Got the strawberry chicken salad, and it was like the salad of my dreams. It was a bit pricey, but you definicely get your fill's worth plus more. Fruit was fresh and chicken was seasoned well, and the vinaigrette dressing complemented it perfectly. Great dish to get when you're hungry but want something you feel good about eating.

Rutas has been a Fullerton staple for probably 40 years! Their food is spectacular. Everything is fresh. Everything is healthy and they have a very large diverse menu and something for everyone, oh and did I say delicious something for everyone? I'm one of those people that usually gets the same thing and mine is the garlic chicken salad and the cocky leaky soup. The service is friendly and warm and the place is adorable and so inviting.

I love the eclectic vibe of Rutabegorz, as well as their extensive menu featuring vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. These options are labeled on their website menu, but were missing on the in-house restaurant menus. Luckily I had decided what I wanted earlier when looking at their website, so I knew what would be gluten free or not. You can seat yourself and a server will come to you. Service was pretty quick and friendly throughout our visit. We started with the chips and salsa. The chips were thick with a good crunch. I ordered the Italiano salad, which came loaded with veggies and garlic chicken and dijon vinaigrette. The salad was huge, and they provided ample cheese and olives. The artichoke hearts and the olives threw me off as neither had much flavor, and the dressing was very mild for a dijon vinaigrette. I enjoyed the size of the salad, but the combination of the ingredients didn't mix well somehow. My husband had the Walnut that Kissed the Chicken sandwich, a chicken salad sandwich on Indian Grain bread. It came with a cup of macaroni salad and a slice of cantaloupe. He enjoyed his sandwich. I plan to return and try something else on the menu, like the chicken tortilla soup.

Definitely returning, the food was delicious and we received complimentary chips and artichoke dip. Our server Liz was great service was fast and quick and with 70 theme ambience . Coffee pots all around the walls. Pretty interesting to see all Tha classic pots. Try to see if you can find the tin man.

My only previous visit was 1984 and I remember what I ate! That Rutabegorz is still here is a testament to a business model founded on QUALITY. In the restaurant biz, the food is more often than not a secondary (or beyond) consideration; I need to try more menu items before gushing any further - however, everything I've tried here is delicious, conscientiously prepared and presented, including my dining companion's leftovers which I took home... Anyway, the dining area is a bit of a throwback to different time, more wholesome & pleasant. Above all else, the table service was impeccable - servers were good-natured, neither harried nor resentful. A thoroughly tranquil dining experience, WITHOUT the relentless pounding of a Super Bowl show...

Charming ambience, friendly service, reliable menu, cheap appetizer dip. Cockie Leekie Soup is a dairy free dream in a bowl. I usually eat some and buy another quart to take home.

I appreciate the vegetarian options, but the delivery just isn't there. At least make the food taste good, please. I was incredibly disappointed after my visit here. My husband was equally confused by all of the raving reviews. How does this place have so many good reviews? I just don't get it. The food was so bland. Sure, there was lots of veggies. The veggies were fresh. I'll give them that. The dishes just didn't come together well. My salad was very lackluster. The dressing had no flavor. It was like eating veggies with water on them lol I couldn't take it. The salad was unappetizing. I ordered hummus with pita bread. The pita bread was wheat. It was gross. The hummus itself was decent though. I ordered the macaroni and cheese with no bacon. It just wasn't good. The sauce was a runny cheese with some grated cheese sprinkled on top. The cheese on top wasn't melted. I didn't care for the flavor with the sun dried tomatoes. Just not my cup of tea. I basically didn't like anything here. Service was fine. Except for the fact that the waitress saw that I didn't eat any of my food, and she didn't even think to ask if everything was okay. That was odd to me. Ambiance was not crowded, but it wasn't dead. There were a lot of older folks there dining.

Came here for quick before the museum opened. Place has an eclectic vibe, booths tables and patio seating. Overall very nice decor and friendly staff. It's a big menu, lots of salads, wraps and sandwiches. According to server, they are know for the enchiladas. Opted for sandwiches, pretty good club sandwich, really big. Overall a nice cafe and will visit again when in the area.

Came for a work lunch on a Tuesday for the first time and was surprised by how big the place was and found a table right away! Serving sizes are large so definitely shareable and great for eating family style. Everything we got was good and tasted freshly made; especially the huge salad. Service was good, wait staff were attentive and nice. The carrot cake was good and a must try. I definitely would come back with the family.

Rutabegorz ticks all the boxes! Fresh, delicious, healthy, terrific ambience, and impeccable service. Our server accommodated my friend's requests with such grace (she's extremely particular)! I was initially overwhelmed with so many options, but I decided to go with the garlic chicken sandwich. The portion was HUGE and so tasty! Caveat: when they say garlic, they MEAN garlic - and a TON of it! I had garlic emissions for a couple of days. There is ample indoor seating in addition to a lovely covered patio out back.

The Fullerton Rutas has been a staple for my sister and I for close to six years, we come in at least twice a month and absolutely love it. The vibes are artsy, chill, and very laid back, and while we have our regular spots there are no bad seats. Staff are always friendly here, and even though it's seat yourself and menus are on the table for you to take your time with, they're always checking in and willing to answer questions. Elizabeth has been our server on multiple occasions and is always attentive and quick to help or communicate, and always says hi even if she isn't the one working with us directly. Dinner rush is usually a bit earlier in the evening as they do see a lot of older clientele, but it typically varies based on weekday vs weekend and if there's a local event happening in downtown Fullerton. The patio is large with plentiful seating, a warm fireplace, dogs are allowed, and if there's live music happening at the museum down the street you can usually hear it. Our favorites are the nachos, killer chili, Leeky soup, and any of their salads. Price is a good value, especially considering the portion size, we can usually get at least two meals out of an entree. We love trying the new dollar dip flavor every month. Cookies are made in-house and very good, an easy and affordable treat to grab on the way out. We've brought vegan and vegetarian friends here and they can always find something to eat. Highly recommend as a place to come to when you want to sit and hang out for a bit to relax and have a good meal, whether alone or with a group.

I felt like I had walked into someone's home when I visited Rutabegorz yesterday!! It was so warm, cozy, and very comfortable. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor space for eating and different sized groups. The menu was so extensive that it took us a while to decide what to order. Our Italiano and Mediterranean Salads were delicious and plentiful. The Turkey wraps were bursting at the seams and loaded with deliciousness. We can't wait to go back there and try some of their smoothies, bagels, and other munchies on the menu. Thank you Rutabegorz for your friendly service and your appetizing menu items.

Rutabegorz has two locations: Orange and Fullerton. Never been to one till today. The ambiance here in the Fullerton location is big, quaint interiors and friendly service. They have outside seating so they most likely get very busy during the night and weekends. We ordered their nachos and dip of the day. Their dip tasted great with a hint of tamarind- love it. I also ordered their Strawberry beer ale and latte. Had a great time dining here.

There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant which is often full. We usually park in the free multi-story parking garage just east of Harbor and Wilshire. It is a short one block walk to High Horse from there. As the name suggests, the décor is very western themed with lots of wood, cowboy hats and boots, wagon wheels, lassos, saddles, taxidermy, etc. Seating options include booths, high top tables, and at the bar. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm with food and drink specials. We started out with the pickle fries ($12) which were excellent. The pickle slice thickness to batter ratio was perfect, and they were served with a side of ranch. My first cocktail was The Smoking Gun (bacon washed Elijah Craig bourbon, maple syrup, angostura bitters, orange bitters, $18). It is smoked tableside and was a healthy pour. The bacon and maple flavor was very light, but it was very smooth. Her first cocktail was What Would Dolly Do? (Hornitos plata tequila, Los Sundays jalapeno tequila, Del Maguey peubla mezcal, simple syrup, lime, pineapple, grapefruit, $16). It was balanced with good jalapeno flavor and pineapple below with a light smokiness. For my entrée, I had the half slab of baby back rips ribs ($28) with coleslaw and fries. The plate arrived steaming hot and I was impressed with the portion of ribs. There were seven meaty ribs that were very flavorful and the BBQ sauce was good. The fries were crisp and seasoned, and the coleslaw was good too. She had the Up The Creek spice rubbed cedar-plank salmon ($26) with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The portion of salmon was good and it was flavorful. The asparagus was cooked well, but they were over salted. She also enjoyed the potatoes. My second cocktail was the Skinny Dipper (Tito's vodka, St. Germain, aloe vera water, watermelon, lime, $15). This drink was light and refreshing, with floral notes, and watermelon and lime standing out. It also had a great looking color. Her second cocktail was Ladies Love Outlaws (rose petal infused Ketel One vodka, St. Germain, simple syrup, grapefruit, lemon, rose wine, $16). This was also light with floral notes, and had good grapefruit flavor. It was very lively at 6:30pm on a Thursday evening. We left a little after 8pm, and the place was packed as they have line dancing. There was a big crowd of at least twenty people dancing in front of the restaurant and having a great time. The service was good, and our server was very friendly. The food and drinks were great, and I think they were a pretty good value for the price.

I had tried taking a photo booth picture with my friend and on our last photo a drunk man had fallen onto us ruining the photo completely by it picturing only a black curtain. I appreciated a security guard calling a manager over immediately, but we were not assisted properly. The manager had came over to us in a defensive manner. He approached us by asking what's going on. We explained the situation and were told he cannot do anything for us. I was wanting any form of compensation for wasting my money on a photo booth in their bar. He continued to tell us that he doesn't own this photo booth machine, so he can't do anything for us. Yet, he can have his bouncers allow a man, who is clearly blacked out, into their bar. Then proceed to let that man roam around the bar as if he didn't just fall onto us. I brought up this point to the manger and he told me I was disrespecting him. We did not receive any form compensation nor an apology. I don't care what type of setting we were in, a manager needs to have some sort of customer service skills. Very clear management did not care about our safety.

We ordered appetizers, meals, drinks, and dessert, so we were looking forward to a nice experience. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Everything looked good when it arrived, but the flavor just wasn't there. I ordered the honey chicken brie sandwich, and there was very little, if any, brie flavor. The bread was okay, but the sandwich had minimal greens and tomatoes and felt more like something you would get at a fast-food drive-through than a meal at a restaurant. The ice cream sundae was also terrible. Honestly, it was exactly what you would get from McDonald's. No fresh fruit, several peanuts and drizzle chocolate syrup with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For a restaurant serving a full meal, we expected much better quality and flavor. To make matters worse, while eating the fries, we discovered a huge, long hair embedded in the stack. We called the restaurant, and they immediately replaced them without any issue, which we appreciated. And our waitress was attentive. However, the service overall was very slow. It took quite a while to get our drinks and then our food. After we finished dessert, we sat for approximately 15 minutes talking with our family. At that point, a man approached our table. I initially thought he was coming to apologize or check on us regarding the hair, but instead, he told us they had a large party coming and wanted us to leave. That was extremely disappointing. We had already spent a considerable amount of time and money there, and we were not lingering excessively. A simple check-in about our experience or even an apology for the hair would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt rushed out the door. The food was underwhelming, the service was slow, and the way we were asked to leave left a terrible impression. Unfortunately, this is not a restaurant I would recommend based on our experience.
