Ian is a very knowledgeable man, he knows what he is doing. He is a one man show and may take a day or so to get back to you. He's usually on the top rung of the ladder and dealing with bird poop! I requested spikes, but when he arrived he was asking me about the birds and pointing out the birds names and said they would nest on top of spikes. He installed a metal mesh and it worked perfectly. For the past couple of years, I would need to clean an enormous amount of bird poop in my backyard. It wasn't until recently that I figured to have someone take a look at my roof since I could hear birds on my roof all the time. I soon found out that birds have been nesting under my solar panels. After calling around multiple places for solar panels exclusion services, Ian offered the the best value based on the materials that he used for the metal screen (PVC coated galvanized metal). Ian was very professional and kind from the start. He was never a pushy salesmen from when he first came out to provide a free quote. And when it came time for the install, he made sure to clean the roof and gutters really well. He even went out of his way to mention that my solar panels have overspray paint from when my house was first constructed. And he helped remove construction debris from my roof/gutters. Great experience from beginning to end. I had pigeons set up camp under my solar panels, they were making a mess and noisy and I finally got around to doing something about it. Ian was responsive and we quickly set up a price and an appointment time for him to come over to clean up the roof and install mesh to keep the pigeon out from getting back under the panels again. He showed up on time and did a fantastic job--very professional and conscientious. Beyond a nice job on the roof (see pic), he also found and documented a broken tile, then installed the mesh in such a way that it was easy to repair the tile (and left me extra clips). Had high hopes because they are highly rated. Requested a quote and a guy came out to my house on July 26th to take a look at the bird problem we were having. He gave me a quote and a contract to sign if I decided to have them take care of the issue. He told me to sign the contract and send him a picture of the contract and then he would contact me to set up a date to have them provide the service. On August 9th I sent the signed contract (a picture) back to him and told him we'd like to move forward (all via text). He never responded. We had a positive experience with Ian. He placed screens and spikes and cleaned up all the pigeon waste which almost completely covered the first floor roof on the front of the house. He glued two cracked roof tiles for free. We also had him clean the solar panels and have seen a noticeable increase in power production. He even cleaned out the gutters. One downspout was too clogged for him to clean, but I figured any gutter cleaning was a bonus. His pricing was less than another estimate we received (about $750 vs $900) which I initially thought was high. He is very busy--we had to wait about 3 weeks. read more

Discovered some birds nesting on the roof of my home. Of course they left a mess all over the floor. Did a yelp search and thought Ruffled Feathers would be the best company to handle the problem. Requested a quote through yelp. No response for 2 days. I then message him through his website. Finally responds through yelp that he can go and check it out and leave me an estimate. I thought great, let's get this going. Two days pass from the day he said he would go and check it out and still no quote. I message him again through yelp and no response. Very poor follow through. Had screen mesh added to solar panels to prevent pigeons nesting/roosting. House builder refused to provide screens or an option for screens during solar install and after 2 years of birds it was getting bad. Ruffled Feathers estimate was reasonable, considering in involved cleanup in addition to the screens. Update #3: We were finally able to get our services completed. I have nothing bad to say about their work, as we have yet to have any pigeons return to our home. Yay! My only recommendation would be to try and improve communication with customers in regards to appointment dates and times and notifying them ASAP if an appointment needs to be postponed. I had a barn swallow problem. They decided to build a nest right above my AC unit and take seasons worth of dumps all over it. They also apparently loved my DirecTV satellite dish so much they built a second nest inside the dish mount and crap all over that too. I originally called Ian back in April of 2012, when I finally had enough, for a free inspection and estimate and he told me, on top of all the (literal) crap, they were a protected species and he couldn't move them until they left. So I waited/waded through yet another year of bird pooop everywhere until this past winter, when I called him again to finally remove the nests and (hopefully) keep them from coming back. Ian and his assistant did a fantastic job both removing the nests and cleaning up the walls, patio floors, and the AC unit of all the bird poop, they also did a very nice job putting up a netting that would keep the swallows from coming back and mostly match the color scheme of the house. They also put some sort of foam into the crevice in the dish mount to keep the swallows from nesting in there either. Communication was good, the job only took a few hours in a morning, and the price for the job was very fair. He also guarantees his work for a year. Great workmanship and professionalism. I never knew how big of a nuisance pigeons could be until I moved into my new house! They were super noisy and left mountains of poop over the roof tiles and ledges. I knew they just had to go! After checking out yelp, I called Ruffled Feathers Bird Control (what a cute name!). Ian came out for the estimate and walked me around the house explaining where the birds liked to nest and where he would be installing spikes. On the day of the installation, Ian and his assistant were both very nice and friendly. They cleaned up the mess from the pigeons and installed spikes on the ledges where the birds liked to hang out and make trouble. I was afraid the house would look funny with spikes sticking out, but they did a great job and you can hardly notice the spikes. They needed access to the backyard during the installation/cleaning, and that's when I found out that the previous owner of the house had left a lock on the backyard gate latch which I didn't have the key to. This made it impossible for anyone to go in or out from the gate, so Ian removed the old gate latch and told me if I got another one he could install it for me. I hurried to Home Depot to buy new gate latch, which Ian then fixed onto the gate for me. What a nice guy! read more
