We read no online reviews prior to going and we are glad we didn't. We were in town for a wedding and the wedding party had a list of recommendations and this was one. The place is spotless. Well stocked with novelty foods, has a huge menu and an enormous take out menu. We ordered breakfast to go two days in a row, and that did no justice to the place. I would have liked to eat in for breakfast or lunch. We ended up with breakfast burritos so we could eat and drive. Our experience was good. Hot, delicious food. Unbelievable. I've been coming to this stupid joint for 40 years cause it's the only Jewish deli around and always thought it was pretty bad and definitely over priced.... but tonight they did me in. The Matzo Ball soup is the very best ever....from all the MB soups I have had from west coast to east coast! Treat yourself, the matzo ball is huge, tender,fluffy; the chicken soup is heavenly. He fired me as I used to be one of his servers, until his old time "worked at the restaurant the last 50 years" racist server didn't want me to use the computer to input orders on HER side of the restaurant. My family and I have been huge fans of the Rye Ridge Deli for over 20 years. Despite the surly service and ridiculous prices, the delicious food kept us going back. My experience tonight was a disaster. The quality of the food was totally disappointing, even the pickles which we had to ask for three times aren't as good as good the pre COVID pickle. We went in for dinner a bit after 7;00, the website says open until 9:00. Neither of our orders were what we had expected. My hot open grilled sandwich came on cold bread, with cold meat and microwaved cheese on top, the fries weren't hot. We were told after getting our food that they would be closing at in 18 minutes. Shortly after that announcement I discovered that my sandwich included something that I had specifically asked to be left out. The server offered to make me a new sandwich, but, since they were closing in a less 15 minutes, I would have no time to eat it. Nor could I feel assured that my order would be correct. Instead I asked for simple sandwich to go which was at least $5.00 less than my original order. The price was not adjusted, the staff clearly was focused on closing up by 8:00 rather than customers. I understand that the restaurants have taken a big hit with COVID and we have gone out of our way to support our local restaurants and try not to complain about the spike in prices. I heard the guy in front of me tell the worker that both of sandwiches were wrong but I was creating my own sandwich so I thought I would be fine. They didn't put two ingredients on the sandwich. We asked for provolone cheese and got the most disgusting cheese possible instead. Extra Expensive!!! We had a menu from a year ago and the prices were hicked up 50%... We placed the order for delivery which I ended up picking up since they charge for delivery... He said if we came back and it worked he would honor it. After waiting 10 minutes and actually asking for them to take our order, we were finally helped. It took too long to make the sandwiches. Only one of the three sandwiches actually tasted good: turkey club. But the size was huge and almost inedible because of it. Southwest Cobb Wrap had the blue cheese clumped in one place. Hard Salami Sandwhich was just that: hard and dry. The coleslaw tasted like it was going bad, and one of the two pickles that are included also tasted rotten.
