Been here for both breakfast and dinner. I like coming here for breakfast, portions are big. Inside it's old school, no frills, nothing fancy, just food and a place to enjoy company. This review I'm doing is for our most recent dinner. I got a clam chowder which I waited almost 20 minutes for (yikes) but it ended up tasting good. My crab cakes were yummy and so was the rice pilaf and coleslaw. I was full so I took them home. My mom liked her chicken. Again nothing fancy but food is good. Our waitress was nice and felt bad about the chowder. They also have a parking lot which is rare for Cambridge. Also a large menu so you can't go wrong.

I have been to this family owned restaurant many times and I have enjoyed the meals here every time. I went here today with 10 other friends (total) because we heard this Inman Square staple is closing its doors by next month and myself and my friends are sad to see it go. We have always tried to get the server Melanie for our table when we come because she does such a wonderful job of making sure we have everything that we need. As many of the other server do too, our food came to the table ready to eat and enjoyed by all. The meals always come with other sides too so we have always left here satisfied and full. The atmosphere is comfortable and family oriented so it's a relaxing place to eat. I hoped to get some sort of souvenir shirt to wear before it closes its doors but unfortunately it does not sell any clothing apparel. I will miss not coming here as will some of my family members will who have eaten here too.

Get the S&S wings!! The sauce is great, a little sweet not really spicy. Wings came out piping hot and super fast. Staff was friendly and made sure to provide plenty of napkins and wet naps. I look forward to coming back!

There is good reason it's been around for 100 years Great menu, good size portions and fast friendly service. I enjoyed a steak tip salad, and a side Mac and cheese. My husband had a sandwich and the fries were fabulous! Everything was yummy, and I took home another meal.

I used to leave 10 min walking distance from this place --loved it then ! It was 15 years ago , and i get it , things change. Well , S&S sauce wings are awesome ! Onion soup... too big and too watery, bad. Ok, it's not a french restaurant, but any jewish mom knows how to make great soup base. But knishes !!! I got beef ones , they were glued to the plate . Sticky and moist dough instead of flaky. Yet hot pastrami sandwich was great as before. What tipped me over were the dirty floor and table , and sloooow service.

I've been coming to S&S since I was a kid, and it's one of those rare places that feels like home every time I walk through the door. Their wings--bone-in or boneless--are always a hit, especially the buffalo ones, which have just the right amount of heat and flavor. I've been obsessed with their clam chowder for as long as I can remember, and their Florentine cookies are the kind of treat that stays on your mind long after you leave. Even their deli meats and egg rolls are on point--S&S somehow nails both comfort food and deli classics. Back when I was younger, every Thursday they used to serve a broccoli chicken dish that was to die for. I still dream about it and wish they'd bring it back someday. My go-to order always includes a Shirley Temple or a piña colada--they've perfected the balance of sweet and refreshing. And beyond the food, S&S holds a special place in my heart. My mother adored this place until the day she passed, and every visit brings back memories of meals shared, laughter, and love. S&S isn't just a restaurant--it's a piece of my history, and I'll keep coming back as long as those wings are on the menu.

    My EXTREMELY over-cooked latke.

My favorite brunch dish of all time is Eggs Oscar, which I've frequently enjoyed at the S&S. However, this time, when a friend and I went to brunch there, the potato pancakes were HORRIBLE: deep-fried, WAAAY over-cooked, hard, nearly burnt, and difficult to chew and swallow. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE teach the cooks how to make proper latkes??? Those improperly cooked latkes ruined the entire entree for me. Otherwise, our waiter was Warner, who was WONDERFUL!!!

So impressed by this place! I've lived in the area for a few years, but not sure why I never tried it until recently. If you're choosing between S&S and Mameleh's, I'd say go with S&S! The menu is huge, so you can order brunch or a traditional deli sandwich. The portions are huge and everything is delicious! This place has been around forever and has a nice old timey charm to it. The waiters were super sweet and attentive. It seemed like the place that would get a bunch of regulars and I was happy to see people of all ages there! I would 100% come back to try some more menu items.

My husband and I were regulars for breakfast when we lived here over 20 years ago. We came back to Boston with our kids and found it to be just as we remembered it. Everyone really enjoyed their food, and our server was super friendly. Come here for a homey, comfortable and clean atmosphere. Especially good for sandwiches and breakfast.

An institution!! love this place and everything I get here is a flavor bomb. I was so happy to see a vegetarian Rueben on the menu - the Swiss cheese complimented the mushrooms so much and it was such a big amount of food! The service was so fast, everyone needs to visit this place

It seemed like a pretty busy weekend morning so staff was probably a bit occupied to warmly welcome us. But fortunately after ~20 minutes of waiting, the waitress swooped in with her kindness and niceness. The flavors leaned a bit on the milder side, leaving my taste buds craving more. However the portions were impressively sizable. You could easily stretch them into two satisfying meals. The dishes does lean towards the higher end in terms of cost. But fear not, because those generous portions come to the rescue, making the price more palatable. When it comes to ambiance, they may not boast the glitz and glam of trendy hotspots, but it does exude a charming historical aura. If you appreciate the touch of nostalgia and the stories embedded in its walls, you'll find the atmosphere quite enchanting. The experience didn't sweep me off my feet, I might consider giving it another shot--perhaps opting for takeout from their delightful deli or bakery section next time. Who knows, maybe those hidden gems hold the key to a flavor-packed adventure.

Not only the best wings in the Boston area, but this is where you will find the absolute best place to have a long island ice tea. But it has to be made by a specific woman. Ask for a long island and ask for the lady of long islands. I'm sure she'll know it's her. They have deserts, street parking, and private parking in the back. Now go forth and eat great things. Get the S&S wings.

I'd heard Waverly had one of the better burgers around, so when a friend was visiting for Sail Boston, we made the short trip off the more traveled streets to see if it lived up to the reputation. I'm glad we did. Waverly is tucked away on a quiet side street in Charlestown, and that's part of the charm. The dining room is small, warm, and comfortably lived in. Nothing about it feels manufactured. The decor has an old soul without feeling dated, almost like it has been there longer than it actually has. Later I learned that's intentional. The restaurant takes its name from the historic Waverly House, a grand Charlestown hotel from the 1800s, and was designed to capture the feeling of the neighborhood's historic brownstones rather than chase the latest restaurant trend. The room felt like it belonged to Charlestown. Most of the people inside looked like they could walk home after dinner. That's the kind of place I always hope to find when visiting a neighborhood, somewhere that serves the people who live there first, and everyone else second. We asked for a window table, and the staff happily accommodated us. It's a small gesture, but one that made us feel welcomed instead of processed. The burger justified the trip on its own. I added the sunny-side-up egg, but the real star was the bacon-onion jam. It pulled everything together without overpowering the beef. The burger itself was tender, the sesame brioche somehow managed to hold everything together, and I appreciated the choice of Vermont white cheddar and Grillo's pickles. Those aren't flashy ingredients, they're just the right ones. Seeing Downeast Cider on tap certainly didn't hurt either. What impressed me most wasn't that Waverly was trying to reinvent the neighborhood burger. It wasn't. It simply executed it exceptionally well, with enough confidence to let good ingredients and thoughtful choices do the talking. Charlestown wouldn't just lose a burger if Waverly disappeared. It would lose one of those neighborhood places that quietly makes a neighborhood feel like itself. You come for a well executed meal, but you leave feeling like you've experienced a small piece of Charlestown. Places like that are a lot harder to replace than a good menu.

I really, really, REALLY wanted pancakes. The website said brunch goes until 3. We get there at 2:50. They said they were no longer serving brunch and they've moved to their limited menu, because brunch ends at 3. You can imagine the puzzled look on our faces when they told us it ended at 3pm but it's still 2:50pm. They said we would have been fine if we were 5 minutes earlier. Weird that 2:45 is fine but 2:50 is not. We were annoyed, to say the least. But we were hungry, we didn't know what else was around, we needed to eat, and it already took us 30 minutes to get here in an Uber. Two guys came in after us, also before 3, who were also really excited for brunch. They too were shut down. We ordered off the limited menu. It was okay. It was fine. But that's not the point. If brunch ends at 2:45, then say it ends at 2:45. Don't say it ends at 3pm and then shut people down because it secretly closes earlier. I get that you guys want to switch the kitchen over and prep for dinner, but serve the food you say you're going to serve at the time you're going to serve them. Nobody came in after us and the other party that was also in before 3, so it's not like there was some never ending rush of people trying to get brunch. I also don't recall anyone else coming in before we left probably an hour. Poor communication and poor customer service.

Huge shoutout to Eduardo, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our sisters holiday outing feel special and intentional, and to our server Paulina, who was attentive, warm, and truly wanted everything to be perfect. And it was. Let's talk ambiance first because whew. Chic. Stylish. Aesthetic on aesthetic. Even the walk to the bathroom felt curated. Ladies... the mirror alone deserves a moment. Full body selfie approved. Now the drinks. The mocktail I had was SO good. Balanced, flavorful, refreshing. I like a mocktail that has flavor and layers without being super sweet. The apps thoughhhhhh! They deserve their own paragraph because baby... The crab rangoon was TO DIE FOR. That old school wrap dough situation? I have been hunting for that exact texture and flavor forever. My fave restaurant switched dough and I haven't had a good Rangoon since then until now. It was crispy, nostalgic, and perfect. The fried egg rolls? Delicious. The pickled cucumbers? Bright and refreshing and er literally ate every drop, lol. But the WINNER... those fall off the bone ribs. I might have made a sound when I bit into them. Cooked to perfection. A full blown flavor party in my mouth. The scallion pancakes were the only thing that did not hit for me. The dough was thicker and heavier than I prefer. I love mine light and airy like traditional scallion pancakes. If they leaned that way I would have been obsessed. Our main courses... baybeeee The Dan Dan noodles... I did not even get a bite. I went to ask my sister for a taste and they were GONE. All of them. That says everything. My other sister loved the dumplings and even more that they fried them for her instead of serving them traditionally. And the sauce with those dumplings... Let me tell you about the sauce. I am OBSESSED. I took some home and Eduardo generously gave me more to take. That is top tier service and an at home sauce party, lol. My fried house rice was excellent. The mix of veggies and flavors was perfection. With everything else we ordered I could not even finish it. And then... dessert. Eduardo and Paulina surprised us with a complimentary cheesecake that was so light and decadent, topped with fruit and homemade whipped cream. Next time I am absolutely saving space for that. The customer service was truly top tier. The decor, the food, the staff, the background music. Everything PERFECT. My sisters and I sat for hours. We laughed. We ate. We shared emotions. We were present. That alone tells you how comfortable and welcoming this space is. I would go back today. I cannot wait to bring my husband and some of my fellow foodies. And in the tranquil setting of the park.. we found this precious gem. We don't have a reservation, but still we're taken to a table and we checked the menu. I had the yellowfin tuna tartare. The toasted and spiced chickpeas gave a pleasant contrast to the creamy and fresh tartare, and the toasted pita bread was and wonderful platform for each bite. Then the lobster roll came. The fresh brioche, generous tail, knuckle and claw meat, and a bright Maine mixture served by friendly and observant staff. The food was tasty, the staff was friendly and paid true attention to make sure of any allergen was not in my meal. Also with dining inside or outside in a lively quiet setting you can't go wrong! Thanks for your generous hospitality to a hungry tourist!

The tuna came with tostada (tortilla), which was delicious ( may want to pair this with an entree, if you have an appetite). The halibut was moist, not overcooked, served on a cauliflower purée. Friend's Chicken Milanese was so-so, as the bread was burned and hard to bite into. Dessert was the cookie plate, with three warmed chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with sea salt on top. Save room! The restaurant is located in a restored historic building of the Navy Yard, and is close to the water ferry stop to Long Wharf. Casual atmosphere, great for families.

From start to finish, we had an amazing experience here. We ate here on Sunday. They open at 11:30am. We got in line around 11:00 am, and there were already dozens of people waiting in line for them to open . Around opening time, the owner came out and personally greeted everyone as they came into the restaurant. He was so friendly. He greeted passers-by on the street and talked with the locals. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions. They provided recommendations and offered suggestions. We sat at a window table and were able to see out at the boats. It was cute and quaint inside! I got a cup of the clam chowder. I 100% recommend it! They add dill and omit the pork, which made it so delicious! My friend and I split the fish and chips, and it was more than enough for two people. The fish was cooked perfectly and the fries (chips) were crispy without being too crunchy. We added a bit of pepper to our fish, and my goodness does that make a difference. If you visit Boston, want an awesome local establishment with delicious food and overly friendly staff, this is the place for you. This was my third visit to Boston and I'm so sad I didn't know about it sooner. It's a MUST.

The clam chowder was tasty but the Cajun Popcorn Shrimp was just average. Lobster was well prepared but halibut was slightly overcooked and mashed potatoes were bland. All in all, a decent experience.

Walking in, it was ABSOLUTELY packed and super busy, but luckily with our reservation, we were seated within 10 minutes! I had been CRAVING Chicken and Waffles and BOY it did not disappoint! I was served with the most perfectly made waffle with butter that just fell into the crevices and melted along with the most PERFECTLY CRISPY CHICKEN! I was extremely hungry, so I absolutely devoured it, but it hands down had to have been one of the best Chicken and Waffle plates I've ever had. Although I didn't drink the Espresso Martinins, my friends that did drink it enjoyed it thoroughly. Despite how packed and busy they were, the service was FAST and our waiter was so sweet and attentive and the vibe was just so fun and lively! It was such a wonderful way to start our day in Boston and I 1000% would come back here if I could again!

That was nice. Food 6/10- hash was burnt but eggs and English muffin were good as well as the little mini hashbrowns . French toast was really good though . Now let's talk about the cons : 1- for those that cannot have whole milk in your coffee, prepare to drink hot tea or a cocktail because they only have a whole milk option which was beyond frustrating. 2- service was mehhhhh. More servers than tables yet it seemed as though they were rushing us out as they kept eyeing our table and the other couple behind us yet there were plenty of empty tables. Ambiance is dope , I loved the cool art and set up but I'd never return.
