The glazed donuts were one of the best I've had, firm but not crunchy on the outside and soft and slightly chewy on the inside, with a light layer of glaze to provide just the right amount of sweetness. The staff were super friendly and would greet all of the customers and ask about their day, many of whom seemed to be regulars. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu! read more

My bus goes there every morning to pick up bera claw for him and long John for me. The long John is what I have always called éclairs. They are the best of we have eaten in Texas. The only better we have had were in Santa Ana California at a tiny French bakery where the menu is only written in French and the prices are outrageous but the pastries were worth every cent and we kept going back. Good north donut spot if you ever find yourself in the area, but I'm partial to KC donuts in southwest Austin, and a warm original glazed from Krispy Kreme. The donuts at S-H were fresh, and still hit the spot. I ordered a dozen to take to my coworkers on a Saturday - half chocolate and half original glazed. They offer an orange glazed donut that I had to try, which was decent. I got the jumbo sausage cheese jalapeño and it kept me full most of the day. Bread was super soft and had the right hint of spicy for me. When I first pulled up to this place in my neighborhood, I had just one recurring thought, "please be good, oh PLEASE be good!!" They did not disappoint then, and haven't in the years since! We want to preface this review by saying that the woman who helped us yesterday morning was SO nice and friendly and it seems like this is a really wonderful local business serving its community well. We also want to emphasize that we did enjoy the donuts! We got two cake ones--vanilla sprinkles and strawberry glaze--that had great consistency and flavor. Here's the less good news: the sausage kolache we had was mushy and most of it went uneaten. The chocolate eclair was filled with Jello pudding. The most frustrating thing, however, was the coffee. We're iced coffee people (yes, even in winter), and they had, like, four posters up advertising their iced coffees. We were pumped! And what do we see happening after we order two of them? HOT coffee pour over ice cubes!! E-G-A-D! Just NO. Needless to say, they were a watery, tasteless disappointment. We wouldn't come back here again but that doesn't necessarily mean that we wouldn't recommend others going because, as mentioned, it's a sweet lil neighborhood spot and the regular donuts are pretty good. read more

They have pretty good kolaches and definitely they most unique one I've had is the boudin one. It's a very Cajun take on a tx breakfast item but it certainly works well. That said it is super heavy so take it with a grain of salt. The other kolaches are good too so try it all! read more

I can't believe that I haven't reviewed this place. They owners are super nice. I work close by and had been interested in the Boudin kolache. Came back a few other times with my son for donut dates. This was all pre-COVID so we dined inside and I chatted with the family that runs the place. They are Cambodian, and I am Vietnamese, but they speak Vietnamese, too, so we had a sweet little chat.
