This place used to be one of our faves for a quick stop for some amazing steak or pork tacos. Something started going downhill over the last couple of years. The hours changes and started to never really be open, closing by 3pm on most days, so that made it impossible to pick up to-go on the way home. (I was told eventually they have another restaurant somewhere else and aren't able to keep the hours) then the food, and service both changed in quality. The best place in town for breakfast and hey maybe your breakfast is your dinner if you are like I was and work overnight. Get down there for the best burrito dinner or the great breakfast. The pancakes are the best I've ever eaten. I always bug them about the recipe I taste vanilla hints of cinnamon and a whole lotta yum. I'm super bummed about the short hours but they are a breakfast/lunch kinda place so I understand but I wait and hope for longer hours. Luckily they have decent hours on the weekend. Ruby's in Minooka is the only place I go for breakfast. The staff is always friendly, service is on point, and the food is delicious! Always! The pancakes are the best around and the food comes out hot and quick. Phenomenal breakfast!! Seriously, it's top notch. Very friendly staff. Extremely fast to order and receive your food. XL portions. I've basically been going there weekly for a few years now. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the cooks changed in probably early 2016 and the quality dropped a little. Hands down the best breakfast spot around. My husband and I do date breakfasts all the time. We have stopped going elsewhere because this place can't be beat. This is one of the only places I found in Minooka that served Mexican food. It was good. Tried the pork carnitas dinner. The carnitas were very good. Rice and beans were par. Had Chorizo and eggs for breakfast. It's like bacon, you can't go wrong with chorizo. read more

The wife and I used to drive an 18 wheeler back and forth from California to New Jersey. Coming through Minooka, we would park our truck at the Pilot Truck Stop to shower and after, we would walk to Ruby's for some good Mexican food. When I say good I mean really good. Absolutely horrible!! Sign says seat yourself, which we did. Waited for ten minutes before waitress even acknowledged us. People who walked in for carry out were waited on before us. Waitress wore a pair of old pair of jeans that were cut off to make shorts out of. Food was horrible!! If I had a dog I wouldn't even bring home the leftovers!! Waitress must have been in a hurry to get off work!! She brings the bill with her purse flung over her shoulder as she walks out of the front door. States owner will take care of you now!! I am so thankful I looked at Yelp for a good place to stop and eat. My husband and I are passing through on a road trip. Since we've had some really bad food experiences we now always check yelp before we stop. Ruby's has some excellent reviews and they were spot on. This truly is a "diamond in the rough"! Our server was so sweet. Her name was Laura. Laura was helpful in explaining all the food choices. She recommended the burgers. I ordered a cheeseburger. I am glad I dis! She asked how I wanted it cooked. It was a fresh hand pressed burger. It came with all the toppings. She even asked me how I wanted my fries. I said crisply of course. My husband ordered pancakes, an omelette and hash browns. All tasted great. Laura told us everything is made from scratch and this place cares so much about quality that they always have an owner in the kitchen. The food was all made to our requests. Sooooo yummy. Ruby's was full of locals visiting and drinking coffee. The locals know what is good. My husband and I will definitely stop here again. It's right off I-80. You should really stop. My husband and I are always on the road since he's a truck driver. I always look for places close by that we can walk to to eat. I found this place saw it had good reviews so we tried it out. We both ordered the jalapeño burger. We were disappointed, we were expecting something else. The burgers were literally just the buns, patties, cheese and jalapeños the fries were okay. They were $9.45 each seriously not worth it. Don't get me started on the service!! Not once were we offered a refill nor did they bother to check on us. Wouldn't consider coming back here. And I see the business hours on yelp says 6 am to 10 pm they're actually open from 6 am to 3 pm. read more

My wife and I went here for Sunday breakfast. The restaurant was clean, service was fast and friendly, and the coffee was good. We both loved the pancakes and the chilaquiles. I ordered the Minooka omelette because I really like chorizo with cheese and eggs but it was disappointing. It was surprisingly bland. We will definitely be back though. This is the best place to eat in the area. You might think to pass it up at first because of the odd name or location. But the food is delicious, there is variety, service is quick, and they'll remember your order and treat you like family. Tony and Laura are terrific. The hardshell steak tacos are my family's favorite, and for breakfast go with the hashbrowns and bacon. The portions are big and the price is right! Went there for breakfast. Was not overly impressed. The portions are very large. The Waitstaff was very friendly. I really wanted a steak and eggs and they were out of the steak. My scrambled eggs were overcooked, cold and dry. It's one of the few breakfast spots in the area so i will probably go back and give it another go. read more

Me & my husband went there this morning to get breakfast around 9 am. I had my Service Dog with us. We've been going there since it opened. The waitress treated me with disrespect. I informed & told her that my do is my Service Dog. No more should have been said. She never brought menus or asked us what we wanted to drink. Instead she demanded that I show her proof, papers & ID # for my Service Dog. Everything she demanded was against the law. As soon as I told her that my dog was a Service Dog no more should have been said. She even said it was against the law to have my dog with me & against the Heath Code. I also informed her that she was breaking the law about asking me for any information about my disability. It lasted about 5 -10 mins. of her demanding. My husband said that if this was gong to be a problem then we were leaving so we left. No we will not be back. It's very sad that you can not go out to breakfast when you have a Disability because you have a service Dog!!! read more

They re-use the syrup! Saw them pouring our syrup that we were using and my kids has stuck their fingers in back in the warmer. Wait staff is very friendly but the owner is a complete jerk!
