Thank goodness I purchased a groupon as the prices are too expensive for what you get. 1st off, it's an extremely limited menu (no more dinner entrees). We ordered the chicken parm sandwiches and they were such a joke! Basically a bolillo roll with a fried chicken breast cutlet with a little marinara sauce and some mozzarella cheese that was thrown into the oven (to be toasted) at 13.75/ea. Shared a double order of fries which were crispy for 7 bucks. Add a couple of "tall" Tito's cocktails and you've got a tab for 64 bucks. On a positive note, our server, Elia, was a doll and asked how our food was, but I couldn't lie about it. She stated that they're basically renovating and rebranding it as a quick "grab n' go" restaurant with the resort lobby now located in the restaurant itself. Definitely won't be back. read more

We did a Sunday brunch and there was only one other table. No waiting. Service was great! Figure, when a place is slow, service often lags. Not here! I also had a Bloody Mary. Wow. Seriously one of the best ones I've ever had, and I've had a lot. It was a no frills drink, made perfectly. Seriously perfect!!! We had pancakes, omelets, and eggs with sausage. Newly opened bar & grill type restaurant in the CCBC resort, Runway is a great addition to this popular hotel. There wasn't any options for food here before so guests would need to eat out or have food delivered. Runway makes it much more convenient if you don't feel like going out. Runway is still in their soft opening phase with their grand opening next week, even though it hasn't been long since they opened, the staff seemed to have things under control and organized. The only real thing I could be critical about was the food coming out was a bit slow but it's understandable. We started with fried pickle chips and cheese quesadilla. The pickle chips came out quickly and was piping hot. The quesadilla took a lot longer but was good, it came with guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. I'm not sure what kind of cheese blend they used but seemed like jack, cheddar, and some boursin herbed cheese spread which made it creamy. For entrees, Mark H and I split the Luggage Bbq Burger and Cajun chicken tenders. Both were good but I think the burger was the better of the two. It's a wagyu patty and came with house made bbq sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, and onion ring inside. The chicken tenders were tasty but pretty heavily breaded, even for a carboholic like me. The rest of the table: A seared ahi, I didn't taste it but it looked good, the two that ordered it liked it. And a house Caesar salad with crispy chicken tenders on top. My friend pretty much lives on chicken caesars and said he liked it so I'm guessing it was pretty good. We were all pretty stuffed so passed on dessert. Runway has a pretty extensive menu so there's something for everyone. In the restaurant's description it says "Dining, Drinks, & Drag". I'm sure once they have the grand opening, it'll be loads of fun. read more

Just left here a minute ago. Walked in. We sat down. As we waited to be acknowledged by the staff we over heard people talking at two tables about how slow it was. The guy behind us said it took his appetizer an hour to arrive at his table. Both tables were new to this place as we were. And both said the same thing ....not coming back. We finally walked out after waiting and not even an acknowledgement from anyone. It's great we have businesses gays can patronage and spend our money at but come on now....this is unacceptable. I absolutely love this restaurant/bar. Not only is it located in my neighborhood, walking distance from my house (SCORE), but the drinks and food are amazing AND affordable. The happy hour menu is seriously the best in the valley. The portions on the happy hour food are perfect for ordering several and sharing. The service is really good, attentive and friendly. I left my cashmere wrap there and it was days before I realized where I had left it. I emailed them to see if they had it, and they did! Seems like a small thing, I know, but it's common for things left behind at a business to disappear, so I was so happy they had it and had put it aside for me. This is a very welcoming and inclusive place and we will continue to support it as our neighborhood bar. read more

We have come here twice, once in 2019 and now, on Memorial Day weekend. We were hoping for a little more energy out of this place, thinking it was going to be busy. Uh, not so much. My first visit here was pretty "unamazing" and I tried to talk my husband into going somewhere else, but we try to spread our gay dollars around town. They need to step it up music wise, it's bland. Speaking of, I ordered the Chicken Grilled sandwich. It comes with what I think was an attempt on bacon. Chewy, rubbery and limp, just what you don't want to experience at a gay resort. The chicken was so dry I literally had to wash it down each bite with water. My advice to the owner who was sitting quietly at the bar on our way out...do an exit interview to see if you can salvage this place...it's missing "IT".... read more

I'm rooting for you guys. This place is potentially amazing. Why isn't there an organized drag race social extravaganza on Thursday nights??!! You're missing a huge opportunity! You can't just play drag race on one tv on volume level 2/10. Everyone working here is super nice and the aesthetic is tits! What a terrific opportunity for a local drag queen to hostess a drag race night! Or at least a fun bartender lol. I'm shocked how much I'm disappointed in leaving work early in LA to drive down for an event at CCBC and to try to get here in time to socialize with the other queers. But when the tv is barely audible everyone just sits around and whispers at each other. You gotta have it loud so all the dramatic batches can talk and sass and laugh together. It builds community! Staying at CCBC, we called in an order for breakfast and the service was attentive and excellent for a to go. VERY generous with lox with bagel, tomato, onion capers and lettuce. Going to a restaurant on the soft opening night (or the next few days) - you have to go in with an expectation there will be bumps and issues. There were. BUT ... our server and the Manager, Jeff, were spot on in working through and resolving issues. They even listened to the "we think we know what we are talking about" customers (us) and actually implemented a couple of our suggestions by the time we went back a couple of nights later!! !!!! G R E A T F O O D !!!! We ordered the Nachos appetizer. LOADED ... we had a couple of suggestions to make it better, and they implemented! It was almost enough to completely fill two of us. My sandwich (I'll have to update my review with the name!) Daddy something - was awesome. I was giving bites to everyone at the table and all agreed. Was a bit surprised. I live up in the cathedral cove and had received a coupon, a two for one, thinking OMG what does this mean being a gay resort? Lol . I am not a bath house kinda person and visited the resort 9 yrs ago and I was not impressed. It was old, run down with dirty kind of old men at the time, so it left a bitter taste in my mouth to return or to even think of eating here once you have those images in your mind but my friends said let's try. I was surprised to see a younger crowd coming from the resort and heard the resort itself had also been redone or new ownership if I hear correctly. The restaurant bar was fun and reminded me of an old building interior with modern flair, very fun. The food was very good for bar food and I would recommend and return. The service however was horrible we felt bad for Ezzy our server, he had the entire floor and bar making drinks and waiting tables. We mentioned it to the manager Kevin and said where are you he needs help! He said he can handle it! He only came out twice the entire evening and not once helped Ezzy the other manager, she did what she could but they stayed in the kitchen most the eve. So service was very very slow but not Ezzy fault, it was managements. read more

I shall say this once and only once. Key lime pie is not supposed to be green. It has me wondering why I paid $10 for a slice of awful frozen Sarah Lee. (Correction- $7 to entertain the response, but missing the point here. Charge me $12, 14 for dessert. The point is key lime pie is not green!) My experience wasn't bad, but I am in the restaurant biz, and green key lime pie is a kiss of death. (Edit: to Eric: I am really offering no complaints here. I am admittedly a bit of a snob when it comes to restaurants and did not go there expecting any culinary apex. But green key lime pie is an industry joke that you should seriously change. It wasn't about the price. In fact, barring other comments I could make such as your staff not grasping the differences in your by the glass wine selections can be totally overlooked and okay here. And my nice little chat with the bartender to make my chocolate martini any way I wanted, I asked if she had specific ingredients that she said she had, and instead of the martini, I received what looked like a chocolate sundae (aka a mudslide). For the record, LOTS of recipes for a chocolate martini out there. My request was basically 100% alcohol and you should consider serving it. It's equal parts chocolate and vanilla vodka and light creme de cacao. Serve in a martini glass with a hard chocolate rim). But honestly, none of this goes against you here, not even the key lime pie. Fact of the matter is for someone spending the day at ccbc, it's a nice place to retreat without having to leave the resort and get a real, actual meal. But, the concern for the green pie is an industry joke. It is a sign that there is no real chef in the kitchen, because the chef would never serve such a thing. Key lime juice is yellow. And, while a "true" key lime pie is still a very subjective thing (should it be sweeter than tart? Can you make a different crust than graham cracker? Should the custard rely on its own or should it have a layer of merengue or creme?), the common bare-acceptance of a key lime pie is that it be yellow. A green key lime pie is a dead giveaway to a diner that quality doesn't matter. A green key lime pie does not use key limes. Just limes and food coloring. When you've had real key lime pie, a green key lime pie might just as well come served to you in a cellophane wrapper. Thanks for your response though, and as quick as it was, too. Fair point that your key lime pie is $7 and not the $10 I stated, but if I could offer the most modest critiques: The wine by the glass list is actually quite nice considering. But staff doesn't seem to have any knowledge of what they are serving. Just a little education here is needed. Whoever made the menu did it right, imparting a little knowledge here will save on waste. Don't allow your servers to tell guests the ahi is fresh when it is not. Ahi is light pink when frozen, almost beet red when fresh. It's all good. I'm totally okay with frozen ahi, and the prices dictate it is probably frozen. But the difference is absolutely clear and anyone who knows about food will peg you for this. And finally, I got the sense that the bartender was kind of flying by the seat of her pants here and maybe doesn't have a ton of bar experience. But with the clientele that frequents this place, just as any brunch place will be known for their Bloody Mary, they would ALL appreciate a classic and trademark presentation of a chocolate martini, espresso martini, etc. (my recipe was not traditional, it was the alcoholic's version that came from the Ritz restaurant in Newport Beach. Gave it to you above. Try it and thank me later!) Overall, I think you have a nice little eatery that has a few advantages for improvement to give you the edge you need. My comments are meant to be constructive and while my original post is kind of an insider joke in a way meant to be snarky, it was also meant to be constructive. Change that pie! read more

I find it incredibly rare that a five star restaurant experience is created on 1 dynamite element alone. Most often it is a combination of food, ambiance, management, etc... Server/bartender Ili (iliana) is the reason I will come back to Runway. Not only did she make a point to acknowledge me as a returning guest from months ago, she's doing probably 5 jobs with more ease than if 5 people were actually assigned to those 5 tasks. She's making drinks, taking orders, bussing tables, expediting and running food with an electric personality, grace and professionalism. She is Runway. Runway is her runway. I've worked in the service industry most of my adult life and it's so seldom you come across a server who truly gets it. She gets it. read more
