We went there tonight for what was supposed to be a great night celebrating being in Mobile with my tennis team for the sectional tournament. I wore a very cute outfit! New Hudson jeans that had a hole in one knee, a cute rails top and dolce vita wedge heels. When I walked into the restaurant with all of my friends the hostess quickly humiliated me and told me that I violated dress code because I had a hole in my jean. She was rude and terrible and needs to be fired and obviously doesn't know fashion and what is in style. I went back to the hotel and changed because I didn't want to miss my team dinner. When I returned, the manager came over and apologized for her rude hostess and said they would take care of my appetizer and cocktail but they didn't and the food was very mediocre for what I had been through. Then to put icing on the cake they let a table come in to sit next to us and the men were wearing cut off jean shorts and tennis shoes! I quickly called the manager over to explain how they fit into "dress code" and she said that they were foreign and didn't understand how to read English so they made an exception. The place is ridiculous!!!! Don't waste your money! Go to Southern National or Noja where the food is exceptionally better and you can have a hole in your designer jean! read more

We visited your Mobile, Al. location for our Anniversary on 10/31/2014, We were greeted immediately and taken to our table without hesitation. We went to Ruth's Chris last night to celebrate my birthday. The building in Mobile is very quaint and the atmosphere is great for a traditional steakhouse. The hostess staff was efficient but a little over the top. When we sat down at our table it took a very long time just to get water. The waiter was nice and friendly but there were a lot of mistakes during the dinner and he made apologies over and over interrupting us so that my husband and I could barely finish a sentence before somebody else was coming over wanting to have a conversation with us. The bread and butter was phenomenal. The Caesar salad was just OK. The wine selection was great. The mixed Manhattan that my husband had was clearly a mix based Manhattan, good but not great. When we ordered our waiter was very knowledgeable about the cuts of meat. We both ordered a New York strip at different temperatures. When our food came out our waiter recognized that my cut of meat was not right. When he asked me to cut through it was not the right temperature. He was extremely apologetic, to the point of annoyance. It took a very long time to get my rushed steak back out and my husband had already finished his dinner by the time my steak came. The side items were just average. Shoestring french fries were over seasoned with Pepper. The twice baked potato was completely flavorless. We had dessert white chocolate bread putting which was simply not good. And my husband had a traditional crème brûlée which he enjoyed. The meal took A very long time because of the frequent mistakes. And overall I would say it was not enjoyable because of the ever present wait staff interrupting our conversations. At the end of the night our bill was $219 and with tip even more than that. We love food and expensive meals are commonplace for us, But this was simply not worth it. I have always been hesitant about eating here because it is a chain restaurant who is very expensive. But I wanted to tray it so I walked in with a friend about a week ago and we had no reservations, so my friend gave her name and we were sat. Our server was a older lady with short hair I can't remember her name but it started with a e, maybe Erica? She was very short and not pleasant to talk to. My steak was not cooked the way I wanted at all I was very hungry so I was in a rush to eat but by the time She came back up to check on us I had gotten to the point where I was over the whole experience and just ate my sides and about two bites of the steak and didn't want to deal with her trying to re cook the steak. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one was the sides were very good, not good enough for the price but still nice. If you are considering eating here I would suggest any other steak house in mobile. read more

Where do I begin. A restaurant such as this, where I spent $247.00 for two, should have 5 stars. When we first entered, we were promptly greeted and seated. I was surprised how long we sat without being greeted by our waiter, however, I don't really blame him, he was tied up at another table but I would think someone would have noticed we were lacking drinks for some time. Our waiter was Jason. He was great, absolutely no complaints where he is concerned. We ordered two apps: fried squid and veal ravioli. The squid was actually pretty aweful. Extremely tough and chewy, should have been light and tender. I really should have sent it back but I didn't want to start our dinner off on a bad foot. The veal ravioli was quite good. My husband and I both had the steak house salad. My greens were rather wilted and browned on the edges but the ranch dressing was really good. And believe me or not, but a small bug actually crawled out, one of those pesky flying nats. I chose not to make a scene, it happens, unfortunately. For the main entree I ordered the filet (medium) and lobster and my husband ordered the ribeye (medium). My husband's steak was perfect, mine on the other hand, of course, was over cooked but my lobster was perfect. I was half way through eating the steak when the manager came out asking to fix the error with the steak. I politely refused and insisted I did not need another steak. Well out comes another steak...albeit done perfectly this time, I was already full and really didn't want the replacement. Frankly it should have been done right the first time. Needless to say my dog enjoyed one hell of a filet because if I had chosen to reheat it later, it would have been over cooked again. So this was our evening at a restaurant I had extremely high expectations of. They were not worth my hard earned money and it is highly unlikely I will return. read more

Call it cliche - but I've never had a bad meal at Ruth's Chris. Nothing exciting - they don't take chances. But they consistently deliver a great meal - regardless of whether you are eating in Mobile or Phoenix. You never worry about taking anyone to Ruth's Chris if you have an important dinner. It will be good. You'll pay for it.........but it will be good. The lettuce wedge with bleu cheese shouldn't be as good as it is because it is so simple - but it really is wonderful and don't miss the creamed spinach - classic. read more

I have heard great things about Ruth's Chris steakhouse, I was a little disappointed. I made a reservation and when we arrived the hostess went to find a table. A man approached us and asked if we'd had time to make a reservation, a tad condescending. We were seated at a table so crowded with dishes, we had no room for the drinks they later served us. Worse with the bread. Despite telling them none of us drink, it was much later that the wines glasses were removed which gave us a little more room. The candle, in the middle of the table, dripped wax. I had to try to move our drinks to keep wax from splashing into them. The waiter seemed a little hesitant, but did a nice job. I have food allergies and he read the ingredients to me, when I asked if my allergens were present in certain foods. Super! The salad was suppose to be "hearts of romaine". Generally, the color is a lovely light green. The salad was so dark, I had to look closely to make sure it wasn't spinach, which I'm allergic to. It was also soggy, like the dressing had been put on it too early. There were about 3 extremely thin slices of red onion, a few olives, and a teaspoon of feta cheese, definitely not worth the cost, about $8. The ribeye was $41 and not worth that either. The meat was a bit chewy, and very thin. The taste was nice. My husband and our guest, ordered the filet. They were huge, and they really enjoyed them. Although there is not actually a kids menu, our waiter suggested chicken tenders. Good call. My child is 5. They brought out a heaping plate of fries and chicken tenders. However, he liked my steak and mashed potatoes. So it couldn't have been that bad! read more

I've been to Ruth Chris all over the country from San Diego to Florida and this one is in the top 5. The manager checked in on us several times to be sure everything was fine. All our steaks were cooked to perfection and my Rare Bird Bourbon was poured to the top. Great experience. read more

Out of all the "high end" chain steak places, Ruth's Chris is definitely my favorite. I ordered the jambalaya and got a filet mignon with asparagus. Finally a meal I can enjoy. I like that buttery feeling and taste on the steak. Yum! Get there. read more

Great food, great facilities and the Waiter was accommodating and always available without being intrusive. Timing of the appetizers, salads, main course and desserts was faultless. Hubby and I dined at Ruth's Chris on our 41st Wedding Anniversary which was made known when we made our reservation. Hubby's steak seemed to be good. My steak was so full of gristle. I had a very difficult time trying to cut through it and chew it. Hubby told our server and the management insisted on bringing me another steak. By the time my second one arrived hubby had already finished his meal. I started eating the steak and it was almost as full of gristle as the one they returned to the kitchen. I gave up and just quietly asked the server to pack it up so I could just take it home. I had hoped maybe once I got home I could find some edible part of it. We have eaten at Ruth's Chris from time to time over the years because of the quality of the steaks and service, but honestly, the steaks brought to me this final time had to be the worst steaks I have ever had anywhere in my life period. Do not have any idea where they bought those steaks but it just seems the chef should have noticed such a drastic difference in the quality when they prepared them. Considering what they cost us complete with sides, we never wish to ever return again and chance another bad experience and expensive $cost we paid for it all not to mention the damper it put on our anniversary dinner. read more

This place is high priced P.O.S. the steak wasn't cooked to my satisfaction and had no flavor it was a piece of watered meat. I had to ask a different waiter for a drink refill me and my family waited too long for a table and the hostess was a rude bitch. DICK RUSSELLS STEAKHOUSE is way better in flavor and price. My husband has been wanting to come to a Ruth Chris for a long time and we decided to drive the 50+ miles to go for our 22 year anniversary last night. I have never written a review of a restaurant before but I feel the need to write this one. I have never been so disappointed in a meal in my life. To start the evening the service person wasted water on our table. We ordered blueberry Mojitos and the server brought us out martini's. When I questioned her she told me no they were mojito's. I know the difference between vodka and rum and when my husband insisted they were martini's she then returned and brought us out the right drinks. However she did spill the martini we didn't order all over the cart and had to replace them anyway. We placed our order and didn't get our food for 55 minutes after we ordered. We noticed that the party next to use sent their steaks back more than once since they weren't cooked as ordered. We ordered the stuffed chicken, NY Strip, shared broccoli and sweet potato casserole and had water and our bill was 142.80. I didn't finish my meal as it was cooked on the plate they served it on and most of the stuffing had exploded on the plate and black gunk was on the bottom of the plate and stained the table cloth and they never bothered to even wipe the plate down. I asked to take it home they wrapped it up and brought me a bag however what I got wasn't my meal at all. I drove home opened up the containers the next day only to find broccoli and someone else's leftover creamed spinach I never ordered and not the chicken I paid 30.00 for. I will never go here again. We were so looking forward to nice night together and this was a disappointment to say the least. I am so upset to have to pay so much for food that was at best mediocre, late coming to the table and too expensive. I will stick to Emeril's in New Orleans it is always worth the 3 hour drive this place was a waste of time and money in my opinion. Save your money and time and go someplace else. I've been to a Ruth's Chris Steak House in Virginia Beach, VA and now again in Mobile, AL and the food and service are HANDS DOWN, BAR NONE, the ABSOLUTE BEST Steakhouse in the nation, if not, the world. I'm partial to the Cowboy Ribeye, baked potato, Fresh Tomato and Mozzarella Salad, Mushrooms Stuffed with Crabmeat, and for dessert, the Caramelized Banana Cream Pie. I cannot seem to eat the entire Cowboy Ribeye in one setting, even if I just order it by itself, always requiring a "Doggie Bag" to take home and finish later. And when I'm ever in the company of a female companion, I order the Porterhouse For Two. Both are OUTSTANDING cuts with the right amount of marbeling throughout the entire steak. Although it's rather on the pricy side, it's worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY!! Make sure to make reservations, especially on popular days, it saves you a lot of time waiting for a table to open up. If you're a honest to goodness REAL steak fanatic, you MUST try this place!! read more

I ate here on Friday and the service was disappointing. I have eaten at this restaurant many times and have had excellent food and service. The food was delicious. The waiter, Hunter, would disappear for long periods of time and at one point another waiter refilled our water glasses which were empty. The server asked my partner how he enjoyed his meal (it was ok) the server didn't ask any questions as to why the meal wasn't excellent. At the conclusion of the meal we weren't asked if our food should be boxed up. The assistant seemed lost and confused about his job. I would eat here again maybe if I had a different server. Hopefully on the next visit the server won't just be going through the motions. read more
