually working as he does going around apologizing for the bad service - we all might not need to put up with wrong orders and slow cashiers . This place, For the price and loud rude little man running around , I'd rather go somewhere else . But unfortunately I already paid for my food . I have yet to get my meal. Had a good lunch experience here today. They get their 5 stars because there was a young man there named Jimmy who was one of the most helpful, polite and hard working employees I have seen at a restaurant in a long time. He was the counter cashier, food server and was busy cleaning up when not taking orders or bringing food to tables. He was non-stop. I usually love Rubio's. Upon entering, the woman who greeted me was very kind. Made eye contact and asked me how I was. The good experience ended there. I wanted to use the restroom and there was no toilet paper. I had to tell someone and then let her know that I actually needed to use the restroom right then rather than just notifying her of the sub-standard bathroom (which was messy). She then quickly and rudely filled the canisters. Then the manager was walking around greeting everybody and not once was I greeted. He even offered the table next to me free chips asked them if they needed anything, and asked if they were okay. I've gone to rubios multiple times growing up in Oceanside. Living in the IE now, sometimes it feels they don't pay attention to your orders details as well as I'd like. My receipt will say what I want, but they tend to mess up quite consistently when I'm making an order for my GF. I ordered a California burrito with steak as the meat, and they gave me another shrimp burrito. This is also during the hours between lunch and dinner where it's less busy and I'd expect them to be more focused. Maybe they should get a new manager. read more

I get it sometimes things go wrong but the last two times I have been to this location the service has been horrible. First I call in to place an order get put in hold then someone comes to phone asks how they can help then tells me to hold on. While running errands with my husband, we decided to have lunch here and enjoy the warm sunshine and opportunity to enjoy our meal in the outdoor patio area. I ordered what I thought was the fish taco special and the shrimp burrito special, and I ordered these because it included a drink. The cashier asked me a question about the burrito and I said and pointed to what ever burrito was on special menu board. After a few minutes, my order was called by a different cashier and when I asked her for our drinks, she said our order did not inlcude drinks. She reviewed our order and said that is not what we had ordered and if we wanted the special, we had to specifically ask for it and if we wanted drinks, we would have to order these separately. I explained to her that I did ask for the 2 fish tacos and shrimp burrito and I was under the impression that I correctly ordered exactly what I wanted. She continued to insist that I have to specifially ask for the special to get the special. At that point, I was not about to continue wasting my time on something that did not look like it was going to be resolved with her and I was too upset to get a manager involved and continue the argument and I was not going to make a scene and look foolish arguing over drinks in front of other customers.
