While I typically come here I've never had a issue in the past with service here but today was different, our server came to our table only twice, to take our order and to give us our food, never did we get a refill nor asked us if everything was ok. My wife and I came here for lunch today, MLK Day. It was very busy and we had to wait. I tried to put my name in but the cashier said, "First come, first serve". I was a little confused because others were waiting and I wanted to know my place in line. Anyway, when my wife came in we figured out that you just seat yourself when a table opens. We didn't have to wait long. We each had the half sandwich and soup combo. My wife had the walnut salad and chicken tortilla soup and I had Ruta's Killer Chili and the turkey sandwich. Both come with macaroni salad and some fresh fruit. We both liked our choices, me a little more than my wife. Our young male server was pleasant and efficient, though it took a little while for him to get to our table. We have actually been here many times over the years, including our first date. Great memories! To my elated surprise, my favorite Fullerton restaurant was still around and I just had to visit, if only to taste once again my ultimate favorite soup, Cocky Leeky. Fast service. The workers are super nice and chill. They have a wide range of food, from sandwiches to pastas and even lasagnas. The sandwiches are so fresh and feel good on a hot day in the summer, or spring. There's one that has fresh green apple slices and jalapeño peppers. I would definitely recommend that one. It was President's Day and husband was off from work so we spent our afternoon in Downtown Fullerton. We worked up an appetite after hanging at the bookstore down the street. So we made our way to Rutabegorz. Heard of this place a while ago and finally got to try it. The menu is pretty extensive and covered a good amount of dishes from soups and salads to wraps and sandwiches to Mexican and Italian favorites. I was getting overwhelmed. But husband got me to settle with: The Dave Beard - it's your classic club sandwich with toasted garlic bread and chunks of jalapenos. Turkey, ham, swiss, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado and bacon. Very fresh ingredients. I think I would have liked the jalapenos sliced thinly and distributed more evenly in the sandwich. It was still good though! Came with pasta salad and cantaloupe. Nice and balanced. It's hard to mess a club! Husband chose the falafel wrap - Falafel patties with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, and a creamy herb dressing. Hummus on the side. I was not too crazy with this wrap at all. The falafel was too mushy and just too wet. It also has such a strong smell to it, as I know about Greek food, but this smell went beyond my scent threshold. Ugh. Our drinks were good and healthy: Hale the kale for the husband - lemon and apple juice, kale, spinach, cucumber, and pineapple. Veg-out for me - carrot, celery, spinach, and tomatoes, all freshly squeezed together. It would have tasted even lovelier if a tad of ice was added. Friends and I meet here once a month. The food is varied and good. The service is great even when it is busy. Although a little noisy you can find seating outside or at certain tables where you can hear your friends. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good, healthy food. The menu is very thick, with many options...except no beef, so don't go here if you're looking for a burger. Everything on the menu seems to have health and quality in mind. My friend and I were in search for healthier options for dinner and decided to eat at Rutabegorz. Their menu is endless and has so many options for everyone. Our favorite was the bbq fiesta wrap as it is packed with flavor! If you order the sandwich, we highly recommend asking for a side of Southwestern Blue Cheese dressing. The portion size got us shooked as they were massive for the price. Service was great and they still had my go to items on the menu and we also order a couple of things we'd never had before. All were delicious, especially the shrimp Alfredo, it was amazing. The food here is great. Ambiance is nice. However, the service here is really terrible. On multiple occasions I have sat and received no service, waiting for as long as 20 minutes to receive any help. Today in particular, a table that sat well after I arrived, was served immediately, as my table was ignored. Not sure why they took priority, but considering there were many empty tables in the patio area should have prompted service for both parties. My advice is to go to the orange location.
