This isn't a sit down eatery but rather a combination market with a deli/bakery counter in the back including both cooked and raw meat and a small refrigerated section. I enjoyed my rice plate which came with two grilled meats, lettuce and tomatoes, all topped with a white sauce. It was enough for two meals. The dessert display which was very tempting, so I'll have to come back. If you're looking to grab spices and other ingredients, especially for a middle eastern dish, while getting some hot food or delicious pastries to go, this is your place. read more

I'm so glad I tried this place. Rumi's is a Middle Eastern market that doubles as a butcher's, bakery, and hot food restaurant. The place is clean and enticingly organized. There are many other assorted nuts, treats, and pastries to ogle at while you're waiting for food. The chickpea noodle crackers I bought are nutty and addicting for a salad topper. There is a seating area at the front. The Qaimaq Chai was florally sweet and served hot. This is a pink cardamom milk tea topped with clotted cream, which floats in the tea like a milky fillo dough layer. The word "chai" means "tea" and is NOT synonymous with the Americanized cinnamon chai you can order at Starbucks. Would highly recommend this drink. The soft, doughy Pita Wrap can be filled with chicken or lamb kebab. The meat was flavorful and all the ingredients - cucumber, cilantro, tomato, and pickled red onions were tossed well in a garlic yogurt sauce. At other places, the sauce is sometimes added on top making the bottom layer of the pita dry. I like how Rumi's tossed the ingredients together for a satisfyingly creamy bite. Service was a little brusque, but I think I came with the lunchtime line. I would definitely point someone to this location for authentic Middle Eastern food. read more

I was very excited about this place opening up in the area. the location seemed just right -- with daiso, happy lemon, homegoods, trader joe's nearby it seemed like a perfect spot to swoop in after running errands. upon walking in, you get a whiff of the most aromatic spices. I was desperately hungry after the gym and was excited to grub. I was excited to try their nachos since Ive been craving fried pita for awhile. I noticed that there was no present cashier, and it was just me + another customer in the store. I walk to the back of the shop where the bakery/deli is located. right off the bat, there's a cook, an older woman, and a younger woman behind the counter. since nobody was ordering, it was perfect to scan their baked goods. their bakery is honestly phenomenal, I'll give them that. if you're looking for unique flavors and a wide selection of baked goods to try, I highly suggest giving their bakery a shot. however, the owner should consider labeling each item + their prices. it'll speed up time and won't leave a customer wondering if they're about to purchase a $3 treat or a $9 two-biter. I know that they routinely switch out their baked goods, but almost every bakery that does that still labels their goods. just buy a marker and hand write it, your glass panels are big enough for that. there's no posted menu for their hot-foods on the wall so you have to wait until you reach the counter to look at their menu. since there was no present cashier in the front, the other customer that was confused where the hell the cashier is, had to come and wait in line to pay for her goods at the bakery. she was like "is this the line for everything?", obviously ticked off that she waited five minutes at the front register for no reason, and I was like "I guess so!" another couple were confused as well since they didn't know where to go to pay for their spices, asking the young woman if they can just pay for their stuff at the bakery. finally, we place our order + an order of a few pastries from the bakery. I ask for the mediterranean nachos, the young woman tells me that they don't have any. I'm like "okay.." and proceed to order a salad with lamb. she tells us our order will take around 25 minutes and to wait in the dining/seating area. after paying and sitting down, the young woman scurries over and tells us that they don't have salad ingredients (what?) and she says "okay so what else do you want" before I can even look at the menu again. at this point, I'm irritated and say I'll just have the bowl with lamb. she's like "with beef?" as she's already writing down beef. I'm staring at her notepad being like "yeah" cause I don't wanna bother correcting her. she tells us that our order will be priority and first ones out. keep this in mind. I sit down and their cellular service is absolute horrendous because I can't even send a text without it not going through. I'm like okay, this is gonna be an agonizing 25 minutes since there's no TV or entertainment either. after 15 minutes, we decide to shop around trader joe's and come back to our food. mind you, we spend a good 25 minutes in trader joe's before going back. at this point, I'm starving and a quick stop for dinner turned into a 45 minute wait. we come back in the store and make eye contact with the young woman frequently. almost to hint "where's my food at" telepathically. I'll cut them some slack though, it seemed like they were getting a bunch of orders (even though we ordered first...when they weren't busy at all). we go back to the sitting area and there's a family with a whole feast. I'm like okayyy... that looks good but where's our food? we also walked around the store a few times while waiting, I could honestly redraw the entire blueprint of the store because of how many times we walked around. another 20 minutes go by, and I'm distracting myself by reading every single label of the whole entire shelf of teas that they sell (which is admirable). finally, our food is ready. btw, we ordered two bowls, so I don't know why it took over an hour to make. food was pretty good, they give 20% meat and 80% rice which is kinda annoying, cause you're practically paying for rice at this point. also this wasn't even the food I originally wanted so of course I'm gonna be disappointed when it doesn't reach my expectations. their baked goods is what's gonna keep them in business. they need to hire more people + improve customer service. you wanna value your customer's time and patience if you plan on keeping them as a customer. otherwise, good luck surviving. read more

I have driven by Rumi's Oasis many times, and I never pay attention because they look like home decoration or furniture stores. I decided to check them out today, and I'm a little surprised that Rumi's Oasis combines a middle-eastern grocery store, a bakery, and a coffee shop. They have a nice seating area inside the store next to the entrance. They also have a few more tables to enjoy your food and drinks outside. I prefer the inside seats. They have some beautiful decorations in the indoor seating area. I always thought the food and beverages taste better when I enjoy them in a beautiful place. The workers are amiable! I wanted to love this so bad. I've had other Dubai chocolates and the pistachio cream is delicious BUT this one taste like pure tahini. Super disappointed and is was so tiny for $8.99. They said it's cuz of the pistachio cream is expensive but it didn't taste like it at all. Food is good quality but service is 1/5. The workers are not well trained. Ordered kids meal with fries and drink and pizza. Took about 45 minutes. No updates and had to check several times. When kids meal came out I realized it didn't have the fries or the drink that was supposed to be included. The worker picked a random soda from the drink counter and gave it to me. Completely forgot the fries included but I could not wait any longer. My family and I recently found this place. We had the chance to try out both their breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Everything we have tried has been really delicious, but our favorite is their breakfast. We really like their leek eggs and tomato eggs. Both dishes come with a side of cheese, butter, jam, cucumbers and bread. It's kind of cool because they rotate the cheeses and jams, so it's exciting to come and see what they will serve when you visit. The service is good, but a tad bit slow. I have a little one so I always have to make sure to have a snack on me since it takes a bit for food to be made freshly. I would definitely also recommend trying their pumpkin Bolani (to die for) and the lamb kabobs. The ambience is nice as it feels like a little coffee shop within a store. Every time I've been in there, Sister Lena and the crew have shown the utmost love. It's always a joy visiting. My usual go to is a combo kabob platter with koobideh and beef tikka kabob. The rice and shirazi salad are the perfect accompaniment. I always ask for extra yogurt sauce and chutney because both are house made. When the brothers and I want to share something, a perfectly crafted squash or potato bolani is the go to. Easily one of the best squash bolani's I've ever had in my life. Crispy and stuffed generously. Extra yogurt and chutney with that as well. I always have to get an iced qaymach chai with every visit, safe to say I might be addicted . The reason for my mediocre review is because there is no information available about what food they serve. The only way to view their offerings is through a standing iPad-esque ordering station. There were no written board or paper menus and I thought that was a huge disservice to the population who may be mobility limited as well as to those who may read more slowly than others, or older folks who may just not understand or like the use of technology. The fact that the woman behind the counter simply said you can order over there and pointed to the screen stand and offered no assistance was offputting. While we were going to sit and enjoy lunch there, I was annoyed by the lack of service and attention to customers. We ended up leaving With a slice of pistachio baklava, which was divine! This spot has been open for a while but I haven't found myself in the area at the right time. Yesterday I saw them post an iced pink chai drink on Instagram and I was instantly convinced we needed to go. It's like a one stop shop here - a mini market, butcher shop, bakery, and cafe/restaurant. Even though I mainly just wanted the drink, we decided to just get food since we were already there. My drink came out first, which is called the qaimaq chai, and naturally comes out pink from the tea. It was so delicious, and PRETTY! It has a stronger cardamom taste though, rather than your traditional chai you'd find at a coffee shop. I'm not a huge cardamom fan but I still enjoyed the drink. It was creamy and tasted yummy. Once I placed our food order, I just stood there waiting for it. It seemed like I was standing there forever and would've wanted to just pay while I was waiting but it really only took about 10 mins. I didn't feel super welcomed at first but towards the end they seemed more friendly and asked how I liked my drink while I was waiting for the food. There are tables inside and several tables outside as well, many of which are in the shade, perfect for a warm summer evening. My lamb/beef bowl was yummy. I was a little confused because the menu states "your choice of kabob" so I picked the koobideh but then he said it doesn't come with kabob and I had to pick one of the doner meat. Not sure if they realize the menu description is wrong. The lamb/beef meat was tender though and I'm glad I was able to get that even if I couldn't get the koobideh. It looks small but it's only an $8 dish, and I was actually quite full off of it even without finishing all the rice. I loved the sauces on top (get it spicy!) and the fresh veggies mixed in. My husband enjoyed his burger even though it's probably not what you'd typically order here. I wish they had a bigger cafe and restaurant menu but it's not bad considering it's a fast casual place and there aren't many places with this type of food on this side of Elk Grove. All the pastries looked so delicious, I just wish they were all labeled! We didn't order any but next time I will be stopping by again for a chai and pastries to go. read more
