I was told when you go to Vancouver you MUST have sushi just because it has that different taste and the salmon is to die for. During my stay in Whistler I ended up at this place on recommendation by my cousin. Good choice sir! :) I was surprised it wasn't that busy, but I don't mind because that means I get served faster lol . I ended up with a plain salmon roll (which was amazing) and also a Cupcake Roll. I've added a picture of it. It was so creative. Tempura potato on top of rice with an edamame on top.. Really cute. The staff are friend (as is everyone in Whistler), I honestly wish I could pick up my life in Toronto and move out there. This is a restaurant we constant go to or order take out from. Take out as in call it in and pick up your order. They instituted a bess we policy and didn't update their website to reflect this so left us hi and dry without any options. Went to call in the order and after waiting 10 minutes to get through, they said sorry out of luck. Very disappointing. Not that hard to update your website folks. read more

I visit Whistler each year with my large family. As a sushi lover this year I got really disheartened though - and as quick recommendation: you will be better off pretty much visiting any other sushi place in Whistler. It has never been 5 star place, but it was quite decent in past, though expensive (even more than Whistled peak season average). Nowadays this place has gone downhill across pretty much all dimensions. My most recent experience 1) Poor service: We went in just after opening - waited about 10 min for a table for no good reason as only people in line, no one got really interested in the customers waiting...there were ready to grab tables and a plenty of staff that could help us and was circling around not always with top priority items to deal with. This symptom of possibly poor service training and/or poor managment repeated thru-out our dinner. 2) Long wait for food: Waited 30 min for the first sushi dish to arrive. Max wait time for a sushi ordered from the card was about 70 min. I can be sympathetic and give them some lax due to being almost fully loaded 30 min after I arrived, though over 1 hour wait for a simple out of card sushi dish is far beyond reasonable. 3) Non-consistent quality of food: On positive side: good reasonably priced sake, some rolls are quite decent. Not that great: Even when you order from card the quality is unknown. It can be decent and was for some, it can be bad too. For ex: Ooro - what I ordered definitely did not taste as genuine toro, though it had toro price. Tuna was quite substandard by my subjective taste, the only salmon they have is alaskan salmon that is decent for alaskan, but not great and for a place that aspires, with top shelf prices this is quite disappointing not to serve some other, more noble salmons like King. 4) Poor service. Whatever we asked the answer was "no". No we can't create a set of 12 Sushi Nigris - you need to buy them by piece (yes by piece not by pairs), no there is no flexibility in our card etc. No we can't change your order as is being made (it was not, the service person did not bother to check it really). Pretty much some gas station sushi counter in US would probably give you a better service... Despite truly upbeat attitude we went in there, We felt like nuisance they need to deal with from the start. To sum up: Maybe no disaster but a very close call, with many systematic symptoms of place to avoid, tuned for a quick profit. In my opinion, You will be better off pretty much visiting any other sushi place in Whistler - especially for premium you need to pay in this one. read more

Wayyyyyy overpriced. Look out for the bait and switch on this one. The menu published on yelp is completely out of date. Check the main website for the prices. The food was not 'excellent' despite the insane prices. I get that whistler has had uniquely bad economic situation due to the pandemic but wow the owners should really be ensuring everything is above and beyond but the food was your average sushi eatery... if not worse than an average place in burnaby all the while, the portions were tiny! At least have huge portions if you're going this route! This place was an absolute travesty of a choice and I'll make sure to warn anyone else I know about it. Sachi Sushi is my favourite sushi place in Whistler. Like all Whistler sushi places the prices are a little steep, but at Sachi they are not outlandish. There is a diverse menu with all the typical Japanese delights you would expect and some originals. For me, the standout highlight are the Kani Blossoms: avacado wrapped in ahi tuni like a nigiri with dungeness crab on top. So good! If there are 6 or more in you party you can get a reservation. Otherwise expect to wait a little white depending on the day and time of year. Wait staff are really. If you want sushi in Whistler, check it out! read more

Glen is rude and I will be highly recommending my colleagues to never eat here due to the rude customer service I just experienced over the phone while trying to make a reservation. This was my phone conversation trying to make a dinner reservation: Me: I'd like to know if you have a 6pm time slot available for Sun., 12/27? Glen: I can only accommodate 5pm, 7pm, 9pm. Me: Do you have 6pm available for any of the days that week? We would be flexible for any day that you might have 6pm available for. Glen: [Cuts me off] So understand that if I made an exception and put you down for 6pm, my boss will hand it to me. Me: Excuse me? What do you mean by exception? Glen: If I put you down for a 6pm reservation, my boss will hand it to me. Me: I'm sorry, I don't think I understand. Glen: We only take reservations for 5pm, 7pm, 8pm and all the 7pms are booked that week. Me: So your restaurant doesn't make 6pm reservations, at all? (Asking in order to understand their reservation system) Glen: Yup. Me: [Shocked at the rude tone and short answer] OK, well, I didn't understand that was your system which is why I was asking. I guess we will just keep a 5pm reservation. Glen: [Fake Chipper tone] Great! Bye. I just thought 6pm slots were booked. I didn't think the restaurant, as protocol, didn't take 6pm reservations at all. That's what I was trying to get clarity on. Ambiance - casual, fam appropriate, busy enough for a ten minute wait with no problems on a Thursday. Seating in front of the glass prep station as well, which was entertaining to watch chefs prepare. Pricing - fair across the board in regard to rolls. Favourites - spicy chicken karaage roll and tempura roll. Although I can only comment on the cooked selections, I most definitely ate my weight in sushi. I am generally hard on sushi places: they've got to be fresh, friendly, offer standard and interesting combinations of flavours and still be decent value. For Whistler, Sachi is decent. If I were craving sushi and just had to have it, I would come here again. If it were in Vancouver there's no chance. To start, the prices were outta control for being so close to Vancouver. $3 for standard nigiri? But the $10 hot pot was the biggest disappointment. The fish tasted old and overcooked, while the broth was simply a spicy water. The bbq eel roll saved the meal; it was tasty, fresh and saucy. The tempura was crisp - and had lotus root - score! And the cold house sake was delish! Service was unsmiling yet friendly but unanticipating. 3 people, 4 rolls and just a pinch of wasabi on the table? It seemed a little cheap, if you ask me. And forgoing the offering of tea? I'm not sure if that is standard practice in the summertime, but seeing other tables around us with tea cups made me think otherwise. There are many sushi places in Whistler to choose from but this one seemed to get the most recommendations to tried it. Overall I was happy. I thought it was good, but not amazing or anything. Had the Mango roll which was very good (salmon, avocado, asparagus, mango and tuna inside the egg wrapper) Also had the Cupcakes (avocado, edamame, and sweet potato tempura) which was very good so would highly recommend both of those. Then asked our waiter for a recommendation and he brought us the roundhouse roll. This was just ok and double the price so I felt like I am been up-sold. In fact, the waiter was not very friendly and would say the service was just ok. The atmosphere is very generic so nothing added there. read more

Who would expect to find good Sushi in a Winter Mountain Resort Town? I honestly don't want to write this review because I don't want to share my secret. I don't want other people to show up and make me wait in line to have to eat at this restaurant, but I also want it to always be around when I go up to Whistler, so a review it is. Seriously, some of the best Sushi I've had on the west coast, and I've had a lot of sushi. I can't pinpoint what exactly was good about it but it just was. Best of all the chef (though a quiet man) was very friendly and even handed out some free samples to me when I asked about certain foods. (Could also be because I was there with a regular customer). He gave me some Chawanmushi (Steamed egg (Japanese Quiche)) that was a spare cup made with someone else's order. Now, I'm Japanese, I grew up with Japanese food, and I don't really like Chawanmushi. It's hard to execute well and sometimes the flavors turn out too fishy or too brothy. But as any polite person would, you don't turn down free food. And OH MY GOD. I seriously was gushing over how delicious this Chawanmushi was. Like it was so damn perfect. The only other chawanmushi that I've had that was that good was in Fukuoka Japan, and it was Fugu -chawanmushi. The thing is, if you're a roll-sushi type person you might not find this place ah-maze-ing. Its probably just good. But if you are someone that appreciates Sashimi, and other more 'authentic' Japanese foods you probably will enjoy the dishes offered at this place. I can't wait for my chance to go back. read more

On a quest to find some Japanese food we stumbled across this place. Exterior is welcoming, and a very welcoming and warm entrance. Inside you will see what feels really authentic as the sushi chefs chop and turn away in the centre of the restaurant from an extended kitchen which leads into dining floor to create that feeling. Group of three we ordered some mains and sushi for side. Pork gyoza and chicken kar-age noodle soup was ordered. Food was amazingly delicious and everything came out in somewhat decent timing. Unfortunately we had a really unenthusiastic waiter that was serving us for the night. He made us feel really uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Very blunt and no care to strike any sort of conversation. And threw us the bill at the end before us even asking for it (or to make sure we are happy/ or want to order anything else) This was a very negative experience for me based on that, and then onto the thought to tip was even less appealing. I must give Sachi four stars for the quality of their seafood. For customer service and value, I would give them three. Whistler is a tourist trap and the prices reflect this, but even a small meal will be a splurge for the average person. (Yes, their Kani Blossom is a delight, but $9 for a two-bite serving?? Really?) As for customer service, Sachi is one of the places in Whistler (there are many) who feel they have reached the level where they no longer have to TRY to gain customer satisfaction. They don't take reservations, don't open until 5:30 pm and don't offer lunch service on weekends. Huh? They know they're in the customer SERVICE industry, right? So, if you are the typical Whistler visitor who is out enjoying the outdoors all day and are cleaned up and ready for dinner around 7-7:30 pm, you will have a wait to be seated here. Originally I was going to give it 3 stars, but then I realized that I felt like throwing up basically from the truck crossing border till I got to Sachi's, and after drinking lots of green tea, water and miso soup I felt better (there might be a chance I was just dehydrated). I've been here only a handful of times over the past few years, but I've always had a good experience. It a bit out of the core of the village, but still close. I find the restaurant is well lit, not too noisy and the staff are friendly. Everything I've eaten has been very good, from the bento box for lunch or the rolls, seaweed salad or udon. It's not the cheapest place in town (that's Samurai), but it's also not the most expensive. I like good value so I come here. This place was packed right when they open at 5pm. Their round roll will cost you $20 so order at your own expense. For us who ordered sushi rolls, they were all plated on a fancy boat. Each roll is between 5-6 pieces. We can imagine this place to be more pricey because seafood is hard to sought after in a land where there's no water. The quality isn't bad but know that you can be paying slightly a premium. There's also an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill and they weren't able to split the bill for our group of 10. read more

Another great restaurant tucked behind the main stroll of Whistler Village. Although it was quite busy, we were able to get a table within a half hour. I ordered a couple sushi rolls and yam tempura. While the menu stated my yam order would contain 5 pieces ... it came with closer to 8 pieces (and I'm not complaining!). The tempura was light and not very greasy, the sushi was fresh and delicious. Came here with no expectation but really ended up loving this place The sushi was extremely fresh I had the spicy scallop roll, which had an awesome crunch, and fresh whole scallop peices The spicy tuna was very different then the type I usually have in NY, they actually don't mince the tuna, but rather keep it as a solid nice piece and add some spice to it, now I can't go back to eating the NY spicy tuna The Shrimp tempura was not greasy, but rather a bit flaky and lightly battered, which i prefer The gyoza was standard but good. And the service was very good and attentive. My fiancé and I came to Sachi Sushi for dinner on our first night in Whistler. We didn't have to wait and were seated right away. They have a decent sake selection so we ordered a bottle of cold sake to share. For food we had the Hamachi kama (which was not on the menu but we asked the server if they had it and she went to check. Lucky for us, they did!), edamame, spinach gomae, spider roll , a salmon sashimi and some nigiri. The sushi was really fresh. Quality cuts and nice presentation. The spider roll was amazing. My fiancé really liked it a lot. The Hamachi kama was seasoned and grilled perfectly. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back on our next trip to Whistler. read more

The quality of the sashimi was outstanding. I ordered the tempura shrimp and veggie appetizer, and assorted sashimi. The host and staff were very attentive, one even took the time to identify each piece of the assorted sashimi plate. The tempura came after I had finished the entire sashimi plate, and only after I enquired about it. Unfortunately one piece had a bone in it, I know that's a deal breaker for some, but I say things happen. I mentioned it to the server, who pointed it out to the chef. I would have liked an apology right there, or maybe something tasty on the house. I was given a genuine apology when I departed. I would have given it 3 stars but the "Meh. It's our third time here and everything is still tasty. So far rainbow roll is our favorite. We've also tried Haku roll, Roundhouse, urchin nigiri and a couple of other rolls. Disclaimer: we are from California, where the sushi experience is quite different. The sushi was good, as were the rolls. We also ordered chicken teriyaki for our son, which is his favorite meal. Sadly, the teriyaki sauce was on the salty and ginger side, while we are used to it being sweet. The veggies were very basic (steamed broccoli and carrots) and the chicken pretty small, considering it was pricey! Weirdly they could not make the teriyaki sauce sweeter. (I make my own, just add more brown sugar/honey!) We ended up swapping sauces to something a little sweeter and then forced our son to eat it. They were very friendly and were trying to be helpful. But the chicken teriyaki was disappointing in both price and flavor. read more

I somehow managed to get the wierdest combination of rolls for take out here. They were ok; but not amazing. The feeling i was left with was "huh, they really love their spicy mayo eh?" Spicy mayo aside, the people there were very friendly and always very busy (we were turned away twice; hence the take out as last resort) and the fish was fresh enough. Excellent sushi! Very fresh and amazing! I had many different nigiri and was impressed with the flavour of the fish. The rice in the nigiri was of perfect texture. I was impressed! Make sure you eat the various types of tuna as you really get great quality to taste the nuances in flavour and textures. The family loved the udon. They were big fans as well. 3 1/2 stars Best sushi to order is the Albacore. It is the best value on the menu and fresh tasting. It automatically has Wasabi in the sushi roll unless you request otherwise. Personally, I did not like their spider roll. It had no real crab. Overall, decent priced and okay sushi. On the plus side, you can order Tempura with 6 pieces of sweet potato tempura. read more

Although on the higher end in regards to dining out, this is a great place to eat! They have a variety of different Sushi rolls which are all really good. I also ordered a chicken karagee ramen soup and it's literally noodles and chicken, nothing else for $15 or so. It definitely could have some more additional items in the ramen but other then that I wouldn't mind coming back for the sushi. Keep in mind that during peak times the restaurant can get busy! We came between Christmas and New Years at 4:45 and was the second party lined up for dinner service at 5. Around 4:55, there were maybe 10 parties behind us.
