    Beignet-wich
    Emanuel W.

Here in town for another round of Tales of the Cocktail and I stopped by to get lunch while waiting for my room to be ready. I had the All American Beignet-wich, which was incentive and delicious. I also had the cheese grits which were very average for me. I did appreciate the $3 lunch beer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very quiet in here but I feel like it could get a little wild during some times of the day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The charbroiled oysters were good. Got there and was not advised of when the kitchen planned to close so missed out on dessert. Just based on my experience, I can say I tried it.

Located in the Renaissance Hotel, just a block away from Bourbon, sits Legacy Kitchen Tacklebox. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very nice upscale bar and restaurant featuring a tap bar as well as a full bar service area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wanted a snack to help me power through the day till dinner. I can't help but to have have some comforts: red beans and rice, crawfish etoufee, and gumbo. I tell you, what a treat. Good flavors. I like all of them equally. I would definitely visit again next time I am in town.

    Stuffed avocado on toast ($16.95)

Food:2/5 Service:4/5 Ambience:4/5 I ordered a stuffed avocado on toast for breakfast. It was ok, but it only came with one piece of toast! It also only came with 3 mozzarella balls. I was pretty dissatisfied with the portions. The food came out relatively quick. Good service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Interior was interestingly lined with different displays. Unique ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall I would not recommend this place, it was ok.

Let's cut to the chase...the food is Okay. Now for the details. I work in the area so it was a short walk to meet my brother here for a quick lunch. We opted to sit at the bar. Our bartender was cool. It's Mardi Gras season so there's a couple of seasonal drinks. I tried the pineapple parade drink. It was good, weak...but good still. I expected that in a touristy area. Everything is always as far as drinks are concerned. We got 2 orders of Chargrilled oysters which is usually by the dozen but they sell theirs with 8. I was shocked to see that came up to $28/an order. while oysters can be expensive, this pricing is another tourist trap. They tasted decent tho. I got the salmon with Brussels sprouts for my entree and my brother got the fried seafood platter. The Brussels sprouts were honestly the star on my plate. The salmon was pretty good paired with it. My brother's seafood platter was piled and had a lot of food. Definitely enough to share. Personal preference though, I feel it could've been seasoned a little better. While I know this isn't a rave review, I have to say, the food was okay. The prices just don't match the taste. Again...it was okay. lol

Stopped in on a Sunday night and still got delicious food. Service was good, food was very tasty, and the drinks were good too. I had the New Orleans trio and my wife had the red fish. She got a side of the cabbage to go and it was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good spot to check out for some local flavors and a nice atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Beignet Bites half cinnamon half sugar

This place seems to be hit and miss on food and service. Had exceptional service Sat morning with amazing beignet bites and scrumptious breakfast sandwich. The female server was attentive and helpful. A great experience. So we went back Sun morning and order beignets and gravy - yuck... chewy beignets clearly just heated up. So different from the fantastic mini ones we received the day before. Service was slow and inattentive, exact opposite of our prior experience. So a solid three stars.... might be fantastic, might be awful.

Bananas foster bread pudding w vanilla bean ice cream
    Lemuel Y.

I only had dessert and drinks, so that's what I'm reviewing. The bananas foster bread pudding w vanilla bean ice cream is a must have. Their bar setup is visibly small, but the selection is notable. They actually have some Haitian rum on deck, which you're not likely to find at many venues. Also they had some interesting looking mezcal selections that I will be back to sample. Service was friendly and excellent and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance was was whole vibe with the musical selections that were varied and at perfect decibel to enjoy but not interrupt conversations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely worth a visit if you're visiting the 504. It's in the Renaissance hotel on Common. I wish my memory served me to remember names readily, but one of the bartenders, a local, that works the day shift til 3 was a whole vibe. Even if the food had not been to my liking I'd have been back to drink off her representation alone.

This was recommended by an Uber driver, saying she had a great time celebrating her birthday that she and her fam came back a second time the same week. That sold Hubbers, so he took it upon himself to decide this is where next dinner is. It was only a few minutes' walk from our hotel, so it was pretty convenient. I wasn't really hungry since I had a snack a couple of hours prior, but I thought the Grand Tower was a good idea to share with my party of 4. Paired that with a Bloody Mary. It is plenty for a starter. 6 fresh shucked oysters, 6 charbroiled oysters, 6 shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon dip and crawfish remoulade. It's practically a meal for two! The oysters were fantastic, but I think my favorite here are the dip and remoulade. Loved the smoked aroma from the salmon and the crawfish tails on the remoulade. Don't get me wrong: the oysters were great as well as the shrimp (bigger than normal) but the salmon dip did it for me! My party ordered their own dishes, but I was set with sharing the tower. And to finish it off: an order of beignets to cleanse the palate. Someone in my party said they liked it better than Cafe du Monde's version! FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 4. Our server, Tiana was attentive in a non-stalkerish way. VALUE: 4. More than fair! PARKING: Street only as far as I know. I didn't see any lots nearby. OVERALL: 4. Gotta give credit to Hubbers for the good call. Would recommend!

As a tourist, I like this restaurant! I picked this restaurant cuz I lived in renaissance hotel. This place is pretty popular for local people I had a chance to try their charbroiled oyster! Omg it is so gooooood Also I love their recommendation of daily catch gulf fish! So good As a tourist, I had a chance to try their local dishes, they are good and within reasonable price! It is a great place to dine at! Not that touristy, and waiter's recommendation is great!

Guys, it was THE BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH I'D EVER HAD. It was lava hot, juicy, and greasy. It was also absolutely delicious. I was concerned that the thigh meat was going to taste different. But I could not tell. The fries were crinkle cut, but were seasoned well. Didn't even need ketchup for them. The place is very clean and they had 80s music playing in the background, my favorite decade of music. Not surprising, being an 80s kid. The damage all told, including a tip, was $25. Is it expensive? Yes. Is the quality and quantity of the food commensurate to the price? Also yes. Is it worth the hype? ABSOLUTELY YES. I was also informed there's a Hammond location. I will definitely bring my family there, as it's closer, to try them out as well.

We were curious about and not many restaurants offer fresh made pork cracklings. Usually you have to buy it at a local market or know someone. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They briefly went over a few recommendations. We started with of course, order of adobo fresh pork cracklings. Adobo or traditional** crispy pork belly, adobo sauce, topped with garlic peanut rub Southerns Queso burger - 6 oz. beef patty*, pickled jalapeño, queso, beer battered onion ring with order of fries. Tender meal - Choose your spice level. 3 jumbo chicken tenders, fries, and tender sauce. (Mild) Southerns Original Chicken Sandwich - Choose your spice level. Boneless chicken thigh, Yuzu aioli, slaw, housemade pickle. (Mild) I was curious about the Phuket Sauce. So I got an order too. This tastes great! Not spicy at all. Do not let the pepper fool you. It has a little kick but not spicy at all. All are well seasoned. Few of them you can choose your spice level. We all washed down with fountain drinks. They do offer catering services and possibly call ahead ordering. Please reach out to them for options. If you are in the mood for something different but great food. Give them a try if in the area.

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.
