The Ruins specializes in Mexican food and it seems very authentic. The drinks were perfect not too much and not too little alcohol. Service is extra ordinary, the bartender can out to the patio to ask if we wanted more drinks. My friend got a drink that had sage burning, that was phenomenal. We were there for open mic night and some great artists were featured, it was a really great night out!

Ruins is a hidden gem. Between the food and the cocktails you can't go wrong ordering anything and everything. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and will make you something special if you ask!

Delicious!!!!!!! Cabeza taco was my favorite! Al pastor quesadilla second favorite. Open late!!! Bartender was nice too. The decor is awesome. Great spot.

The lychee drink and the vegetable tacos (if you are vegan asked without cream, i didn't know they came with it)

I have been here several times and love it. It's nice to come here after a concert and just hang out and have a small meal. Today I got a bean and cheese taco with a drink. Portions are small for the price. The drink was just right. The scene is very dark and dim, making it romantic for a date. There is a small music venue attached so sometimes you can hear the music if there is someone performing. I think you have to pay to see the performances. My boyfriend and I like coming here so we will continue to come here

Picked this as our date day place because I was in search of different tequilas. They had a decent variety but only one anejo option, which I prefer. So I settled for repo. The price per shot was good. Didn't feel like my pockets were being assaulted as they usually are for tequila shots (yes I have plenty of various tequila at home but sometimes you want to go out you know). We ordered a couple bistec and a couple tinga tacos. They came out pretty quickly. They were tasty (not the best we've had but good enough). All of the servers were friendly and chatty when you wanted them to be. The vibe was cool even though there was a party of about 6 or more that were making a scene about paying the 20% automatic gratuity which is pretty normal for parties that size and it was clearly posted for all to see. The servers took the abuse from Kevin and removed it from his bill. I was hoping they told him not to ever come back but I didn't hear that. Oh well. We enjoyed and would go back maybe later in the day to experience the dj and the evening vibes. We spent $110 with tip for 4 tacos, 4 shots of tequila and 2 beers.

OMG! We had a great time friday night for a music event here. Can't believe we've never stopped in here before. Ruins has such a cool vibe and the staff is amazing. Service was excellent & drinks were great!! Carlos, our bartender, was amazing. Didn't eat but just ordered chips & salsa, which were really good. Commerce street is under construction but there is a parking garage across the street, conveniently!! Easy to get to! Bathrooms were clean too. Can't wait to go back! Enjoyed the event!!

This place has great customer service! The chairs are a bit small, but I appreciate that the sink and wash area are located right outside the men's and women's restrooms, you can easily see who actually washes their hands. The tacos were delicious, and my favorite was the Cabeza taco. The steamed beef made them extra juicy and flavorful. As for the drinks, they were refreshing and well-balance not too strong, but just right.

Atmosphere is creepy and chill. Staff is very attentive and welcoming. Drinks are delicious! Food is delicious also and authentic! Will definitely be returning!

I liked the vibe at Ruins, but it was a bit dark. The food was extremely overpriced for the portions. You had to get each taco individually and the walking nachos were in a store bought bag that definitely should not have costed the price that it was. The nachos had good flavor but not enough for even one person. The tacos were a bit dry, the pastor was definitely the best. Was not a fan of the red salsa. Definitely Tex mex. Our waitress was really nice though! She's what the 3 stars are for.

I've been looking forward to eating at Ruins FOR A YEAR! I tried eating here three times, the first time I came here they told me the kitchen was closed, the second try they told me that the kitchen is closed till Thursdays. The third time I came and they had taken their vegan and vegetarian taco options off the menu. The server didn't even offer ab alternative option that the kitchen could put together. Two stars for the lack of effective communication menu change and kitchen being closed. The drinks and ambiance are both appeasing.

My friend recommended this place for their tacos. She got chicken tinga and a pastor taco. I got 2 steak tacos, 1 chicken taco, and rice & beans. Rice beans weren't my complete favorite but the chicken tinga taco was the better of the tacos !!!! I actually went back and ordered another. My friend grabbed the frozen Paloma and I got the frozen Painkiller. The chicken tacos and the drink really made this place a 4!

I came for the rum, and will return for the rum, delicious food, enticing aesthetic, and amazingly helpful staff. With only one available night for rum-tasting in Dallas, it quickly became clear that Ruins would be the place to go. I was not disappointed, The online rum list was indeed updated and just as wide and creative as promised. Additional bonus: half pours are available for the eager taster. Our table ordered four different entrees and everyone was thrilled with their meal. Staff were happy to make suggestions and also assisted with descriptions. The space is both dark and bright, with a large covered patio entrance area. Totally recommend a visit

Do you have a gluten free menu?

We don’t have a separate menu for that, but we have tons of gluten free options. Our tacos are all made on corn. Most of our items are gluten free besides our tortas.

Do they serve brunch and how about outdoor seating?

Is the full menu served until close?

Yes, 1:45am. Last call for drinks is also last call for food.

Is there a menu available? The website linked on Yelp takes you to a site with images and directions, but no menu info. Thanks in advance!

I noticed that too. There was nothing I could find online either, unfortunately. They have a pretty decent menu but of course it's once you're there.

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

At one point, our food was delivered while we were outside getting fresh air. The food was also disappointing. The scallops and chicken were extremely salty and lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. When we brought it up, the server did little to address it. To top it off, we saw two large cockroaches around our table, which was especially noticeable in the dark dining room. The cocktails were the highlight, but overall, the service, food, pacing, and cleanliness did not meet expectations. One star. Very disappointing, and I'm not sure I'll be back.

The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

The hotel property is like four legs under the table - a great location, a great hotel experience, a great restaurant experience, and a entertainment experience (The Mansion Bar). At least one leg has been kicked out, one is suffering. The Mansion Bar used to have a great recipe for success - proven by how busy and regular the customers were and loyal (or was), and the top tier talent that was routine for 10+ years. Me and my friends have a relationship with the long time staff as customers as well as the excellent music talent. The cause? Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.

(I rarely post Yelp reviews so that's how bad it was) I ordered the steak frites medium-well (thinking it would probably come out well-done, as most non-steakhouses tend to do). After a long wait for our food (the restaurant didn't look that busy, but maybe a lot of to-go orders?) I received the pictured steak: I'm pretty sure I can still hear it mooing. How anyone could look at this and think this is medium-well is beyond me. I tried taking a bite, but it was so raw it was inedible to eat - I would've been chewing for ages. I brought this up to my waiter, who said he would take it back and speak to the kitchen. My group needed to leave for another event (didn't anticipate waiting nearly an hour for our food) so we simultaneously asked for our checks. The kicker? My waiter did not follow up with me on how raw the steak was and did not comp my meal/provide any kind of remedy. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but the lack of follow-through to remedy the situation was the icing on the cake (or insert some kind of raw steak pun). My cocktail (which all arrived AFTER our meals were delivered) was pretty good, thus the 2 stars. But I question why/how my steak was so raw despite me waiting 45-55 minutes for it. Overall, only come here for drinks - so long as you're okay with waiting forever & a day for them.
