Made an on-line reservation for a moving truck that had to be on a specific date. Chose Penske…read morebecause their web site said "guaranteed availability." Less than 24 hours before the move, the local Penske office calls saying a truck is not available. In the meantime, they continued to send emails confirming the reservation. Changing the move date was not an option, so had to scramble looking for another truck the day before the move, at a much higher cost. The local branch insisted that I change my move date to 3 days later "for a small discount," even though I explained to them from the beginning that the date was not flexible. To add insult to injury, I then get an email from Penske saying I cancelled my own reservation, skirting themselves out of their "guaranteed availability." After great difficulty contacting anyone at their web site, finally got a hold of someone, who promptly transferred me back to the branch that deleted my reservation. They send you in circles so you end up wasting time and getting nowhere. Apparently, this is a regular thing with them. This false advertising has got to stop.

Just to let all you Yelpers know they moved from their original location next door to Dunkin on Ualena St near the airport to the old Alamo rental location on N.Nimitz Hwy. They also merged with the Enterprise car rental that was located on Ahua St off of Nimitz Hwy . So if your in a need of truck or car rental check out these guys they will take good care of you . The manager there is Cameron very nice and helpful also the agent I spoke over the phone was Dennis he also was very accommodating gave me rates and went over the contract very quickly so I can be on my way with my truck . Nice new big location and very clean and spacious. In the future that's where I'll be going for my rental. Also just to let you know it's a little cheaper than the airport location because you don't need to pay the airport location taxes. Support local

On 1/18 at 3:00pm a Enterprise truck reversed into my truck smashing the bed and the taillight. We contacted Enterprise to see what they could do on 1/19 at 8am and the person on the phones customer service was straight up and down TRASH and told us theres nothing they could do and offered absolutely NO help what so ever. We asked if they could check they're fleet and see if any trucks came back that afternoon with damages but I guess the person behind the phone was incapable. What a joke

I have traveled a lot for work/pleasure and know how to navigate rental car agencies pretty well. Every once in a while they get one over me, especially recent with the electric vehicle push. I also almost always avoid off airport rentals as a rule. Given the price and the glowing reviews I thought I would give Lucky Owl a shot. I'm very glad I did. The pickup process was super easy, just walked across the street from the southwest baggage claim where the pickup spot #4 was designated. Made the call and they were there rather quick. At the counter there was no sales push or tactics, they just verified my ID and CC then handed me the keys. Their rules were clearly laid out next to the window. They took photos of the cars condition and encouraged me to do the same. I also received the exact car stated on my reservation. No issues with the car for the 2 weeks we were there. Someone mentioned you blend in with their cars as a local, I don't know how but it did feel that way, hahaha. I especially liked the rubber floor mats which made cleaning easy. My one recommendation would be a trunk/hatch rubber mat. I know they are much harder to come by, but it would help with sandy beach gear. Speaking of, they even offer to rent beach gear! My airbnb came with some, but its great to know for next time. Drop off was just as easy as pickup. Their rental terms mention excess sand has a fee and there is a Texaco close to their location with vacuums. I wasn't sure if we had reached the "excess" level but why not treat the car with respect and clean up after yourself since Lucky Owl treated us well. When I got back they took a couple photos of the condition just like the pickup and had the shuttle ready to take me to the airport. No question I will be renting from here again next time in Oahu! They also have some friendly cats to greet you.

We had a mishap with the key fob not working while we were at the beach on the east side of the…read moreisland. When we realized it wasn't working, we immediately opened up the fob and found old looking corrosion inside around the battery area. We put a new battery in it and left it open to dry out (if moisture had gotten in it). After troubleshooting to no avail, I called the company and they sent someone out charging a $75 "roadside assistance fee" where a representative brought out a spare key fob. Unfortunately, the replacement fob did not start the car (or even unlock/lock the car). The representative was friendly, but not knowledgeable on other troubleshooting steps to get us back on the road. With the replacement fob taken apart (to swap/replace the battery) the original fob eventually started the car. We even tested it further by turning off and on the car a few times to make sure the old fob was working again. We then drove the vehicle to our next destination, and when we went to leave the car wouldn't start again... we made the most of it and had dinner while further drying out the original fob to see if that would help. In the meantime the company sent a replacement vehicle (at no additional charge). When the rep went to start the original car, it stated right away. The following day, I received a voicemail to go over the additional replacement fob and roadside assistance charges. The voicemail said to reference the email and/or call back for questions. I never received the email after 10 minutes of checking, and then I got a large credit card notification; $350 for the damaged key and $75 for the roadside assistance. I didn't appreciate being charged without being talked to first. When I immediately called back to politely ask some clarifying questions, the person on the phone was very rude and raised his voice to me and my wife. Given that the original fob appeared to have prior water damage and the fact that it did start the car (after drying out, replacing the battery) it was disappointing to be charged $425 for something that may, or may not, have been our fault. And to then be yelled at for asking questions. At the end of the day, the whole ordeal cost us valuable vacation time, added stress, and drastically altered our plans. The car rental itself was affordable but the first car we ended up with was older and a little dingy.

Even a cargo van would've be alright. Luckily, when we arrived at the office, noticed a truck with a 8' bed truck, perfect for my needs. We got help from a very nice gentleman named Rod. He was very professional and polite. I can tell he's has great knowledge and experience which is very helpful for us customers. He was very kind in answering all our questions and even very detailed about the truck we are renting. So far the truck we rented is amazing and very clean in and out. I feel it's truly a bargain and I highly recommend anyone who needs to transport goods rather than higher movers, this is the place. Mahalo Rod for helping us out and we hope to see you Sunday.

Arrived for return and could not get in touch with anyone to Open the door to return the key. Had to return the next day which I was trying to prevent due to a busy schedule. Absolutely terrible!!! They also overcharged me. The starting mileage was higher on the truck when I picked it up than on the receipt. I was overcharged for 8 miles.
