Portion size is good. The wait staff is nice and attentive which is good when coming in from the highway. Bathroom is clean. Nice little place to have a sit down meal when you been on the road and can't take one more fast food drive tru. Think of a mom and pop ihop don't expect gourmet food. read more

This was a joy to stop at an old diner like this as I drove route 66. This was halloween day and it was not busy. The waiter was very attentive and the food was good enough. I had coffee, water, a patty melt with fries. I would have preferred something beside those fries. The ambience was old which I liked. There was a couple who I believe were connected to this restaurant sitting two booths behind me. They had two children with them and one of them howled a lot. It took away from my dining experice. Poor service today, which was busy. Waiter pretty much blew us off. Waited over 40 minutes for food , made him aware, his response was ...well now you have it! Food was just OK. Had a tasteless steak. Won't come back . Traveling and will hotel not to recommend. read more

Was in town working late so I decided to have dinner here before driving the 2 hours back home to Vegas. I wanted some kind of steak dinner so a search on yelp turned up with Dambar and Steakhouse which had a 3 star rating. The other was this place with a 4 star rating. Im not a picky person and dont always rely on yelp ratings because until you check the place out on your own is when you can truly cast your own opinion on a place. So Dambar was the just down the street. Wait time for a table was about 30 mins. I was thinking it must be a good place since it was packed. Wanted to see if the 3 star rating was accurate but was really hungry so I went down literally about 50 yards down the street to Rutherford's. With a 4 star rating it should be good right? I came in and was seated right away. The place was busy but there was still enough tables to go around. Looked over the menu and decided to get the 10 oz ribeye ($15.99) medium rare and added sauteed mushrooms onions. Comes with dinner salad and your choice of mashed potatoes, baked potato, steak fries, or veggies. I chose mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked more medium well than medium rare which made it more chewy. Since it took about 20 minutes to get my food and had a long drive home, I really didnt want to wait another 20 for them to get it right. Plus when you are really hungry you just wanna eat. Im glad I had the mushrooms and onions added to it for they did not put any spices on the steak. I had to douse it with a lot of Heinz 57 sauce. The mashed potatoes were pretty good. Like they took a baked potato and mashed it up. The gravy on top complimented it very well. It also came with some grilled zucchini which was just ok. The dinner salad was just your plain lettuce and I had ranch dressing on the side. Service was sub par. After I got my food, I was never checked on again until I waved my server down just to get a refill on my diet pepsi. Overall, the food was edible even though it wasnt how I wanted it. They can try a little harder with service though. This is why you cant always go with the yelp ratings until you check it out for yourself. Would I come back? Probably not. My husband got a meatloaf sandwich that was like 2 inches high..well...im a Vegan so I ordered the portobello mushroom sand..It hardly had anything on it, the tomatoes were cut in little cubes and the bread( toast) was soggy. I've had mushroom sandwiches from other restaurants, but this was the worst. I've had Vegan food at other restaurants for YEARS...this was the worst. When I told the waitress she said ( with a attitude) " well mushrooms are only this big. She was so wrong. This will be our last visit to Rutherfords. read more

Immediately after walking in to this low-key diamond in the rough, Jenna welcomed us, had us seated, and gave us the low down on the menu. This place has a phenomenal early bird special that includes eggs any way, hashbrowns, and the best biscuits and gravy I have had in a long time. And did I mention the value? We both had the massive early bird special and coffee, and it ran us about $13- try finding that anywhere else! I cannot fully say how wonderful the front-of-house, Jenna, was. She was attentive and never let our coffee mugs reach halfway empty, and was an all-around joy to be around. Came to town for a quick getaway from Vegas. Read up on this place and decided to give it a try. SO happy we did. The Eggs Wellington was amazing! Classic family diner on old Route 66, so take the business route (Andy Devine road, Kingman's one claim to fame) off the 40 freeway and enjoy views of the Hualapai Mountains on the horizon. On our second visit one year later, we recognized the same friendly, helpful servers from our previous visit. The interior is clean and bright, and they are working on patio out front in case it is cool enough to sit outside. They serve giant glasses of fresh brewed iced tea, and you can see the freshly baked giant biscuits on the counter. Hmm maybe should have ordered a biscuit instead of toast. The hash browns and home fries are excellent so it is hard to decide. The breakfast menu has loads of classics plus Mexican food choices. I had to try one of the skillets on this visit, and loved the ranchero skillet, loaded with sauteed peppers, potatoes, melted cheese and a flavorful ranchero sauce. Ask for salsa on the side and find a perfect breakfast. Large portions so come hungry. read more

Good, very friendly service, excellent food and large portions for reasonable prices; this place has it all. The restaurant is cheery and bright, just like the staff. My chicken sandwich was so large that I could barely bite it. Glad I had the good sense to cut it in half before trying. I'd have regretted eating it all at once and not having the deliciousness to enjoy again later. This was my husband's choice. I thought it was a good idea to eat here but it wasn't. This place is below average. I got the chef salad. It was edible but not enjoyable. Once I started to drink my soda there was a weird smell that put me off. As I was finishing with my meal, I grabbed a fry from my daughter's plate just to find a hair on it. Wonderful Route 66 Diner with all the typical menu items. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and for a veggie they served zucchini sauteed to perfection. The steak was a bit sinewy but the flavors of the perfectly cooked meat quickly hid any toughness of the steak. The country gravy was the best I've had in the many Diners I have eaten at along Route 66. The red-skined mashed potatoes were perfect and not over whipped.
