I saw some people on a local forum suggest this place for Mexican food in town so I thought I'd try them out. I'm always passing by on my bike but never actually tried them until today. I was expecting a taqueria style place with a good salsa bar but was slightly disappointed when I saw it was a table service place. The service and food weren't bad by all means as I enjoyed the chicken fajitas and the salsa that comes with their tortilla chips. However, the pricing was something I wasn't fond of. At other places, they offer free unlimited chips and salsa, as well as lunch specials every day. But at this place, you only get 1 free basket of chips and salsa. Refills cost $1.50 each. My friend's super burrito was nearly $18 and didn't come close to the size of super burritos at places like Vallarta, which charges a few dollars less and has an awesome chips and salsa bar. I might consider trying them again on a weekday for lunch if I'm ever free but I'm not in a rush to come back. There are just so many other options out there that offer a better value and bigger portions.

Everything was amazing!!! This family owned and operated restaurant has authentic Mexican cuisine! They have the best food in Elk Grove and surrounding cities! I have enjoyed several meals at Sabor A Mexico, 8868 Bond Rd, Ste 500, Elk Grove, CA 95624. This restaurant is kept very clean and well maintained, has a great outside patio, and really caters to family. They also have a great wine and beer menu. Every time I have come I've had the same server. He has always been very friendly and attentive. The food here is of a much higher quality than other places I've tried. The Burritos, Juevos Rancheros, chips and salsa are really good. Everything I've tried has been really good. The sauces are not too salty nor hot. The rice and beans taste good but a little different than other restaurants. The in house made Jamaica is what they're known for. I like this restaurant and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

Truly one of the best restaurants in Elk Grove! The food is consistently delicious, and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything is always extremely clean and fresh. The staff is always welcoming, attentive, and some of the kindest people you'll meet. I recommend this place to everyone!

Came here after I saw a movie with my brothers. Service was great, we were seated quickly and were able to place an order within 5 minutes of getting to the restaurant. We ordered the birria tacos and they were so good! I loved how the consome was ever so slightly spicy, it gave a nice kick to the tacos. My only complaint was I wish we knew we had to pay at the counter, we thought we had to wait our bill to come for our waiter. We only realized we had to pay at the counter when we saw another person get up and pay there. Overall our experience here was and we would definetly eat here again next time we're in the area, especially if we're craving some tacos!

Nice and clean place. Service was great. We were greeted as we entered. Shrimp burrito was good. My two items combination plate was taco and burrito with carnitas. My only complaint, I was expecting rice and beans IN my burrito. I guess this is an old thing now. The carnitas were seasoned well and the chips and salsa were great.

I must say, every time I visit Sabora a Mexico it's a new adventure. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel right at home. On this visit, we ordered takeout--two tamale plates, a breakfast bacon Burrito, and a shredded beef super burrito. Everything was flavorful and satisfying, just like always. The customer service continues to stand out. They consistently treat you like part of their family, and that kind of hospitality keeps us coming back again and again.

Wanted to seat us outside on a cold winter day because they did not want us to sit indoors with a service animal. 1-10-2026 2:15 pm I let the person know that we are allowed to sit indoors but he smiled as we left the business. Sad. We have been here before and drive here from Lodi just to eat here. Now we can never return.

Went here for a bday party in a large group. Service was very friendly and attentive. However, sad to say I was dissapointed by the food. Ordered the fish tacos and they used what looked like a Gorton's frozen fish fillet like you get from the grocery store. For $19? The server readily admitted it was pre-frozen and battered so offered me the shrimp tacos instead. I accepted, but the shrimp they used were so small, it was just ok. Rice was really good, beans okay. I don't think I'd go back.

We just couldn't wait to come back to Sabor A Mexico in 2025. The service here is impeccable. Giselle our server as always so polite & courteous. Including Joesph and the rest of the staff are always waiting to serve. They all work well together. This place is really a diamond in the rough. We're a party of 4. We ordered the Sizzling Shrimp Fajitas, Sizzling Chicken Fajita, Chili Rellenos with Crispy Taco & Shredded Beef Super Burrito with Rice & Beans. The food was served heat hot. Hats off to the Chef. This food as always mmm good packed with lots of flavor & seasoned to perfection. We will definitely be back.

This mango margarita was a 10 out of 10! This was on their happy hour menu by the way, and it did not disappoint at all.

Feels like a hidden gem. The inside is such a vibe, so cute and comfortable. They serve cocktails too which is great! I ordered pozole for takeout, it lacked flavor but was made very well. I think if I sit down and eat it there I may have a different opinion. The service was nice and my food was ready pretty fast. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Hey, you guys haven't been there in a while. A lot has changed the last time. I was here. You guys made an amazing chicken fajitas for a lady. I go and see next-door. She's like a mother so you guys made it so delicious and she enjoyed it. It's crazy how my lunchtime is I'm not able to come over you guys open at 11 and my lunch is done by 10:35 so I miss you guys. I'm sorry I hope to see you guys soon because I enjoy you guises food. I love your rice. Of course you're beans. There is nothing that doesn't taste right there. Everything is delicious the food the drinks the customer service when you walk in the building you just feel like $1 million you they greet you so excited and they're just happy to take your order and they wanna make you happy and keep you smiling they bring you chips and salsa and they bring you napkins and water and they bring you napkins and straws without you, ask them and everything is good. You can't help but not to share with your friends or order something to go this is your Andi" neighborhood friend that works across the street at the Arco. From the very first time, I have really loved everything I have ordered. Today my friend and I had excellent, fast and very friendly service. The jalapeño margarita was sooo yummy and refreshing. My grilled fajita veggie super burrito was robust and tasty. Could only finish a 1/3 of it - but that's ok, because I'm pretty sure it's just going to be as good for dinner. Always such a treat to here. read more

Agree with most people who said that service is excellent. The waiters were very friendly and checked in a few times to make sure we were good. The restaurant is clean and well decorated, so there's definitely positives. Oh, and FREE chips and (spicy) salsa were a good start. I craved a burrito that I could hold in my hands and just bite my teeth into, so I ordered the super burrito. It was that or meat, cheese, and beans burrito or breakfast burrito. The burrito came out pretty big with a side of rice and beans. I tried to pick up the burrito with my hands and immediately felt the flimsiness. I tried again to wrap my hands around it, and it just flopped everywhere. My enthusiasm for a burrito was squashed. I ended up eating the burrito with a knife and fork and it just didn't hit the spot. At the end of the day, I go out to eat for the food. While I appreciate the great service, I'd love to enjoy some good food too. A few people ordered some sizzling plates, so if you go here, maybe that's the way to go. :) read more

We went in for dinner tonight and it was amazing! The staff is wonderful, very friendly and welcoming which is always nice especially right now. The business is very clean and if you're worried about COVID protocol nothing to worry about here. Everyone is wearing masks and tables are spaced out... also there is hand sanitizer available. Now the food... look out I was totally impressed and it's hard for me to be impressed with Mexican food. Coming from Pueblo I know good Mexican food, and you need to check them out. The chips and salsa are great! I can tell they try not to make it too spicy... I would actually like to see it with more spice if possible. The fajitas are so good... I highly recommend chicken and steak. They have a killer spice not sure what they use but they have it figured out that's for sure. My husband got the chimichanga and he said it was awesome. Well he cleared his plate so that should tell you something. If you want his opinion get the carnitas. My son went for the super burrito and just FYI it's SUPER! This baby is huge but he said it was yummy... get the chicken. All in all we will be back. And if you my opinion on drinks the mango margarita was really good. My hubby said his beer was refreshing too. read more

Food is excellent! My favorite Mexican food in EG. Customer service is always great. There was a big mix up of my To Go order and we had to go back to get the rest of it which of course was a huge inconvenience especially since we had to wait for a train at railroad tracks to go back to get the rest of our food. I understand we're all human and mistakes happen, and it's just food (not life or death) but when customers are inconvenienced it would be appreciated to compensate them some way to make up for it. read more

Had a super burrito and super nachoes. Not that great and really disappointing. Food came fast but burrito was mainly filled with beans and little meat, just wrapped quickly...same with nachoes. Making it home would have been better. Maybe don't get these items and just try tacos. read more

I was happy to try out this place again I came about 7yrs ago or so. The food was terrible. I decided to give it another try. The service is impecable the young man was so wonderful. First time trying this local spot recently. It wasn't busy on a week night. The restaurant is pretty small and less than half full while we were there. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. I liked the fact that they brought them out to you vs. having a salsa bar like most of the local places. Food was good. I had the Super Burrito which was huge. I am a pretty big eater and saved about a third to take home. My wife and son both finished their orders and have a thumbs up for the food. Service was very polite and friendly. Overall a positive experience and definitely adding to the couple of other local spots that we frequent. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Elk Grove. We ordered street tacos (carnitas, Asada, and Al pastor), chicken taquitos, fish tacos, a carnita Specialty pate with rice and beans, a side of chicken enchilada, and a side of chips and salsa. Everything was so delicious. The tacos were full of flavor, and rice was moist and not dry. The price was decent. The service was great. The employees were super attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back again. read more

Not sure what was going on today, but the chorizo itself tasted off and was missing potatoes in the burrito. Also had maybe a scoop of rice and beans each somewhere in it. I honestly felt sick trying to eat it and didn't finish it. My partner ordered 6 burritos, and we had to reorder as the cashier missed one of the burritos and we had to wait another 10 minutes for it to be done. The price also increased, it was around $14 after tax for the chorizo breakfast burrito by itself.

The last time I came by after 6 p.m., they had already sold out of the Garlic Shrimp and Chipotle Pineapple Pork--the two meats I was there to try. This time, I got the chance. I ordered the Queso Tacos, which come with three tacos and your choice of meat (fish and shrimp are available for an additional charge). They're topped with sour cream, Parmesan cheese, onions, and cilantro. Unfortunately, the tacos were only ok. The Chipotle Pineapple Pork was a bit too salty and oily. The Garlic Shrimp was also disappointing. The shrimp had become soft instead of having a nice bite, the shells were mushy, and the generous amount of sour cream overpowered the flavor. I was hoping for a little more texture and crispness. I also tried both the green and red salsas, but neither one stood out to me, as they were both pretty mild and didn't add much flavor to the tacos. The girl was nice though, she answered all of my questions. If I were to try this place again, maybe I'd try the street tacos or their bowl.

My mom came up to the counter with our order already written down and ready. The clerk told her she needed to step aside because our order would "take too long." My mom did as she was told and stepped aside, and the clerk helped two other customers. When my boyfriend and I came up to the counter behind those customers, my mom asked if she could place the order now since she had already stepped aside and waited. The clerk responded, "I need to take their money first." We explained that we were with her and that she had already waited while those customers were helped. Instead of helping us next, the clerk then said she needed to help everyone else behind us before helping us, which made absolutely no sense. The line could have continued growing and we would never actually be helped. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told to step aside again and wait another 10 minutes. The way we were spoken to was extremely disrespectful, especially toward my mom. We came ready to place a large catering order and were prepared to spend hundreds of dollars for our son's first birthday. Unfortunately, we never even got the chance because the staff refused to take our order. If this is how customers are treated, I can't recommend this place. I will definitely be sharing this experience with others and telling them not to come here.

The person working the cash register was friendly and took our order quickly. My food came out in what felt like 5 minutes and tasted great. The price of my meal came out to a little more than what it would've been at Chipotle, but the generous helping of guac and edible bowl with a soft crunch I feel brings more value than the difference. I would say the freshness of the ingredients and their quality maybe be slightly under what I'm used to at other establishments, but combined the salad still delivered and I was definitely feeling full after eating everything and three quarters of the actual bowl. Access to an unlimited salsa bar and unlimited chips is also a great touch. The tables and chairs could've been a bit cleaner, but it wasn't egregious or anything. I'll definitely make an effort to come back more frequently. Hopefully the other items on the menu give as much bang for your buck as this one.

I ordered the chillies reno plate with a chicken enchilada in red sauce. The chillies reno was not that great. It had a layer of red sauce of top. Just not to much liking of fluffy soft and lots of juices when eating. My partner got the carne sada plate and told me he could made a better carne soda meat at home. We didn't have a vet good experience with the food. We will not be back. Too bad its so hard to find a good Mexican restraunt in Elk Grove. I will say the customer service was excellent. The woman at the cash register was pleasant and made accommodations to my plate and i was able to get an enchilada and chillies reno combo. We ordered the orchard and that was A plus fabulousooo. The restraunt had lots of seating and abundance of salad and chips. There was also musica and a TV to look at.

I visited this past Saturday and it was quite busy inside like it always is. The restaurant is large enough to fit a lot of people, so finding a seat isn't an issue. To order, you line up in front of the register and wait until they call you. Once it was my turn, I ordered a Super Burrito with Al Pastor, which is my favorite protein choice there. Usually I order 2 tacos with my burrito but I was saving room for Korean bbq that day! The Super Burrito comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. I also ordered a medium pineapple agua fresca, which paired perfectly with my burrito. After ordering, you're handed a number to take to your table so the servers know where to bring your food. As I'm waiting for my food, I helped myself to the self-serve chip bar. The chip bar is my favorite thing about the restaurant besides the food and quick service. I always get loads of both the white and red pickled onions, and some salsa to go with my chips. They offer many sides to choose from so that anyone can customize their meal to their liking. The pickled onions have the perfect level spice and acidity to them which helps with cutting down the greasiness you may get from a burrito. I also like to snack on them for fun too! The food comes out extremely quickly. When I finished placing my order and brought my number to my table, I went to the self-serve bar right after to get some chips. Not even 2-3 minutes later, I came back to my table with my burrito already there! The burrito was absolutely delicious and piping hot. It's the perfect size for me and eating it with the pineapple agua fresca and some chips makes it a perfect meal! Coming to La Favorita Taqueria is always a treat and I appreciate the quick customer service, self-serve bar, and delicious food! I highly recommend the Al pastor as your protein choice and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu!

The food was outstanding! We had hot n sour soup, spicy pork dumplings and sesame balls. My husband is still talking about the sesame balls today because they were so good. Their portions are very generous. The soup spoons were a pretty coated ceramic and the silverware was heavy weighted and comfortable, not forgetting to mention they were gold plated. It was like dining at a friend's house instead of a restaurant. The service was prompt and friendly and the three men in the kitchen were working tirelessly. The prices were reasonable. The Xiao Long Bao, Pork and Cabbage, Mongolian Beef, Chow Fun, and Mixed Vegetables were all delicious to us. We tried to order something new each time we ate here to try more of the menu. The restaurant can get busy but we haven't been when there's people waiting to come inside to be seated. Overall, I thought this restaurant was good and we'll be back in the future!

Ambiance: Always good Service: Great, until we received the bill and the Server's response to our request for a correction We ordered the Pork Fusilli, and a Sicillian pizza, added a $5 Salad (pix attached). Server gave us the bill, upon review, we noticed a "1/2 Caesar Salad" and a corresponding $13 charge, not $5... Certainly NOT what we ordered . We explained to the Server the error and she apologized, said the bill will be corrected. Upon the Server's return, she said she was sorry and informed us we ordered the Caesar, not the regular $5 salad. Really? Instead of correcting their mistake, we now found ourselves having to explain to the Server, twice what actually happened while she took our order, I pointed out to their menu and I said "we wanted to add the $5.00 salad". That was it! We never asked for the Caesar, and specially a "half-order". The Server emphatically refused to correct the mistake. Obviously her decision would have never be my choice, had I been the Server, or the owner of the restaurant. We hate giving bad reviews, but being unnecessarily placed in this awkward position we did not appreciate it.

We had a great experience at Sabor a Mexico in Elk Grove! We chose to sit out on the patio, and it was a really nice spot to enjoy our meal. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly and attentive, and our food came out quickly. Everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor. The tacos were delicious with generous portions, and the salsa was excellent. You can tell they put care into the food. Overall, it was a great meal and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back the next time we're craving authentic Mexican food. Highly recommend!!!! read more
