The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. When we went in the middle of the afternoon, the place was very busy as it was hard to find a table in their outside patio, so we settled for a table in the indoor section(A/C SCORE!!). The ground was littered with powdered sugar as customers like myself don't always understand how to eat these beignets without making a big mess. The beignets themselves were pretty inexpensive as they cost only $4.53 for a 3-pack. I also got a large frozen coffee for $7.70. The beignets were delivered to our table very fast and very warm. The movie "Chef" says you only get your first bite of your first beignet from Cafe Du Monde once in your life and to cherish the moment and I do truly understand what they meant with that quote. These beignets were so great and that first bite with the powdered sugar explosion was so amazing-I really enjoyed the recklessness of having a beignet at Cafe Du Monde. Overall, I feel that anyone who visits New Orleans has to find their way to this legendary cafe and enjoy this dish that has been served since 1862. A really great bite!.

I am extremely disappointed to have to write this review as a longtime patron of the Ruby Slipper. However, my experience today (3/18) at brunch was deeply upsetting. I have celiac disease, and upon arrival, I immediately informed the waitstaff of my dietary restriction. They provided me with their allergy menu, allowing me to make an informed decision about my meal. I ordered the migas and specifically reminded the server to mark my order as gluten-free. She confirmed this and even noted "no tortillas" on my order, as they are the source of gluten contamination. When my meal arrived, everything appeared fine. However, about halfway through eating, I discovered a fried tortilla mixed into my eggs--at which point I knew I had been glutened. Shortly after, I started experiencing symptoms and had to rush to the restroom. While I was in the restroom, the rest of my party unknowingly asked for the check. When I returned, I informed the server that I had found not one but two tortillas in my meal and was already experiencing a reaction. I wasn't looking for compensation; I simply wanted to inform her so that this mistake wouldn't happen to someone else with a gluten sensitivity. I fully understand that cross-contamination can happen, but this was not cross-contamination--this was direct contamination. Unfortunately, her response was dismissive. She told me that I should have informed her earlier. I then pointed out that my allergy had been clearly noted on the order and that the food runner had even reassured me that the migas were gluten-free. She continued to insist that I should have said something before she printed the check, but my party defended me, explaining that they had asked for the check and boxes while I was in the restroom, unaware of what had happened. I left feeling incredibly disappointed--not just because of the mistake, but because of how the situation was handled. As someone with celiac disease, I rely on restaurants to take food allergies seriously, and I was deeply let down by both the kitchen's mistake and the server's response. I truly hope that Ruby Slipper improves its handling of food allergies in the future to prevent others from experiencing what I did today. read more

While visiting New Orleans, we stopped by around 10 AM to put our names down for a party of 7. Big mistake, and we knew it. The host was so understanding and explained that it'd be about 2 hours and offered to split us into a table of 3 and 4, possibly near each other, since that division may allow us to be seated in 30-45 mins. We politely declined. We had some cocktails at the bar - the Ruby Slipper ($10, orange pomegranate mimosa) tasted more like a standard mimosa but still delicious - and waited. The bartender was also notably friendly and patient. After we learned that half our party went to the wrong Ruby Slipper and would be late, we told the host we'll take the two tables. They were so accommodating, and about 1.5 hours after arriving, we were seated. Three of the four of us opted for the Costa Rican ($12), which was quite satisfying. I didn't realize the crispy plantains were chips as opposed to fried plantains, but I was pleased with the half an avocado on each plate. In a mix of starvation and delicious food, we all licked our plates clean. Also, as someone who requires no less than 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning to get my day started, our waitress was very attentive and generously refilled our waters and coffees throughout the meal. Our friends for the other table arrived, and I tried the Salmon Benedict, which was rich and flavorful - definitely not a bad option. This was one of my favorite things about visiting New Orleans, my seat mate on flight in told me to go to Ruby Slippers so we went in for brunch the first morning in town, had the sweetest and downright cute waitress named Aurryana who suggested some amazing things I would have not tried. There were just 2 of us but we ordered food for 4-6 and everything was so very delicious! The iced coffee was so good I crave it a week later! The apple pie beignets were out of this world! Loved the menu where you can order 3 different eggs Benny and every single one was so good I couldn't choose a favorite. We ended up going back the next day and had a different waitress who was also so good but my heart belonged to Aurryana. The chefs put so much love into the food, the bartenders and baristas make the drinks with love, and the employees were all so friendly and kind! I'll always remember my NOLA trip and think fondly about the yummy food at ruby slippers, I can't wait to go back! We have visited New Orleans a number of times. Usually we stay in The Quarter. This time we stayed in The Garden District. A friend recommended this place for brunch and let me tell you that it did not disappoint! It all started when we walked in the door. For our group of 6 it was going to be a 45 minute wait. We decided to order some drinks at the bar. That's when we met Thomas. The guy behind the bar. He was simply amazing. Asked us how many there were and if we would like to sit at the bar instead of waiting. He knew that a group of people where about to leave. We sat down and looked at the menu. It all sounded so good. One ordered the Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict another ordered The Southern Breakfast, The Peacemaker, Costa Rican, Brioche French Toast, and The Southern BLT. Let's just say we all left a little heavier and very much satisfied. Could not have asked for a better experience! We will def be coming back! I typically never write reviews, but this was SO good I had to! My husband and I were greeted by a wonderful host who was very helpful in assisting us in understanding the waitlist. We sat after 30 minutes of waiting, but it was well worth it! Our waitress, Izzy, was so joyful and enthusiastic! She was inventive to our LOADS of questions and answered them patiently and with great responses, unlike some of the other servers at establishments, we have been to. She told me to get the Peacemaker with the Crawfish and Grit cake, and the Chicken St. Charles, and man was she right! My husband is a big guy, so he got the Trifecta which was awesome!! Also, we are typically not day drinkers, but Izzy hyped us up so much, and we both ended up down 4 drinks by the end of the meal. I even told myself to write a review about her last time I came; but this time really topped it! She has the friendliest, warmest smile and sounds VERY HAPPY to be at work. We came here over the weekend to visit Saturday and Sunday and it was absolutely amazing!! The atmosphere, to the host/manager Earl , to our server Jenna, to the food runner and everyone else! The food was delicious, a wonderful tour of local specialities with excellent presentation. Each food was well balanced, great textures and flavours. We particularly enjoyed the atmosphere, which was more informal than expected. Dom, our server, was fantastic and extremely compassionate and quick. When my order wasn't correct he went out of his way to make my brunch perfect! Where to begin... Let's start with Tommy, an amazing young woman that went out of her way to ensure we had a top notch experience! She is lovely, attentive and thoughtful. On to the food... We stopped at Ruby Slipper during our trip, and unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience. The food quality was underwhelming compared to other spots we've tried, and service fell short. Our waitress even spilled our mimosa flight across the table and onto us, which really set the tone for the visit. While in New Orleans with my mom we stopped off to have brunch here at the Ruby Slipper. This place is definitely hopping all the time the line was running out the door. The service was fast and they had a very friendly staff. We sat at the bar where Amy Keller was our server and she was absolutely amazing!!! The location is on the corner, and you could drive right past it if you didn't know what you're looking for (and I didn't, so trust me for that!). When you walk in, there's a bar seating area, as well as some seating on the main level, and then there's a loft type level with more seating available. I'm glad I was there on a random weekday, as I feel that the line to get in could probably get long on the weekend. Service was prompt, drinks were replenished as needed, and the chicken and waffles were just as I had dreamed they would be. Now, I know that not everyone loves chicken and waffles, but fret not, as they have all kinds of other breakfast options for you to enjoy. Your visit will not be in vain!

When I was ready to leave, I asked for a to-go box because I couldn't finish my meal. Instead of offering assistance, my server simply brought me a container and walked away. Because of my visual impairment, boxing my own food isn't always easy, and a small gesture of help would have gone a long way. As a result, I ended up leaving food behind. The saving grace of the experience was another waiter who was incredibly kind and attentive. He made sure my mimosa glass stayed full, checked in regularly, and even provided a mimosa to go. His customer service is the reason this review isn't significantly lower. The patio atmosphere was also less relaxing than I had hoped. During brunch, a group of children were running through the dining area, weaving between tables and chairs while the adults paid little attention. It created a chaotic environment that made it difficult to enjoy what was supposed to be a peaceful meal. On a positive note, the black beans, pico de gallo, and mimosas were enjoyable. Overall, between the disappointing service, unavailable menu item, lack of accommodation, and noisy atmosphere, I don't see myself returning.
