    Pliny fries and burger
    Nina C.

I came here after stopping at Armstrong Redwoods to enjoy a nice glass of beer and some food but unfortunately my expectations were not met. The beer, as always, was great. However I ordered their Pliny fries which had a pool of oil the bottom of the bowl. I wasn't a fan of the flavor combo and the pickled jalapeños lacked flavor. I feel like pepperoncinis would have been a better fit for this dish. My friend got the burger and fries and said the burger was good and flavorful but that the fries were also very oily and lacked flavor. I appreciated that they saw us at the indoor bar with our pup. I'll definitely come back for the beer and try and give some of their other dishes a go.

So once a year for two weeks,Russian River Brewing becomes the beer mecca on the planet-for two weeks they release their triple IPA Pliny The Younger. People come from from all over the planet to fly in for a chance to be able to taste this amazing brew each year and this year,I decided to join them and go out to try and get my hands on Pliny The Younger. The release this year was from March 20th 2026 to April 2nd 2026. So 1st thing we had to do was decide which location we wanted to go to-They have a downtown Santa Rosa location and a much bigger location located in Windsor. I decided to go to Windsor because I was told the parking lot was much bigger and the dining area has a larger capacity-not sure if that's true but was good enough for me. We left Sacramento a bit after 6am and we arrived in Windsor around 830am. When we arrived, there was already a line of probably around 75-100 people. So we just grabbed our spot in line and we waited until they opened up the dining area at 11am-Hoping to get seated in the first wave. We were told before we went out there that if we were lucky the wait would be from 2-3 hours and if we were unlucky it could be up to 6 hours. Well I can really explain it but the somehow the time flew by-not sure if it was the people we were in line with, who were all in the best of moods or if it was just the anticipation of doing something really fun. They were true pros the way they had the line setup-totally organized and they even have heat-lamps out there to keep everyone warm, while we waited. Well today was our lucky day because my buddy and I got seated in the first wave. The dining area was really big with so many table options, multiple rooms for seating available and they even had a bar area and an area where you could sit around a fireplace-like area. The wait staff was really awesome at this restaurant-each person working was even nicer than the next. How it works during Younger release event is like this. -They give you a wristband with 3 numbered pull tabs on it that allows each customer to get 3 pours and then at the end of their meal we are allowed to buy 3 bottles of the highly coveted release Pliny The Younger. The price point for these beers were $6.75 for each pour and around $13.00 for each take home bottle. While I was there I also had a taste of Blind Pig and Tempo Change-those were like $1.25 each for a tasting of those two beers. One thing I didn't quite have a scope of before going to this event in person was the high quality of food offered at Russian River Brewing. I made a double mistake of eating while I was in line and also making plans to eat at another place after this event. So I missed out on really diving into their pretty impressive offerings of food.I will for sure be doing that on my next visit-they had darn near everything you would expect a brewery to offer and it all looked so delicious. Well let's talk about why I was here-Pliny The Younger. I am 100% an IPA fan-it's always my beer of choice-So Pliny the Younger being a Triple IPA-I knew I was going to enjoy it.This beer historically is rated near 100 every year and this years release didn't disappoint. It was the smoothest triple I've ever had the pleasure of drinking and I've had more than a few in my day. This was the best Triple IPA I've ever had. Final thought-Was the experience worth it and would I do it again? Yes & Yes-my only regret is that I didn't do this many years ago when I first heard about it.I do plan on making this an annual pilgrimage.

This is the local brewery and restaurant near my dad's house and is always a go to spot for friends and family in town. They have the best selection of beers on tap, from local to Belgian styles, there's something for everyone. The service is fast and friendly with a lot of personality in each server. The food is usually great with typical American style choices, like burgers, wraps, fries, and great appetizers. This time I got the pulled pork sandwich with some barbecue sauce and my brothers got the kale salad with bacon. Both were very good. So many great beers, but if I had to choose one, it would be mind circus, hazy IPA. They have a normal dining area with table tops or booth seating, as well as a dog-friendly dining area near the bar that's also indoors. Outside, they allow drinks, but no food. Also a great place to bring your dog if you have one. Don't forget to check out the merch store before you leave for some clothes and beer for the road.

This is a flight of all beers on tap!

Great service and good food. It's a fun atmosphere to go eat. It's a brewery and is a bit louder than normal especially on a weekend evening. I did the flightbeith both sides of the board.... it was great to try all of what they had on draft! They were also running a chicken sandwich on special, it was delicious and paired well with a lot of the beers. On this trip we ate there twice!

I've been to both the Santa Rosa location and this one, and the size of this campus is impressive. They have a large restaurant, bar, gift shop, and a spacious outdoor area that is great for families, kids, and dogs. The only downside was the service on the patio; the staff pouring beers out there weren't particularly friendly. That aside, the space is well-designed and the beer is good, making it a good spot to hang out with a group.

How fun! Love their Happy Hops beer and was going through the area, so I had to stop! The flight was impressive and a lot of fun to go through. Probably could have split it, but wasn't feeling it that day. The sliders were perfectly cooked and didn't taste dried out at all. The server in the bar area was friendly but when it gets busy with after work people and he's pouring drinks for all the tables. The place in total is laid back and family friendly with lots of seating and a good selection of food offerings. I would stop in again when I drive through!

Came here with my family around lunch time. Was lucky to arrive a little early and was able to get a booth. The server and host were both friendly. The food was really good. I also ordered the Velvet Glow which I really liked. Ended up buying a case of it from the gift shop later. The location was also really nice. Will be back.

Third year in a row for the release of The Younger. Love coming to the Windsor location since it's larger and more new. Service is great, everyone is nice and food is good. Avocado chicken sandwich was on point, however, Pliny fries, just the French fries themselves were over cooked, so they were more on the hard side. I've had them in the past and when done right.. 4/5! As for The Younger, no words can describe how delicious and refreshing it is.

Wow the Russian River Brewery is impressive. They do offer tours but we came for dinner so we did not do the tour. Check their website for times. A popular restaurant with plenty of beer selections to choose from. We tried a few samples. The restaurant was a good sized restaurant with ample seating in the bar, dining area, and covered outside dining area. Two separate multi-user men and women's restrooms. Our server was friendly and attentive. The kitchen staff was overwhelmed and the food took a while to come out to our table (approximately 20-25 minutes). FOOD: My wife and friend shared... House Salad: mixed greens, fromage blanc, cucumbers, tomatoes, Croutons, honey balsamic vinaigrette (4/5). A tasty salad and the fromage blanc was delicious and added a sweet creaminess. Fish Tacos (3): baja-style tacos, Perdition beer-battered rock cod, pico de gallo, salsa verde, cornflakes, corn tortillas (4/5). Crunchy batter with a flakey fish. Russian River Burger: 7oz J Brand beef, malted bacon, white cheddar fondue, arugula, on a sesame seed bun (4/5). Our friend said, "A very good burger!" BBQ Burger: 7oz J Brand beef, Happy Hops Habanero BBQ Sauce malted bacon, jack cheese, crispy onions, arugula, on a sesame seed bun (4/5). I liked my burger as the habanero added a nice kick. Our friend enjoyed his Pliny the Elder (Double IPA). Come support your local business!

Haven't been back in awhile, and saw that they changed their back outdoor space, yup, that's how long I haven't been here! We stopped drinking beers and got more into wine. But needed some mouth cleansing and we came back. The back outdoor space doesn't have a big grassy field anymore. It's replaced by sculptures and a bark, and a DG path. They also added some shade covers. It was raining so we didn't drink outside. We got some lunch. It's your basic burgers and sandwiches lunch place. I got a salad and added chicken. Just a basic Caesar salad, it was light and healthy. We got chicken wings (naked) with sauce on the side to start. That was good. If you get them naked and just dip, it's good! My husband got their turkey bacon sandwich and it was very good. Their Pliny is always the best. Bought a whole case for the road and some gear for the little one.

This is a huge property that makes their own beer and has some great bar food options. We landed at 7:30 pm and anyone who knows this area, it shuts down tight as a drum after 9 pm. We grabbed a seat and were told we had about 15 minutes before kitchen closed. We decided to all get beers and we ordered some wings. Friends ordered a wrap and fries. Food was very good and fresh and I love both of the different IPAs I ordered. Our bartender/server was just great...as nobody was really there, but he did not rush us or give us the heave ho as they were getting ready to close. Great place...we came back the next day and had a few beers before dinner, just to get the ambience and great service in. I will come back here a lot when in the area!

Drove out of our way to check out Russian River Brewing. So naturally we had to try everything! It was a great experience, but make sure to bring a friend and don't drink it all alone. They have a self guided tour which was very cool! And the whole facility was big and beautiful! Unfortunately, we didn't try the food- but it smelt amazing!

The ambiance is casual, and the service was great to throw some tables together for our large group without advance notice. Our server was Heather, and she took great care of us the whole meal, which lasted almost three hours! Never a rush for a birthday party. For food, we always have our favorites here: the wedge salads (whole and half!) and, for appetizers, the Frickles, Kin wings, and calamari. We also had some other great dishes, such as the YBC burger (Certified Angus Beef patty, sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, on a toasted brioche bun), the Dip (Thin sliced, slow-roasted top round, melted Grand Cru Gruyere cheese, smoked horseradish cream, toasted hoagie, garlic au jus), and a Michelangelo (two 4oz burger patties, American cheese, house aioli, house-made pickles, lemon pepper bacon and onion jam, crispy potato strings, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted brioche bun) - truly a masterpiece! I also grabbed two pizzas to take home: the Mac Daddy and the Smokehouse. Their mac n' cheese as an entree is great too, but not this visit! We tried some adult beverages as well, and the margaritas this visit were a disappointment - very bitter. The Mai Tais were amazing, by comparison, and soon several of us found a new beverage to enjoy. All the food was great, and the Frickles were well-fried and hot, but not greasy at all. The wedge salads are substantial, so a half for us is usually enough as an entree when taken with all the appetizers. And again, Heather was a great server for our needy group! Thank you! Looking forward to the next road trip to Windsor.

The original brew master became the co-owner when the winery left the beer business in 2003. It was then moved this location in 2004, opening as a brewpub. It's been on my list of places to visit for a while, so my wife, her mom, and I took the opportunity to stop in for a Thursday night dinner on our way to San Francisco from Fort Bragg. The inaugural double IPA (aka Imperial IPA) was made by the current co-owner at a different brewery in 1994. Double means it uses double the hops and malts, and the ABV is quite a bit higher. He then created Pliny the Elder (ABV 8.0%) in 2000, recognized as the most famous DIPA. The track continued, with Pliny the Younger in 2005, a triple IPA (using triple the hops and malts with ABV of 10.25%). This version is available once a year in the spring, since it costs so much money and time to make. With so much malt being used, a large amount of time (and hops) is needed to balance. I've had Pliny the Elder in bottles before, and really liked it: I don't like the hoppy 'piney' taste in my beers, but also recognize that not enough will make the beer too sweet (which I've been facing with a lot my island beers lately). Parking is street only, but there was a lot of it, with the metered parking only requiring payment till 6 pm. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and immediately seated at a table near the bar. As expected, it was quite loud, with after work folks having a good time. We got menus, ordered our food, and then decided what to do about flights. The brewery is also known for their Belgian style and thus offers two different flights. It was my first time, and didn't know how much my wife could help, so decided to order the California Sampler (a selection of 12 different West Coast 5 oz. pours of ales and lagers for $15.45) to start: O.V.L. Stout (Old Vic Loyals) - Irish nitro stout - really beginning to love stouts, and this one was good. Velvet Glow - lager - solid. Ending up buying 6 pack to bring home ($12.99) STS Pils - pilsner. Bought a 6-pack for $12.99. Russian River Porter - Blind Pig IPA - West Coast IPA Happy Hops - Juicy IPA Mosaic Stack - West Coast IPA SimCoe 25 - West Coast IPA Citra Flash Mob - West Coast IPA Mind Circus - Hazy IPA DDH Pliny the Elder - really good. bought two cans at $5.99 each. Pliny the Elder - the original Felt pretty good, so decided to order the Belgian Sampler (9 different for $13.63), Surprisingly, I didn't like it nearly as much (my favorite fruit beer during this trip was the Howzit Punch beer). Petite Robert - table beer Little White Lie - Belgian White Robert - saison Perdition - biere de sonoma Damnation - golden strong ale Mortification - quad Supplication - sour brown ale Intinction - barrel aged pilsner Consecration - sour dark ale In terms of the food, it was solid. The 8 pc chicken wings ($17) were good, and the cheesy garlic bread ($10) was filling. I had the meatball sandwich ($16) and upgraded the fries to a spinach salad (+$4): it was tasty, loved the toasted French bread and marinara sauce, with the meatballs being OK (tasted from frozen)...loved the spinach salad with strawberries and blue cheese. We finished off our meal with a Vinnies (co-owner) sundae: good vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a lot of almond slivers. Payment was at the table, and me being again very pleasantly surprised at how little the flights were (a typical brewpub where they charge $3-$4 per 5 oz, would have cost 4 times as much...though of course I wouldn't have drunk as much either).
