My extended family went for my father's 91st birthday. Over our time there our table ate 91 wings. We currently hold the record of the most wings eaten by one table. The waitress were great. They were friendly and treated all of us very well. All the food was hot(temperature). They had several levels of spicy sauces as well as mild and no spice sauces. It's been a while since I visited this restaurant but I recently visited their sister restaurant, The Mill on round lake. My next stop will be their other restaurant, Bentleys. Rusty nail is famous for burgers and wings. Their accomplishments include   #1 spot for best wings in the 2018 and 2019 Times Union Best of the Capital Region poll. Their chicken wings were named the best in the Capital District in the Capital Region Living 2019 Bestie Awards. The tavern came in second in the best dining category and second in the best bar category when the 2019 Best of Clifton Park poll results were announced. Saratoga.com named the 2019 Saratoga Fab Five winners and The Rusty Nail's chicken wings came in at #1. We ordered 2 items on the special menu and both were good, with a soft bread/bun, tender meat, ample sides that melted in your mouth. This is not an ordinary place. All I can say is PIGGY TOTS. This was my first time here and was recommended in this area and said to try the tots. The place was well managed was very busy. Staff was very friendly. These were some of the best tater tots I've ever had. If you order the large be ready to share or get it as your meal. The tater tots are a mountain of tots with an overflow of pulled pork. The pulled pork is so tender and succulent, and sauced to perfection. They put so much pork on these things I could have made a pulled pork sandwich and still had pork on the tots. If you are in Albany and need a great place to eat with great staff give it a try. We joined the waitlist and it stated a 30-40 minute wait. Got to the restaurant with 15-20 minutes left stating in the yelp app that there was three groups in front of us. My husband, 3 year old and I decided to go in when it stated we where next. The hostess asked for our name and she stated it will be about 30-45 minutes. I was very confused because I pulled up the waitlist showing her and she informed me you have to still come in when you arrive to inform us and then wait. My husband and I looked at her puzzled and told her that made no sense. The other couple waiting overheard the conversation and laughed stating that makes no sense. What is the point of a digital Que if you have to still check in with the hostess to start the clock? I was staying in a local hotel after traveling from Utah, and saw many good reviews of this place, so I decided to order DoorDash from it. I ordered a bacon cheddar burger with fries, and then wanted to try the Tavern fries as well. The bacon cheddar burger was amazing. I was really impressed that you could actually request how cooked you wanted the meat, so I went for medium rare. It came exactly as I requested, and tasted amazing on a lightly toasted bun. For that taste alone, I'll probably be back later in the week. It was so good, I even forgot to take a good picture! The fries that came with the burger were also very good, and the ranch had a little something extra to it that was great. The only reason why this didn't get a five-star review, was because the tavern fries left something to be desired. As I saw in the picture, I was expecting to have fries that were drizzled with cheese sauce, then cheddar melted over top of them. What I got was one layer of fries that had over cooked hard cheese on them, and then another layer fries with nothing on them -- not exactly what I was expecting for an $8 half order of fries. These might be a lot better in person, when they don't have to sit in a delivery box for a while, but for me, they had something left to be desired. Given that they left a card in the box offering up to $1500 in gift cards to someone who refers a line cook that stays for 90 days, I think they did a great job overall. I understand that it is tough to find good help in the food industry these days. I just wish I was able to experience those epic looking tavern fries the right way. read more
