We ordered bbq chicken, chicken katsu, and so musubi. The katsu tasted like it was fried in old oil and the macaroni salad tasted like it was made with rancid milk. Unfortunately, this was very upsetting and we didn't eat much of the rest. The spam musubi was very good but the rest was off putting sadly. We will not be back here.

A great place with daily specials and service was pretty quick! I came quick for a lunch loco moco special, it is $11.99 (no drinks) on Fridays and each day is different. They also offer other usual Hawaiian bbq dishes such as spam masubi. We had limited time for lunch period so we had to go back home to eat which is far (we live in Arcadia). I would like to say this would've been amazing if we ate at the restaurant but my highlights were the flavorful macaroni salad, salty and slightly sweet with a nice tang! The dish was very plentiful and satisfying, the meat and eggs must be eaten with the gravy, always mix around to get different palates of flavor. I wish they gave more gravy, there was a lot more rice than I thought and it would've been nice to have with gravy.

I got their short ribs plate and it was pretty underwhelming in terms of the quality of the meat and the portions. Personally i've gotten more portions of meat at other places. The meat was pretty hard to chew. Flavoring was okay. Whole thing with a drink was a little over $25. Probably wouldn't return as there are better options for hawaiian bbq.

The garlic shrimp plate was so delicious!! Seasoning was on point and portions are good. The chicken katsu with egg is very filling as well. Def will be coming back here

Service was fine. I called for a pick up order and they picked up the phone quick. I just ordered 2 different types of musubi (katsu and regular spam). I have to say, they were a bit dissapointing. The musubi was so overfilled with dry rice and the seaweed didn't even wrap around any of them. The cut of it did not help it's case. For whoever did it, I reccommend a musubi mold and saran wrap to keep it together when you cut it. I think I'll stick to making my own for now.

I was craving Hawaiian food and suggested this place to my boyfriend who was down to give it a try. We were both disappointed with the quality and quantity of food for the price point. I had Kalua Pork and Cabbage and he had a mixed BBQ plate. They were both pretty underwhelming. The flavor was not there for either entrees, the Mac salad had no taste, and the kalbi my boyfriend had was very thin. Portions were lacking. I wish I could've loved this place because I would love to support local, but unfortunately I can't. Unfortunately it's probably best to go to a chain like L&L .. bigger portions and can neva go wrong! I always have extras for another meal for about the same price. Our cashier who rang us up and probably took our phone order was nice though. He was kind.

Fried Chicken Plate, look at them portions!

I had some time to kill before evening classes. While walking inside the plaza, their daily specials caught my eye. So I walked in, and found delicious comfort food in a laid back environment. Service was prompt. The plate was something else though, and I mean that in a good way. When I had ordered the fried chicken plate, as was the deal of the day, I hadn't even expected popcorn chicken. This popcorn chicken actually tasted pretty close to the usual taiwanese style you might find at a boba shop. Portions were generous, too. And for the price of the daily special it was well worth it.

And there's somebody that I'm going back for BBQ Chicken Plate (all rice) from #HoAlohaHawaiianBBQ

I was craving some teriyaki chicken but I didn't want to go to the usual spots. I decided to check this place out instead. Not only was the portion pretty big, but the bbq chicken was super tender and charred just enough for my tastes. When it come char-grilled, I'm a person who doesn't like a lot at all. I just want like some of it charred for the crunch but the rest of the outside left tender. And this fulfilled the criteria perfectly. I thought the ambience was okay. The spot was kind of small, but there were still a lot of two-tops and it was pricier than I thought it would be, even with a daily deal. $5 for a fountain drink is kind of up there. But the service was good and the food was top notch so when I get my next craving for a good bowl, this is where I'm going to think of.

    Wilted salad and Kalbi ribs?

1st and prob last time. Ordered food to go. 1 Spam Musubi order says 4 pieces but it's actually 2 cut in half. The Salad in the mix plate was wilted/brown. Kalbi pieces were as thin as beef bowl beef lol. Chicken Katsu was deep deep fried... oh well back to L&L the kids said

First time visiting. I have the Hawaiian BBQ plate and my husband has the chicken katsu plate. Each about $15. I think it tastes pretty good. They gave us two sauces. Chicken katsu is a bit dry but very crispy. I'll give something else a try next time. I might try a few masubi, which they have many variety. Place looks okay. Service was decent and fairly fast.

Brulee Spam Musubi (only 3 photographed because I ate one, lol)

Pretty darn good! Found this place on Yelp, happy it's near home, so we decided to try it out. We ordered: Chicken Katsu Plate Brulee Spam Musubi Bbq Chicken Bowl Bbq Beef Bowl Garlic Shrimp Plate Bbq Beef Cheese Fries We enjoyed all of the food. Our kids dusted their bowls and us adults killed our plates. I would totally come back again. We came a little too close to closing time so the kids were bummed because we didn't get to play their lil claw game and order shaved ice. So we'll def be back. Happy to support a small business with solid food! (My only critique is their rice was a little dry, but maybe it was an off day, lol)

It was honestly a really good and filling meal. Chicken was fresh and the sauce on it had such a nice level of heat, it you wanted extra spicy add hot sauce but it's delicious on its own. The service was great as I asked questions and the cashier was nice to let me know what were the better options. I came 2 ish and it's wasn't packed and I was not waiting for my food long at all. I price was pretty good is you want a better option compared to eating greasy fast food

Chicken Katsu Plate with side of Grilled Spam Musubi.
    Anna B.

Not the best Hawaiian food and katsu I've had. Very mid quality. The macaroni salad was tasty but the katsu was a little dry and the katsu sauce was not too great. Very watery sauce consistency. The spam musubi was decently made but not worth the higher price.

She was incredibly attentive and accommodating, especially since we were dining with a toddler. That level of service definitely made the meal even more enjoyable. For dinner, we ordered the Ribs & Two Meat Combo with Memphis Ribs, Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage, and Brisket, plus the Chicken & Two Meat Combo with Brisket, Original Smoked Sausage, and Southern Fried Chicken. Our daughter had the BBQ Chicken Kids Meal, and of course we couldn't leave without ordering the Cast Iron Cornbread. Everything was delicious, but a few items really stood out. The jalapeño jam served with the cornbread was absolute perfection, sweet with just the right amount of heat. The Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage was easily one of my favorites. The Southern Fried Chicken was incredibly crispy, and both my toddler and I couldn't get enough of the mac and cheese. Gus's offers great value for the quality of food you get. The portions are generous and we had no complaints when it came to flavor. Parking is easy thanks to the nearby parking structure. Most of the seating is on the patio, while the indoor dining room seemed fairly small. Even on a warm Father's Day evening, the outdoor seating was surprisingly comfortable. We'll definitely be back, and next time I'll be ordering that cornbread all over again.

Okay, I want to make it clear that I am not her to frivolously review a neighborhood restaurant…read more Small businesses are the backbone of our country, specially important and black, woman and minority owned. So here's my good and not so good. Good: the service here is amazing, friendly attentive and I watched every dine in customer receive extraordinary care. The portion sizes are huge and the whole restaurant felt like you were in someone's own kitchen on a weekend morning with all of the right smells in the air for a great brunch. Here's the not so good: it took 4 minutes shy of an hour to get lunch for 2 (2 order of chicken tenders, side of red beans and rice and an order of hush puppies ) prepared. Although the booths were full, most of the tables had their food, so it didn't appear to be a lot of tickets stacked up. When my order was finally delivered, and I took the10 minute drive back home, I opened the bag to fund 3 brown paper bags, wet, soggy and soaking in grease. Because the food hadn't been allowed to cool a bit and it was placed in a plastic bag with no way to vent out steam, every item was soggy and falling apart. The fries were wet and soggy, the chicken had all of the dry coat falling off and most the seasoning was pulled off of the batter that was left because of the water and steam. Additionally, the red beans and rice were so wet, they were almost soup. One of the orders had potato salad as a side, but to received overcooked soggy fries instead. The hush puppies were way over cooked, they had passed the golden brown cook level and were a black brown color and were sort of flavorless and really soggy from the heat of the plastic bag. I'm sure that most of this could have been avoided if I hadn't placed a to go order. But I'm leaving this review so that when you order from this little gem, you consider dining in or asking for the foot with plenty of lead time so that they don't rush, improperly pack the food for transit (let it cool off a bit) and have the time to make sure the order is correct, and cooked to a standard that best represents the business. Pomona needs Day-Days as a locally owned, black owned soul food restaurant. Switching from plastic to paper bags and giving the food time to vent will go a long way with quality for the customer. In the end the food tasked good, I'm sure was prepared with love, but fell flat on the delivery. All of that said, patronize this restaurant!!!!

The young man working that day was super helpful and made our visit even better. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and had plenty of seating. I had asked for cornbread, but they told me they couldn't add it through Uber Eats, so it wasn't included. That was understandable, and I had assumed it was free because of some older menu photos on Yelp. Since I enjoyed the food, I decided to come back and order in person to avoid miscommunication. One thing I will mention is that they didn't include BBQ sauce on the side when I ordered via Uber Eats. If you're ordering a brisket sandwich, the sauce that's already on it isn't really enough. Today, I specifically asked to buy two pieces of cornbread because that was what I was really looking forward to. By the time I got home, I ate my sandwich and found a piece of hair in it. Not ideal, but mistakes happen. Then I went to get my cornbread and realized it wasn't in the bag at all. I had specifically asked for it, and I don't know whether I was charged for it because I didn't ask for a receipt since I paid by card. The workers were very friendly, and the food itself has been good except for the hair in my sandwich and today's Mac and cheese was very salt Overall my experience was pretty disappointing because again I did not get the corn bread I specifically came for and the hair in my food and the Mac and cheese was so salty I didn't even eat it.
