Saber Roofing completed a whole house tear-off and re-roof for us including skylights, gutters and downspouts. Being technically and mechanically inclined, I had many questions on the roofing details, and existing conditions I wanted to be addressed. I had two goals for this project: to have a quality long lasting roof, and an aesthetically pleasing roof that complements the house. I watched the project installation pretty closely. From project end-to-end, Saber Roofing consistently proved that they met and exceeded all of my metrics: 1) Communication & response time 2) Professionalism 3) Quality 4) Honesty 5) Efficiency 6) Clean-up (in no particular order). Ryan, the owner, is patient with questions and explanations, practical, hands-on on the project, and responds to emails very promptly even during off-hours and his vacations. He actually did part of the installation with his crew. He also gave me a recap of everyday's work during the project. During the actual project, Ryan and the guys working on the various crews (tear-off, installation, & gutter crews) all had great body language, were humorous, and looked like they enjoyed working with each other, and what they were doing. Happy professional people usually leads to a quality product. They were fast and efficient. Juan, the foreman on the installation crew was especially a pleasure to have around, he is a happy guy, knowledgeable, experienced, personable, likes what he does, and cares about crafting a quality product. Other guys I remember like Jose on the tear-off crew, and Javier, who came back to finish off some remaining work were also communicative and accommodating on questions. Jake, who first came out to evaluate the project was professional. Everybody who came into the house put on covers over their shoes before entering. Anne, the lady who works the front desk has a nice voice and is very helpful. We invited a number of roofing contractors to bid on our project, and chose Saber Roofing based on my interactions with them and the Yelp Reviews. There is a waiting list, but it was well worth the wait to get the level of quality and dedication that Saber Roofing brings. I'm hoping for a very wet winter season so I can test out the roof. It's rare that I'm happy with handing over checks for a good sum of money, but I was when Ryan came by to pick up the checks. Great people + Great Work = Happy customer. We have hired them to install a motorized blind in our skylight, and also to seal leaking seams in our gutters and install more gutter brackets (our original contractor left too much space between them). They did good work on both of the jobs, and charged the quoted amount. They respond quickly to emails. The only thing to be aware of is, for our jobs they would not set an appointment at the time of signing the contract, they just gave me a rough time frame they would get back to me (2 months in the future at the time of our jobs). They prefer to work on jobs as fast as possible and then contact you for an appointment relatively last minute, to see what will work for you. Since we always have someone home, that worked out fine for us. And neither of our jobs were an emergency, so we had no problem waiting and letting them take care of more urgent jobs first - I think that's best for everyone. read more

Ryan came out to look at a leak we had after the recent storm. He fixed the problem the same day (vents that needed to be nailed down), and only charged $100 for the 4 vents. I'd had an estimate from another roofer who wanted to do a much more complicated process at $200 per vent and couldn't do the work for 2 weeks. He also said there was the same problem with the skylight and it needed to be fixed. Ryan said there were no other problems with the roof. He didn't try to high-ball me or sell me other services. I would trust what he says and would definitely call him for any other roofing needs I may have. read more

When I first called Saber Roofing I spoke with Ryan. It was right after the storm and he was honest and told me he would not be able to come give me a quote for 2 weeks. When I contacted another company during this busy time they would never commit to even coming out. Ryan called the day before the appointment to confirm and gave me the quote the same day. Ryan Saber was by far the most knowledgeable of the 3, and his quote was good. The work has been done and we are extremely pleased. Our garage had no ventilation - the fan makes it bearable in there! The project initially was dealing with a leak in my roof, but when Ryan came to look at the job, we addressed two other issues, and I decided to also get part of the roof replaced due to age prior to the installation of solar panels. The other issue was a dampness issue in the attic that might have been roof related, but Ryan's investigation indicated it was not roofing related. While Ryan was finishing up his visit, I had a small medical challenge, and even though we had just met, he stepped up and was a real help. Full service does not get any better. The whole Saber team and their work was great. Their sales guy, Jake, who made the first visit was very knowledgeable and confidence inspiring. When we gave them the job, Ryan the owner checked in with me every day to let me know what was happening and the plan for the next day. Their crews were also very professional and the work was very high quality and they left the site spotless every day. We had an animal in our roof. We tried 4 pests control companies and got lots of promises but no solution. Finally we got Saber to evaluate our tile roof for openings. They closed everything up and there are no animal sounds upstairs anymore. We also had getters needing replacement and some of the fascia board was rotted. They replaced the rotted wood almost invisibly and installed the new gutters in precise fashion. read more

I'd give Saber 6 stars if I could. They recently re-roofed our house and replaced our gutters. Communications were excellent throughout, quick and thorough. They even provided daily progress updates with photos, which was especially helpful as we were out of town while the work was done. The finished product was of high quality, including cleanup: the site was spotless when they left. Saber is certified with a number of shingle manufacturers: GAF, Owens Corning, etc. That enables them to provide longer warranties than other roofing companies, plus Saber really understands the pros/cons of various roofing alternatives. Pricing is competitive, too. We got quotes from three reputable roofers in the area; Saber's price was the best. read more

I asked them to take care of some relatively minor roof repairs for me and while they probably could have blew me off for a bigger job, they were happy to help and provided excellent service. The crew that came out were polite and total professionals. We recently had some roof repairs done by Saber and are very satisfied. The quality of communication was great both as we were deciding what needed to be done and when we were scheduling the work. I have to tell you that I must be the luckiest guy (as to leaky skylight issues) in the world. I HAD a thirty plus year old Velux skylight that would only leak when the wind would blow horizontal sheets of rain on it. I went on the Velux corporation website and found a recommended roofer "Saber Roofing". I decided to give them a call yesterday late afternoon (January 17, 2019). Spoke at length with Ryan and he took the time (between calls) to fully go over and explain all the issues connected with trying to "patch/fix" my very old skylight. Now here is where my good fortune and luck came in. It turned out that he actually had in his warehouse the exact size of new Velux skylight that I needed to replace the old one. He said he had an opening in his calendar due to a rescheduling, and said he could send a crew to remove the old, and install the new skylight the very next day (with zero rain predicted). From my initial interaction with him, I felt comfortable with having this happen. His crew showed up on time, and I watched them do a very professional removal of the old, and installation of the new skylight. They impressed me with their courtesy, professionalism and most importantly the clean up efforts prior to them leaving. I watched them move their truck out of the driveway and carefully look for nails and such prior to leaving. They exemplified the "attention to detail" aspect that many companies have let slip... After losing a year-long fight with the San Mateo Planning Department over putting a Tesla solar tile roof on our historic home, we turned to Saber Roofing for help. The rainy season was approaching, and we needed a new roof relatively quickly. We knew that it wouldn't necessarily be cheap or easy, given the complex roof lines on our house, but Ryan and his crew made the whole process as painless as possible. He put us on the schedule on short notice, and even moved us up by a few weeks so the work started sooner than we expected. The various crews that came out to work on the roof at different stages were very competent and professional, including two painters from Ormsby Painting who came out twice at short notice. I have found a uplifted plumbing flashing on my roof recently. I emailed Jake who came to my house easier this year to fix a broken shingle. He responded quickly and said he may have some time this week in between his scheduled stops and no charges! We have been very happy with the roof that Saber installed over ten years ago. I wanted to do a little gutter maintenance recently, but it wasn't substantial or difficult enough to ask for professional help. However, I wan't sure what kind of sealant I should use, and I had a few questions about our gutter screens. I contacted Ryan Saber by email and received an immediate response. Instead of just passing me off to Home Depot, he told me to stop by his office any time and he'd leave out a tube of the same professional goop that they use on all their jobs. We had a leak in our roof earlier this year and called Ryan because he helped us fixed another issue with a different area of our roof a few years back, and he did such a great job. Ryan assessed the issue and provided a detailed proposal for the repairs needed. Even though his estimate was a little higher than another estimate we were considering, we went with Ryan because the product he was planning to use was higher quality with a longer warranty, and we trusted him given our past experience working with him. Because Ryan is committed to high standards and doing the best for his clients, he is usually booked out for months. He had someone come to temporarily patch up the area that was leaking, and we had to wait a few months for the repair work to get scheduled, but it was the right decision. The crew worked for a week and Ryan sent an update at the end of each day to keep us posted on the progress of the work being done.
