This is an update to my previous review. At first the problem with my Lincoln MKT HVAC system was not obvious to the staff and they did some work; R&R headlight, R&R cabin filter, charge up the Freon, and R&R one of the Actuators that was stuck, but wasn't causing the temperature rising problem. So $570.81 later, the problem was still there with the faulty HVAC module. Still, the work they did was necessary and was done well. Round two, took it back and Adam took my car over to a dealership and they confirmed my suspicion that the HVAC module was malfunctioning. Had to wait awhile to get a new unit, then Adam and his crew did the replacement and paid for the dealership he has connection with to reinstall the proprietary software for me. Great follow up, and we're very satisfied with the work they did. Well recommended, we will return. read more

Victor is a hero! My Land Rover defender was having a number of different issues, and he thoughtfully, meticulously, and patiently took care of them all. He was kind, timely, communicative, and quick. He made time for me in the busiest season, and did several tests to assure it was all working smoothly before returning it to me. Sadly, I need to update my initial 5 star review. I had always found Jack to be a bit gruff, but a good mechanic that did quality work. Unfortunately, since he moved to his new location, things have changed. First, he moved and didn't tell existing customers. I went to his old shop only to find it closed. Fortunately, he answered his phone (I was lucky), and he directed me to his new shop. I brought my expedition in for A/C service, and he put a new compressor in it, for less than what a dealer would charge. So far, so good. Then when I want to pick it up, I tried the AC and it was blowing hot air. So I left it with him and went home. Got called back a couple of days later, and was told it's good to go. Got there and was then told, sorry, it's broken again, and again was sent home. Two weeks pass. Finally, I call and tell him I need my truck back. Walk in, get the keys. I'd be lying if I said that things were by now a little strained. Then I go to Capistrano Ford to get it looked at. They refill the A/C refrigerant and pressure test the system. Good to go. Oh, by the way, Jack left off the plastic that goes over the radiator. One that manages airflow so the engine stays @ proper temperature. It goes across the top of the radiator and it's FOUR FEET LONG. So it's not exactly easy to miss. I got a new one from Ford. A year later, the truck is still blowing cold air. I don't know what's going on with Jack, but he's certainly gotten more difficult to deal with. I could tolerate that. But coupled with falling down on actually fixing the car is more than anyone should put up with. It's like paying to be abused - and I'm NOT into that. So I'd recommend that you steer clear of this shop. If the car does not come back fixed, the bill is a secondary consideration. And Jack, if you're reading this, consider some therapy. I think we'd all be happier if you did. read more

Let me start this review by pointing out I come for a long line of mechanics in my family (that gene didn't get passed to me unfortunately). I have never had anyone work on my cherished Shelby Mustang except my dad, until I moved to the west coast. When I noticed oil on my garage floor I started to make some phone calls to local mechanics as well as Ford. Ford diagnosed where they thought the leak was coming from and quoted me an astronomical price to fix it. Long story short I got Victor on the phone and we he automatically felt genuine and knowledgeable about my car concerns. My father was very protective over getting the right mechanic for the specialized car so Victor was even kind enough to FaceTime with my father and put the car on the lift to show my dad the leak so he was satisfied with the diagnosis. Once Victor completed the job, I did find some more oil- there was so much oil from the leak going unnoticed that there was one more thing he needed to replace. He was very straightforward and did right by me for having to fix it again. The cost for the repair was very reasonable, less than half of the Ford dealership. Victor even called a week later to check up on the car and make sure there were no more oil leaks! He went above and beyond to make sure the oil leak was fixed completely and you can tell he genuinely cares about his customers and his reputation. As a female I find it hard to trust mechanics because I wouldn't know if I'm being charged extra for something I may or may not need. So I kind of cringe when I have to take my car in for maintenance. Really I just want a mechanic I can trust and feel comfortable with. Recently I heard about this mechanic in Costa Mesa at Jacks Fords Only who is the real deal. He was recommended has a great auto repair shop who will not charge you an arm and a leg, and will only do the work that is needed - not all the extras. I went to check out the shop and was blown away! It is the cleanest car repair shop I have ever seen! Everything is so well organized and in its appropriate place. You hear classic rock playing in the background. The guys at the repair shop were super helpful and guaranteed their auto service to get you in and out the same day for minor auto repairs. Turns out the owner specializes in Ford, Lincoln and Mercury. And will work on classic American cars of other brands. He has been a mechanic for over 40 years and is a Army Vet that worked on helicopters. Instantly, I felt like I was in great hands and new I could trust him because my boyfriend is an Army Vet too! Less than a year later the crap cylinder they installed gave out .I took it to jack explaining to him the situation. I've been using yelp for a long time now but never wrote a review until now, I felt like this business deserves more recognition than it currently has. At first I was a bit skeptical of this shop because of how few reviews it has on Yelp, but being that I was in somewhat of an emergency and owned a Ford, I figured I'd give it a try. So I brought my car to the shop, and Jack took a look and figured out what was wrong, saying it'd cost around $500 to fix the problem. I agreed to the price and after one of his workers gave me a lift back home he realized it would cost around $1000, but decided to do me a favor and ate the costs himself on parts/labor. He said he did this because he figures that if you treat a customer right, the customer will definitely return. And I definitely agree, Jack is doing honest work at his shop, with none of that upselling you see so often at other places. I brought my car in the morning and he was able to get it fixed and running by that afternoon. In summary, I'd definitely recommend this business to anyone with a Ford looking for a mechanic in the area. read more

I can no longer recommend this place. My first experience was good. My second experience was horrible. For my 2nd experience, I came in because my engine was making a squeaking noise. As best we could, we diagnosed the issue as a pulley/belt problem. I negotiated a price with him for $180 for 1 pulley, 2 belts, and labor. His original estimate for this was much higher, I can't remember the number but somewhere in the $300 if I remember correctly. Since he had to order the parts I had to come back the next day to do the work. So next day, the installer remove the belts to begin the install. It turns out it's not the pulley that is causing the noise, but the water pump. At the time of this work, the owner was not there, just the installer. Installer informed me owner would call me later today. Installer put the belt back on the truck and I left since no new water pump is available to install. Owner calls me later that afternoon. Gives me pricing over the phone for the pump, labor, and any other parts. As I'm writing down the numbers on a piece of paper while talking to him, he begins to change the pricing on his numbers, literally. Starts out at $380 and makes it's way up to $450 for no explanation or reason. I nicely ask for clarification on the discrepancy on price. Out of no where he completely blows up on the phone and hangs up on me immediately. Just before he hung up on me, he said he was "tired of being nickled and dimed by me" and does not want to do business with me. Mind you I was simply trying to get clarification over the phone on pricing for the pump. I had placed a $100 deposit for the original $180 of work we were suppose to do. I went that day to go ask for my deposit back since he told me he does not want to to business with me. He said he didn't have the $100 and I'd have to come back tomorrow. I came back the next day and he gave me my $100. Complete lack of business professionalism from this owner. A child. Like I said, my first experience was good. 2nd was the complete opposite. I will not recommend this place nor will I ever step foot in it again. Stay away. read more

We have had a great experience at Jack's Ford Only. Problem was diagnosed properly and a fair price was offered. The Ford dealer thought it was more involved and of course more expensive! Our "Service Engine Soon" light went on while driving around on Christmas day. I wanted to get our Expedition checked before our trip to Yosemite in 2 days and now had a bigger reason to have it serviced. I knew of Ford's Only as I work near by the shop and had driven by many times. I drove in to the shop hoping that someone was in at 7:15am and was meet by Jack who noted what needed to be done, then offered to drive me to work and had all issues fixed, changed the oil, checked tire pressure, replaced a leaking vaccum line (which caused to Service Engine Light to go on) all before noon. I have found my dealer alternative who knows what he is doing and reasonable in his rates. read more

Jack is extremely rude, arrogant, and has the worst attitude towards customers that I've ever seen. When I returned my car to have him fix an overheating problem that he repaired a month before - he refused to fix it. I am so grateful to have found Jack!! I have no idea about cars so finding a trustworthy mechanic is extremely rare to find. Jack came highly recommended from a friend. I was told that he has a specific passion for Fords and doesn't believe in selling products so he focuses on customer service. I've seen Jack a few times now and can truly testify his recommendation was 100% accurate. The last trip I made was to finally fix a wiper fluid piece which prevented me from being about to use my fluids. He ordered a new piece and installed it very quickly. As he was topping off my fluids, we both notice it is literally flowing right out of my reservoir lol. Just my luck! Instead of charging me to replace the entire line, he really hooked me up and Macgyverd a fix for my little car and my fluids have been working without a hitch! Pepboys wanted to charge me $1,350 for doing some work on my car and so naturally I wanted another opinion. Jack was wonderful!!! He was able to do the same job for over $500 cheaper and even showed me the parts that he replaced and explained why they needed to be replaced. He even washed my car! I would recommend everyone out there that owns a Ford to take your vehicle to Jack before he is too overbooked to take on new clients. His experience, service and price absolutely cannot be beat! I found this place on Yelp after not having good results with the dealers. This place is awesome. I actually couldn't believe how fair the pricing is. He also installed my bug deflector, changed an interior fuse (that other places said they couldn't), and even took off my old emblems and installed some black ones I ordered online. I then had to drive 13 miles away to the closest dealer, only to have to wait every time I brought my vehicle in due to their overwhelmed service dept. so I found Jacks shop and once I brought my vehicle in I realized how business was supposed to be done all along. They are very efficient with the time it takes for tune-ups and repairs and they can usually get a service scheduled the same day. They also have very competitive pricing and an honest approach to business, only suggesting what needs to be done, not like the dealer who suggested a ton of ad on items at every visit. I own two Lincolns and a Ford and Jack's done right by me for years. I sincerely appreciate the good work, comparatively fair pricing, honesty and sincerity that's so hard to find these days. He has a nice, clean, well organized shop that's very impressive and Factory Service Manuals for virtually every car Ford makes. The work gets done on time and he saves the old parts for your physical inspection so you know what you were dealing with and provides you with a detailed parts and labor printout.....that's upfront transparency and a huge plus for me. He'll try to save you money if he can and doesn't do the "upsell" routine for unnecessary parts and services or jack up/embellish the quoted price. I personally like him and until I have a bad experience or he loses credibility, will continue to trust him with my vehicles. read more

Well I have had some problems with my Mustang. I had to replace the manifold 2 times now. The first time I had a friend who worked at Mechanical Mann in Irvine do it (actually my roommate) and it cost over $1000 and took about a week to finish. One year and a few days later, I find that it needed to be replaced again! UGH! Well I took it by Jack's he quoted me $600 ish. He had it done in about 4 hours! These guys know what they are doing. Great Service. I looked up Jack's via Yelp and saw that he was within a mile from work. I have an '03 expedition which was missing at speeds of 50-60. Jack knew right away it was a coil. He diagnosed it and replace coil #7 within 15 minutes on my lunch break. He uses genuine Ford/Motorcraft parts. Fast, great service. I will be back for sure. read more

I can't believe what I just experienced. I called to find out more about the stalling issue my F150 is having and mentioned I had done some research online as the last time I took the car it, the mechanic could not duplicate the problem and nothing was solved. The response I got when asked what causes the issue, "If I tell you I have to kill you. Why are you asking me, you're doing the research online. Good Bye" and he hung up. Yes, if you can get past his sometimes surly manners, awesome place to get just the right repair work done and no extra nonsense. Very fair price and only what needs to be done.
