After driving 12 hours from Denver my boyfriend and I were tired and hungry and just wanted to relax. It was 7:30 and we came to realize that restaurants closed early in Utah. He mentioned ribs and immediately I said, "YES!!". He read me some of their menu descriptions and I was sold! This was the place I needed to eat at. When we arrived we were greeted promptly and felt very welcomed. Our server Holly made our entire experience. She was engaging and sincere and was so excited to take care of us. Husband ordered full rack of ribs & his ribs was marginal. Ribs wasn't smoked but he was ok with it. I really wanted to seafood pasta which was posted on their site. Was told it was no longer available. Ordered shrimp scampi with linguine as substitute. Shrimps were slightly overdone. Pasta was severely over cooked & soggy while sitting in a pool of butter. Ran across this gem while staying at an RV park up the road. OMG was the food excellent. Everyone was nice and made sure our meal was how we wanted it. I ordered the ribs, which fell off the bone. My boyfriend ordered the filet that was cooked perfect! A salad came with the dinners along with warm, fresh bread. I took home a big portion because they gave so much food. I got a tumbleweed (bloomin onion) appetizer and a filet mignon and BOY was it delicious! Amazing to taste and also SO much food! Made for 2 meals for me! Not only does this place have absolutely delicious food, but their service is incredible! We had Noelle as our server and she was so sweet. I also had a more unique experience there, because I ate there on July 4th, and left my purse. I didn't realize it until the restaurant was closed. I was leaving town the next day, and the restaurant was closed all day on the 5th. I sent them a Facebook message, and they got back to me and had me call their sister location down the road, that was open. I talked to Daniel, and he was so kind to drive down and open the doors so I could get my purse back before leaving town, even though they were supposed to be closed all day. As I approached the ranch house, tightly nested at the base of a red rock wall so pristine that its' picture could adorn a county courthouse in a mid-major city, I must me honest, I had butterfly's. I had heard about Rusty's but had never had the courage to actually dine there. Mostly because it was my understanding that Rusty's served intoxicating alcohols, which long ago, had been forbidden by the Lord. Not eager to get cross-wize with the all-mighty, I steered clear...until tonight. Upon entering, it was hard not to notice the many animals who had their a$$'s filled with lead and their heads looped off and nailed to the walls. The way I see it, if the animals weren't smart enough to outwit a hillbilly with a gun, let 'em die!! Lololol. Anyhoo, a delightful waitress named Denille seated us and warmly welcomed us. We knew straightaway, we were home. Whether it's the tongue scalding wings or the twice-filled potatoes boats, everything we ordered was creative, pleasantly plated and delicious to the taste. Initially it can be unassuming in approach, but as you enter. The smell of the food & the prompt service prepares your palette for a dining experience that Mom would be proud of. The management is both courteous & gracious, the waitresses are patient & very helpful & kind. Then........ THE FOOD!!!! it felt like home bbq. The salad was delicious, the entree (Brisket) didn't need a knife. & my Lord....the linguini in scampi butter, awesome!!! This is perfect for pit stops on your way to your destination, also for family gatherings. My wife celebrated her birthday & the staff were so accommodating & helpful. Came here when visiting from out of town and I felt right at home. Service was great our waiter (forgot her name) was great, so nice and didn't rush us. I had a ceasar salad with my meal and it was great, a little sharp which I love. The dressing I was told was made in house. I had the brisket for my meal and it was one of the best brisket I have had. Relatively lean and just so moist and fell apart with no need for a knife. Overall I am glad I came here and would come back next time I am coming through Cedar City. read more

First let me say thanks to all the Yelpers who posted on this location before me. We would never have found this gem without the Yelp reviews and my GPS. Yelp location is off a bit. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. We were there on a Wed night in March so it wasn't real busy. Quantity and quality of the food for the price was excellent. Steak and Ribs for the Lady, the Ribs were actually much better than the ones we had a few days earlier at the famous Pat's in Salt lake City. My Ribeye was well trimmed, cooked perfectly. The starter salad was huge and very fresh. They served a loaf of bread with it, tried one piece, it too was very good. The steak came with Broccoli, cauliflower and carrots along with some fried mushrooms. Veg were done perfect, still nice and Al Dente, great flavour. Both entrees were $23 each, large glass of wine $3.50 and Bud beer was $2,75 a bottle. The two of us had more than either could eat and a drink for under $60. Yes the food a Sizzler is cheaper, but the alcohol is a lot more, you get far less food and the quality and atmoshere isn't anywhere close to as good. There aren't many choices in Cedar City and so, when my friends decided they were in the mood for steak, we decided to try this place out. We all ordered the same thing - the steak and ribs combo for $20.50. The combo came with salad, bread, and side of vegetables. For the other side, you get to choose from three types of potatoes - baked potato, baked sweet potato, and french fries. You have two choices of ribs - BBQ or honey BBQ. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and ordered the honey BBQ. The steak that comes with the combo is a 7 oz petite filet. I ordered it medium rare and that's the way it came out, something that often doesn't happen (at least for me). There were four ribs that came in the combo and they were tasty. The portions were large enough for me, though for the larger eaters, it may not be. The bread wasn't anything to brag about. It was regular sourdough bread and was not hot or warm in the basket. The service was decent - waitress was friendly and even offered to give us separate checks if we wanted. The decor of the place is filled with stuffed animal heads everywhere - mostly deer. There were some caribou and a mountain goat. If those scare you, you probably don't want to dine here. read more

We ate dinner here last month after a long day of traveling. We absolutely loved this restaurant. The prime rib was excellent and abundant. It was prom night the night we ate dinner here and it was nice to see all the young men and women having a good time. Our waitress was excellent and really friendly. The salad bar was great. They also served warm homemade rolls that were outstanding! It was obvious that this restaurant is a favorite of the locals but the atmosphere and friendliness welcomed weary travelers like ourselves. read more

i was in utah visiting bryce and zion national park and we were craving some meat. yelp lead us to Rusty's, which we never would have found driving randomly around cedar city. heh. when we arrived there was only one other party there and i believe only one other one showed up while we were eating. our party of six was seated right in the middle of the restaurant. i felt like we were becoming the center of attention, which is quite difficult with all the animal heads decorating the restaurants. i was starving, so it didn't bother me much. i ordered the honey bbq baby back ribs. we also split the wings. the wings were not very impressive and i wouldn't order the again. the baby back ribs were yummy. they weren't fall off the bone tender, but the flavor was pretty awesome and the sides that came with it were huuuge! i couldn't finish all my food, but i wished my stomach could fit it all. heh. i thought the food was 3.5 stars, but our waitress was very attentive and nice, so 4 stars for Rusty's. i'm not sure when i'll be back in utah, but i would recommend the ribs to other people visiting. =] read more

This restaurant was a great find for us while on vacation. First, loved the "Ranch House" feel with rustic tables and cabin like decor (very homey). I had the steak and coconut shrimp and it did not disappoint!!! The steak melted in my mouth and the coconut shrimp was some of the best I have had. My wife had the Salmon, the seasoning was superb and it was cooked perfectly!!! And lastly the service was excellent!!! This restaurant steak house was, bear with me, THE BEST EVER! The employees were so nice and very welcoming. The reason I rated this 5 stars is because of the food! The steak and the rest were absolutely baked with passion and love. Once you take a bite from the juicy steak, you never want to stop eating. Although for the blooming onion, I would add a little more salt... but overall this was a great experience for me. This place is located a short drive up a canyon outside Cedar City. The inside reminds me of a hunting lodge with animal heads displayed on some of the walls and wood paneling everywhere. The ambience is casual. I ordered the petite filet with a baked potato and veggies. It came with a salad which was just an ordinary green salad. There were a few leaves of lettuce that were wilted and kind of slimy looking so I stopped eating that. My steak however was wonderful! Cooked to perfection! The baked potato was good too and the veggies were cooked in a bit too much oil but tasted really good. The place is a bit pricey but the steak was so good that it was worth it! read more

Rusty's is a great little stop in cedar canyon. It's not far from the rest of Cedar City, but offers surprisingly good food In a rustic atmosphere. I had the ribs which were tender and delicious. More surprisingly the house salad and mixed veggie side were fantastic. Warm loaf of bread on the table when we sat down. Stop in for some hearty food if you're coming out of the national forest. read more

Like some of the other posters here, we went to Rusty's on a week night and when we pulled up we were wondering if it was even open. It's a big restaurant, but almost empty on the night we went. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, like she had anything else to do, but she did get a little busier as the night went on. My wife had ribs which were very meaty and not smothered in BBQ sauce and I had salmon alfredo which was filled with large pieces of salmon a a massive amount of noodles. Had we not been traveling we both could have taken enough home for another meal. Rusty's is nestled among the hills and I told the waitress I would have posted a yelp review on the spot if I could get a cell phone signal. She agreed that was a problem. Don't let the out of the way location and the lack of cars keep you away from here. You'll miss a great meal if you do. read more

Decent sit-down restaurant, but pretty far off the interstate and not easy to find. Good steak and yummy sides. The waitress was excellent, and that's a rarity these days. The decor was cute and quaint, with stuffed wild game hanging everywhere. This reminded me of a place I'd take my dad. I'm not sure if it's because I'm from CA where there's really good food or if the food just wasn't good. But many people rave about this place so maybe it's because I've been spoiled with good food. I got the Filet & Coconut shrimp with sweet potato and vegetables. The filet was undercooked (medium requested) and sent back. It was served very basic with seasoning and grill marks. It needed extra seasoning and would have been amazing if it were seared. The shrimp were over done and served with cocktail sauce (should have a sweeter dipping sauce since the coconut covering is sweet). The sweet potato was blah. The best part was the vegetables. For a $30 meal (yes $30 in CEDAR!!) I would expect it to be amazing. Or at least the atmosphere to be updated. I'd save your money and go to Chili's. read more

We have eaten at Rusty's before, but it has been many years ago -- we travel from California up to Salt Lake regularly. This time we were disappointed. My husband ordered the brisket with fries as a side. He said the brisket was excellent, but when he requested ketchup for the fries, the waitress didn't get it there until the meal was almost finished. My steak was good, however, there were so few veggies that I had to hunt for them on the plate. The other couple sharing dinner with us said their food was OK, but when he asked for a refill for his soda, he was through with his meal before he got the refill. The restaurant was not busy, but the service was terrible. Next time, we will go to the other stake house a little further up the road. Sorry it was not the same as we remembered. read more

During a recent visit to Cedar City, friends and I tried several restaurants, and this was the favorite. Everything was fresh, and the food plentiful. My friend and I shared a petite filet and coconut shrimp, both of which were delicious. We had the chocolate mousse pie for dessert. The only drawback was the canned whipped cream it was served with. This was the first time eating here. The staff was nice and friendly and this was coming in a hour before closing. The food was delicious and large portions. Went there last night after trying Milts first. Started out with a great salad and loaf of sourdough bread. The filet was large and cooked as ordered. Cedar City is a relatively small community of 30k people. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are not a lot of places to choose from. We moved here in 2007 from St George which has much more variety in places to eat (albeit relatively small if you live in a typical US metropolitan area.) When my wife and I were looking for a place to go for Valentines Day, we decided to try Rusty's as we had heard good local reviews. When we entered, my wife commented that the atmosphere wasn't terribly "romantic" with the "dead animals" on the wall. There are various taxidermy-mounted game on the walls. The restaurant is kind of lodge style in decor. As such, It is somewhat large and open, but the window tables with views of Cedar Canyon actually are quite nice (especially just before sundown.) The food presentation is certainly not fancy. You will not get exotic recipes that you'd find in a gourmet restaurant. However, we were surprised at how good the food was. It is very fresh and cooked to perfection. Nothing extravagant, but delicious. I had filet mignon which was the best cut of meat that I've had in some time. Great quality food, but you pay the price for it. I believe my dish was $22 as compared to $12-$15 that I would have paid at a chain like Applebees. As far as I was concerned, it is worth the extra cost. I can't quite remember what my wife ordered (some kind of seafood.) But she agreed with my assessment of fresh, quality food that just tastes good. read more

Went here after a long day of snowboarding, The filet minion was decent, It was a little undercooked for my taste but was a pretty good stake, I ordered it with french fries but was skeptical because i just had the exact same french fries for lunch at the snowboarding resort so obviously they were not fresh, But they were good none the less, The steak also came with a salad that was pretty good, Everything looked fresh on the salad except the tomato. The place was empty, But we did arrive at about 8:45 PM on a Wednesday so I wasn't surprised, The service was great and the waitress was very nice.
