Wish I could give zero stars for this horrible excuse of a deli. My first issue with this establishment was when I sat down at a table with my chopt since it was 80 degrees, to wait for my friend who was grabbing food in the deli and we were greeted right away by a waiter with a nasty attitude telling us the tables outside were only for table service and that we had to leave even after we told him we were only waiting for our friend who was inside to get her food. Not to mention there were 3 other empty tables outside, if it were busy then I would understand but they were not and I really wish I had taken a photo. In a span of 2 minutes 3 different waiters came over with the same rude attitude and also yelled at my friend inside while she was simply waiting on a sandwich. Second, the sandwich that my friend paid $15 was horrible and barely had anything in it. Horrible horrible horrible place, would never recommend. On first impressions you think this place is good, it has everything,unfortunately the staff cannot follow through. I have visited 4 times now (because i want to give them a chance) yet every time it takes for ever to get the food! They have Illy coffee,yet cannot make a cappuccino! & when you ask them to make it with more froth they look at you as if you have 2 heads! & i was once charged more for froth!! Went there once on my lunch break- over priced and over cooked. Got the quesadilla and side of fries- a small wrap with over cooked dry chicken and sprinkles with a little bit of cheese shouldn't be 18$. Especially with all the other options within walking distance will not be back read more

We ordered two turkey sandwiches and two bottles of water and the bill was $36. The turkey sandwiches were very plain and on basic wheat bread. In our opinion, paying $16 for one turnkey sandwich for is way overpriced. We will not be returning again. read more

The prices are absolutely outrageous! I used to suck it up because it's central to my job but today I tried ordering a simple sandwich that was way too ridiculously priced. I only got turkey on white bread, and after waiting a frustratingly long time for such a simple request, I was told it cost $15! I was here for a team lunch while at our White Plains office. The serving sizes are huge to a fault. I had the steamed vegetable platter, which was good for a basic veggie platter. However, it was enough for five people. I was excited to hear that pickles are always served to the table. I had one that was great, opted to try another and it was terrible! My co-workers seemed to enjoy their deli fare and giant portions, but it is not really my scene. The service was slow and inconsistent. This place is absolutely amazing! Any of the poor reviews are a result of cheapness or ignorance. A classy high end kosher deli. I remember back in the day when this place was a dumpy old diner type restaurant and my grandma took me here for matzo ball soup and corn beef on rye. Now it is a beautiful and pleasant place to eat. My favorite aspect of this place will always be the pickles served on the table. A few half sour and a few full sour. They are using Lavazza coffee which is also a bonus! Dont forget to pick up a few scratch off lottery tickets and see if you can win the jackpot, or at least pay for lunch :) read more

I went with 3 kids and clearly ordered the kids meals only to be overbilled for a la carte including 3 super small fruit cups at $5.99 per! ... they did agree to reduce the bill. This was the 1st time here. I ordered 2 turkey on a roll with lettuce tomato mayo and pepper. And a pastrami on a club roll. The turkey sandwiches where so dry I could not eat it and it had no tomatoes. The pastrami was on a stale roll. All three sandwiches cost 62.00 bucks. Yes, it's pricy but in line for the area. The service is always quick and friendly and the sandwiches are delicious. I usually have a Turkey Ruben with fries and there is always enough for two meals - which is a bonus in my book. Their Matzo Ball Chicken Noodle soup is always great as well. read more

The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the deli is relatively clean and a nice space. I have very serious food allergies and simply asked for a very basic salad - lettuce, carrots and cucumbers. The gentlemen behind the counter gave me a very difficult time, not wanting to make me a special order because he would have to cut fresh toppings for me. He continued to speak in Spanish to another man behind the counter while pointing to me making it clear he was speaking about me. All counter staff had a terrible attitude. This very basic salad cost me $23 (including a water and chips) I work in the area and will definitely NOT return. I had a negative experience at the deli today. My sandwich did not include the cheese nor meat I had selected and my side (which comes with the sandwich) was not included! The sandwiches here are very expensive ($13 for salami and cheese on a roll) but are stuffed with meat (too much for me). Would prefer to go elsewhere for a quick bite. A little pricier than other dinner-types in the area, but it's a super clean place with great quality ingredients. The generous variety of pickles when you're seated really are the highlight (if you're a fan of pickles, I mean). I've ordered their burgers, cold sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, and pancakes and always leave satisfied. It's the kind of food that will hit the spot when you're craving it. There are also tons of cakes, cookies, and other goodies behind the case when you're at the front settling up. Most of the time the waitstaff seems rushed or as if they have a ton of people to wait on when they don't. One time I had to ask for a Coke three times from two people before getting it. I've been here for lunch a few times while in the area for work. The food isn't bad but when you're used to the 2nd Ave Deli, it's not good either. Deli food is my most favorite and we have none where I live. I have family in the area so every time I am there, I stop at the deli for the items that my family loves. I am kind and curtious and ask very few questions because the staff behind the counter is nasty. Rarely a thank you, they bark at you, and if you ask a question....look out. I understand running a deli is very costly, but for the prices they are charging, you should a least be able to ask a question about a product w out getting yelled at. A smile every so often would be appreciated by customers...and we shouldnt feel as though they are doing us a favor by helping us. read more

Kind of expensive for what I got - sandwich was not very big for a deli - definitely not something that was shareable. Rye bread on my pastrami was not fresh and should have been toasted or at least warm. Pastrami was good, but I thought they could have put much more in the sandwich. read more

I went here for the first time today. While the prices are a little high the quality is worth it. Their sandwiches are definitely huge the fresh meats are excellent. First off, the place is a ripoff. $13 for turkey lettuce and tomato on a roll!?!? Give me a break. You can get a better meal for cheaper in midtown Manhattan. The sandwich (which was acceptable) came with a pickle and coleslaw - the pickle was deformed, and the cole slaw was bad (not bad as in I've had better, bad as in it tasted like it was made last month). Next, my friend ordered the Portobello Supreme. It too was okay, but it came with fries and onion rings that were soggy and tasted like they were days old and had been straight up microwaved. I really had an bad experience with a rude employee at this Deli. I ordered a "turkey sandwich" with my bad foreign pronunciation. It might have sounded like "tarkey." The man said "we don't have tarkey. But we have turkey(with rolled R.")" and he said something to his co-worker in Spanish and laughed. I was able to see that they were making a fun of me. So meant! Have been coming here for over 20 years and I can't believe they are still in business. Ordered a pastrami rueben received and corned beef that I couldn't chew because it was sliced with the grain not against the grain. When the waiter finally came over to us to see if everything was ok and I told him I received corned beef and not pastrami, he told me I was wrong and he has worked there for 15 years and he knows. I wanted to tell him I have been eating pastrami since before he came to this country. Meanwhile my husband was eating a pastrami sandwich right next to me and it didn't look anything like mine (because I had rubbery corned beef and not pastrami) but who am I to argue with a waiter that has been there for 15 years. So rude!! Couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. Never again. Don't waste your time unless you like being yelled at by the wait staff. Whatever happened to the customer is always right. read more
