I was greatly overcharged for a tow of our car after an accident which occurred close to our house. The police called a Sniffen's tow truck which towed the car less than half a mile to our house. The tow driver (Sniffen's Towing, contracted through Kuni's Auto) refused to unhook our car unless we gave him an immediate cash payment of $240.00. He threatened to tow our car back to his company's lot on the other side of the island if we didn't pay cash immediately. The driver said he could not accept credit cards. I called the Sniffen's company number painted on the side of his truck and was told that the driver was correct to ask for cash payment and that $240.00 was the correct amount for a tow of less than a half mile distance. The tow driver revved his engine and threatened to take our car away if we did not give him cash immediately. A friend had to drive one of us to an ATM to get the cash so that he wouldn't leave with our car. When we had time to research it, we found out that as per Hawaii State Law, the charge should have been no more than $55+$15 for Sunday and less than $6.50 for mileage to about $76.50. We were overcharged by about $163.50. The law states that tow drivers must accept credit cards. The law also says that the police should first give the car owner the option to call the towing company of their choice in case of a disabled car. We were given no such option. (She could have called Triple A.) I called the police to question their choice of towing company and was told that this company is contracted by the police and is the one they are required to use. My husband called Sniffen's Towing/Kuni's Auto to complain, and was told to "come down and show us your balls". No joke. We complained to the Office of Consumer Protection to get our money back and Consumer Protection wrote a letter to Sniffin's demanding that they refund the overpayment to us. Sniffin's never refunded the money. I called Consumer Protection and they said that those tow companies never pay. I went to the Sniffin's place of business and asked them to refund our money. They said, "Go ahead and try to prove it in court. You will never win." read more

I requested a car tow to the car repair shop and they were able to accommodate . They came pretty quick and were on time as they stated. VERY professional and the price was cheaper than other quotes I have received. I highly recommend them. read more

We had an issue with our Jeep and ended up breaking down in traffic and on a major street. AAA said the we would have to wait 3 hours for a tow truck. We called Sniffen Towing and Daniel showed up withing 5 minutes and hooked the vehicle up and got us out of harms way. He towed us to a local business and even helped us trouble-shoot the problem, he is a stand up guy and went above and beyond what an ordinary towing company would have done. My daughter had a fender bender and Sniffin Towing was called by the police to tow the car less than 1 mile back to our house. The driver quoted my daughter a price of about $50 to tow the car but when he arrived at our house he refused to unhook the car for less than $250 cash. He threatened to leave with the car if we didn't give him cash. We gave him the cash so he wouldn't drive away with our car. When my husband called Sniffen to complain Sniffen responded with profanity. No stars for these thugs. read more

On Memorial day My car broke down on the Pali so I called my AAA. The Police soon arrived and said they needed to call their tow people in case AAA took too long. Sniffens showed up about three minutes before the AAA arrived, so both were there at the same time but Sniffens wouldnt let AAA take the car for me because he was already hooked up. He didnt really care about me and my situation obviously because he charged me $300 (and demanded cash) to tow me less than a half mile up the road so that the AAA guy could then tow me on to my house. So... $300 to tow me off the road and then he wanted another $75 to tow me another 5 miles to my house. This guy was a total crook and i would never ever call Sniffens for a tow! read more

Last week my car's battery light came on and as I was driving to go get it checked, it stalled on Waialae Avenue. I was able to make it into the Kaimuki Shopping Center parking lot and needed to be towed to the Servco a block away. I called several companies who told me the wait time would be an hour and it'd cost $150. One company was sympathetic of my situation, but couldn't get me a truck, so he referred me to Sniffen's. I called the owner and he told me that a truck would be there shortly. In less than 20 minutes I was hooked up to the tow truck and we were on our way to Servco. After several bad experiences at Servco I was tired of their run around, but desperate. The tow truck driver got frustrated when they wouldn't help him get my car dropped off into a spot, so he called his boss and asked if he could take my car in immediately. A few minutes later we were on our way to Kalihi and they promised to have the car done by the end of the day. Servco had me on standby so I wasn't sure when they'd get me in. I was given a quote and parts costs on the spot and was called with an update in a few hours. They were really nice and explained what they were going to fix and why. I was thrilled to pick up my car at dinnertime and to pay much less than I expected. The owner followed up with a text message letting me know that he could email me the invoice and sent it in the mail. I'll definitely be calling them if I have another emergency! read more

I'm amazed by the prompt, professional, friendly, helpful service. I was hit by a car on my moped and my moped was left chained up on the side of the road by the police. My attorney told me to get that moped to my residence as soon as possible. Never needing a tow service before, I went to yelp to find a service. I was given the run around from a few companies about the time when they were available to come and was quoted $150 plus to pick it up and bring it to my residence which is less than a half mile away. Luckily I called Sniffen's and within 15 minutes he picked me up from home, brought me to my moped, did all the work loading it up, brought it back to my apartment, locked it up in my spot for me, and it was only $80. I recently had a car with gas leaking out the back and was in dire straights of who to call and quickly as I was not sure what you do with gas pouring out of the back of your car. :( So i called one number who said they were too busy and then called this company. The guy quoted me a reasonable price and told me the exact price. In the past, I have had other tow trucks guys not be up front about the total cost with tax and when I went to ATM the amount to give to them, they "had no change" . This guy Daniel was there in about 15 minutes and quickly got to work. After he towed me over, I met him at the car repair place where he greeted me with a smile. I gave this guy 5 stars because he was honest, efficient, up-front, and the most friendly tow truck driver I have met. I even saw him out somewhere the next day and he got came over to greet me asking about my car. Who does that?.....HE does. Nice! read more

My car broke down in Kapahulu and since my auto service could not find a flat-bed tow, I called 24 Hour Tow It All, who promptly referred me to Sniffen Towing. They came, assessed the front end of the car that was too low for a regular tow, got my car on a dolly-system and got me towed home quickly and safely. If it wasn't for 24 Hour Tow It All and Sniffen Towing coordinating everything, I would have been stuck! Sorry I didn't get the driver's name, but he was great!
