Great brunch spot, lots of drink options like mimosas and bloody Mary's. We had quite the wait for a table for 4 people at about 10am, then they had put our cell number in wrong so didn't contact the right number when our table was ready. We ended up waiting an hour for a table, and it wasn't all that busy. The fresh OJ was good, not the best I've had. Food was decent but not the best. I had the Costa Rican breakfast. The salsa didn't have the best flavor. Shrimp and grits was mediocre. Nice spot for a casual brunch and good for groups. It's very loud inside and the air was blasting so we were freezing. Overall not the best experience due to the wait and table mixup, but a decent spot if you have time to kill. read more

This place used to be a good place to go. I've been coming since it's opened. I've ordered different things multiple times. It was good before, but I went today with a friend and we both had an awful experience. We both got peach Bellini's. They came out and looked funky. They also tasted funky and didn't taste right. I asked about them and apparently the bartender forgot to put in the peach schnapps. They didn't inform us at all. The salmon omelette tasted synthetic. The fruit cup also was just so sad. It looked like all rotted fruit. The shrimp and grits tasted like frozen shrimp. The busboy was actually our waiter, and when I complained, he blew it off and the manager never came over. I was also charged for the bellini's, which we sent back and got bloody Mary's but those were also very watered down. I am never going back here again. If I could give 0 stars. Awful. We were seated immediately, then waited 20 minutes for someone to stop by our table to take our drink order. This person said that our server was busy with another table but she guesses she can take our food order, we get our drinks the coke was flat, which normally wouldnt be a big issue but as it seemed like no one was assigned to us, no one came by to ask if we needed anything. Only once the manager came to bring us the food were we able to get a replacement drink. Now we have our food and drinks, everything was fine, the food was fantastic. After we were halfway done with our food, we had someone(which we later learned was our assigned server) come over to ask if everything was fine, but when we finished our food, we waited another 10-15 minutes for someone to bring us the check/or ask if we needed it or a box, until finally we got fed up with waiting and feeling invisible that we had to go to the bar and say "we dont know who our server is, but could we get the check" at this point, we were pretty fed up with the lack of care, so finally i called over the manager and explained to him our frustrations and how we were never assigned a server, and how all the other workes seemed to be in groups talking and it felt like we were invisible, especially when we're looking around waiting for someone to come by to get refills/offer box/check/ etc. But i dont think it was the other workers' fault, as they probably thought we were fine because our server shouldve stopped by regularly, but no one did. I think he was shirking his responsibilities. The manager apologized and then about a minute later, the said server come up to us and asked if he did in fact did come by to ask if everything is fine, i said yes, but only after we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order and after we were halfway done with our food, and only that one time. We still waited 10-15 minutes for our check. He was so passive as a waiter that we did not even know who would receive the supposed tip. After that, he then walked away and had an arguement with the manager and was asked to leave, but he just ignored the manager and just got louder until both him and the manager went outside and had a talk, now we were waiting for some sort of resolution, made us feel very strange to be honest. We were seemingly invisible for the entirety of our visit, but now suddenly a scene was being raised because i decided to speak up to the manager, didnt expect them to foot the bill but i wanted to pass along my concerns so that it could be avoided in the future. While the manager was outside with the server, someone else came by and tried to process our card for the check, but in the end they ended up taking care of it. I wish we couldve spoken to the manager more after as to ease the tension and to hopefully come back for a return visit, but as it stood, with them just arguing outside, we dont think we'll come back to this location at least. So in short, food was great, the service(or maybe just our specific server) was unreliable, inconsistent and in the end, hostile. read more

Why haven't I been here before? I can't believe that I waited so long. I should have eaten inside but I ordered take out. I ordered the Chicken St Charles and my husband ordered the Gulf Shrimp Omelet. My Benedict was sooooo good. When I cut through the yummy goodness the egg just ooozzed over and I could hear the crunch of the chicken breast that just added to the excitement of the first bite. I was not disappointed.....I added a little bacon jelly to my pork Tasso cream sauce for a little twang and I was definitely delighted. The Gulf Shrimp Omelet was light and fluffy like a cloud. The shrimp were perfectly prepared and paired perfectly with the Swiss cheese that he selected with his omelet. You have the option to choose the type of cheeses that you want in the omelet. We will definitely go back again. I can now understand why I see so many people waiting to get in the location on Magazine street. Long story short, don't go here. The kitchen manager was extremely rude and felt the need to express it verbally and loud as our table was RIGHT next to the kitchen. After overhearing his exclamation, we were honestly afraid he would spit or do something to our food. He then went on to argue with us through a wall about how our original order wasn't wrong and it was. His name is Walt. And the staff/ service was no better... food was late, cold, our server came 20min after we sat and made mistake after mistake. We went here for my boyfriend's birthday brunch a couple of weeks ago. Walking in, the restaurant was clean, bright, and inviting. I had put us on the wait list via Yelp and our wait time was nearly perfectly accurate to what Yelp had told me- roughly 15 minutes. We were sat and our waitress was Ashley. She was very attentive and nice to us the whole time that we were there, even though it seemed like she had some tougher tables. Gotta give her props for that! She helped us choose between some food items (we've been to the one on Canal many times, so choosing between the delicious dishes is hard for us.) Finally helped us settle on the Chicken St. Charles and the Croque Madame; both of which were great. Bartenders made me some delicious Irish Coffee drinks as well. Can't wait to go back! This time i selected a benedict made with fried green tomatoes, creole hollandaise, bacon, eggs- it was just heaven. I split that with my friend in exchange for the fried chicken benedict, also delish! Everyone's food looked amazing and they all just raved. I saw omeletes, shrimp and grits, pancakes, benedicts - you name it. The pancakes were split by the table- they were pecan praline pancakes on special and they were perfect! I get it's busy, and I wouldn't be upset if they just told you the honest truth about how long you were waiting. when we arrived at the diner they told us it would be a 20-25 minute wait. However, we waited over an hour. Then, when we asked for an update on getting seated they said we were third in line. We witnessed 4 groups go in before us. We don't mind waiting for a restaurant, but at least tell us the honest truth. Also, the hostess was snobby. If you aren't willing to make this a several hour excursion, don't bother. There's several other breakfast places where the food is better and the service is SIGNIFICANTLY better. read more

What did disturb me was that they didn't make my dish a priority after they waited 20 minutes after I ordered to notify me of the lack in supply. What can I say....I can add myself to the waitlist for this place from my wonderful Yelp app and this location is never too crowded like the others. I like the cranberry mimosas and my hubby likes the pancakes. I tried the chicken st Charles and I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars. The sauce that they put on top is delicious but they don't give you that much. Next time I'll try the bananas foster pain perdu. The shrimp and grits is okay, not the best so I don't order that from here. You can't go wrong with pancakes and bacon, can you? I love this location. We happened upon the newest Ruby Slipper location while spending time on Magazine Street, between appointments. I was here last summer when it was Brick and Spoon and, I have to say, I was quite disappointed to see that Brick and Spoon was no more. I quite enjoyed my one and only visit there. However, we were heading to another brunch spot when Ruby Slipper caught our eye. I had to fast due to a doctor's appointment, so I was famished! As is not the case with most Ruby Slipper locations, we were sat immediately. This place is very large - probably one of their largest locations. I figure folks probably also haven't caught wind that it's open as well. After being seated, we were promptly greeted by the very sassy, "Michelle." She is a very spunky lady with a quick wit and provides some enjoyable banter. We got our coffees right away. I ordered the Skinny Eggs Florentine or, as Michelle called it, "The Skinny Flo," and my friend ordered a salad that had fried goat cheese, candied pecans, greens, red onions, and a delightful vinaigrette. The food came out within 10 minutes. My omelet was cooked perfectly. Egg whites with spinach, goat cheese and Portobello mushrooms. It was just what this hungry belly needed! Our coffees were refilled without being asked (always appreciated), but after that first refill, service began to slow up a bit and I had to ask for a water refill. Not the worst thing in the world but it is nice to have your needs anticipated. All in all, I would highly recommend and definitely will be back. Hopefully, we will get Michelle again. And if you go, you should ask for her! She helped to lighten the mood on an otherwise serious day. Much appreciated! read more

Our first day at NOLA we tried to go to the location at the french quarter, but the wait time was 1hour 30 minutes so we did not even try. After driving around we saw this other location so we went our last day before driving back home. We came here for breakfast around 8am and it was perfect because we were the only ones there. The server was very friendly and attentive. The service was just perfect! I ordered the Migas breakfast (without the sausage because I'm vegetarian) and it was so good and so different! I really liked it. My boyfriend had an omelet with a lot of veggies of his choice and he said it was really good. I also had a coffee and it was good as well. Probably top 5 worst breakfasts I've ever eaten. Took forever to get the order and when it came out the food was so cold and disgusting. The breakfast potatoes was so salty it was inedible. I ordered crispy bacon and it came out half cooked , eggs and biscuit was ice cold. Just horrible. Ordered an orange juice and it was luke warm like it was sitting out. The waitress Renee made me feel uncomfortable commenting on my hair. I didn't complain , I just wasted 90% of the food and took 3 sips out my OJ. This location has a nice comfortable rustic Nola vibe to it. I love their different menu variations of food and drinks for everyone.
