So we rented a truck from U-Haul in Virginia to drive to Texas. First our reservation got messed up twice. Second the because the mirrors on the truck we're both busted. The one on the driver side was so bad it had a piece missing and stickers on it to hold in the remaining glass. Brought this to attention of two different attendant. Once we picked up the truck and again when we pick up the tow dolly. When picking up the tow dolly found out that our reservation for that have been messed up. And they had trouble getting it to go through. When we brought up the mirrors we were told that it would be noted in the paperwork but that was all. No offer to fix the situation. Then I was overcharged for both the tow dolly as well as the truck. Called multiple times dealt with several very rude and disrespectful customer service Representatives who tried to tell me that my bank was the one that overcharged me not them. They offered a $140 reimbursement for my inconvenience. Got the truck loaded up and started to head towards Texas. On the way there realized that the brakes did not work properly. My fiance who had driven 18 wheelers said he had to push the brake pedal clear to the floor just to get the truck to stop. He also according to the speedometer was only going to 75 mph. He set the cruise control for such only to be told by my sister driving behind us that we were actually doing between 80 and 85. She asked this multiple times to set our cruise control we explained that we did. Even in cruise control the truck kept slowing down and speeding up even on flat Road. Called customer service multiple times from the road to logic complaint regarding the condition of the truck. After multiple calls finally was told that the situation would be handled when I drop the truck off. I dropped the truck off I lost a complaint the people that I dropped the truck off to even stated that they could not understand why the truck have been taken off the lot just based off with the driver side mirror. I have called multiple times since then spoke to a man named Matt who was supposed to be manager. He was very rude disrespectful and dismissive. When I explained to him about the brakes not working properly and about the speedometer not working properly. And explain to him how we thought we were going one speed only to find out we were going faster. He responded with why did you go that fast if you knew the brakes weren't working properly. When I told him we didn't realize we were going that fast because the busted that's speedometer, he then asked why we didn't set the cruise control. I explained that we did but that didn't work either. He told me that the truck was in perfect working order and there was nothing wrong with it in fact it was back on the road. And then offered me $100 for the mirror issue. They have told me to contact a Ms Samantha Hopkins. They've given me a number as well as an email I have tried reaching out to her multiple times only to receive nothing back. When I tried calling customer service I get hung up on repeatedly. The last time I spoke with someone a customer service they responded with there was no way in the world I was going to be given a full refund over nothing more than an issue with the mirror. This after he had reviewed the notes of all the other issues I had had. I have been talked down to I have been dismissed and I have been treated as if I as a customer and mine and my fiance's safety did not matter. Therefore I have contacted a lawyer. I have tried to handle this outside of going to court but obviously that failed to work. They didn't like talking to me maybe they'll like my lawyer a lot better. And they may have thought giving me back my $1,300 was too much let's see how they like paying for my lawyer and the court costs on top of giving me my money back. read more

UPDATE 7/26/14: We finally got all our repaired furniture back from Gilbert (the company's repair guy) The repair was done in a way that you can't really tell it was broken, unless you look for the damage. Mattresses were also cleaned. Eddie (moving company's rep) made a visit to us personally to see the damage done to our stuff, especially the dishes. We got a check for the broken dishes since they couldn't be repaired. I increased my rating to three stars since the company tried very hard to repair damages out of their pocket. I just wish I would have gotten this kind of service from the very beginning to avoid all of this situation. Original post 7/16/15: I used this company twice for moving this year. Both experiences were as different as night and day. Let me begin with my first experience in April 2015. We sold our 1999 sq ft townhouse quickly and needed to downsize to an apartment until we found a new house. Abel and Fred showed up a bit late on a rainy Friday afternoon. They were courteous, efficient and hardworking. Their only complaint was that I should have hired a three man crew instead of just two since my house was big. I told them that when I called, the lady that I spoke with never suggested anything after learning about the size of my house. They still did an awesome job taking care of my things even if the move was just across the street. The move took two truck loads, one with boxes and the next with furniture. The apartment was much smaller and they organized it well so everything fit to perfection. I paid $89 an hour for a two man crew with an additional $40 for the truck. Tips are not included and the movers will be sure to remind you of it from the get go. I also paid half in cash and half with my credit card. There's an additional percentage added if you pay with credit card. Since I was so pleased, I called the company again for my second move in July 2015. I got a "discounted rate" since I was a returning customer. I requested a three man crew instead of two and I also requested the same two guys for the job. I was told Abel was unavailable and Fred would be sent with the other two guys. Friday came and again the crew was 45 min. late (I'm starting to think this is standard for them). Carlos and his crew arrived with no Fred, I was told he was sent on another job. I was disappointed since I was told he would be there but these guys were courteous and ready to begin work. I explained to them that the last crew did a terrific job in two trips and right away Carlos said they would take care of me. The second move didn't go as well as the first. These guys were careless and mixed boxes with furniture to fit everything in one load since my new house was a bit further than expected. Two of them worked hard but the third was always on the phone or following the other two around. What's the point of having three guys, if only two do the job effiently? It was also hot so the job took longer. By the end, they were in a hurry to finish since they needed to go to the next job. My stuff was dropped on the ground, mattresses were dragged on the floor and things were damaged and broken. Things were also hidden out of site so we wouldn't notice the damage right away. We called the company as soon as we noticed the damage and I was referred to Eddie. I emailed pics of the damages and he sent a third party contractor to "fix" things. Today (7/16/15) I'm still waiting for Gilbert, the contractor, to finish the job. I contacted Eddie again and he said he went above and beyond by paying for repairs since I didn't pay for insurance. We'll see how this saga ends. I'll update my review when everything is said and done. Overall my experience was not the best! It could have been much worse and I'm grateful it wasn't since I had to move twice. I gave the company 2 stars because of the first move was great and at least they tried to repair some of the damages of the second. Good luck to anyone that has to move and especially during the summer! It's not easy finding efficient movers nowadays. read more

These guys are amazing! Frank and Melvin helped move us from a 2-story condo to a nearby 3rd-floor apartment in no time at all. They were extremely careful with our belongings and worked with us to make sure everything we wanted to move would be completed within the 2-hour rental time. Absolute thiefs. Less than a 1 star. Just as of the previous reviews mentioned a box not showing up to their new residence THESE CROOKS WILL STEAL from you. I had a 85.00 plus car lock out tool that did not make it to my new house it's a very large awkward tool that would take intentional effort to STEAL. This review is by a MILITARY VETERAN. They are scam artist who will also try to unfairly increase the price by over charging an extra hour they did not work. In addition to this, they did not have enough people so I physically had to assist with the move. They charge what they charge knowing they will STEAL what you have to make up the difference. When confronted they make excuses and give you the run around to have compensation for stolen/broke items. read more

On October 24 I used SA Moving Guys Chuck/Fred, they were very nice,but they lost two legs to the bed frame because it would not fit through the hallway they had the remove only two and they did not make it home with me. I spoke with Frank who said he would get back with me and has not returned my phone calls and now the main number and his cell number goes to voice mail. Horrible experience. Largely based on other Yelp reviews we selected SA Moving Guys for an in-town move of our four bedroom house. We scheduled the move than a week out. Day of the move with an arrival window of 1-3pm, they call and tell us during the day that their current move is taking longer than expected, and will arrive by 3pm. 3pm turned into 4, then 5, and finally the moving team showed up at 7pm to start on what at minimum was a 6-7 hour job. The crew who were pleasant, mentioned that they were tired and hungry and asked if they could come back out the first thing the next morning as if they started the move at 7pm they would be working past midnight. They even offered some discounts as way to make it up. We were more than happy to oblige as it was probably a safety issue as well. The next morning a dispatch rep called to tell us that the team shouldn't have committed for coming back out in the morning, but she would schedule them for the afternoon. This day again, 3pm turned into 4pm, into 5pm, again pushing the limits of what a crew can be expected to do late into the night. At this point we shared our concerns with a manager named Frank who said, to not worry and that he would send out a second truck of 2 men to help out the 3 we had booked to help make the move go faster. A reasonable solution. Then at 8pm Frank calls to tell us that neither of the crews will be arriving. He said his boss Eddie was in the middle of filling a police report against another customer they were having a payment dispute with. Also because of that he was in a bad mood, and wasn't too flexible on some of the discounts initially offered by the drivers. He said they had not been authorized to do so, and possibly it might have to come out of their own compensation. At this point we were losing money because we had to cancel reservations with other service crews that we hired to clean and prep the house for handover to the new occupants. As such, we accepted a third reschedule for the next morning, when there would be minimal chance of another job impacting their availability. The next morning, after initially confirming the move.... Frank let us know they needed to cancel a third time by text message, with no other explanation. He didn't return any phone calls, likely due to embarrassment. Obviously at this point we made arrangements with another moving company in town. In summary, I imagine their crews themselves are good at their jobs... but they seem to have serious dysfunction on the management side where they are willing to over extend their teams and over commit. Book as many jobs as possible, and then figure out the rest afterwords. They might work for a small apartment move, but if you have a larger house or are on a deadline due to a closing or move out date.... it might be best to try another company that is better coordinated and structured on the management side. read more

I was moving apartments last minute and reached out on Yelp's messenger to San Antonio Moving Guys the night before the move. The owner responded in minutes and had me scheduled for the following morning. Fred and Junior were the two movers that came to help and they were amazing. They showed up 15 minutes early to discuss the details and get a look at what was to be moved and where it was being moved to. Then they quoted a time and got to work. They moved all of the delicate and fragile items with the utmost care. They even moved a small rack of plants I had growing without disturbing the beans and tomato plants trellising up the rack! They helped set things up in the right place in the new apartment so we didn't have to haul boxes around because they set them in the right room. When it was all said and done the time they quoted was dang near right on the dot. They quoted two hours of work and it took them 1 hour and 57 minutes. There was no hidden costs or surprises at the end and they stood by their initial price without question. If you want an honest mover that cares about your items and stands by their price without surprises then give these guys a call and ask for Fred and Junior to come help you move. read more

I used these guys about a month ago for my move from a 3rd floor apt to another 3rd floor across town. They did a great job and worked really fast. The only complaint I have is that they were about 30 min late the morning of the move. I'm not gonna take a star off, but it would have been nice if someone had called to let me know of the delay.
