To S&S Cheesecake: In the winter of 1975, I was asked to buy the desert for a party for the house staff of Bronx Lebanon Hospital. I decided to bring a large S&S Cheesecake as I had tasted it before and thought that it was the most amazing cheesecake ever made. I came to the store in the early evening to buy the cake but the store was closed. Luckily there was a shop next door that had one last cheesecake in the freezer. I bought the last cake and was leaving when a chauffeur rushed into the store and said he needed an S&S cheesecake. When he learned that I had just bought the last cake, he asked me to please sell it to him. I told him that I needed to bring the cake to a house staff party but he was insistent that I sell it to him. He said he really needed the cake and offered me a lot more money than I paid for it. I willingly sold it to him and he was very appreciative. As we left the store, he took me over to the limo that he was driving and told me to wait at the passenger's window. I heard him tell the woman in the limo that I had just given him the cheesecake. The woman sitting in the back seat lowered her window, shook my hand and told me how grateful she was that I gave up my cheesecake to her. I was totally in shock and speechless. I had just had the privilege of meeting Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. It is now 35 years later and I still love eating S&S cheesecakes. And they are still amazing. I bought one for my 88 year old dad so that he could enjoy his favorite dessert on Father's Day. S&S, thank you so much for making such a delicious treat. I've been buying these cheesecakes for 20+ years and ordered on online ... to be shipped to my sisters in Kentucky.. who I'm visiting. Well.. it came a few days ago... First thing.. the Cheesecake I ordered was said to be 5 pounds.. they're largest... so HOW could the Fex Ex shipping weight be 4 pounds including the box etcetera... the cheesecake. box was noticeably smaller and of course the cheesecake also was... it cost over 75.00 ...they should have updated there newfound weight and said it online.. instead of posting those precise weights of cheesecakes.. along with the prices.. don't tell me it's THAT hard to change their weights! They don't WANT to... The worst part was the cheesecake.. I've had at LEAST 20-40.... I LOVED them..they've changed the whole cheesecake.. the crust was terrible.. the cheesecake was dry... and it WASNT fresh.. I'll never order it again.. No one carries the product in NJ but was told by an employee @ s & s that a distributor was in the works in my area(Cherry Hill) but it never happened. There has been a presliced option for the large plain cheescake available at the walk-in factory in the Bronx, saving you time and a bit of a mess trying to slice for a large party. As for the taste, it is just a hint of vanilla in a fresh, dense and creamy cake. I don't know if there has been a change in the payment options, but used to be cash and carry only in the Bronx. read more

THIS IS THE CHEESECAKE FOR CHEESECAKE LOVERS. People who don't LOVE cheesecake just won't understand the large slices, the perfectly moist crust, or the thick creamy cheesy goodness that is S&S. I am lucky enough to live right down the street from S&S. If you don't live as close, you can take the 1 train right to 238th and it's just a few steps away. The place gets zero stars for looks. Cash only, and I don't even think they have a cash register. You just ring the bell, walk into the warehouse, and go from there. The chocolate mousse cake is good, but keep in mind that there is a chocolate mousse cake..it's NOT chocolate cheese cake. That said, enjoy the best cheesecake in the world! read more

BEST CHEESECAKE. Very addictive and creamy and fresh. Don't buy cheesecake from anyone else especially after you try this cheesecake! I live like a block away from the actual factory which is fairly small and very factory like but it's great knowing that they just made it and it is super fresh. They close early on Fridays and are closed on Saturdays (follow the Jewish calendar). They sell to all the local bodega's and Garden Gourmet, so if you missed them you can always go to the bodega and buy one (it won't have fruit on it but it will be cheesecake nonetheless). read more

i've only tried the strawberry cheesecake, but i liked it a lot. i see some people are comparing it to junior's cheesecake, but i don't think junior's can compete with s&s. i think only martha's country bakery competes. 1 star knocked off because the hours are inconvenient and the crust is a bit lacking (not enough). read more

The owner is angry& negative man. We just received a cheese cake mess for a birthday in Florida. Cake was leaking and it was not a silver cake plate the box was hot, this is not how a Cheese cake should be delivered, the worst was when I called S&S all the owner did was yell and then hang up. I tried to explain, but he did not want to listen.The cherries were all on one side of the cake and cake was lop sided. The worst ever, the worst is this was sent to us for a special day (Birthday). I have to go out to purchase a cake now, I will never serve this mess to our friends. The owner is dis-respectable and rude owner. Does not value his customers.
