My husband and I found a real Mexican treasure in the very Center of Mineral,VA. We ordered their homemade Guacamole, which deserves all 5 stars for the flavor and 4 stars for the portion size. I also had Lunch Vegetarian Fajitas, which probably were the best fajitas I've tried in my life. Vegetables were grilled to perfection and had juicy flavor. My husband had Flautitas with beef and chicken. He was overwhelmed by the authenticity and rich flavor of the food. We concluded our exploration of this tiny Mexican place with their delicious smoky-flavored Flan. Oh and of course, our server was the sweetest lady Olga. Stopped here for lunch on a recent trip to the Lake for a meeting. Looks like an old building, with an odd layout, but it's worth the stop. My wife and I both ordered off the lunch menu, which was a good idea. Even the lunch portions are very large. I had the chicken fajitas, with rice & refried beans, and everything was very good. As were the chips N salsa. My wife had the chicken chimichanga, also very good. There are not many, if any, mexican options in Mineral or on Lake Anna, so this may become our new favorite when we move to the Lake next summer. read more

Hard to say anything about the food when they closed early and we were left with no place to eat at all. The only other place in five miles is the greasy spoon up the street. So we didn't eat out tonight. I don't appreciate places that advertise hours and then don't stick to them. If you want flexibility advertise an earlier closing and stay open later if you are busy. My daughter and I happened on this place while passing thru towards Lake Anna. Being in a remote area of VA, I didn't have high expectations - but my daughter was hungry. We are from Colorado, so we have regular access to tasty Mexican food and are routinely disappointed when traveling to other areas (like Pittsburgh). Fortunately, we were both pleasantly surprised, right from the start (chips and salsa were good - not overly laden with cilantro like some other places). We live in DC where there a lot of Mexican options. So, we weren't sure what to expect. This place is right in Mineral. Awesome. Good food. Warm crisp chips and tasty salsa. There's a bakery on site and the cookies looked good, but we were stuffed! Nice people. Vegetarian options. Reasonable prices. Can't really ask for anything more. Very dry tamales with not much flavor, I would have loved to have some made with LOVE. They were just bland and very dry. The rice was decent at the least, not the best rice I've ever had. I'll start with the positives, fajitas were very good, salsa was excellent! Negatives, service was terrible no one smiling and I had to ask for more salsa and then they could see I had no chips and didn't bring any, I had to ask for chips too. It took almost 10 minutes before we were waited on and received our drinks and then it took a good 30 minutes to get the food. The waitress had no idea who came in first, she started waiting on the people who just sat down. The place was a little dirty on the floors, but nothing was sticky on the table. Overall I would recommend it, I just wish the service was better. Food was good! read more

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever gone to. Considering that I live in a this little small town of Louisa, I don't mind trying new places here. But the lay out of this place is strange. But their food is the best. The chips and cheese dip are my favorite. This was my first time stopping at this restaurant, and I'm really glad I stopped here. We eat Mexican a lot in Spotsylvania, but nothing even comes close to the quality here. If you're debating whether you should give this place a try, I'm here to say YES, you should!! We love this place! My family comes here a lot, but it was my first time and I can see why they rave about it. The menu is massive, with the standard things like burritos and tacos, but also more interesting things like chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, etc. Nothing is greasy (not even the chimichangas) and the chips are fresh and delicious. Loved the salsa and the guacamole is superb- very flavorful with tons of lime. The only downer was that they were out of flan, but we were honestly too stuffed to eat it anyways! read more

Not in my book. The enchilada and burrito we had were passable. Friendly staff? Hmmmm our waitress was pleasant but the guy that seated us wasn't welcoming at all. We have a vacation home on Lake Anna, and there is a severe shortage of restaurants. So, we had hoped to add another to our list to take the family to. We had high hopes for this local restaurant, but came away disappointed. My wife and I had fajitas, hers the mixed, mine the Vallarta. We both found the chicken dry and flavorless, and the steak tough. Mine had sausage, which was crumbled up and had no spice what so ever. Everything was just kind of blah. If you've lived in this part of the country all your life, then you might be fooled into thinking this is real Mexican food, but for a gal from a border town in Southern California this DOES NOT work for me. I should have known something was up when I saw the U.S. Foods truck making a delivery earlier in the day. My husband and I went here for dinner. I had a combo plate consisting of an enchilada, taco, beans and rice; he had a burrito. I had a sinking feeling of disappointment when I saw my taco. It was made with those hard, pre-formed shells that can be purchased at the grocery store, yuck! Use your imagination and take it from there. After a day of boating at Lake Anna my husband and I were starving. We were concerned about finding a decent restaurant in one of the small towns on our way home. We often haven't had the best of luck in finding good, clean restaurants in rural areas. But what a surprise! The food and service at Sabor was as good as it gets. Not just good for a small town, but really good for anywhere. We live in Northern Virginia where there are Mexican restaurants everywhere, both chain and independent. I will not say that this is the most authentic style top notch gourmet mexico food out there. Having said that, in a country town on the east coast, you won't find one of those. However, the food is tasty, the portions are large, and the service is great. In the town of mineral, this is a little gem. For anyone that lives there, or in the neighboring louisa va, this is finally a place you can go and have some decent food.
