We celebrated my son's 19th birthday here on Saturday, and he chose Ruby's Diner because it brought back such a special childhood memory for him. When there was a Ruby's location in Mission Valley, he loved getting their Chocolate Mint Shake and Ruby's Burger, so he wanted to recreate that memory for his birthday. From the moment we arrived, the host was so welcoming and friendly, and we were seated right away. The entire experience was wonderful! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and even the customers around us joined in by wishing my son a Happy Birthday. When the employees gathered around to sing Happy Birthday to him, it made the moment even more special. What a beautiful way to celebrate 19 years and create another lovely memory together! Thank you, Ruby's Diner, for helping make my son's birthday so memorable! We truly appreciate the wonderful service and warm atmosphere.

Wow from the minute we got in there the the look was just so amazing 50 style restaurant so clean so nice there's a train running around in the ceiling here's big huge model airplanes in the ceilings they play old '50s style music all the time the ambiance is great me and my wife both had omelets they were great they came with a side odor of baby and biscuits that's the southern style it's so good The service was great our waitress's name was Risa she was super friendly and she told us about the other restaurant on the pier thank you for a good man Ruby!

Came here with my boyfriend as we were intrigued by the menu when passing by because we were hungry. When we got inside to wait to be seated, the manager (Ricky) was approaching and seated a party of 2 that arrived minutes after us as we were standing there waiting and totally ignored us. The hostess sat us after seating a prior party. We were then met by our waiter, Marco, who took our drink orders. When he arrived with the drinks, he took our order. After that we never received any customer service from him! And no one came by to ask us if we needed a drink refill or wanted to order anything else. We ordered the crispy green bean fries as a starter. My boyfriend ordered the BLTA sandwich and I ordered the Super Burger. There was nothing super about the burger! It kept falling apart as I was eating it, even with the toothpick in place. The fries were bland and soggy. The only thing good about our meal was the crispy green bean fries (and ranch, which we asked our server Marco more of, but never received it until we had to ask a second time and received it when we were already done eating). The ambiance is cool. It has that diner feel. I'm giving a negative star for the restroom cleanliness... ewww disgusting! There were no seat covers and the feminine hygiene disposable bin was full and not clean, therefore leaving an unpleasant sight. The toilet paper dispensers were empty and low on toilet paper just hang out for you to grab. Do the restrooms not get cleaned or maintained?

Caught lunch while shopping at the outlets. They had a corn beef hash plate (my breakfast go to meal). Cooked just right. They also offer beers and cocktails.

My family and I had a great experience at this location! It's been so long since we've had ruby's diner and we loved that the ambiance hasn't changed. It's still giving that old school vibe that we love and cherish! The staff here was amazing, super friendly & prompt! We throughly enjoyed our meals. Plenty of seating inside and outside. We would love to dine here again!

Can't go wrong with Ruby's Diner. Been to this location a few times with the family. My wife and I decided to dine in this weekend, January 17th. We were greeted when we walked in right away. The host didn't make a big deal with us bringing in our stroller. The place is the same. Old school looking, clean with friendly staffs. We ordered their onion rings and fish & chips. Did not disappoint with the flavor and freshness. My wife loved their onions rings and one of best fish and chips I've ever had. Juicy on the inside, not dry as some other places would have served it. However, it's only served with 2 pieces of fish. Their onion rings could have been serve with better portions as well. They're not cheap with sauces, as we asked for more tartar sauce and delivered 2 to our table. Will definitely go back here again.

Ruby's Diner reminds me of college. We had a location nearby my alma mater so when my coworker suggested we go here before we headed back to the airport, it was super nostalgic for me! Despite this location being under construction during our visit, there seemed to be a good flow of patrons and we also were attended to quite well. I ordered a cup of coffee and let's just say I got my fair share of refills. For my food I ordered the original malted waffle with a side of sausage links and eggs over easy. The food came out hot and fresh and I definitely didn't leave hungry - just with a lingering desire for more waffles. Mmmm!! Also since it is October aka spooky season it was super cute that they had decorations up inside and outside the storefront (even while they were in the process of construction). It was definitely a nice touch! Thanks again, Ruby's Diner Carlsbad!

This Ruby's feels like the end of an era. There used to be so many more Ruby's (on the pier), so I feel like still finding them is a real treat. This restaurant is a little smaller than other locations, but still has fun decor and a cool train that runs along a track at the ceiling of the restaurant. We had what one comes to expect from a Ruby's - friendly service and tasty diner food. I ordered the BLTA and while it wasn't the healthiest choice, it sure was good. I regretted not ordering a shake or cherry Vanilla Coke on this visit.

Good old school 50's style diner with all the decor and all the dishes that you would expect. Everything meets or exceeds expectations, and the servers were very good with giving our kid paper cars to play with. The place seems to be showing its age a bit, but definitely the best diner option in the immediate area.

I was reminiscing about Ruby's Diner, one of my favorite dining locations at the Oceanside Pier. They had closed many years ago and the building recently burnt down. But after doing a search online, I realize that they had a location in Carlsbad. This is my review of Ruby's Diner in the Carlsbad outlet mall. I am very happy that this Ruby's Diner is only 15 minutes away from downtown Oceanside. Although I don't come to this mall frequently, I may start returning more often thanks to my experience eating here. Ruby's Diner is known as a Classic American Diner that is well known for their burgers, fries & milkshakes. They're also famous for their vintage 50's & 60's themed decor & music. Their interior is very spacious and accommodate groups and families easy. You can also choose to sit outside on the patio as well. The vintage theme has various paraphernalia and decorations from the 60s era. They also have a functioning train set that runs a track on the ceiling above. The kids love it! I think the only CON I found for their atmosphere was in regards to their men's restroom being too small and only having 1 stall & 1 urinal. Their service is always courteous, fast & friendly and I love their uniforms. Although their menu is based on an American diner theme, there are many other options to help diversify one's dining choices. For breakfast, you can find items like eggs Benedict, omelettes, avocado toast, breakfast burritos, biscuits & gravy, chicken fried steak, waffles, pancakes, French toast, and of course, a typical American breakfast with eggs and bacon. Their lunch and dinner menu is just as extensive. Their portions are very fair considering the price, and overall, I love the customization options for customers who want to create their own flavor experiences by mixing & matching ingredients. My most recent experience was with a Cobb burger, Cajun Fries and a Salted Caramel Milkshake. I loved the variance from salty bacon, to juicy burger, to seasoned crispy fries & the sweet sips of heaven! Anytime I want a true vintage dining experience, I come to Ruby's Diner in Carlsbad to send me down memory lane. I recommend!

This place is currently going through renovations, however it's open from dine in. The staff there are very friendly. Their burgers, fries, salad and shakes were delicious!! Yes... my kiddo enjoyed his burger so I didn't get a chance to take a photo !

    Do they still have beignets?

They were included in the breakfast I ordered on the menu....but they didn't come on my plate. Perhaps they were out that day or they have stopped keeping them on the menu.

Great Spot for Drinks, But Pricey…read more We didn't actually have a meal at 20|Twenty, so I can't really comment on the food, but we did stop in for drinks and enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a beautiful, comfortable place to sit, relax, and have a drink, and the service was good. The one disappointment was the coffee. For a restaurant at this level--and at these prices--I expected the coffee to be much better. Overall, everything is definitely on the expensive side, which is somewhat expected at a resort, but you definitely notice it. One funny thing we noticed: the sign above the door appears to be backwards and reads "Twenty|20" instead of "20|Twenty." It's a small detail, but once you notice it, you can't really unsee it! Overall, we enjoyed our time here and would give it four stars based on the atmosphere, drinks, and service. I'd come back for cocktails, but probably look elsewhere for my morning coffee.

You can enter it direct from the hotel lobby or via an exterior entrance close to the main hotel entrance. It features a large and beautiful dining room, stylish bar and ample seating outside to enjoy the outstanding Southern California weather. We had two breakfasts here. We ordered off the menu on day one and ate outside, and we ordered their Weekend buffet ($25) on day two and ate inside. Both breakfasts were made extra special by our wonderful server Digna. We were so lucky to enjoy her fun personality, engagement, and overall charm on both mornings. On Day One, I ordered something I had seen on menus for years, but never tried before. My Chilaquiles ($22) were" a savory bowl of Boraccho beans, queso fresco, avocado, eggs, red onion, bathed in a guajillo chile sauce". I thanked Digna who taught me how to pronounce it. I loved the taste- the sauce and the tortilla wedges, sliced avocado, and egg. What a feast. On Day Two I went with the buffet and went straight to the big pile of smoked salmon, red onion slices, chive cream cheese and mini bagels. The salmon was high quality thinly sliced, just the way we like it. The buffet also had everything you want in a buffet- hot dishes, pastries, yogurt, and fruit. The fruit was great-plenty of watermelon, assorted melons, and berries. I did find it odd that when I went to toast my bagel, I saw they only had one toaster with four slots. Unfortunately, the two left slots did not work, so restaurant patrons were lining up to toast their breads one at a time. I mentioned this to one of the staff, and his response was "Yeah, we know." Anyway, that indifferent reaction was more than counterbalanced by the fantastic food and Digna's 1,000-watt personality. And what's the origin of Digna's unique name? I asked her and she said her mother named her after a street in her home town.

Family-Friendly Escape Near Legoland…read more While staying at the nearby Legoland Hotel, a few of us moms decided to sneak away from our husbands and kids for a quick break, and this place was a fantastic find! It features a variety of food stalls serving fresh, high-quality dishes, which was a very welcome break from the typical fried hotel food. With options ranging from pizza and fried chicken to a great selection of Asian cuisines like Thai and Chinese, it is an easy way to accommodate different tastes within a family or across multiple families. I especially loved the fresh, piping-hot dishes (we got the pad see ew) from the Thai food stall paired with a delicious cocktail from the central bar. Before heading back, we also grabbed some mini donuts to bring to the kids. The space is incredibly accommodating, with plenty of indoor seating options including bar tables, cozy booths, and standard tables. On top of that, they have several arcade games on-site, making this a highly viable and fun dining option for families with kids. Would recommend as a viable option if you're in the area.

Well, if you're hungry but can't exactly decide how to satisfy that hunger, just follow the windmill to the Windmill Food Hall. That's what we did and were soon face-to-face with fourteen different food vendors, ranging the ethnic gamut from Thai to Chinese to Sushi to Burgers to Lobster to Pizza to Mexican and pretty much anything your hungry little heart craves. Our party of three scattered into three directions and reunited at a table for our eclectic lunch. My wife went with meatballs from Cacio because Craft Pizza didn't sell slices, just a 12" pizza. My brother-in-law went with a Honey Walnut Shrimp plate from Secret Sauce Wok, and I went with sushi and miso soup from Rolled Up Sushi. I loved my lunch, starting with a nice flavorful Miso Soup ($5) that was served in a coffee cup! My eight Spicy Tuna Rolls ($14) were most definitely spicy. Now, since I love spicy food I was thrilled because 98% of the spicy tuna rolls I've had over the years are ho-hum on the old spiciness meter. Not these. The food hall was packed, and we saw many families having lunch there. Kids were all over, including some uniformed sports teams. The kids were also at the many video and arcade games on the premises, while bigger kids were entertaining themselves at Windmill's big bar. What a fun place for a fun food experience.
