    *NEW* Mixed Shawarma Plate

Out beyond ideas of wrong and right, There is a field. I will meet you there. Food was great, prices were fine and the quality of the meal made it worth it, cool interior, kid behind the counter was helpful could maybe take off the headphones but that didnt really make or break my pickup experience.

The food looks bigger in the photo than what is served. Falafel plate, $15.75, tax inc.

It was just ok. For what I paid, the portion was kind of smallish, and I didn't think it was anywhere near the quality you'd get from other places. I still hold Falafel & Grill (a few blocks away) and Middle East Grill (Andersonville) as the standards for great Middle Eastern food in Chicago, and Rumi doesn't come close in quality, ingredients, nor atmosphere. Where's the fun?? You order via a kiosk, and you don't have any interaction with the staff. $15.75 is waaay too expensive for a simple Falafel Plate. The falafel balls were good, but the barely-seasoned Basmati rice was borderline dry and lifeless. It was only after I ordered that I noticed they offer lunch specials.

Love this place! Had to leave you guys a second review. It's hard to come across authenticity these days but no joke the consistency of this place is why I keep coming back. I usually order their kafta kabab plate or beef shawarma or kafta wrap. Falafil & hummus is a must. Kafta was juicy & that's usually my go to. Chicken kababs good but second place for me I'm a meat eater kinda guy. Parking could be better but I never had a problem. Milwaukee can be busy depending on the time of day but I usually park on Honore st which is the side street just passed their restaurant. It's usually free in the evenings.

Such a great spot for quick service and deliciously healthy food. This place is family owned-- support local! They deserve it! I loved the chicken shawarma, hummus, and the flavorful falafel. The portions here are generous, the food is healthy, and everything tastes fresh. I'm not usually a falafel fan but theirs was perfect texture wise and not dry. 10/10 meal. I appreciate that the owners have made the dining space feeling inviting and comfortable even if a quick service restaurant.

MUST TRY!!! The Chicken Shawarma Wrap is absolutely delicious and fully of flavor. Be sure to ask for their spicy sauce. You will feel full after the wrap but will not feel like you overate. The veggies and marinated chicken are a healthy combo. Their bottled ginger ale is a must!! Highly recommend this restaurant! Create customer service and nice seating area. I can't wait to go back again myself.

We ordered tonight because I don't know how to plan meals. I really wanted Mediterranean and somehow stumbled upon Rumi. Ordering was frustrating... when I went to the site I entered my address first thing to check whether they delivered here, and the site indicated they did. But when I tried to add a modification to one of the items we wanted to order it didn't have an option for that... so I called, only to find out that they didn't deliver here. So according to the dude who I spoke with, I couldn't order over the phone for delivery because I was outside the delivery zone but I could order online because GrubHub or whatnot would pick it up. Weird. The food was good. The portions were adequate and the meat was flavorful. I didn't have much of the accompanying vegetables but the pickles were pretty good. The garlic sauce hasn't replaced my favorite, but it was good nonetheless. I would eat here again if I was near the restaurant, but not sure about using the ordering system again. However, it did get here pretty quickly--about half hour after I got a text saying it was picked up--and that I definitely appreciated.

I called them because I wasn't sure if the online version would be too slow. We were a group of three that came in Saturday night at 7 pm. It was moderately busy. The staff were all welcoming with smiles on their faces and attentiveness. Prices were fair for the amount of food you receive. Food portions are colossal so I would recommend one appetizer and one entree if you are a couple. They give you a complimentary dish. We ordered arayes with meat, meat toshka, mixed grill with baba ghanouj, fillet of basa fried, and mint lemonade. They also offer you fresh Arabic coffee before you leave. This is about a 4.5-5. -arayes with meat 4 - this was not bad. It's like a tamer version of the meat toshka. -meat toshka 5 - I prefer this over the arayes because they add the Syrian cheese. This one was bursting with flavor the moment you took a bite out of it. The minced beef and lamb just melt in the mouth. -mixed grill 5 - this came with 3 big skewers (shish kabab, kufta kabab, and chicken tawook. It also has tomatoes and onions to help cut down the meat when digesting. There are two heaping portions of biryani and saffron rice and baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj was creamy and flavorful. It goes well with the pita bread. The meats were cooked medium well unless you want something. I think next time I'll ask for the shish kababs to be cooked medium rare or medium for a more juicy taste. The chicken tawook and kufta were both succulent. -fillet of basa fried 5 - the two pieces of basa fillet were astronomical. It also comes with two different kinds of rice. The fish was flaky, moist, and seasoned. Make sure you add the lemon and eat it with the sauce. -mint lemonade 5 - this was very refreshing after eating a heavy meal.

This place is a local gem: simple, quick, casual, but packed with flavor. Though unassuming on the outside, this place serves yummy Lebanese food at high ROI. Of the two shawarma plates I tried, I fancy the beef, but I tend to lean beef. The chicken was clean and flavorful. The hummus is creamy and delicious and the plates are served with a balsamic fresh salad on the side. In general, the food here were not pricy. Moreover, everyday it has some discounts, e.g., on Tajine Thursday the Tajine dishes are only $15. The restaurant also had many local decors. Sitting inside really made me feel as if I was having a meal in Morocco. I ordered the beet salad and Lamb Fez (lamb shank Tajine). Both dishes were generous in size. The salad tasted fresh but lacked flavor. I could hardly taste the acidity of lemon juice. The Tajine was really new to me. I only had chicken Tajine before and the ingredients were quite different from this one: the lamb shank was cooked with prunes, cinnamon, honey and caramelized onions, so that it had lots of sweetness (in fact, a bit too sweet for me). It was topped with some hard boiled eggs and almonds. Try blending the egg yolk with the sauce/broth and having it with the lamb. The almonds added some crisp ones to the fork-tender meat. Food came out in reasonable time but other than that, the service was so-so. While there was an ATM machine, when I asked about payment methods, they did not inform me of it; nor did my server inform me of the cash-only policy. After another friendly greeting, we were seated and given a quick explanation of the options for our meal and for drinks, as well. One of us ordered the #7 cocktail, sa'baa, which we considered to be medium-sweet, as far as gin-based, fruit-forward cocktails are concerned. Perfectly balanced, in the opinion of the primary drinker. (Me!) My favorite gin cocktail in a while. (#7 SA'BAA COCKTAIL, 5/5) Another member of our party of 3 ordered the #0 N/A SIFR cocktail, which I felt was perhaps the only underwhelming flavor of the evening. However, the order-er of this cocktail thought it was good. (#0 N/A SIFR COCKTAIL 3.5/5) We debated the merits of a la carte versus tasting menu, and went with the tasting menu for all three of us, given our level of late-Friday hunger. Prepare the have ample left over if you opt for the tasting menu without an appetite to match. TASTING MENU OPENING COURSE: Hummus, 4.5/5 For the opening course, we were served the hummus and pita. If you prefer a sturdy amount of pita with every spoonful of hummus, do yourself a favor and order an extra pita per person. The hummus is beautifully seasoned, with just enough oil to provide a sumptuously-smooth texture that delivers the pepper and other flavors with perfect balance. Delicious. (HUMMUS w/ PITA, 4.5/5) TASTING MENU SMALL PLATES COURSE: Scallops (5/5), lamb kebab (4.5/5), maitaki roasted mushroom (5/5) The server and kitchen collaborated nicely to delivery each course perfectly-cooked and perfectly-timed. Despite our late seating, we never felt rushed. All three diners at our table, myself enthusiastically included, felt that this second course was the strongest out of the four courses offered with the tasting menu. Scallops are delightfully and delicately seasoned and briefly flame-kissed, served on top of a luscious, peppery orange sauce. Good lord, what a bite. We wanted five hundred of these. (SCALLOPS, 5/5) The lamb kebab can really only be faulted for how little we were given. I'd hope for a bigger portion. If you know you'll love it, which you will, just order a bonus order of this. (LAMB KEBAB, 4.5/5) Maitaki mushroom. Whew! Just getting started and hitting it out of the park with this one. I strongly felt that this was the strongest bite of the entire meal, though my companions landed firmly on the scallop for this title. A mushroom of this quality cooked with this skill is genuinely difficult to find in all but a few high-end spots, so consider this a rare opportunity and treat. ORDER THE MAITAKI! I will have words for this restaurant if this particular preparation of this particular mushroom ever departs their menu. (MAITAKI, 5/5) TASTING MENU ENTREE COURSE: Ravioli-type Manti-and-morel-mushroom thing (4.5/5), branzino (5/5), lamb shank (4/5) Not as much to say about this course. Obviously delicious, but the branzino was a standout. Maybe if we came again we'd order JUST the branzino from this list, especially if we weren't as hungry. It's so good. Not overly-salty like many fish dishes prepared in this manner. Wow. TASTING MENU DESSERT COURSE, toasted strawberries and cream (4.5/5) This is served cold. It is better that it is. It is very good. Quality berries and quality cream were used. SERVICE WAS SO GOOD! Whoever from the restaurant sees this, if anyone does, ought to track down whoever it was that was serving Nidhi, party of three, on Friday, 06/19 and give them a medal or something. Service like this is a class above what I'd even expect of a restaurant at this price point.

In hindsight, it would've been a great opportunity to dress up & make a more formal date out of it but we had fun nonetheless. We called to ask if they were taking walk-ins but the person who answered seemed a bit unsure. We decided to check it out anyways and were able to be seated at the bar. The atmosphere was neat, modern, with sleek lines. Service was fine but nothing remarkable. It was our first time dining and I do wish they explained the menu to us. For example, we were unaware that the meat dishes did not come with rice until later. Additionally, it was difficult to ascertain how much food we were ordering and if we were ordering "correctly." Keep in mind some of the cocktails are pre-batched so you're unable to adjust certain aspects. For context, I am not a huge fan of Mediterranean food but my fiance is and we always enjoy exploring different dishes and cuisines. We spent about $120 and left full (take our fullness with a grain of salt because we did eat a few hrs before). For our spread, we got the Eggplant ($18, gf, nuts) which had Tahini Yogurt, Mint, Pine Nuts. It came with a single pita bread so we ordered an extra. The Eggplant spread had pomegranates which was surprising and added a refreshing tartness to the dish. I enjoyed it, but don't think I would order it again or find myself craving it. For our small plate, we ordered the Grilled Asparagus with Smoked Labneh, Hazelnuts, Urfa Chili Crunch ($22, dairy, nuts). Now THIS...is something to write home about. 10/10. Amazing. It was tender with a little crunch, perfectly smokey and sweet, and addicting. Vegetable dishes can be "just fine" but I would consider this comparable to the satisfaction you get from an entree. I WILL be craving this (my fiance also agrees). For our side, we got the Batata Harra ($12, gf, v) which were crispy fried potatoes tossed in a spicy sauce. Usually potatoes can be very plain but this was very well seasoned in the sauce, a little too much in my opinion. The sauce had seeped into the potatoes to the point it became very soggy and almost too salty despite the plain potato interior. Rice probably would have been a better option. From the grill, we got the Lamb Kebab ($26, gf, halal) with Tzatziki and Sumac Onions and Tiger Prawns ($26, gf) with Toum & Harissa Emulsion, Lemon, Dill. For the price of the lamb kebab, it came as a single skewer which was pretty steep for the price. Fortunately for us (and unfortunately for my fiance's wallet), it was some of the best lamb we have had. It was super tender, flavorful, not gamey, and you did not even need the tzatziki which is a big compliment in my book as a Sauce Girl. There were 2 Tiger prawns and although they were big, I wish we were aware it would only be 2. Once again...we loved it. The prawns were well cooked with a nice tenderness and subtle snap. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. I am not sure if I would return, but it was a fun experience and I can definitely see myself ordering the grilled asparagus for take-out.

We chose to dine at Girl & the Goat in Chicago, a restaurant we had never visited before. The acclaimed restaurant by renowned chef Stephanie Izard truly lived up to its stellar reputation! One of the first things we appreciated was the convenience of the restaurant's valet parking, located right by the front patio. At $22 for up to four hours and $26 for four to eight hours, the rates were quite reasonable for the area. As soon as the three of us stepped inside Girl & the Goat (we had made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Friday), we were warmly greeted by one of the two friendly hostesses, and were promptly led to a comfortable four-top table with a banquette and two chairs along the wall. We felt fortunate to have one of the better tables in the dining room, as some of the others were positioned very close together. The nearby two-top tables, in particular, were quite small and placed only a short distance from ours. The restaurant's rustic-industrial décor was dark but trendy and stylish, the lively and vibrant vibe was warm and welcoming. However, I have to mention that it was really loud in the dining room, as guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and talked loudly.  It was hard to hear our server and the staff who delivered and explained the dishes to us.  Our server, Yazmin, was extremely friendly and attentive.  It was very sweet of her to wish us a happy anniversary both in the beginning  and at the end of the meal.  She also checked in on us several times during the evening.  Now, on to the food and drinks. I started with a glass of the NA Sparkling Rosé ($17), which was light, crisp, and quite refreshing. My husband ordered a glass of Le Colture Prosecco ($18), while our daughter chose the Sun Kid ($18). She enjoyed her drink, although she felt the portion was a bit small, as the glass was filled with a lot of ice that took up much of the space. Since the restaurant offers small to medium plates which are shareable, Yazmin advised us to get 5 to 6 dishes for 3 people to share.  We decided to get 5 savory dishes and 3 desserts to share: Savory dishes: - Chickpea Fritters ($20), goat yogurt, green chutney, sev spice crunch, pickled rhubarb. - Pan Roasted Halibut ($37), miso-Marcona almond butter, spring onion blueberry nuoc cham. - Roasted Pig Face ($28), sunny side egg, tamarind, cilantro, red wine-maple, potato stix. - Goat Empanadas ($24), smoked tomato-corn salsa, roasted poblano crema queso fresco. - Confit Goat Belly ($38), strawberry goat braise, smoked yogurt drizzle, pickled strawberries. Desserts: - Vacation, Please! ($16), toasted coconut crunch, lemon passion fruit sorbet, rum-soaked pineapple cake. - Berry Yummy Par-tea ($16), earl grey soaked sponge cake, yuzu curd, spiced blackberries. - Chocolate Basil Brownie Bash ($16), olive oil semifreddo, chocolate fennel crunch, basil granita. The meal was just phenomenal!  All the savory dishes were cooked perfectly with bold flavors; the meats were tender and full of flavors.  There were dishes that we normally would not have ordered if we saw them on menus of other restaurants.  Here, we tried them and were delighted that we did!  Our consensus is that Roasted Pig Face is our most favorite! It is everything we love in a comfort dish -- crispy on the outside, meltingly tender inside, and packed with rich, balanced flavor.  We will definitely order this again!  The Confit Goat Belly is a close second, with buttery, fall-apart meat and just the right balance of richness, acidity, and crunch. For dessert, "Vacation, Please!" is the one that we will always come back for. The toasted coconut crunch adds texture, the lemon passion fruit sorbet brings a refreshing tang, and the rum-soaked pineapple cake ties it all together with just the right amount of sweetness.  The other two desserts that we ordered were also very good.  The staff even brought out a scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream on the house, with two lit candles to celebrate our anniversary - a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable.  This dessert spread was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. I'd like to mention that the restaurant added a 4% surcharge to the bill, which the customer may request to have the surcharge remove if you choose.  We let them keep it. We spent about two hours at the restaurant. The savory dishes came out very quickly, the pace probably was even a tad too fast, but the desserts made up for it by taking a longer time.  We did not mind as we were still full, and had time to enjoy the ambiance more.  I would say it is a restaurant great for group gathering and celebratory functions, but not so much for intimate romantic date night.  All in all, it was a wonderful dinner, we look forward to returning again.

I was there the other week (I've been here at least five times before), and a busser--not our…read morewaiter--started clearing both of our plates before we were finished eating. We each only had a couple of bites left, but it definitely gave off an "okay, you're done now" vibe. Then he went to take the green beans (arguably the cult classic on the menu), and we still had more than half of them left. I had to stop him and say, "Yeah, we're not done with those. We paid for them. Can you put them in a to-go box instead?" For context, it was about 20 minutes before closing, but we ordered with plenty of time and were already eating with a "get in, eat, and get out" mindset. I've just never had someone at a restaurant start clearing plates while we were still actively eating--without asking, "Are you finished?" "Can I clear this?" or "Would you like a to-go box?" It was just... "You're done, these are leaving now." We were there for less than 45 minutes, left about 15 minutes before closing, and spent over $200 (not including the tip). With so many options in Chicago, I don't see myself coming back here.
