I've had oodles of lattes and pastries in my time (arguably too many), but Rumors has some of the best of both I've ever had. My mom and I stopped here for a bite on Monday around mid-day. The location is arguably not ideal, depending on your perspective. We were coming from Redding so our trip involved navigating around 84 and then slowly making our way down a busy county highway to make sure we didn't miss it (sometimes I let my Google Maps rest so I can live on the edge a bit). It's a little chaotic but also convenient in that it's a pretty direct route. I also enjoyed the fact that there was an intriguing canine grooming facility right next door though I didn't have the good fortune of encountering any of its customers. Rumors is very cute inside; I feel like every coffeehouse is sort of unique/quirky in the same way, and this was no exception. There was a giant furry spider decoration encircling an entryway to the bathroom, a lending library and - my personal favorite - a TV showing videos of puppies and kittens. The only way to improve it would have been to have actual puppies and kittens roaming around, but I can only imagine the potential health code drama that would ensue. No matter. I ordered their seasonal strawberry rose latte, along with an almond Danish. The latte was perfect - it had the perfect balance of flavor without being too subtle or too overwhelming. The Danish was more than up to the task of matching that performance too. Danishes aren't my go-to pastry; they're often too flaky/crumbly, basically the bakery version of a Nature Valley bar, and like their croissant relatives, often don't have their filling evenly distributed. ...out because everything looked so good - had crepes (turkey/arugula/tomatoes), a yogurt dish of granola and fresh berries, coffee, banana bread, and tea. That doesn't count the "to go" items for the rest our our trip back to DC. Wow....

Super friendly staff and coffee came quickly. It is tiny inside but offers a few outdoor seating. I ordered a signature latte the Vanilla Bean and had it iced. It came to around $6.30. It was very tasty! They use Monin syrups. I was hoping they made their own syrups.

cute little small spot the parking isn't the greatest though with how narrow it is and you have to park by the shoulder business. Good coffee and a nice amount of areas to sit at.

I got " The Steve" raspberry and carmel and added oat milk and cinnamon because the worker had suggested it and my boyfriend got an americano both were delicious! Highly recommend this cute and small coffee shop!

My partner and I googled a coffee shop as we were passing through CT on our way home. I'm glad this is the one that popped up. The inside is small but welcoming with fun mismatched furniture spread out to accommodate individuals and groups. Some of the paintings on the wall have little price tags and are for sale. The one that really caught my eye was already sold but I took a picture of an AT-AT in Van Gogh's Starry Night for my friend who is a big Star Wars fan. My partner and I each ordered a coffee and a pastry to stay and later a coffee each, and a bag of beans to go. I had the Lucky Charms latte and it was delicious. It was perfectly flavored so that it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet or weak in flavor. The pastries were amazing; my partner had a Danish and I had a muffin, warmed up and delectable. My second latte was the Raspberry Almond Crumble latte. This one was also good but I wish I'd had them in reverse order as I'd rather save the best for last. The raspberry crumble was also delicious and again perfectly flavored. The owner was speaking to somebody else in the shop as we waited for our order. If a customer comes up with a delicious latte idea, the shop puts it on the menu under the customer's name and they pointed out The Dario as a customer creation. All and all I wish we lived closer but maybe we can stop in again our next time through the state.

What a unique and decorative little cafe with great personality and a big comfy couch! I love the list of latte flavors they have, plus the variety of pastries available. FYI, their Yelp page shows bagels available, but they don't sell that. I got the pumpkin patch latte, banana foster latte, and blueberry granola bar. Everything was light and delicious. Lattes didn't have very distinct pumpkin or banana flavors, but still enjoyed them because they didn't taste artificial or too sweet. The lattes were perfectly thick and foamy, with excellent caffeine-to-milk ratio. They do have a TV that was loud at first, but they turned it down later on.

If you're looking for a good latte let me recommend the banana foster... it's absolutely delicious. There were only 2 sizes when I went ... small or super large. I would recommend adding a medium so that someone who needs adequate caffeine isn't feeling forced to pay $10 for a latte. (I totally understand the costs of things have increased lately, I am not complaining about the prices, because the latte was GOOD. I just wish I could've payed a little less for less drink since I didn't necessarily need an XL drink!!) Other than that the atmosphere is adorable, the service was friendly & my drink was delicious. I've also tried a piece of vegan bread here before and that was equally yummy. read more

Visiting Danbury for the first time, my girlfriend hyped this place up pretty hard. Rumors definitely lived up to it! I got the "Vanilla Been" with an extra shot. It was fantastic - perfect balance of sweetness and espresso. The atmosphere is very relaxed, unique and makes a great working environment. There is local art throughout and a large selection of pastries. What takes this place over the top though is the staff. Extremely nice, genuine and accommodating. I have a feeling we will be back several times before we go home. read more

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday. This is a quaint cafe with a massive selection of custom latte type drinks. They also have the basic coffees and espresso but the wife and I both ordered fancy lattes. I ordered a string de breve which had nutella (enough said). The wife ordered a classy lady with soymilk. Only complaint was a little sweet on both so maybe ask for less sugar. We also ordered a coffee cake to go with, it seems they only have pastries for breakfast which was a little disappointing as we had wanted to try the crepes. Such a cute cafe, but mostly the coffees, teas etc that they provide are divine! I really like the varieties of milks they offer for your drink. They have wifi and comfortable seating. A coffee oasis in a vast desert of Starbucks and DD. An absolutely wonderful place with extremely friendly service, lots of delicious and unique coffee options (from straight drip to an entire menu of lattes), nice baked goods, and a warm, welcoming interior to relax and enjoy. Cozy little coffeehouse for hanging out with friends or chilling alone in. Owner is super nice and the board games are a nice touch. They rearrange the furniture every so often so it never feels stagnant. The chalk wall is fun too. Great tea selection and hard to choose just one drink menu. read more

Love love love. All their coffee options are legit, and their specialty lattes are super fun. The campfire latte they literally toast a marshmallow for you on the spot. I've come here just to get some quiet time, and also to pick up coffee to go. Their customer service is always prompt and friendly. Given a choice between Rumors and Starbucks, I'll choose Rumors any day. read more

Rumor's has such creative flavor combinations for their coffees, I feel like I've tried so many different pairings and still have a long list of one's to try! The barrister is very helpful and asks important questions/makes great recommendations to make it perfect each time. The place inside very cozy, they just added more seating outside which is a great addition. The only downfall can be parking - there is a restaurant right next door that can be busy at times when visiting Rumors. Though, that shouldn't stop anyone from trying out this cafe! MUST TRY: the nutty professor iced latte :) read more

Nice coffee shop. The espresso was made properly- my cappuccino was really excellent. They have the standard espresso bar options and coffee/teas. Some pastries also available. My friend had a belgian waffle that was tasty. The baristas were super friendly. Hopefully they might offer a few more lunch type foods/bagels etc. They could also use a few additional tables/chairs (smaller) as the space is small and not too many options for sitting. read more

Favorite part is the atmosphere. Around the building is the typical American strip mall. Inside you feel that you could be in a cafe in Europe. The barista we had was a kind and educated man I felt fit the vibes if the place well with confidence and style. Option-wise, to me it is a big thing when a cafe offers organic and local milk. 3 words: vanilla bean latte . Love this coffee and this cozy coffee place! Prices are comparable to Starbucks with a really unique vibe. The baristas were super accommodating and really went out of their way to make recommendations. Ciara and Suyane and they were spot on. Very sweet girls. The snacks like the gluten free cookies and the regular scones looked really good but we didn't get any. They say they are baked fresh daily. read more

Such a cute cafe, found a gem the coffee( I got vanilla bean latte) taste so good, freshly made with cinnamon and honey not too sweet, just perfect! Not a big place so it does not get over crowded by people, which I love! The barista was very kind and personable . Perfect for studying, chatting with friends and have gummy home made bakeries! Best coffeehouse ever! I came across Rumors a few years back when I was living down the street and I honestly drive out of my way to grab my iced coffee almost everyday now. Staff is rude. They make you feel like you need to apologize for asking a question or not knowing what you want. Even without the harsh tones I would still apologize. Also, a regular latte 12oz is 7 dollars and change. Starbucks is cheaper. ...(I assume they charge ALOT because they're the only mom and pop coffee shop on mill plain. but cmon don't take advantage! Coffee next door at the diner taste just as good and 1/ the price. A lot of their pasteries are store bought, which is fine. But don't charge gourmet prices. I will say the decor is cute and cozy. Which is the only reason they got stars. read more

New favorite café??! I've always loved cafés but coming back to a suburb from a city (college), I didn't know much accessible cafés besides starbucks.. but thank god I yelped because this place is /amazing/!!! Their drink selections are so varied and different from other cafés I've been to, and the atmosphere is comforting and cozy. The barista is very kind as well! My friend had the magic bar and Mexican hot chocolate, and I had the coconut chai latte and the pistachio muffin. Everything tasted fantastic! :D Can't wait to visit this place again! read more

Rumors has such a welcoming presence. I credit that to the owner Peter. He seems gifted in what ever he prepares. My favorites are his smoothies and crepes. His staff is wonderful and are always smiling. The fact that you can hang out and play board games is such a unique touch. I've also been to some private events there. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't be disappointed. read more

Such a cute little place that I've probably driven by hundreds of times without noticing it. Shame on me! After enjoying a wonderful dinner down the road, my party and I were looking for a good dessert place, which is increasingly difficult to find. Yelp to the rescue! After seeing the rave reviews of this place, we decided to try it. I am now adding to those rave reviews. Fresh baked goods, specialty coffees, all in an adorable setting with wonderful staff. When I inquired, the manager said I was charged correctly and she's "in the process of updating the menus." Well, okay, but until that happens you should honor what's actually on it. I chose not to escalate since I was there for my husband's birthday. But I found it to be very poor customer service at an otherwise nice independent restaurant that serves the neighborhood. Disappointed for the last time.

Now I'll go to read when I get a chance or just go for a coffee pick me up & chat with Pete the owner. He makes this coffee house feel like a home to the community. By far my favorite spot to stop and grab some delicious coffee . They have the best coffee in all of danbury here. Their menu is very creative and their iced lattes are always good in the summer. I do enjoy coming here and grabbing a muffin with my coffee which I like to change up and try different things. If you are in the area and need a good cup of joe come here.
