TEXICAN tacos. most traditional and best filling.
    Cindy G.

I'm submitting another positive review because of the TEXICAN taco. The corse ground beef is actually far superior to their steak or brisket tacos and should the centerpiece of their menu; hopefully as a burrito too. And evan offered as a deep fried corn shell taco which is more traditional. Also, the black bean side dish is a trendy poor item that is everywhere nowadays. Stick with whole pinto beans in a fatty, tasty sauce. No refried beans ever.

So I popped into Rusty Taco - 9290 E Via de Ventura on a Thursday afternoon expecting a quick, no-drama taco situation... and immediately tested their breakfast cutoff like I was on a game show. They serve breakfast until 2:00pm and I walked in at 2:15pm with full confidence (and zero awareness). The woman behind the counter was so kind and still made me a bacon, egg & cheese breakfast taco on a flour tortilla. Not many people were inside, but the staff was genuinely friendly, gave good recommendations, and everything felt easy and welcoming. Tortillas deserve their own moment here: the flour tortillas were super soft and cooked perfectly, to the point where I was honestly wondering if they were making them right there in the back, yes it was that good! I also tried the cauliflower taco (flour tortilla) and it was a pleasant surprise... well-seasoned, good portion, grilled onions mixed in, and the cauliflower had a legit char that actually tastes like flavor (not "oops we forgot it on the grill"). On the breakfast taco, the bacon was crispy, the eggs were fluffy, and the cheese was semi-melted. If I'm being picky, I would've loved just a little more salt/pepper on the eggs--but I get why they keep it lighter, and it's an easy fix with salsa. The place was clean (including the bathrooms), they've got self-serve fountain drinks, and even though I didn't order a drink, they still gave me a free water cup which is a small thing but always appreciated. There's also a decent bar with a few beers on tap and cocktails, plus plenty of seating inside, at the bar, and outside. Patio is dog-friendly too--another couple was out there with their pup living their best life. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the menu. This feels like an easy spot to catch a baseball game or hang with friends before a spring training outing. Quick service, chill vibe, and a solid "glad I found this" kind of place.

I don't know what the hype is with this place. Should be called crusty taco instead of Rusty Taco. Took 35 minutes to get tacos, sadly each taco had two little pieces of meat. For 6$ a taco I would hope for a little something more than two pieces of meat. Manager was taking pictures of the food going out, how bout you post these pictures on your socials. Only good experience was the cook who apologized. Never thought you could mess up a taco but here we are.

Chicken fajita taco and fish taco

We stopped in here tonight on our way to the Enchant Christmas event. I ordered the chicken fajita taco (yum) and the fish taco (very greasy). Hubs has the steak bowl and he said it was a very generous protein portion and he loved the spice level, but his was a bit greasy too. Service was exceptionally friendly, the restaurant was clean. Next time, I'd probably order the grilled shrimp to try to find something a little less greasy.

We came here at the height of lunch time on Sunday and it was not busy at all. This is a fast casual restaurant but the young lady that was taking the orders at the bar (that's where they asked people to place their orders the day we went) was very attentive the entire time we were here. She brought out our food, checked in on us during our meal and bussed the tables when people left. We ordered chips and queso, and two tacos each. The chips were unexpectedly really good. They were thin and salted perfect! The queso was delicious! A tad spicy for my liking but it would not stop me from ordering it again. We each got a fried chicken taco with bacon, pico and queso on it. This was really amazing! My son was skeptical but ended up being very pleased. The chicken was very crispy. The bacon was a nice flavor component and as well. My second taco was a crispy shrimp taco (which can be grilled shrimp if you prefer) with cabbage and a baja sauce which was sweet but super delicious! My daughter got a fried fish taco that also had cabbage and baja sauce on it. Both were really good and flavorful! We both said next time we order the fried chicken taco we are going to order it with no queso add baja sauce. Food was 5/5. Cleanliness 5/5. Customer service 5/5. Value 4/5 (the tacos are small but filling), I spent around $39 altogether which seems to be typical for fast casual these days for 3 people. Overall was a great meal and experience. Only thing we missed is the variety of salsa's and sauces we had seen in previous pictures.

Visiting my hometown for the first time in 15 years, and I have to say is I wish I had these tacos for breakfast, lunch AND dinner! The service was fast, friendly and pleasant. I tried 4 different tacos and all were 10/10! Cherry on the top was the habanero sauce. Very spicy! :)

I stopped in for tacos and margarita. Great service by bartender! (Molly) I had a prickley pear frozen margarita that was excellent, and ordered two tacos: brisket and dynamite shrimp. The shrimp was my favorite! Good music playing while watching baseball too. Clean spot but not real "cozy", just standard metal tables and chairs. Patio outside is nice when weather is cooler.

Came back again, being I was in the area and loved it just as much as my very first visit. This time, I had an order of two Green Street Tacos and an order of chips and Queso. Soooooooo delicious!!! I HIGHLY recommend these tacos, especially if you enjoy guacamole and green chili. Great combination! I love their medium salsa the best as far as salsas go. Just perfect and mild for me. The Queso was very good. Perfect blend for your chips and snacking pleasure. They have Coke products for soda choices. They do have alcohol as well and your place your food and drink order at the bar. Ambiance is good here. The service this visit was awesome as usual!

The food was legit...prices were not bad at all The two tacos I had were huge!!! The took care of my hunger in a big way. The chips and cheese dip regular order was huge... More than enough to share. And yummy. The lunch before baseball was a success..thank you for having us Respectfully, Bryan Oklahoma City

Lunch came with a six piece sauce pack, so you can customize the tacos to your liking. I'd been thinking of Mexican food and these tacos were good! I had a long drive back to the hotel, or would have indulged in one of those icy cold and delicious looking drinks, like the Diego Margarita or Fuego Fresa. I saw only one server, he was waiting about 3-4 tables and seemed to be responsible for the to go orders, as well. He did not welcome me or my friend with me, so we took a seat until he was able to help us. After sitting for about 5 or so minutes, he hastily set two glasses of water down in front of us without making eye contact or saying anything to us. I said hello and asked if we could put a to go order in. He very obviously rolled his eyes at this request, and quickly removed the waters from the table and walked to the ordering POS. He did not say literally any words. Just gestured for us to stand and meet him at the kiosk. We get up and follow him, and I begin by asking for a chicken quesadilla. I did not realize this was something not on the menu, but it doesn't seem like a hard thing to make at a Mexican restaurant ??? He replies rudely, "That isn't even something we have on our menu. Do you even know what you want to order?" I was not understanding why he was acting with disrespect, as neither my friend nor I had treated him with any behavior similar to his. He quickly says "I am going to give you guys 10 minutes to figure your order out and get it together." He leaves. We sit down, and I texted my friend what she wanted instead of a chicken quesadilla. He returns a bit later and we try again. She asked for a bean and rice burrito, so that's what I ask for. He slams his hands on the counter, and huffs and puffs about this order, too. He goes "WE DON'T HAVE THAT EITHER!" At this point, I am really upset with how I have been treated. There was not one point where he was patient, kind, or respectful in any category. This is 100% not how you treat patrons. I ask, "Is us being here too much for you? Is our order too difficult? We can leave, if that is the case." He says it is. We leave. I have worked in food since I was 15 years old. I understand the stress and urgency that comes with a restaurant. At no point have I ever made someone feel badly for ordering. That is what your job requires. If taking an order for a bean and rice burrito is so overwhelming, I would heavily consider a different career path. Disrespectful and incredibly unprofessional. 0/5 stars if possible :(

We ordered the carne asada tacos, carne asada quesadilla, al pastor tacos, and tripa tacos so we could sample a little bit of everything. The al pastor had a beautiful balance of smoky, seasoned, and slightly sweet flavors, while the tripa brought a deeper richness and satisfying texture to the lineup. The carne asada quesadilla was another standout--crispy around the edges, melty and cheesy inside, with generous pieces of seasoned carne asada throughout. The salsa bar was definitely a bonus. Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.
