Well I wish I could give a review of the food in that our order never arrived. Took over 45 minutes and never received huevos ranchero plates. I've made this at home before in a fraction of the time. Service of the kitchen is not good at all. I would prefer they tell me that they are running behind than have me sit waiting for a plate for over 45 minutes. If you have all day to have breakfast and don't mind eating your breakfast at lunch then I would recommend going there. Maybe you will get your food. read more

I have been going here for years! Irene and her husband serve traditional old school mexican food with homemade, handmade flour tortillas like my great grandmother & grandmother used to make with Manteca!!! Their Huevos Rancheros is top 3 and they know the difference between over-easy and over-medium (not many do)! All their tacos are awesome and the cheese enchiladas are spot on and you can order them at 7am! The atmosphere feels like home and the service is always spot on. The prices are so affordable. I really like this little local TexMex cafe! Besides being close to home, it features a long list of breakfast and lunch options. The Daily Special I ordered was tasty and seemed of very good quality, and their roja salsa that they bring with chips is excellent. I started working down the street again. This place has always been consistent. They also have the best FLUFFIEST tortillas around SA. I pick up orders of tacos for my coworkers atleast once a week. They were pretty slow today so food came out pretty quickly. Waitress needed to stop by a few more times to check on me. Today I had a bad experience with the crispy taco. They first brought it out with 90% potato and less than a tablespoon of ground beef. I had to send it back. Then the store bought shell was stale. I was not a fan of their rice either. Too juicy, I prefer dry and fluffy. Tried this place for the first time and it was pretty good. I tried the carne guisada tacos and they had good flavor. The tortillas were fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was nice. Kind of like an old saloon. The staff was friendly and very quick. Definitely recommend trying this place read more

My husband picked me up some breakfast tacos from Cowgirls and they were great! I got a bacon and egg on corn tortilla and a chilaquiles with cheese on flour tortilla. Driven past this place hundreds of times. Never stopped in, then covid hit, but I would make it over there now if I was y'all! I dropped in to snag some breakfast after having seen several cars there. Great cup of coffee, super hot! I had the Huevos Rancheros with a Pork Chop. It was outstanding! The Ranchera was a little spicy which was awesome. And the pork chop was seasoned so good I wanted gnaw on the bone. Everything was great and service was kind and attentive. The place is small but the breakfast tacos are large, homemade and delicious. On my way to east TX and searching for great breakfast and this stood out because of the name. Didn't want the standard or what's common. Met a regular customer outside and he told me I made a great choice and will not be disappointed. I was not. Had the b-fast tacos: Chicharron with Egg and Chorizo with egg. To wash it down I had the homemade lemonade. DELICIOUS. If ever passing thru, stop in and enjoy Cowgirls Cafe. It's not that I haven't had barbacoa or Big Red before, it's just that's what my craving was a bit after 12 noon on a Sunday. I had scoped out 3 other spots, one was closed and the other two, well you could tell they were packed. As I continued beyond my own neighborhood I pulled over another busy place but took a chance. Small little place. The line was long but I was told it was for paying and someone told me just to find a seat. The small room a few steps down was occupied by a couple, but moments after I sat in my chair, I was greeted by a waitress. She quickly took my order and soon after there they were, tacos along with a Big Red. Absolutely delicious even without the cilantro, onions, or avocadoes. The chatter and laughter in the other room was almost like being at home among family. My first time here. I'll stop again to satisfy my cravings. read more

My mother took me to this place for lunch recently, it was a nice looking restaurant with a good size menu. The food wasn't great unfortunately , I had the enchiladas and crispy tacos and it looked really good until the first bite, I had a mouth full of potatoes! So I opened the taco and it had a table spoon of actual beef and the rest was all potatoes. So I tried the enchiladas with the exact same results. Are the potatoes there to cut down cost on ground beef ? I don't know but the tacos and enchiladas shouldn't be filled with mostly potatoes. Major disappointment. I am very picky when it comes to enchiladas. For me, it's all in the chili con carne sauce. I was craving some enchiladas when I walked into the cafe, so I decided to give it a try and order some. I was not disappointed! The chili con carne sauce was delicious and had that homemade taste. The enchiladas were filled and covered with cheese. I ordered double rice, since I know I wouldn't eat the beans (I'm weird... and don't eat beans unless I'm really craving them lol). The rice was good. Our waitress gave great customer service, and continuously stopped by to see if we needed anything. I think we found our new favorite breakfast/lunch spot. read more

This restaurant, just relocated to a bigger location, same bad food ,I don't understand how they would spend so much money relocating and keep the same habits. There barbacoa was black and dry . I replaced my tortillas with heb tortillas and it helped out a little bit, those are some tough tortillas, really nice people ,but the food has got to go . read more
