Ridiculously good homemade Thai food, great people, adorbs interior and the name loosely translates to mother's love (comfort food). We loved our dinner so much that we ordered lunch delivered the next day. The food held up well in transit. Best crab rangoon I've ever had. Great pot stickers (crispy all around). Khao soi was rich and hearty with traditional chicken drumsticks that were so tender. Boat noodles had the most flavorful broth. Service was pretty prompt and food tasty - just know it's a little sweet. Came on a weekend and was able to get a table pretty quickly. Tried the pot stickers, coconut prawns, the soft shell crab pad Thai and another a rice dish. The pot stickers and prawns were the highlights for me. There was a bit of sweetness in the dipping sauces for the prawns but that complemented the prawns nicely. The pot stickers were very good and the dipping sauce delish. The pad thai noodles were a bit over cooked and too sweet for me personally but my husband said the soft shell crab was tasty. The rice was nice but again there was a sweetness to it that seemed misplaced for me personally. Would recommend you try and make up your own mind. read more

Flavors are wonderful. I order the panang curry chicken. Usually get take out/delivery because I don't live close by. But the reason for the two stars is because every time, there is barely any chicken in the curry. There are only 2- 3 bites of chicken in the curry and the rest of the container is filled with vegetables. If they increase the amount of chicken in their chicken panang curry, it deserves a better rating. read more

WORST takeout I've ever had! I ordered the Pad Kee Mow with chicken. The noodles were all broken into small, soggy pieces and swimming in oil. I kept having to spit out chicken pieces due to tendon or skin. The only veggies were onion and cabbage, whereas there are usually peppers, tomato, and basil leaves in it. Additionally, there was an eggshell in mine. The sauce was way too sweet--nauseatingly sweet. It was a dish that you know is going to make you feel sick later. First and last time coming in. Super disappointing since this place is right next door and I was really hoping it would be good! :( read more

Their crab rangoons are delicious, I think about them a lot. The curry adds so much dimension to the appetizer, I feel as though I could eat a whole plate of them. Their dipping sauces are sweet but pair well with their vegetable rolls and crab rangoons. Their pad thai is on the sweeter side and yet it is still quite tasty. Their decor is on the cuter side and the space is vibrant. I do wish there was a tad bit more space between the tables but it definitely was not a dealbreaker. The service was alright. read more

I've ordered from Rukdiew Cafe exactly three times and each time the food is solid. My go to order is Thai iced tea, fresh rolls with tofu, and kana moo krob or fried pork belly and greens with garlic sauce. The order arrived warm and in time, each with thoughtful delivery and packaging. For the guest two meals the food was very tasty, pork belly was luscious and still crispy, and the rolls had fresh ingredients and well cooked noodles that weren't mushy. The 4 star rating is due to portions being inconsistent and flavor also fluctuating. The third meal wasn't as fulfilling in size and in taste as it was almost too salty to eat. How confusing given the excellent experiences with the very same dishes prior. Perhaps it was an off day? In any case, this order give or take a green papaya salad is my standard and Rukdiew for the most part satiates my savory cravings. When the food hits, it is stellar and when it's amiss, it is noticeable. Take your chances and you might get a wonderfully comforting, well spiced and delicious meal. For 35 years this building has housed one Thai restaurant or another, and as a child this was the first place I had tofu. Rukdiew is definitely the best iteration of Thai restaurant in this spot (Kala was also amazing). The trout filet over pad Thai... the pork belly and Chinese broccoli... and the staple noodle dishes like Pad See Ew are consistently good. I think Rukdiew is a step above a lot of other Thai places. The decor and drinks get five stars. The drink special I got was delicious with a super fun presentation and the decor is so sweet. But speaking of sweet...The food gets 2 stars. I got the soft shell crab pad Thai and the major flavor was sweetness, and the consensus at the table was that all of our entrees were way too sweet. I now see that I'm not the only patron with this complaint. We really wanted to like this place, we really did. We made reservations for 7:00pm, when we walked in at 7:00 the place was packed and a mass of people were waiting at the door. I quickly realized there was no hostess and absolutely no one directing the confusion of everyone at the door. Customers asking other customers if they had reservations or if someone came over to speak to them yet. It took 15 minutes to be acknowledged by the staff! They didn't care about reservations it was just a free for all. We finally sat down 25 minutes after when we were supposed to. From there on out the servers were slammed and service was super slow. I honestly felt sad for the server, you could see their exhaustion. Food Recommendations- I'd skip the soft shell crab pad Thai, it was average padthai (could use more flavor) with a soft shell crab slapped on top like it was a after thought. The crab Rangoon were almost all cream cheese and little to no crab. But the seasoning was great. The best thing we had was the Khao Soi and yes it's great as left overs the next day. If we come back, we'd just order takeout. Front of house really needs to be more organized and someone need to take charge of the door/people seating. read more

This place is honestly a pleasant surprise. I was hungry and wanted to order something close through GrubHub, and this place popped up. I was hesitant at first, as there were not many reviews, and the pricing seemed too reasonable. I ordered the yellow curry, crispy pork belly, and mango sticky rice. This place is so good given the price and plating. Their yellow curry is full of aroma with a slight kick, pork belly is good, but I think it would be better as a kana moo grob, and I wasn't too crazy with the mango sticky rice because the mango was not ripe yet, and the rice could use more coconut sauce. The somtum was ok, but the overall taste was sweet. No acidity/citrus, no real funk. Just boring. The Pad Thai was flavorless, as was the fried trout, and was served with an oddly sweet peanut sauce on the side to act as a topping. Not authentic at all. Atmosphere was cute and decorated for an insta flick, but super loud. My friend and I felt like we were trying to talk to each other in a club bc it was so loud. I ordered Thai tea, and it did not taste like Thai tea. It was way too sweet and almost tasted like coconut milk was in it. The Crab Rangoon I saw were a hit with a lot of people writing reviews but I personally thought they were mid. They overcooked the fried rice and it was all mushy and stuck together. I loved the flavor but was missing the bamboo shoots (my favorite). Then I had the pineapple fried rice the second time it was also really good.
