This would have been a five star night had I received ALL of my meal when they offered to pack it up because I couldn't finish it. Specifically, the most expensive protein was half missing along with the accompanying bed of veggies. I went to this location with a large party, and it was my first visit to the restaurant. We were seated in the room with a bar, and a TV, which I found to be a little unusual. I was under the impression that the restaurant was fine dining so I was surprised to see sports on the TV. My favorite cut of steak is a ribeye, so I ordered it despite it being 16 ounces. I wish there were smaller ounce options. I am one of the people who likes their steak well done, and I was worried because most restaurants like this don't want you ordering a steak well done. I asked the server, and he said it was perfectly fine and the steak would not be burned on the outside. Sadly, he was wrong. The steak was completely charred on the outside and dry as a bone on the inside. I ate a portion of it anyway, but would not recommend it if you are visiting. They did have a delicious house salad and their ranch was great! Several in my party were not wowed either, and they ordered the filet. For the price, I don't think I'll be back. However, if you enjoy seafood, I hear the seafood tower is spectacular. read more

My wife and I went to Ruth's Chris to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was phenomenal Kelly was by far the best server he was very prompt. The salads and appetizers were well prepared and had good flavor to them. My wife order the filet and lobster tail I ordered the 16 oz ribeye and we split the roasted cauliflower and mashed potatoes. My wife loved her choice of entree as for me I regret my decision, I don't believe the steak was seasoned with anything. I don't believe there was even salt and pepper on the steak it was very bland and just not appetizing. I ordered it medium rare expecting it to be pretty tender but it was not it was seared and very tough to cut through. The only reason I am giving this a 4 star rating is because of the staff being exceptional this was not based off the food. read more

This specific Ruth's Chris had workers that spoke to us disrespectfully. We made a reservation, and they failed to tell us on the phone that ripped jeans were not allowed. After discussing the issue with them, they informed us we could go home, change, come back and they would seat us whenever we arrived again. However, when we called they told us an 8:00 reservation was the only reservation available. We were turned away as we are in town visiting a friend who lives 20-30 minutes away. read more

I was in Mobile with friends for a tennis tournament when we decided to stop in for happy hour. We were a little surprised the happy hour isn't as busy as it is back home in NOLA, but the staff was welcoming to a group enjoying the atmosphere, food and drinks. The restaurant itself has the dark, rustic steakhouse feel that you expect from a Ruth's Chris and the service and food were spectacular. I thoroughly enjoyed the crab beignets and steak sandwiches. The staff kept our food and drinks flowing throughout the night and made for a very enjoyable experience. I'm not sure this location gets many unplanned diners, but they certainly made the most of it. Their manager was, perhaps, the most accommodating of all. She checked on our party multiple times and even accommodated a dress code snafu. Even obliged us with a picture in her wine cellar. I can't give you enough stars Ruth's Chris Mobile! Valentines day. Should have been a wonderful time for my wife and I.Unfortunately, the greeting staff at the restaurant has a problem with my wife having a disability needing a service animal, and instead of being accommodating ans welcoming, had us sit for 15 minutes near the kitchen while she confirmed that it was okay to let us dine. We celebrated a birthday and the service was exceptional. The steaks were cooked perfectly. We had the stuffed peppers for an appetizer and they were delicious. The meal and service were both excellent as usual. However, we were disappointed to see a "corking fee" of $10 on the bill. We had an expensive bottle of wine (which was already marked up at least 100%) and there was some left over at the end of the meal. They corked and bagged it for us so we could bring the remainder home. Just didn't expect a fee to bring home the bottle we had already paid for. Sort of tacky IMO. read more

While it's hard not to like Ruth Chris's, I usually go out of my way to eat somewhere else. I can make a pretty mean steak at home on the grill, while there's lots of food I wouldn't even attempt at other restaurants. This visit was really exceptional, however. Food was just OK for a Ruth Chris - my supplier enjoyed his steak, and my spinach salad was just right. The French Onion soup was pretty poor, however - small, no cheese overflowing the edge of the bowl, not much of a crust. However, the service was the shining star. The french press coffee was poured into pre-heated cups to ensure it was piping hot. Even better, when I asked about whether they had cigars for sale, the manager sent a guy out to the mall to pick up a couple for us. Truly exceptional service. We enjoyed the smoke at the bar, which is a rare treat as most states don't allow this sort of thing. Kudos to the manager, service staff and Hunter who picked up the cigars. read more

This was the first time I had ever gone to any Ruth's Chris location. I knew it was going to be pricey, but expected to get exceptional food for the price. I got a ribeye with a side of creamed spinach and drank sweet tea. The ribeye I got was a bit greasy and had gristle in it which I have never had in a ribeye at any other steakhouse. The creamed spinach was very good. When the waitress brought me my sweet tea she says "all of our tea is made unsweetened" and then sets a small pitcher of simple syrup down on the table for me to add to my tea. For those of us that live in the south, sweet tea is sweetened after brewing and then served over ice. Adding sweetener to it after the fact is just not the same flavor. I tried a sip or two of the tea but could not drink it. When the waitress came after I was done, I explained my issue about the tea, and the glass of tea sat there on the table barely touched and she brought me my bill which included the tea. I was in a hurry, so I didn't ask to see a manager, but I would have had a bad taste in my mouth either way, except the creamed spinach. With tip, my bill for 1 person with the items listed above was just over $60. I have had better ribeye's at waffle house and far better at Longhorn. For the $60 I spent, my wife and I could have both eaten ribeye's at Longhorns I think and it would have come with a potato and a salad. Not saying I will not go back, but if I do I will not be so forgiving Caveat Emptor! read more

The food here is wonderful. I ate here a couple of years ago but the experience was memorable. I've had the fillet mignon and asparagus. My friend had the lamb chops which were also good. The service is great. We went to celebrate her 50th birthday. I don't remember the dessert but I remember that it was good. When I made the reservations they asked if we were coming for a special event and I told them about her birthday, they delivered balloons to the table. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Since I don't normally eat at such classy restaurants I felt a bit awed with the service and marvolous food. Expensive meal and soooo worth it. read more

Date night w/ my beautiful wife.. First time to here. Service was outstanding. Servers and wait staff was prompt and polite. For appetizer we went with the crabtini. Can't go wrong, big chunks of crab meat. Specials were grouper and Chilean sea bass. I went with the grouper, pecan crusted w/ brown sauce. Was delightful. Wife went with the petite filet w/ shrimp was also delightful. Our side was the sweet potato casserole... OMG!!! That was amazing. Best ever. Came in for a anniversary dinner and we couldn't have had the worst seating in the restaurant. The manager was horrible at trying to make guests feel welcome with her offensive comments. The waiter took down our order and read back a completely different order. After telling him I wanted my steak cooked medium well the same as my husbands steak, low and behold my steak comes to the table not sizzling at all with blood running through it! They tried to fix it by putting more butter on it and failed to add back the seasoning the butter wiped off! By the time my third steak made it to the table I was completely full off of the bread and my husbands meal. I just found out through my google review that I'm the only person that they respond to as "Guest"! hmm....I wonder if my profile picture has anything to do with that? Came in on a Thursday during happy hour while visiting Destin on vacation. Sat at the outside bar which was nice and breezy and there was live music, nice to listen to but not too loud. Our bartender was awesome, think her name was Lauren. I had the popcorn shrimp and the ribeye. Both were absolutely perfect. Shoe string potatoes were just ok. Many of the servers are tenured employees that have been employed by Ruth's Chris for a number of years. The food and decor are excellent. This IS one of the best restaurants in the world. There are other Ruth's Chris in the USA and they are okay, but they cannot hold a candle to the one here in Mobile, AL. I don't imagine that this location has had a redesign in quite some time. The decor is dark and heavy, and the room we were seated in had walls covered in photos of old white men. Not exactly romantic. Maybe more of a place for business lunches featuring lots of drinking and bragging. Our staff were pleasant and attentive without hovering. The bus staff filled glasses when needed and our waiter was not overly familiar which always makes meals awkward for me. The price is understandable for the food and experience, but would only be a special occasion place for us. I do recommend the lobster bisque as a starter. It's filing but smooth, creamy and delicious. The harvest salad was also unexpectedly good with a few unique touches that I was very pleased with (I am not a fan of wedge salads drowned in blue cheese). The Barbecued Shrimp was distinctly not New Orleans style. Lightly seasoned grilled shrimp drowned in a heavy cream sauce over soupy mashed potatoes. New Orleans BBQ shrimp should be highly seasoned and typically floating in savory melted butter. They are usually served with french bread and a veggie, but not mashed potatoes. It was disappointing. Of course the steak was perfect and the lunch portion was just right. The crab cake was flaky and not stuffed with breading like at some other places and the stuffed chicken breast was also spot on. The roasted brussels sprouts was underdone and were quite firm without that good caramelization that you expect. We did finish with the Crème Brûlée that was excellent and the chocolate duo cake. The cake itself was rich and prefect. The mousse on the side was rather on the light side and missed that dark chocolate taste I prefer. read more

My family and I have attended the last three wine pairings at this establishment. I will say, we won't be back. The food is not even mediocre. Nothing from the actual menu is offered, the sides were ALL terrible. We would have preferred spinach and potatoes over the awful offerings we had. We went there tonight for what was supposed to be a great night celebrating being in Mobile with my tennis team for the sectional tournament. I wore a very cute outfit! New Hudson jeans that had a hole in one knee, a cute rails top and dolce vita wedge heels. When I walked into the restaurant with all of my friends the hostess quickly humiliated me and told me that I violated dress code because I had a hole in my jean. She was rude and terrible and needs to be fired and obviously doesn't know fashion and what is in style. I went back to the hotel and changed because I didn't want to miss my team dinner. When I returned, the manager came over and apologized for her rude hostess and said they would take care of my appetizer and cocktail but they didn't and the food was very mediocre for what I had been through. Then to put icing on the cake they let a table come in to sit next to us and the men were wearing cut off jean shorts and tennis shoes! I quickly called the manager over to explain how they fit into "dress code" and she said that they were foreign and didn't understand how to read English so they made an exception. The place is ridiculous!!!! Don't waste your money! Go to Southern National or Noja where the food is exceptionally better and you can have a hole in your designer jean! read more
