There was someone playing live music at certain times of the day. The room was clean and had a simple but nice setup. The shower had great water temperature and pressure. We had an ocean view room which was worth the extra cost. Waking up to the beach every morning was so satisfying. Reading on the balcony while listening to the ocean sounds and watching the waves was everything that I needed. The hotel has beach towels that are easily checked out through a machine. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available first come first serve to hotel guests which is very convenient. There was a heated outdoor pool, a volleyball net and a few games inside. We ate all of our meals at the hotel. We ate at the grab and go food spot. I ordered the feta and spinach croissant, a chocolate chip scone and a cappuccino. We also ate dinner at the latitude 30. I ordered a ceasar salad and calamari. For breakfast at latitude 30, I ordered the French toast dish that comes bacon and I ordered a side of eggs. We also ate at the fine dining restaurant onsite where I ordered the seared scallops dish and the vanilla crème brûlée. All of the meals that we ate at the hotel were very tasty. The restaurant staff were all kind and the utensils were spotless. I believe food may have also been served at the bar near the pool, but I didn't try any food from there during my visit. I really had an enjoyable time at this hotel and I plan to return in the future.

I also liked seeing that they would periodically walk around and clean. Good spot to hang out or work. Although it can be a bit loud if you're working and making calls, there is an outdoor area if you need somewhere quieter. It was refreshing to see that it wasn't the usual cake like kind, plus not the ultra sweet kind either. More bread like with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The fish and potatoes had a nice flavor but unfortunately the cold food spoiled the experience. Since I was a guest of my sister I didn't say anything about the cold food. What a disappointment. Maybe when I return things will be better.

Haley checked in with us often, and after some time she realized we hadn't received our dinner. She went to check on it, and there was a technical issue with their handheld and it hadn't gotten rung in. My husband and I weren't upset because we understand how it is in the restaurant industry, and sometimes technology fails. We didn't ask for a manager, but one came out and spoke to us and apologized, which we appreciated. We received dinner shortly after that, and it was some of the best seafood we've ever had. We ordered the creole cheesecake and chocolate cake to take home with us, and they were both phenomenal as well. When it came time to pay, my husbands card wasn't working properly, so he went to grab mine from the car. Haley was patient with us the entire time. It truly was a magical night we were able to share together and we can't thank Cobalt enough for helping us achieve that.

Don't even know where to begin, It was Mother's Day, and we have been to Ruby Slipper everytime we come to town. So gad we joined the waitlist ahead of time.. Soon as we got there, there was a blonde (she hasnt been there on previous visits) who was absolutely so rude and unprofessional while greeting us, we looked at each other like it was a joke. But then she snapped at us again, we turned to just leave (party of 8) when a girl with a mobility boot came walking up, and started talking to us, the blonde then turned to her and started being nasty to her. Boot girl, completely ignored her, and took us to her table, on the way boot girl apologized for blonde's behavior... Once seated Tiffany took great care of us, from here on out.. Maybe it was because it was so busy but the food quality wasnt nearly as good as past visits. But we still love the place.. Please bring back the corned beef hash, and crab cake benny.. and get rid of that nasty host, she is definitely not the first face you want people to see when coming in.. Disappointing Experience at Ruby Slipper Breakfast I recently had a frustrating experience at Ruby Slipper Breakfast that I feel compelled to share. Upon arriving, we found the indoor temperature to be uncomfortably cold, so we kindly asked to be put back on the waiting list for an outdoor table. To our surprise, we were seated at a bar outside that was covered in bird droppings, which was not the most pleasant setting. To make matters worse, we were placed in the blazing sun, making it difficult to enjoy our meal. After finally placing our order, we found ourselves waiting an incredibly long time for our food and appetizers to arrive. The delay only added to our frustration and made the whole experience quite disappointing. Overall, I had high expectations for Ruby Slipper Breakfast, but the combination of the uncomfortable seating, poor service, and long wait times left much to be desired. I hope they can improve on these aspects in the future. read more

Saturday morning breakfast. Waited for 25 minutes for a table that was sitting empty from the moment we walked in. Extremely slow service even though they weren't that busy since there were empty tables. 3 of us ordered: 2 Bloody Mary's, a signature Mimosa, make own omelet, plate with 2 different eggs Benedict and eggs with potatoes and biscuit. After waiting an inordinate amount of Rhine for our drinks to arrive while others around us walked in - got seated - and served drinks, all of our drinks were far less than spectacular. Good arrived - potatoes were completely burnt and biscuit was hard as a rock. Called the manager since our server was no where to be seen, and he brought over new potatoes and biscuit right away that were done perfectly. Sad thing was that he said he'd provide us with a dessert IF they served dessert, but they don't , so..... The rest of the food was the redeeming factor here. read more

My 5 girlfriends and I came to Orange Beach for the weekend to relax at the beach. We are all Louisiana girls and recognized the Ruby Slipper as a New Orleans favorite, and decided to stop there for brunch on the way out of town. The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed sitting in their outdoor area. We had no idea that the restaurant had just opened two weeks prior, until the very friendly manager came over and spoke with us. We were waited on by Ms. Tammy who was quick, helpful, and had a wonderfully friendly personality and made sure we were taken care of. We collectively tried the Louisiana Omlette, Eggs Benedict, Pancakes, and Fried Green Tomatoes, which were all delicious and artfully prepared. This is definitely a must-go brunch or lunch location when you are in the Gulf Shores area, especially because it brings a little bit of New Orleans to the beach! read more

Starting a rainy Thursday in Orange Beach? We just finished our first breakfast at this New Orleans, LA inspired restaurant and I have to say this place really brings NOLA to AL.... We started with the Bacon Bloody Mary (don't laugh... It was a perfect starter!), Berry Mimosa and Irish Coffee. The menu is full of their unique twists on omelettes, pancakes, French toast, and Benedict. We opted for the Southern Breakfast which came with two eggs, thick cut applewood bacon, grits, fried green tomato, and a hot thick buttermilk biscuit with a cinnamon butter. Everything was perfect in our book. Clean, great cooking, and great service (thanks to our server Cha-Cha). My only negative comment (typical of a NOLA inspired restaurant) is I had to ask for my Tabasco. The table had Crystal hot sauce instead. Great job to the owners keeping things authentic! read more

Wow... what a pleasant surprise, we came in with a group of 11 of us. At first the blonde host was very rude and unpleasant, we almost just left. But the host on the poor knee scooter stepped in and reassured us she would get us seated promptly, and she did! We were welcomed warmly by Megan and her trainee storm. Megan was beyond excellent, taking time to give us her recommendations, but most importantly she treated our 4 young children as people, allowing them the time to order for themselves and answer her questions about their meal. Most servers are far to busy to "deal" with kids. Our entrees took quite awhile to come out, but our coffees and drinks stayed full. But the food was worth the wait! Sooooo good! We will definitely return based on the service alone, but please do something about that host, she definitely isnt the first impression you want.. read more

I was really disappointed with both the food and service during my visit. Food: I ordered the trifecta, and it was a disaster. The fried chicken had pieces of *plastic* in it--completely unacceptable. The shrimp was cold and still had the skin on, which was off-putting, and the biscuits were rock hard. Nothing was enjoyable. Service: Even though the restaurant closes at 1, we arrived at 11:30 and were seated immediately. However, things went downhill from there. Our waiter took *20 minutes* just to bring out our drinks, didn't even ask if we needed anything, and just dropped them off without a word. Another 20 minutes passed before they came back to take our food order. It felt like the staff was more focused on cleaning up and closing the place early rather than paying attention to the customers. Overall, a really bad experience. I won't be returning. read more

This cafe came highly recommended and after trying the food, we agree. The menu was creative and makes you want to try everything on drink and food sections. The inside was a bit loud and if you get under a vent, can be cold but the porch was very pleasant. We had a few issues with menu items being not available at 9:30 am, dishes coming out at separate times, the previously mentioned cold vent and an inexperienced impolite waitstaff BUT our waitress, Krystal, and a good new manager who is wanting to make needed tweaks prevented our honeymoon meal from being a disaster. It could have been a walk out situation but instead we stayed and enjoyed a variety of eggs Benedict, pomegranate mimosa and Hello Sunshine (gin and grapefruit cocktail). I have now eaten at all the New Orleans locations, Pensacola and their newest location, Orange Beach. I must say the quality of the food and the staff remains top notch no matter what location. The location was gorgeous, it was nice being in a brand new restaurant. I love the shirts that the staff wears. This time I wanted try something new, the Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict that I had not had before, but I still wanted the Blackstone that I love and now they offer you the Peacemaker, you can choose two different Benedicts for the undecided just like me! This is by far my favorite brunch spot! I have visited the locations in New Orleans and Pensacola before, but this was my first time at the Orange Beach location. I took my family here on our very first "Girls' Trip" and they loved it too! Our server, Tammy, just made the whole experience awesome! She noticed our New Orleans Saints attire very quickly and struck up convo about being from Louisiana. She knew the menu inside and out, could answer any questions we had (which we had a lot), and made very great suggestions for each person. When you go, please ask for Tammy! I have heard nothing but good things, so when you guys opened one in our area, I couldn't wait to try it. I couldn't have asked for a better brunch experience. My service at varying restaurants over the past few days has been so-so; but, the staff here is amazing. Cassie was our server and was great, efficient, and very friendly. She entertained my daughter when she didn't have to. We couldn't have asked for better. The hostess Cici takes the cake. She truly went above and beyond. I mean really...who remembers a hostess? I can say I never do. That's how much of an impact she had on my family. My first time experience at Ruby Slipper Cafe was extremely satisfying. I came on a Saturday morning and decided to sit at the bar. I ordered the Sweet Heat Chicken and French Toast Bites with a side of scrambled eggs with cheese with a Ruby Mimosa and Peach Bellini. The specialty entree was delightful. I loved how the some of the French toast bites were crunchy and some were soft. The chicken was fried crispy and paired well with the bites and strawberry, although I would have like the chicken to be more savory. Both drinks were fantastic! Horrible customer service! The waitress dumped a huge amount of scalding hot coffee on me and my son's fiancee. It saturated and ruined her leather purse. The waitress just blotted up the puddles of hot coffee on the table and floor while we tried to blot our clothes. I asked for another table and they refused! So, we ate our breakfast in sopping wet clothes, table and floor! The waitress said she was sorry as did the manager but did NOTHING to compensate us. I am extremely angered that the manager did not even offer to compensate our meal.....unheard of in the food service industry! We paid our bill which even included a tip and left. Our first visit- it won't be our last! Yesterday morning, as we ended our Orange Beach vacation with family, my wife and I had the best brunch experience ever! Food was beyond delicious and Anna's smile warmed our table and the entire room. She and and Nate served us, making us feel like we were old friends, catching up. It was the perfect start to a pleasant 5 to 6 hour drive to our Sparkleberry Farm home, in Wellington, AL. This place has some of the best breakfast food anywhere. The prices are good and what made our experience most memorable was our server Rand. He was moving at light speed and always had a grin on his face even though they were very busy and he got quadruple sat within a 15 minute period. He was also running all the food that came up while checking on other tables. He went above and beyond for us and did the little things customers want. This guy should be teaching a class to servers on pleasing the customers and getting good tips. Visited the Ruby Slipper while in town for a Memorial Day break, even though I'm from New Orleans. And of course, just as good as the flagship locations in NOLA! This location was quite busy with the MDW weekend crowd (and even though there were many that did not understand the concept of social distancing), and they rocked it. Peacemaker with Chicken St. Charles & Eggs Cochon were killer, biscuits fresh and fluffy. Pig candy bacon bites to start were the perfect combination of salty and sweet. Absolutely delicious. This was my first experience and it was amazing. I'm on a weekend sabbatical and decided to eat brunch at the cafe today. I was so impressed by their Covid protocols. Menus are QR codes that you scan and it takes you right to their website which has specials and the everyday menu...no germy menus. And the QR codes were on every other table so social distancing was observed. Masks are required for entry. Hannah was my server and she was helpful in deciding to have the seasonal beignets (King Cake!) and biscuits with gravy. Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavors were divine. But seriously--whether you're a local or just visiting, you have to try Duck's Diner - Gulf Shores. It's a true local favorite, and it keeps getting busier now that the tourists have discovered it too. One of my personal favorites is the Creole Shrimp & Grits--a true classic packed with awesome flavor. They are definitely not skimpy on the sauce or the shrimp, so be ready because you're probably going to need a to-go box. More of a burger person? Heck yeah--the Cowboy Burger is always a strong favorite and a solid choice. Want a sandwich instead? Go with the Reuben on Rye. It's definitely a winner and never disappoints. Need something to drink? They've got you covered with everything from good coffee and sweet tea to a Screwdriver, which happens to be one of my favorites. Overall, you really can't go wrong stopping in here. Sometimes I almost wish y'all wouldn't because it gets so busy , but I'd hate for anyone to miss out on one of the best local spots around. If you stop in, tell them the local biker "1/2 Time" sent ya! I won't get anything for it, but at least they'll know I was true to my word and gave them the solid review I promised.

You can eat out on the patio to fully enjoy the water view but I'm opting for the nice inside with air conditioning. So far I've had mostly great experiences with the food and service here. My most recent visit was when they were slammed with multiple events going on and the service seemed very understaffed and strained but they still got my food out very fast and still were able to provide decent service to me despite all the chaos going on. So this one exception to all my past great experiences was certainly understandable under the conditions of the time. Their house-made strawberry butter served with their fresh bread makes this spot worth a visit!

I asked to heat my plate up and they were baffled someone would complain about poor food quality. For a $200 dinner, it was disappointing. There was 12 of us, at least $1200-1500 was spent on this meal and so many people were not satisfied.

We also had boiled shrimp to start and most were fine but none were deveined and a few were mushy as well. The best food we had was our friends crab and cheese bites which were, admittedly by the waitress, distributor supplied frozen and fried, not made in house, but were by far the highlight. Not sure what that says about the experience. The drinks were also a little in the pricey side for the amount t of alcohol and quality. We ended up spending $100 plus tip for one mixed drink, the two entrees, the boiled shrimp appetizer, and a soda. This was by far the most expensive meal we had on our trip, coming at $30 more than the equivalent at two other restaurants that were arguably a nicer setting. The place was a bit run down with a lot of trash on the floor and the hostess had to bus the table before we sat down. For $50 this would've been a 3.5 star review but at $100 for two people, 2 stars all day.
