Stopped in for lunch after checking YELP rating, which was 4.5. Admittedly, hesitated when arrived as the name fit the exterior, but trusted fellow Yelpers and went inside. The restaurant was clean and the staff pleasant. There is a low key and relaxed ambiance with a distressed motif of fixtures. Ordered the Pork and Mojo Chicken Taco special which was outstanding. Wow! As a Southern-born BBQ lover, I'm at a loss at how Rusty Can has been a mere 20 miles away for the last six years. And, am I ever glad that this oversight has been corrected! I had the two-meat plate with sliced brisket and pork ribs. Both were good -and- the ribs were shut up out of this world crazy good. Tender - cooked at the exact right temperature so that they held on the bone but weren't chewy like pork ribs can get. For sides, I went with the collards and mac & cheese. Again, both were good, but the collards... nice and vinegary with chunks of pork. Amazing. All washed down with a can of the house lager. Lets start with disclosing I am not a huge BarBQue fan, but my boyfriend is. The food is very good. He loves the BBQ. We had a pate appetizer that was out of this world! Served either grilled bread and onion. Absolutely amazing! Great burger, chicken sandwich and steak and cheese melt. Desserts are superb! The best choc chip bread pudding and pecan pie! Heard a lot about Rusty Can, was able to come here for lunch a few days ago and I really enjoyed it! I had the pulled pork plate which is usually my go to any BBQ place I go to. The meat was soft and tasty, the BBQ sauce that was at our table was a great topper, I wish it had more TANG but still did the job. I pulled up and was nervous because it doesn't look like a restaurant. When I walked in I felt like I was at the club from the movie Road House. Then the waitress came over and she couldn't be more friendly. She recommended the brisket and thank God she did. It was the best brisket I have had and that includes places in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Kansas City. Went back again and they had a steak tip special. It was even better than brisket. I recommended it to my family and they drove there from Easton, Boston, and Saugus. The funny thing is they all like something different so I can only believe that everything is awesome. Not a fan of the seating, was seated at a big table with another group which was fine until the hostess squeezed someone between us. Waitress took our drink order then disappeared for a while. I think she forgot about us and only came back when she saw a regular customer was seated next to us. Felt like we were bothering her. Buffalo wings - tasted like bbq wings with zero buffalo sauce flavor. Wings were also very soft and rubbery. Chopped brisket sandwich - wet but tasted dry. Ribs - ordered 5 bones and 3 of them were mostly fat. Sliced brisket - slightly better than the chopped. Sides - not sure why they bother. Mac and cheese had no flavor despite seeing pepper. This restaurant is amazing. From the staff to the food to the drinks...just outstanding! Sometimes I just go and eat the French fries they are so good. The brisket, either chopped, sliced, or on a bun, is incredible. You can tell it was slow smoked for many hours! The cornbread with honey butter could be a meal. Burgers are solid. Chicken is good. Pulled pork is crazy good with their homemade sauce. The brownies are huge and delicious! The atmosphere is always buzzing and everyone is friendly. I absolutely love this place. The bbq is some of the best in the area. Waitresses I've had are always nice and the decor is described by the name. It's not some place you dress up and drink with your pinky out. This is one of my favorite places to go to for bbq. The store next to it is a nice spot to go into while you wait for your table. I would overall give this place 3.5 stars. The greens were good but not great. The Mac n cheese was not very cheesy. They definitely I would add fried okra would be a great addition and add authenticity took their time with the ribs and brisket. The ribs had a good flavor, I prefer dry rub Memphis style but it was decent. Great smoke rings on both. The only critique I have is the skin on the ribs was a little spongy. The smoked buffalo wings were delicious. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding with my main course; I ordered the fried buffalo chicken sandwich but received the fried chicken sandwich. I can't say enough negative things about the fried chicken sandwich, it was really disgusting. The chicken was pink on the inside, which I'm praying was because it was smoked before being fried. There was a half-melted slice of some kind of cheese that resembled a white Kraft single on top. The sandwich was loaded with almost a dozen pickle chips--not the worst pickles I have ever had, but also not good. And then there was what seemed like a pint of what the server said was "spicy mayo" on both the top and the bottom buns. The sauce looked and tasted like tzatziki sauce. I'm thankful I couldn't stomach more than a few bites of the sandwich. The smoked buffalo wings were so good, though, that I could have given 5 stars if the sandwich wasn't so bad. read more

Phenomenal - will be returning! We started with the hush puppies which were delicious - the sauce was different some sort of dill pickle/corn tartar but I liked it. For my meal I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich and made it a three way. The brisket melted in your mouth. Perfectly tender. Fries were delicious too when they were fresh from the kitchen. What a great meal! Left extremely full and it was worth every penny! My friends are still talking about the meal days later and we're planning our next trip. Everything we ordered was off of the specials menu (besides sides) and we weren't disappointed. Started with the Wicked Hot Wings and they were up there with the best wings I'd ever had. Great flavor with a good amount of heat that creeps up on you. For entrees, we got the Brisket Bomb, Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the Cuban Sandwich + a bunch of sides. This place has the best BBQ in northern Massachusetts. The meat is cooked in an industrial sized smoker in the back of the restaurant and is cooked to absolute perfection. The pulled pork is my favorite, along with corn bread and Mac n cheese as a side. The service is fantastic and the bartenders are so friendly! Brisket has a great bark, super juicy & amazing fat content throughout Smoked pork belly, Brisket bomb (pictured), Pulled pork, doesn't matter what's on their menu, you're getting insanely high quality BBQ. Even the sides are PERFECT. I don't know how they do it but I don't care. This is the closest I've gotten to some of the best Texas BBQ I've had. MUST try. Have read all the great press in the regional free magazines and found ourselves nearby on a Saturday night. Lots of people eating inside, outside, and ordering takeout. Hostess told us 45 minute wait and within 5 minutes we had great bar seats. Ordered smoked ribs and pulled pork sandwich. People come here for the food not the ambiance. It's rough inside. Only One space heater in the restaurant that I could see. It's in the corner and it's very loud. If you happen to sit by it in a booth be prepared to have the noise be the main thing you'll hear. The interior is kind of like a dive bar in a basement setting. The waitress we had was ok but nothing memorable about her. The food was ok. The cheese hamburger came out cooked one way, burnt. We didn't get to choose how we wanted it cooked. The brisket was tender but lacked flavor. The pork ribs were tender and seasoned more than the brisket. The sides of Mac and cheese, corn bread, and bbq beans were underwhelming. The white bread was a thin slice of white bread. I haven't had a piece of white bread since my pb&j days as a child. The fries were shoestring, pre frozen, and not great. We brought two kids which was a mistake as they don't cater to kids. There are no kids meals here. The bathroom soap dispensers were terrible to use. They are an awkward design. I got soap all over my jacket sleeve and my daughter get soap right in the eye when my wife brought her to use the bathroom. I thought the soap would come out where I pushed the lever but it dispenses waaay below where I expected it to come out. Hence getting it all over my jacket sleeve and in my daughters eye. Overall impression is that I don't recommend this bbq restaurant for families and I wouldn't return for date night. I saw on FB that Monday's special was poutine and I was intrigued. I just had a not so great poutine experience with another local place (tried to claim poutine without cheese curds and with ranch instead of gravy was poutine, um no) so I was a little wary but I know Rusty Can is always super high quality and their description didn't include anything strange so we decided to order for dinner. I like that you can call and talk to a person and it's not online ordering. Something more personal about it and you can ask questions which comes in handy! I wish they had mashed potatoes as a side because I find that always goes nicely with barbecued foods but they do have a really great list of sides available and that's my only gripe which is very minor. We ordered the poutine, a side of collard greens and a fried chicken sandwich from the daily specials board. They said 15 minutes, we took slightly longer and everything was ready when we arrived. I appreciated they took Covid-19 precautions and was impressed that everything is done outside the restaurant and fairly quickly. I think it took less than three minutes for me to pay and be on my way with our food. The poutine was amazing. Perfectly done fries with the gravy and bits of bacon on top. The star were the cheese curds. Fried and lovely. The portion was huge. No lie, the best poutine I've had outside of Montreal ever. The collard greens - wow, just wow. I've never liked collard greens before and this was intended for my partner but whatever magic they used in these has me hooked. Loved the pieces of brisket. So good! While I managed to snag some of the collard greens, I didn't manage any of the chicken sandwich special. I think that was snarfed down with lots of moans of joy in under five minutes. It looked and smelled amazing and I haven't seen my partner wolf down a sandwich that fast in forever so safe to say that was a real winner. I think the poutine might be on the specials board all week as I see it's up there today. If we weren't about to get another half foot of snow we'd be heading back there today for more of it.
