I can rest easy knowing I got to experience Norms. It's truly a jack of all trades. I went in expecting something similar to places like Denny's or IHOP, but I was genuinely surprised by how energetic it felt inside. The place was packed, but the wait ended up being worth it. The service stood out right away, our server seemed genuinely happy to be there, and that kind of attitude makes a big difference. It felt welcoming and comfortable, like somewhere you could sit and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and oddly enough, my favorite ended up being the Thanksgiving dinner. The menu offers something for everyone, and the space itself is great for families or larger groups. Norms definitely exceeded my expectations. read more

First and foremost the service provided by Estaban was excellent! Very attentive, professional, kind, and accommodating, thus the three stars The food was subpar and under cooked. Requested crispy hash browns, even requested they try again after the first delivery and they came back raw and tasteless. Pancakes were slightly doughy and the coffee was slightly diluted. I have been going with my family to Norm's for the last 20 years on and off. In the past it used to be very good. Lately i had a lot of problems with their reward system it's a terrible system and they cancel your points when you are getting close to get your free meal. I noticed when you get around 65 points is when all of sudden your points disappear!!!!!I have complained a couple of times I think this is done in purpose because when you get to 100 points they have to give you a free meal. They conveniently forget you spend over $100 to get there . I used to go to norm's four times a week spending $32 each time which amounts to $130 approximately a week which adds up to $500 a month which adds to around $6,000.... a year. Norm's has lost my business I finally got tired of they ripping people off with their reward system!! I was accused of having two emails and I explained to this Hernandez person in charge that I had canceled my first original email for the reward system because they kept on canceling my points , I just l desctivated the first one and opened a new account but, that was not enough for them they still dishonestly canceled all my points... Do not fall in the trap off norms rewards points it's a trap!!! Once you get close to getting a free meal all of sudden the app erases your points !!!!! I was told by a waiter in the Costa Mesa restaurant that I am not the only client complaining about the reward system points they do that to everybody.... how dishonest !! The food is good for the most part,cooks are good most of the time when your steaks are not overly cooked and burned and the hash browns are not floating in greace. Their prices are okay compared to other competitive restaurants out there. The location was definitely very convenient for me I have taken many friends to that restaurant and gave them a lot of business!! Unfortunately the restaurant is falling apart because it's very old and they don't keep it up and lately it's always empty .The restrooms are disgusting and smell terrible!!!! They keep on sending us requests to give feedback and for years you complain about the same problems and nothing changes.... Last time I was there I spent $33 on a salmon dish special that unfortunately had so much salt that I could not eat it. When I brought it up to the new managers attention that looks better than the previous ones but it's not more professional ,she said Norm's does not use SALT in their food they just use spices.....ok... therefore my salmon could not be too salty ..... I stopped going to this place,I will not be going to Norm's anymore there are many similar restaurants with great seniors discounts in the same neighborhood in Costa Mesa. They need to start hiring people that know how to manage the app and the restaurant but at least now they hire people that speak English they have had seven managers in the last 6 months terrible management in all ways.... I will miss my waiter Stevan that always tried to make it up for the lack of professionalism of management. read more

Definitely prefer norms over IHOP or Dennys. Rocky was our server and did a phenomenal job. He delivered exceptional service and went above and beyond with his level of detail and hospitality. I think this is the best Norms location in Orange County for sure. read more

The Chilaquiles were ok but they were cold. The Hawaiian French Toast uses a different kind of bread that's nice, but their regular French Toast is just as good. I didn't care for the a Spam that came with it. I got a side of sausage patties and they were good. The steak was scary and gray color, but had a decent flavor and texture. It seems like it was cooked on a grill that wasn't hot enough to give it a good enough sear. read more

Been coming here a few times now. Service is always good and food is always great. I am giving a 5 Star Review, however, I must mention, I do believe that Norm's, as a company should honor MILITARY DISCOUNTS everyday, just as they honor Senior Citizens Discounts on a daily basis, I served my country for almost a decade, and that experience you can't take away from my life, as if all of my experiences just come once a year, on Veterans Day. Well, enough of my rant, but a shout out to Esteban who has been our server 2 times in a row. Good job on your service. Temperature was decent and no foul odors. All their table have this small gadget to play, of course this attract mostly kids to play at first I think "0h wow it's cool they have this" but we were surprised when we got are bill, "they just charge $2.99" what a BS, it didn't even say that those table gadget is not free! MANNNNNN THIS GEM!! Who knew they had a $9.99 deal! And it's amazing! The norms is so old school inside super fun diner vibe the cushions could use a deep clean but it's a great interior. The deal I went for was the $9.99 double quarter pound cheeseburger with fries and wow this was just perfect sooooo juicy the toppings were all good and crisp the house sauce was amazing the fries were great. For $9.99 I may take this double cheeseburger and fries over TK.... My wife got a breakfast platter that was also incredible! Service is fast and efficient friendly great spot. I work nearby the Norms restaurant, and I leave late at night to go home. One night around 8:30 PM, on my way to the bus stop, I witnessed a homeless lady giving birth on the front lawn of Norms. My phone was dead, so I told the manager of norms the situation and she said they would call 911 to help her. A day later, I show up to work a little bit early around 9:00 AM and I see the homeless lady's umbilical cord still in the front yard of the Norms building, implying the homeless lady was not attended to, and had to cut her own umbilical cord and leave the property. I told the morning shift manager and he refused to take me seriously at all, continuing with his shift. This was probably the most horrific weekend of my life and the acting managers and staff did nothing to help that poor woman. Truly one of the most sickening acts of humanity. read more

Norms is my favorite diner, and it's almost a requirement whenever I go to LA or OC. It has the comfortable vibes which simply cannot be beat. The music and the atmosphere will always make me feel like home. This time it was the Costa Mesa one and it did not disappoint. Started off with a split pea soup, my all time favorite soup. Then once the entrées came out, it was time to feast. The habanero jalapeño burger is unmatched. It was cooked to perfection. Paired with onion rings, and it was a perfect meal. To end the night we had single scoops of Thrifty Ice Cream, which I highly recommend be part of your meal too. Dalila was our waitress and she was superb. Went constantly above and beyond by checking in on us and making sure we were always well taken care of. I just wish they were closer, but they're always worth the drive. read more

Norm's is what I would consider a classic diner. It reminds me of a Denny's. It was good for a standard breakfast. I had chicken fried steak with eggs and pancakes. All was good except for the gravy. I asked for the gravy on the side the 2nd time because of the chalky flavor. That kept the fried steak batter crispy. For whatever reason the gravy tasted too grainy like it had too much flour or corn starch. It took away from the flavor. I liked the other aspects of the meal though. The egg and hash brown and pancakes did not disappoint. All in all a good hearty breakfast where you leave full and in some cases with leftovers to go. The service is way up there. Everyone is super friendly and happy to be there. That was a pleasant thing to experience. I will be back if ever in the area again. read more

Disappointing experience. We typically go to Norms locations in LA but we're visiting this area. The server seemed good & memorized everything instead of writing it down but I am not sure if it was her fault or the kitchen but the food came out wrong after taking a very long time to make. She never apologized or asked if we needed anything when she finally brought the correct meal out. She never ever once came back to check on us and simply laid down the check at the end. Nope. Would never recommend this location especially since the food seemed like much poorer quality than the other locations. Bad experience. read more

My daughter ordered the kids' combo with pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon, along with orange juice. She enjoyed the kids' meal and the menu activities. It was perfect we were looking for a place that was open late after a football game and found Norms open 24 hrs- haven't seen that in a while. So I stopped in around 10:10 pm to grab a salad for my lunch ( I work graveyard) I ordered the spicy chicken salad with Parmesan cheese instead of blue cheese, with the ranch and chicken in the side because I was going to be eating it later at 3 am for my lunch and I didn't want my lettuce soggy. I went to Costa Mesa, which is one of my favorite places. I started with split pea soup, and then when the main courses came, it was time to eat. The club sandwich is the best. It was a perfect meal.
