I enjoy coming here. It's right by my house. But this was the LAST straw! First one was plastic wrapping piece in my hamburger. I love hamburgers, please don't ruin hamburgers for me! Today, it was a long hair, not my wife's hair, cooked inside an onion ring, which the waitress suggested we order,should of stuck with the fries. Nothing extraordinary but it did its job to feed a hungry family. My husband's burger had a big on the lettuce. They offered to make him another one which they actually brought out quite fast. Very much appreciated. They also did not charge us for the burger that had the bug. read more

Ordered a hotdog and a bowl of chilli,. Got to my car and realized that they have my order wrong. This is where Matt stepped in, now most people might be wondering how this is a 5 star experience with a mistake on a food order, but mistakes happen in every service industry. What set this experience apart is that Matt the manager(has a god ring to it!). Stepped in fixed this issue and did it all with a positive attitude, not at all like he was doing me a favor which is often the sentiment around service industies. Always a great experience whenever we come to Ruby's diner. Usually we have had great service from Manny but today we had Candace as our server and she did not disappoint. She was attentive and always kept stopping by,regardless of how busy it is, to make sure we are good. Ruby's has good food, but it's on the pricey end. They have kind, quick, and easy service and has your standard 60's diner look and feel.

Since I'm counting calories I'm appreciating chain restaurants more since if they have at least 20 locations they're required by law to print the calorie information on the menu. Even though in the past I hated seeing the calorie count on the menu it's something I greatly appreciate now and it makes eating out much easier. I've always been a fan of Ruby's. Ever since I was a kid it was a common place to eat at when family was in from out of town and there was usually something on the menu for everybody. As an adult I still enjoy Ruby's and prefer it over Red Robin which I also like. I appreciate the fact I can not only get a regular beef patty but substitute it with turkey, gardenburger, or "GoFit" lean veggie protein patty on any of their burgers. Even though most Ruby's are packed to the brim and full of screaming kids I've always had good service and satisfying grub. This location appears to of had a remodel. It has a very classy looking interior with faux wood paneling and classy looking lighting. It felt very comfortable and was a totally different vibe than the usual 50's diner I'm used to seeing. Scanning the menu for a good ratio of flavor to calories I was shocked to see the fish and chips plate was only 926 calories which for a mountain of golden fried goodies seemed like a good deal to me. Most of the burgers have more than that without the fries! I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by the fish. It came with 4 nice sized pieces with thick juicy cod covered in a perfectly fried batter. The batter had a delicious flavor to it, held on to the fish down to the last bite, and wasn't greasy at all. Since the tiny cup of tartar sauce at 217 calories wasn't worth it to me I doused the fish in malt vinegar and used the heavy on the horseradish cocktail sauce(68 calories) to dip my fries in. I didn't eat the coleslaw since it really sucked.... they definitely need to work on their coleslaw recipe. I not only got to binge on a decadent fried meal yet still had plenty of calories remaining for the rest of my day! Hooray! My wife had the Texas Grilled Cheese(673 calories) which is American & Swiss cheese melted between two slices of thick grilled egg bread Texas Toast. She really liked it but I'm not really a fan of egg bread so it's not something I'd get. This place was the best, my aunt took me here in 2019 and I got the hickory burger. It was the best, I love the service, food, and place. The waiting took a bit long but I understand since there were a lot of people there. My family got milkshakes from there and according to them it was super sweet so if you like sweet things, get that. I would definitely recommend this place!! read more

I ordered for pick up at 1:30pm on 10.7.21. Chris W. (Manager) took my order over the phone. I attempted to order a dinner salad with grilled chicken, and before I could finish my sentence he asked me what kind of dressing (not a huge deal). I repeated myself again and said a dinner salad with grilled chicken, ranch dressing on the side. I also ordered some fries. Asked if if that completed my order. I said , "Yes just the dinner salad with chicken and fries." Took about 5-10 minutes to get to the restaurant, and he was walking up with the order as I walked in. Paid for the order, thought it was cheap for what I got and that it came out quick since chicken usually takes more than 5 minutes to cook. Returned to my office and found no chicken on my salad. Luckily, he didn't charge me for it, but it confirms that he wasn't listening over the phone. I went to Ruby's for this specifically and was disappointed. I worked here years ago for 8 years and Chris recognized me. We talked. I should have checked my order instead of walking away trusting that it was right... He did not listen to the order and got it wrong. I'm not driving back to get a chicken breast added to a bowl of lettuce, but with customer service in a disarray in this day and age, I figured a simple order like a salad with chicken and fried would be fool-proof. Stopped in here after walking through this huge mall. The only other time I've been to a Ruby's was in the LAX airport (and that was for breakfast). This was lunch time so I thought I'd give it a try. Diner usually means pretty good burger to me so that is what I intended to get. The waitress came over, very nice and friendly. The menu was nice and colorful and had pictures. Ooo, that fish looks yummy. OK, I'll try that. I think I should have tried the burger. The fish was alright, but not as good as the picture looked. And it didn't seem cooked as well as it should be. Right under the outer coating, in some places it was still on the verge of batter. Not quite batter, but not quite crusty either. I absolutely love Ruby's Diner! As soon as I walked in to the diner with my sister we were quickly greeted and seated. We had the most amazing waitress take our order and explained the burgers to us. She took the time to give us tips on the shakes and burgers. I believe her name was Yolanda. She was exceptional throughout our dinning experience. She made sure to check up on us and our drinks. The food was delicious! I ended up getting a banana chocolate shake and their avocado cheeseburger. Our bill came out to about $20 and we were stuffed. I came a couple of days before Christmas so the hectic shoppers were all waiting in line to dine here and the restaurant was packed and filthy. It didn't take too long for us to be seated, but the table was sticky when we arrived and the spacing is very cramped. I felt like I was eating with the people next to us. The floors were sticky in some areas and wet in others. I wasn't sure if I would slip and fall or stick and trip. I do like the food and service here. Everyone was very friendly and attentive considering how busy it was. Most of the workers are very young, but do an excellent job. The shiny interior attracted my lil guy in though I must say the experience wasn't half bad at all. Our server was this young kid who had that eager beaver look about him. He was just all apple dumplin' happy at 10.30 in the morning all smiling which hey, if you feel good in the mornings, more kudos to you. I'm not a morning person. Our food arrived pretty quickly and it tasted pretty good. I got the 'skinny lunch' which was either a turkey or veggie pattie with a cup of fruit, salsa and cottage cheese. The manager, Paul was very attentive and checking on each table - thankfully not when we had food in our mouths! If it weren't for my friend who is madly in love with one of the waitresses here, I wouldn't be coming here as often as I do. The food is mediocre, service is slow, and the tables are greasy. On the positive side, the servers are always extremely friendly, and do their best to make accommodations (putting things on the side, etc.) They make a decent chili here. There are big chunks of meat, and it's a hearty and affordable lunch for a poor college student who has to come here 2-3 times a week. Also, I recommend their Apple Pie. Sometimes when I think of Ruby's, I'm reminded of Johnny Rockets, or even Red Robin - but that does it no justice. If I explain to someone what Ruby's is, I usually say, "It's like a better Johnny Rockets" and people usually get it. I crave this place a lot and it's so convenient to have it right in crystal court (yeah, I still call it that). Their kobe sliders, while definitely not japanese kobe beef) makes my mouth water and even though they look small, after my third one, I'm pretty much stuffed. Endless fries and bomb shakes also bring me back. Their Oreo shake puts Jack in the Box to shame, so much so that I'm sad I even mentioned that restaurant in the same review as Ruby's. Their strawberry shake is also great...wait, no, pretty much all their shakes are the best. While I usually order the sliders now, the Beach Burger is my all time favorite (I don't think it's on the menu anymore, but it was on real sourdough bread toasted with the tastiest cheese caked right into it. The service is always friendly and the wait is never too long. A good place to refuel after a long day of SCP shopping. read more

This Ruby's is found on the first floor of the "Crystal Court" and is usually where I would eat if I'm shopping here. Most Ruby's are the same, offering burgers, shakes and fries. The staff is always very friendly and helpful - they all have a bright, cheery attitude. I'm not the biggest burger fan so sometimes I will opt to change the burger patty for a chicken breast. They've also added sliders to their menu which is less intimidating to eat if your stomach can't handle a giant burger. The fries here are refillable which means you'll get less fries on your plate to start but you just keep asking for more and they'll bring them out right to you. I personally love the cajun fries since I like spice but if you love garlic, their garlic parmesan fries have tons of chopped bits of garlic. The milkshakes here are also very yummy and enough for two people to share. My other favorites here include the chicken tenders and just about any breakfast food. They do have some breakfast items that they serve all day, including the corned beef hash (I think Ruby's makes it best). In a place where everything surrounding you is upscale, I like the fact that I can eat good old diner food without spending a fortune. read more

Shopping at South Coast on an empty stomach? No.. No.. not good. Luckily, Ruby's hangs out there on the lower level facing Bristol, and its cute, simple and efficient. This time around, I tried something new.. the Cranberry Brie Turkey Burger .. WOW its different, but uber delicious. I think this will be my new fave here. The hubbster tried out the Texas Grilled Cheese stuffed with bacon, and it was nice. Ooooey Goooey and salty bacon. He enjoyed it. After devourment, we washed it all down with their irresistible chocolate malts. Winning! Perks: All day Breakfast is served! Kids menu, and vegetarian items available. What?..oh my they serve Beer and Wine here?? interesting.. and maybe a little wrong.. but hey it works! Indoor dining area is big for groups and outdoor seating is an option. My grandma and I love the fish and chips! Always so crispy and hot. Today though, she bit into a bone and doesn't plan on ordering them again. What a shame because Ruby's fish and chips are usually some of the best around. Our coleslaw had little to no dressing on it and when my grandma brought it to the attention of the waitress, she was rather indifferent. Maybe an off day, but not happy with the quality nor service... Update: I was contacted by the manager of this Ruby's location who offered to give me a gift card to help rectify my experience. I appreciated her reaching out and the generous offer, but after providing my email and waiting 3 weeks to receive the gift card, I have not. I've enjoyed my visits to Ruby's It's an old fashioned style diner located in the Mall, & frequented by families on weekends, with sometimes a wait for a booth, on weekend's I've seen staff coming around making balloon's for the kids, so not only a good place for families to come & enjoy a meal together in a casual environment, but a little bit of novelty to keep the kids entertained. They have a kids menu, a breakfast menu too, as well as a regular menu - even salads available. It's not all fried delights but there are plenty of options on the menu for a variety of burgers & sandwiches, all served with fries or onion rings.. There's plenty of fryer style food, but some green stuff too aka:salads, so can suit most people of trying to find an easy option to suit everyone. I have to admit I have a soft spot for a Ruby's shake. It's my Ruby's weakness. They have a variety shakes on the menu, but my favourite has to be the classic Chocolate shake. I've been known to pass by & get one "to go" while I'm shopping. A little bit of a treat. Served with whipped cream on top, & a Maraschino cherry (which I personally can't stand) the shakes are great! read more

I've been here many, many times through the years. We're talking, almost all the time while I was going to OCC and then at least once a month after that but of course since stopped because my lunch buddies all got laid off and I'm currently stuck with the "eat in the lunch room only and go straight back to work" life. I had lunch with some girlfriends on the busiest day in Crystal Court history and tried the Ruby Turkey Sliders for the first time. See, I travel with a 6 month old now so I need something I can eat one-handed. Delish. Turkey patties are so obviously hand-shaped and that's just a joy to see. The grilled onions were not diced up too small and that was perfect. The Kings Hawaiian Roll was perfect with the honey mustard sauce I always slather on everything whenever I go to Ruby's. My only complaint was the mashed potatoes. I had told the waitress that I didn't want cheese on the mashed potatoes. I didn't want anything in them as they were for my 6 month old son. When I got them there was cheese mixed in and bacon and green onions. Which, I'm sure were delicious and of course I still fed them to my son but I just wished the waitress paid a little more attention to the, "Plain. Came by this place to meet up with a good friend. We met with the hostess, told her our party of 3, and was seated immediately. This was during a Sunday morning at 8am, so not too busy. Our server was super prompt and knew what he was doing. We got our drink order, he offered beignets to get us started, gave us a few minutes to figure out what we wanted, and then we were able to put in our order. Hubby ordered one of the big breakfast plates with the potatoes, fruit, sausage, meat, toast, etc. I got one of the scramblers with the beignets on the side. Our friend customized her order a little bit to just get toast, bacon, ham, and some potatoes. The server was very accommodating, knew the menu, and was able to figure out what we wanted. Wait-wise, not bad. The beignets came out pretty quickly, and we enjoyed munching on that. Drinks were also pretty prompt. Our food was piping hot when it came out. And absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the scrambler, and to be able to have my own beignets was pretty awesome. Wasn't going to share my own... We were leaving to go home and the child hadn't eaten. We try for more healthy things than "fast food". My kid don't even know what McDonald's is...So thought maybe Ruby's would have something!
