Stopped by Rustic Root for brunch with my friend. I tried their espresso and my friend ordered a pink drink both were good, balanced, and well-crafted. The espresso drink was a perfect way to open my eyes I was sleepy and it totally woke me up. The ricotta toast and the egg sandwich with side of home fries were good and filling. I really liked the home fries but the egg sandwich was really just eggs on a bun but I expected an actual sandwich. Service was good as our host was attentive, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable. The restaurant itself is pretty inside without being overly fussy. One of the best perks was plenty of parking, which you know I love it as I don't like the hassle of finding a spot. I want to try their dinner menu will be back for more next time.

I was pleasantly surprised with Rustic Root and how fresh the food is. It is very clean and the service is amazing. I loved the artichoke dish so much. The montauk tuna was seriously fresh and delicious. The Mediterranean salad was out of this world. It's conveniently located in Woodbury and the prices are great. Would totally recommend it!

Wanted to try this place for a while now but always find myself going to the grocery store next to it. Brunch was really good! The menu is American but fusion with cool elements from other cuisines and with good ingredients and definitely vegetarian and vegan friendly. Got a grass fed beef burger, it was juicy and cooked nicely medium. The fries were hot and crispy. We got two apps: a Korean chicken wings with some creamy cilantro sauce, and a pumpkin rice ball with some chipotle mayo. Both sauces were amazing and went well with the burger as well. I would suggest them serve that with the burger. Portions were sizable and prices reasonable. Will be back to try other items!

We were in the neighborhood and this came up on Yelp as a sponsored result. It had great reviews so we thought we would try it. This restaurant is located in the corner of a strip mall. The inside is a decent size and has rustic charm. There are also tables outside if you would prefer. We were seated upon arrival and were given water right away. A server came over within minutes to take our drink order and gave us a few more minutes to look over the menu. She was very attentive. Our food came out promptly and was delicious. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant

The ambiance of farm to table and the decor were amazing. Even more so was the food. Great seasonal choices and the flavor profile was amazing especially for the French onion soup. Soooo good! Great place for date nights.

Arrived on a Saturday 12pm and was surprised with how empty the restaurant was because of all of their great reviews. Staff was all very pleasant from hostess to our waitress. The food was good but not great. Nothing to return to. The toast with whipped cheese was very good and we got biscuit and gravy. The gravy wasn't hot it was barely warm, not as flavorful as I'd like. Biscuits were quite good. Overall a decent meal but nothing I'll drive over there for

I really wanted to love Rustic Root -- but overall, it missed the mark for me. I was visiting my sister and brother-in-law on Long Island, and we landed on Rustic Root based on his recommendation. It's tucked into a strip mall (parking was easy, which is always a plus), and the interior is actually quite charming. I especially loved the rolling pin dividers -- such a fun design touch. That said, the vibe felt a little off. The lighting was a bit too bright for a dinner setting, and since it wasn't very busy, the space lacked energy. Service was friendly and cordial, but definitely inconsistent. There were long stretches where we felt forgotten -- not a huge issue when you're catching up with family, but still something you notice. Now for the food, which was the biggest letdown of the evening. We started with the Crispy Artichokes -- lemon & Calabrian chili aioli -- and these were easily the highlight of the meal. The breading was light and crisp, and the aioli had just the right kick. I'd absolutely order those again. We also shared the Cornbread with maple syrup and Amagansett sea salt. I've spent a fair amount of time in the South, so I've become a bit of a cornbread snob. This version leaned dry and cakey, and I didn't get much maple flavor from the butter. Just okay. My sister went with the Crispy Organic Chicken Milanese with burrata, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and aged balsamic. It looked good on paper but was underwhelming in execution. The chicken was a little dry, and while her expectations were shaped by another local favorite where she regularly orders this dish, she gave it a fair shot -- and still wasn't a fan. Now, my entree -- the Roasted Local Cauliflower -- was a real miss. I genuinely love vegetables and am a big fan of well-executed vegetarian and vegan dishes, so I had high hopes. The dish came with mushrooms, farro, and a maple sherry reduction. The farro and mushrooms had solid flavor (though I'd have loved a better mix of mushrooms). But the cauliflower itself was a letdown. It arrived as one large chunk -- maybe even a full head -- and didn't seem truly roasted. The interior was wet and soft, while the exterior had minimal browning, except for a burned patch. It honestly felt like it had been boiled and then tossed in the oven for a quick char. I would have preferred it cut into smaller florets for a proper roast -- or even better, served as a cauliflower steak for more even cooking and better texture. On the bright side, my cocktail -- the Lust for Life (tequila, mezcal, passionfruit, lime, and a Tajín rim) -- was another standout. Balanced, refreshing, and creative. I enjoyed it, though not quite enough to order a second round or return just for the drinks. All in all, Rustic Root has style and potential, but the food and service didn't quite come together. I really hoped this would be a hit -- but for me, it fell short.

This restaurant is great! My husband and I did date night here tonight and we were really happy with our experience. The service was kind and attentive. The ambiance is really nice, recommend getting a booth if you can. My November pineapple tequila cocktail was great and my husband really enjoyed his old fashioned. The filet was cooked perfectly medium and the sauce really flavorful and tasty. The mashed potatoes weren't as garlicky as we were hoping they would be but still really good. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The branzino Calabrian chile sauce was awesome! The branzino was perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The scalloped potatoes and zucchini were also particularly good. The apple bread pudding was really flavorful particularly with the butterscotch in the cream and the portion large. Great time! Definitely plan on going back again to try different things (though what we had was great!)

The drinks were amazing also. We started with the bread at the table and a delicious fresh butter; it hit the spot perfectly and was warm and with great crust. We decided to order from the price fixe menu since it was restaurant week. We both started with the New England Clam Chowder and it was perfectly seasoned and had a nice amount of clams, potato and croutons for texture. Wonderfully flavorful and it was good portion. Next we decided on the main courses, wifey chose the chicken scallopini with linguine; I chose the rigatoni bolognese - mostly because that was her second choice. We absolutely loved the food, portions were huge and flavors were absolutely top notch. We managed to get so full from off the entrees that we managed to have some leftovers for our kids to enjoy back at home. Of course we had to leave some room for desert. I didn't take a picture of it but we loved the carrot cake. If you're ever in the area, or can make it with reservations it is absolutely worth every effort to make it to this restaurant. Food was amazing, service was spectacular and the ambiance is chic and pleasant.

The lasagna was solid (about a 3.0)--flavorful enough, but it just sat unevenly in the dish with no real visual appeal. The special osso buco came with a sauce that leaned too sweet; the risotto underneath was tasty, but the dish as a whole didn't quite impress. On the brighter side, the special soft-shell crabs were excellent--served in a Française-style sauce that hit the mark both in flavor and presentation. The fried calamari was fresh and tasty, elevated by the smart addition of fried artichoke hearts. During the winter months I'd do takeout and every time the food was great at home. I love their soba noodles salad when it's in season, however they switched to a different noodle and it doesn't have the same oomph! The owner recognizes me from all the times I've been there for dining in, takeout, called, and parties and events. I went there again last night with some family and overall it was very nice. One star deduction for the rudeness we received from the manager. She came over after we ordered a second bottle of the Freemark Abbey (wine) (as they were completely out and the first bottle we ordered was their last bottle in stock) and gave us two "similar" options that were around the same price of the first bottle. Price doesn't equal to taste. We first asked if it's okay to try it even if we may not like it, and she kindly proceeded to open the bottle. We said "no thanks," to the Keever (it tasted disgusting in comparison), which she and her colleague highly suggested, and we asked nicely if the other bottle was an option to try, but she swiftly walked back inside with both bottles and brought out an open bottle of the Katherine Cab. We liked that better. She stormed away after she said something fast and nasty like "It's either the bottle or you have to pay per glass." We didn't quite catch it but the ultimatum put a bad taste in everyone's mouths. We wound up ordering the Katherine Cab. When we got the bill the server charged us fairly. We tipped well because it's not the server's fault she was upset about opening the wine that she pushed. Happy eats!

First off, the inside is beautiful. They did an incredible job with the renovation, and I loved all the little details, especially the custom 300-pound manhole covers they're using as tables around the bar. Even better, everyone working there was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Now the food! We started with the Baked Clams, and these were legit. You could've served them to me at an Italian restaurant and I wouldn't have questioned it. The Nonna's Ribs were probably one of the biggest surprises--slow-braised pork ribs with cherry peppers and finished on the grill. Fall-off-the-bone tender, tons of flavor, and I loved that they weren't just drenched in BBQ sauce. The Firebird crispy chicken sandwich was fantastic, and the Steakhouse Sandwich with sliced NY strip, mushrooms, provolone, crispy onions and horseradish aioli was also very well done. But that Manhole Burger deserves some special attention. Beef, American cheese, caramelized onions and dijonnaise on brioche. Simple combination, executed REALLY well. This was an outstanding burger and absolutely something I'd order again. And I can't leave out the fries. They're hand-cut in house, super thin and crispy, and exactly how I like my fries. Think that addictive thin fast-food style, except made fresh and much better quality. If you remember this location from its previous ownership, give it another shot. This owner deserves the business because he knows how to run a business. Money follows the people not the other way around.
