Rumi's Oasis is a beautiful middle eastern shop located in the same plaza as Daiso, Happy Lemon, and Trader Joe's. You can smell the combination of warm spices just outside the door and it's very welcoming and enticing. My sister and I went to go try their viral dubai chocolate bars that they make in house. After searching long and far to find this bar everywhere in Elk Grove, we were able to find it with the helpful guidance of the staff at the front of the store. They are located at the back of the store with the pastries. There are two options: milk and dark chocolate. As a milk chocoholic, I knew I had to try the milk. For about $8, you get a pretty small bar, but I guess that's just how business is nowadays. The chocolate was great, but I felt like something in there tasted off. I think the thin packaging absorbed the other tastes and smells from the other desserts in the case. I would recommend the owners to consider a more seal proof packaging to maintain the flavors. I knocked down 2 stars specifically for the price/size and thin packaging affecting the taste. So excited that I stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant! Clearly family run with some of the nicest people working here. We put our order in, and the food came out beautifully plated and EVERYTHING was amazing and delicious. The butter chicken was heavenly. Perfectly cooked with an amazing sauce that did not break AT ALL. It stayed its lovely creamy consistency the entire time. Fries cooked and seasoned so well I proclaimed they were the best fries I've ever had in my life. We also got hummus, flatbread and mixed veggies on the house! They make everything in house right down to the butter. The restaurant and deli are beautifully decorated with soft lighting and pretty paintings and plants. The staff came and checked on us multiple times and we had nothing but rave reviews the whole time. Do yourself a favor, and start a nice afternoon of shopping at this amazing spot. I went in to buy a few things at the store. It was my first time there. I ended up buying a hot chocolate, pita, a large container of hummus, and several pastries. The pita I purchased looked completely normal from the front. I tried to have some pita the following day, but the bag was molded. The front looks normal, but whoever packaged the pita put the molded parts on the back. See the image attached. I contacted the store to get help with this because they sold me moldy pita. I have no idea if they removed the rest of the pita in the store that was molded. The bag had no exp. date and no date created on it, so it's unclear how they keep track of which bags are expired or near expiration. The store never got back to me. I wasn't rude. I didn't yell, no bad words, etc. I just reported it and they just didn't care. read more

This isn't a sit down eatery but rather a combination market with a deli/bakery counter in the back including both cooked and raw meat and a small refrigerated section. I enjoyed my rice plate which came with two grilled meats, lettuce and tomatoes, all topped with a white sauce. It was enough for two meals. The dessert display which was very tempting, so I'll have to come back. We dined in a couple weeks ago for the first time and we're so happy with the experience. The food took a little longer than expected, but when it arrived, it was absolutely delicious. The owner (I assume), brought us a complimentary appetizer to try while we were waiting, which more than made up for the wait. It was something I wouldn't normally order, but I definitely will now! The food is so fresh and flavorful. My husband and I order takeout every Friday from another establishment. Yesterday, he wanted to pickup food close to our house; and I said, "let's try that Rumi's again." I ordered a beef/lamb bowl with no rice and sub the pickled onion for fresh. We also ordered the Mediterranean nachos (second time) and a gyro. There was a little miscommunication and I ended up with just meat and onions in a bowl. When I called to let them know I expected a salad, the lovely lady (Linna) not only said she would re-make it how I wanted it, but also stated she was getting ready to go home and would GLADLY DROP IT OFF TO ME!!! Seriously!!! I couldn't believe it. I've not experienced such thoughtful customer service in a very long time. So we stayed in our jammies and kept sipping our adult beverages as my perfect salad bowl arrived as promised. We'll be regular customers now, for as long as they're in business. This is more of a 4.5 than a 4/5 stars Came in for the first time after passing by this place multiple times. When you walk in it smells AMAZING and it made me so hungry so I decided to see what they had to offer. This little shop is basically a traditional supermarket that has all you need when it comes to snacks, spices, yogurt and more with a bakery, butcher, and a food corner with seating. Ordered at the kiosk they had by the bakery to get some half potato and half leek bolani, hummus with pita bread, and a lamb/gyro bowl. They offer drinks on the kiosk but pastries you would have to order directly from one of the staff in the bakery. The wait time for the food was long but I think it was due to limited staff and when I got my order the food was literally straight up fresh from the stove, oven, or whatever they use to make the food. I've had a lil more flavorful lamb/gyro bowls from other places but i think it came down to too much rice or just not enough pickled onions? That's just my personal preference I think and will adjust for next time and would definitely come back to try out the drinks, pastries, and for sure order the bolani again with extra extra sauces because 2 was definitely not enough for a large order. I'm so glad I tried this place. Rumi's is a Middle Eastern market that doubles as a butcher's, bakery, and hot food restaurant. The place is clean and enticingly organized. There are many other assorted nuts, treats, and pastries to ogle at while you're waiting for food. The chickpea noodle crackers I bought are nutty and addicting for a salad topper. There is a seating area at the front. The Qaimaq Chai was florally sweet and served hot. This is a pink cardamom milk tea topped with clotted cream, which floats in the tea like a milky fillo dough layer. The word "chai" means "tea" and is NOT synonymous with the Americanized cinnamon chai you can order at Starbucks. Would highly recommend this drink. The soft, doughy Pita Wrap can be filled with chicken or lamb kebab. The meat was flavorful and all the ingredients - cucumber, cilantro, tomato, and pickled red onions were tossed well in a garlic yogurt sauce. At other places, the sauce is sometimes added on top making the bottom layer of the pita dry. I like how Rumi's tossed the ingredients together for a satisfyingly creamy bite. Service was a little brusque, but I think I came with the lunchtime line. I would definitely point someone to this location for authentic Middle Eastern food. read more

I was very excited about this place opening up in the area. the location seemed just right -- with daiso, happy lemon, homegoods, trader joe's nearby it seemed like a perfect spot to swoop in after running errands. upon walking in, you get a whiff of the most aromatic spices. I was desperately hungry after the gym and was excited to grub. I was excited to try their nachos since Ive been craving fried pita for awhile. I noticed that there was no present cashier, and it was just me + another customer in the store. I walk to the back of the shop where the bakery/deli is located. right off the bat, there's a cook, an older woman, and a younger woman behind the counter. since nobody was ordering, it was perfect to scan their baked goods. their bakery is honestly phenomenal, I'll give them that. if you're looking for unique flavors and a wide selection of baked goods to try, I highly suggest giving their bakery a shot. however, the owner should consider labeling each item + their prices. it'll speed up time and won't leave a customer wondering if they're about to purchase a $3 treat or a $9 two-biter. I know that they routinely switch out their baked goods, but almost every bakery that does that still labels their goods. just buy a marker and hand write it, your glass panels are big enough for that. there's no posted menu for their hot-foods on the wall so you have to wait until you reach the counter to look at their menu. since there was no present cashier in the front, the other customer that was confused where the hell the cashier is, had to come and wait in line to pay for her goods at the bakery. she was like "is this the line for everything?", obviously ticked off that she waited five minutes at the front register for no reason, and I was like "I guess so!" another couple were confused as well since they didn't know where to go to pay for their spices, asking the young woman if they can just pay for their stuff at the bakery. finally, we place our order + an order of a few pastries from the bakery. I ask for the mediterranean nachos, the young woman tells me that they don't have any. I'm like "okay.." and proceed to order a salad with lamb. she tells us our order will take around 25 minutes and to wait in the dining/seating area. after paying and sitting down, the young woman scurries over and tells us that they don't have salad ingredients (what?) and she says "okay so what else do you want" before I can even look at the menu again. at this point, I'm irritated and say I'll just have the bowl with lamb. she's like "with beef?" as she's already writing down beef. I'm staring at her notepad being like "yeah" cause I don't wanna bother correcting her. she tells us that our order will be priority and first ones out. keep this in mind. I sit down and their cellular service is absolute horrendous because I can't even send a text without it not going through. I'm like okay, this is gonna be an agonizing 25 minutes since there's no TV or entertainment either. after 15 minutes, we decide to shop around trader joe's and come back to our food. mind you, we spend a good 25 minutes in trader joe's before going back. at this point, I'm starving and a quick stop for dinner turned into a 45 minute wait. we come back in the store and make eye contact with the young woman frequently. almost to hint "where's my food at" telepathically. I'll cut them some slack though, it seemed like they were getting a bunch of orders (even though we ordered first...when they weren't busy at all). we go back to the sitting area and there's a family with a whole feast. I'm like okayyy... that looks good but where's our food? we also walked around the store a few times while waiting, I could honestly redraw the entire blueprint of the store because of how many times we walked around. another 20 minutes go by, and I'm distracting myself by reading every single label of the whole entire shelf of teas that they sell (which is admirable). finally, our food is ready. btw, we ordered two bowls, so I don't know why it took over an hour to make. food was pretty good, they give 20% meat and 80% rice which is kinda annoying, cause you're practically paying for rice at this point. also this wasn't even the food I originally wanted so of course I'm gonna be disappointed when it doesn't reach my expectations. their baked goods is what's gonna keep them in business. they need to hire more people + improve customer service. you wanna value your customer's time and patience if you plan on keeping them as a customer. otherwise, good luck surviving. read more

I have driven by Rumi's Oasis many times, and I never pay attention because they look like home decoration or furniture stores. I decided to check them out today, and I'm a little surprised that Rumi's Oasis combines a middle-eastern grocery store, a bakery, and a coffee shop. They have a nice seating area inside the store next to the entrance. They also have a few more tables to enjoy your food and drinks outside. I prefer the inside seats. They have some beautiful decorations in the indoor seating area. I always thought the food and beverages taste better when I enjoy them in a beautiful place. The workers are amiable! They said it's cuz of the pistachio cream is expensive but it didn't taste like it at all. My family and I recently found this place. We had the chance to try out both their breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Everything we have tried has been really delicious, but our favorite is their breakfast. We really like their leek eggs and tomato eggs. Both dishes come with a side of cheese, butter, jam, cucumbers and bread. It's kind of cool because they rotate the cheeses and jams, so it's exciting to come and see what they will serve when you visit. The service is good, but a tad bit slow. I have a little one so I always have to make sure to have a snack on me since it takes a bit for food to be made freshly. I would definitely also recommend trying their pumpkin Bolani (to die for) and the lamb kabobs. The ambience is nice as it feels like a little coffee shop within a store.
