Safari Run Sunnyvale is an excellent place for kids of all ages. I loved that it is so clean and that they remind the kids to wash their hands. We just went to our Grandkids joint birthday party at this location and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. John was especially wonderful with the kids, keeping their attention, keeping them entertained, and keeping an eye on everyone for safety. Maria was wonderful with the check in process and even brought a cart out to our car so we could easily bring in our cupcakes and packages. I'm a nanny, and I LOVED taking the boys I care for to Safari Run. The place is clean--there's no lingering odor of smelly socks, melted sugar, or general "eau de dirty child"--and every time I have been there, I have watched employees spot clean the play equipment with Lysol at least once an hour. Plus,, every child must wash their hands before enjoying the play equipment. And if that isn't awesome enough, did I mention that the air conditioning WORKS, the bathrooms are equally as clean as the play facilities, AND they allow outside food & drink in designated areas? Yeah, I know. What more could you ask for? Until today, I didn't think it could get any better. I'd bring the 7 year old, and let him run around for $8 an hour, while the baby & I played in the 10'x'10' "Little Cub" corner for free. It was smooth sailing...but then, to my surprise and dismay, today they charged us $16.00 for an hour of play. I asked why, and was informed that they charge ages 1-12. Bubby turned 1 in July, and I guess now it costs us $8 an hour for him to play in that exact same 10'x10' corner he was playing in 2 months ago for free. Does that seem reasonable to everyone else? Am I just being cheap? Because, I mean, this place is GREAT. It really is. But it's no Gymboree. It doesn't cater to young toddlers and new walkers. I'd NEVER come to Safari Run with Bubby alone. I would honestly rather they charge me, say, $10 an hour for the 7-year-old to play, or even an additional $4 for general access to the "Little Cubs" area with regular admission of an older child. That all seems reasonable to me. I mean, I guess, ultimately, Bubby & I ventured into the "Big Cubs" area and I huffed and puffed and carried him through the obstacles to take him down a slide twice--but ONLY because we paid $8 for him to play--not because he NEEDED to go down the big slide. He was perfectly content in his PREVIOUSLY FREE 10'x10' corner. Sadly enough, this is going to become our "super special occasion" place now rather than our "go-to" indoor play area--at least until Bubby is old enough to put that $8 to good use. read more

I wanted to take my almost 5 year old grandson somewhere to play. He travels quiet a bit and can be pretty particular about whether he'll like something. He had a blast. The place is immaculate, the kids wash their hands before entering play area. There is lots of activities, climbing, zip lining over snake pit, slides, all of which I could see him doing. There is a separate play area for little crawlers, and a larger area for the kids to play with balls, hopscotch. It was amazing. There are water fountains that the kids can use, hand washing stations (with stools). There is food and tables outside the play area that we did not visit but the entire place is immaculate and the staff is great. Definitely will recommend to friends. read more

Great place to take your 4-7 year old. I took my 6 year old son here and after a few minutes of playing in the structure, he exclaimed "I LOVE THIS PLACE!!" Pretty good for $8 an hour. An hour was enough time for my son to run around through the play structure and down the slides. The place was SUPER clean and I loved that they have sinks for the kids to wash their hands before and after playing. There is plenty of seating for the parents while the kids run around. I almost booked my son's birthday party here back in December, but I was put off by the fact that they limited the number of adults who could come to the party. It would have been too awkward to tell parents that they couldn't come to the party because there would be too many people (this is why I have docked one star). read more

I recently hosted a birthday party for my 4 year old daughter at Safari Run in Sunnyvale. It was an excellent experience for all of us. It was easy to book and communication with the staff was clear and professional with great follow up. The facilities are wonderful, well maintained and impeccably clean and the children (13 of them of mixed ages) all had an absolute blast. The play structure is clean, exciting and safe for kids of all ages and all the kids enjoyed the music (modern pop sung by kids). I love that it is not a bounce house place but a true play structure with potential for adventure. The young staff was extremely helpful and professional and engaged with the kids nicely. After an hour of play we headed into the party room where the food and cupcakes were managed really efficiently by the staff. The room is pre-decorated with fun murals and balloons and seating is separated for kids in a table down the middle and adults in nicer tables along the sides. We ordered cheese pizza for the kiddos that they really enjoyed and I brought deli platters for the adults that the staff divided up and set out on the adult tables for us. Adults and kids alike were attended to by the Safari Run team and it was a very successful and fun party for all. All the parents were impressed with the efficiency and cleanliness. If I had to come up with anything constructive its that the process is a bit rushed as parties are cranked through on a tight schedule. The other is the cost...it was not inexpensive for the time you got to spend in the facility. On one hand, its great to host a party that doesn't take the entire day and parents appreciate being in and out in 2 hours, but one hour on the play structure is not quite enough and the party room was a bit rushed with only 35 minutes. It would be great to let the kids play for 30 more minutes after the cake since every single one was ready to go back out for more! If you plan a party here its a good idea to stress to your guests that the play time is limited and that on -time arrival ensures the kids really enjoy themselves. I gave one star to this place since the only time I was actually able to get in here for 15 minutes it was fun. I tried to go here for about 6 different times. First time I found out it closes at 6pm - What kind of logic is that since you just pickup your kids at 5?? Second time I found out on weekends the place is closed for private parties. Third time I went on Fri at 5PM and guess what - it was closed. Maybe it's a nice place for parties, but generally I would not recommend going here without at least calling first. read more

Recently went to a 3-year old's birthday party and I think it was just a tad too old for this age group. I've been to parties with older kids (4-5) and the slides and climbing and fun are just perfect, but the 3 year olds had some trouble climbing up and in the structure, and many were afraid to come down the slides without parental involvement. Yes, I did climb up into the play structure *wearing a skirt* so that I could get my little one down. She was very happy, but I gave the other parents an eyeful. Not good. The party rooms are in the back, and were a good size. The wash-up area was also well-maintained. I thought the staff here was a bit less wild 'n' crazy than at some other places, but this seems to be what Safari Run is noted for--calm, kind and low-key staff members. The parking lot around the place was ginormous--no problems there. Be aware this is in a very warehouse-y district, so on the weekends, unless you're going to a party here, it is kind of deserted. read more

We had some errands to run in Sunnyvale and I was looking for a place my 1 year old and 4 year old could do together without tiring out mommy too much! As we come all the way from Danville it is quite a drive and definitely not something I would do on a regular basis but I would definitely plan a play date with some of my friends in the South Bay area here. First of all this is the cleanest indoor play area I have ever been! I have never seen such a clean facility that's catered to children! I also love the fact that every child has to wash their hands prior to entering the facility! I wished they all would do that! The climbing structure offers such a great experience to the children that you don't need adult directed activities that is offered at Pump It Up. For 8$ an hour your child gets great exercise and fun! (as well as the adults if you dare going up that thing!). My 15 months old is very active and likes to keep up with his older brother so this was perfect for both of them, but it might be not worth coming with crawlers as the infant/toddler area doesn't offer much. I wish I would closer or they would open up a branch near where I live I would definitely come more often and plan my son's birthday parties! read more

Open play here is wonderful. This is the cleanest indoor playground in the area. I really appreciate their emphasis on hand washing too. Adults have a nice lounge area with WiFi and a clear view of the kids. Kids all have a blast and burn energy. Not overly crowded. This is the easiest place to bring the kiddos. read more

What do you do with a 2 year old, who Is pent up with energy, on a rainy day? Take him/her to Safari Run!! I took my 2 year old and he loved it. This place is pretty clean and I like how they ask you to wash yours and your child's hand before using the facility. It smells and feels pretty clean, too! The slides and obstacles are loads of fun! However, since my son is not 3 years old, I had to go through the obstacles with him. My only suggestion would be that they make their "little cub" or 3 and below area bigger. The reason for the three stars is we booked a birthday party and was supposed to have 40 minutes in the pizza room but we were asked to leave early. The different wasn't that much, just 10 minutes but when the parties are so short already that really makes a difference. Celebrated my daughter's 3 year old birthday here. This is a great place to have a birthday party! It really doesn't get any easier than this. It was a totally stress free event. During the birthday party, my role was pretty much to have fun and enjoy the party! The staff took care of all the details from the minute I walked in; keeping the kids entertained, serving the food, cutting the cake and loading up my car with all the gifts and leftovers. For the first hour, the kids (and some parents!) were running throughout the play structure, climbing it, sliding down the FAST slides, playing soccer, laughing screaming and just having a great time! Some of the parents and teenagers had fun sliding down the slides, either alone or with the younger kids. Parents will have to help the smaller kids (3 years and younger) climb up the play structure, but coming down on the fast slides is a lot of fun! There is also a smaller section for toddlers with a small slide where 1-3 year olds can slide down on their own. Lots of comfortable places for the parents to sit back, watch TV, chat or use their smart phone. This place is very clean and organized. Everyone washes their hands before and after play time. It's bright, open and just clean! The lunch room was long and narrow, but as long as everyone stayed seated, then there are no major issues to deal with. It's nicely decorated, so there really is no need to spend extra money on balloons or decorations. I contracted in A New Twist (different yelp review) for balloon making and face painting. The room for that portion of the party was a bit small and almost claustrophobic. We were in there for about an hour. The food from Tasty Subs was really good. I also brought in a cake, fruit tray, veggie tray and chips. The staff at Safari Run were all pleasant and fun! It looked like they really enjoyed working there and making sure everything went smoothly. I really don't have any complaints. Came here to book a party. Exceptional service. The girl named Bevni went far and beyond to help us. Looks like an amazing place for a birthday party without thinking of any details. They think of everything for you. So you just pay and enjoy yourself with your child. They have a gym as well as rock climbing, plus there are other options if your kids are to young for rock climbing. This was one of the better birthday party venues that my daughter has been to. 1. Clean and roomy - comfortable chairs for parents to sit and watch. The structure itself is a good age for those 3-4 and up. 2. Private - only the birthday party guests are allowed in the play area during the party time 3. The room where the food and cake was held was a good size - I appreciated that there was room for parents to sit and relax as well! 4. The party host from Safari Run seemed to keep the kids' interest while the food/cake cleanup was happening by playing a game of "I Spy" with all the images in the wall mural in the eating room. The slide and climbing structure was perfect for a 6-year old party. I think this place kept the kids "playing together" than Pump It Up which is spread out more. And, definitely better than The Jungle which is not private so you never know if there are big or small kids to watch out for. I recently had my daughters 7th birthday here and it was amazing! I love the fact that the kids have to wash their hands before playing in the play area and also how we have the whole place to ourselves for the party. All the employees were so accommodating and really nice. I didn't have to worry about a thing there. The rooms were already well decorated so I didn't have to worry about decorating the room. The play area is pretty huge. They have one side for the bigger kids and another little area for the infants/toddler. And also have couches for the adults to sit down and relax while the kids run around and burn off some energy. This place also offers free WIFI which is awesome! If your looking for a place to have your child's birthday I would highly recommend it here. I think it's way better than places like rockin jump or sky high. read more

First of all this place is really clean for a kids play venue. They definitely get a 5 stars for cleanliness. There's a nice 3 sinks granite counter too by the play area for kids to wash their hands without having to go into the bathroom which I think is great! So why the 3 stars? We came here for the 10-12 open play on a Friday. We called a couple days before to make sure it is open play during those hours and the staff confirmed it. We showed up exactly 10 AM and there were 2 schools that were there. They let the first school in and told the other school and the rest of the people that showed up that no one else can go in. So the rest of the little kids had to just wait and watch other kids play (which is extremely hard for little ones to do). I'd say the place is more for at least 3 years old and older. The play structure is pretty high so the kids will have to be able to climb up to the top to use the slides. There is a small (I mean really small) play area for younger kids but it's not big enough to really entertain them for that long. Overall I think the place is ok. I like how it is extremely clean but I think it is more for older kids so if you have a child that is 3 and under it may not be worth to visit. It's extremely hard for a little kid to play here especially with all the older kids running around. I do think the owner/staff should be more organized in terms of overbooking and not booking a school when "open play" is posted. This way it will avoid parents taking time off to drive all thew ay to Safari Run and being turned away or having to wait. read more

This is a great place to let the kids out wild. They charge on an hourly basis so it's perfect if you need the kids to burn some energy before nap time. They don't open on weekends which is a bummer and close early on Fridays They have a summer promotion - they are open till 7 on Tuesday We got a punch card from Groupon and it is a good deal. They have 5 slides that are good for older tots. I would say 3-6 are the perfect ages here. Youngers have a very limited area and older kids will get bored. My daughter loves this place! Luckily, there was a livingsocial deal I found that was $40 for 10 visits; otherwise, it would have cost me $8 per visit. You pay per the hour in this place. It kind of reminds me of discovery zone when I was younger. Having a toddler, this is a great place for her to use up all her energy so that I could have her take a nap midday. (The bonus is not having to try to put her to sleep, she knocks out in the car afterwards) The structures are safe with different slides to choose from. An embarrassing fact is I sometimes have to beg my daughter to slide down the slides with me because they are so fun even for adults (who don't have to pay to have fun with their child). My 3 year old likes this place enough and I love how clean they are! You won't find this kind of clean for any children's play area anywhere else! However, I find it really hard to swallow paying full price for my 14 month old who can't even get up the structure to play... They say there's a smaller area for him but its about a 10'x10' space with not much in there. It's pathetic really compared to the structure they have. If you are going to charge the same amount for these little guys then please provide something better than what you currently have! Or here's a better solution: charge by height of the child like they do in do many other places or charge full price from 2 years+! I feel like I should only have to pay 1/2 for anyone under 2 since they are only able to enjoy so little of the area. I love Safari Run but sadly I don't love their hours. I don't think I have ever seen a place that doesn't want you to be there that they make their hours so inconvenient for you to be there. However this isn't reason for a bad review, I just want you to know if you work 9 - 5 you probably won't ever have a chance to take your kids here unless there is a holiday. Pros: 1. Great play area for kids 3 and up. 2. Nice seating for parents to sit back and watch their kids from leather sofa's where you can talk to other parents and have a good time without worrying about your children. 3. Great place for a birthday party 4. Feels very safe. You can see your children the entire time. 5. This is an hourly rate but it's an hour from when you get there not an hour on the hour type deal. No one kicked us out when our hour was up. We simply went and paid for more time when we got a chance. Cons: 1. Not great for children 1 - 2 as the price is $8.00 no matter how old the child is. 2. The hours - The hours are "When your kids in school" and "before you get off of work." Weekends are strictly for parties and holidays you need to get their early in order to get a place as they adhere to capacity laws. 3. Hard floors. If your kid falls he may hit his head on the concrete floors that are not padded. This isn't great because they require only socks which socks and slippery floors do not go well together. Other than those things this place is great. I am sure they would change their hours if they needed to but it looks like they don't. Have fun! read more

We had to cancel 4 weeks ahead of the birthday party due to emergency travel and they held hard and fast to the $150 lost deposit because 29 days notice was not 30 days notice. Went here for a birthday party. It was great experience. Positives: Large facility. Clean. Excellent customer service. There were 5-6 employees serving birthday party. They were constantly going around making sure food and drinks are refilled, for both kids and parents. Negatives: During playtime, 1 employee was doing group play with the kids. I've been to many similar indoor play places in two states, including La Petite Playhouse in Redwood City and Luv2Play in San Carlos. I really wanted to like the Sunnyvale Safari Run much more than I did. It looks like a good place for a birthday party, so we'd consider that in the future. The location is great for us, and parking has not been an issue. We've only been there twice for Open Play, including today. After 45 minutes, my 3 year old son was bored, and overwhelmed by the mobs of kids. It's a hot day, so of course it's full. There were aggressive and pushy kids, but that's common everywhere. A couple of the slides are really fun and the place was clean. The facility is just too small to be worth the visit and cost. La Petite is probably 3 times larger and costs less. I don't mind paying $13 or even much more for an indoor play date, but Safari Run is not as engaging and fun as a lot of the other places we've been to. My son has never been bored at La Petite or the other play spaces we've visited, but we were totally done after 1 hour and 15 minutes here. I believe there was only one staff member on duty. There needs to be another employee on a busy, hot day, when there were 25-30 kids, and things were getting chaotic. The age 3-and-under area is PITIFULLY SMALL and could use more toys or activities -- sorry to say! This place has potential but the 3-and-under play corners at other places have a lot more going on. I'd rather pay a lot more more to take my son to Children's Discovery Museum, or pay less to visit some of the other play spaces in the area that are much more interesting and engaging. read more

Awesome! Took my 3yo today for open play and we both had a great time. As others have mentioned, it is spotlessly clean, which is a major accomplishment in itself. A few other notes... - Abundant parking (unlike San Mateo location) - Sign-in / waiver process is easy and super efficient - Service was friendly and on top of things - Play structure is very well-designed, very safe, and in excellent condition - The theming is Disney-caliber -- meaning that, like at Disney parks, everything that is visible (including vents, pipes, utility boxes, etc) are designed and decorated to blend in with the safari theme - The slides are no joke! They are insanely, shockingly fast -- but have a nice padded landing. We were impressed! Also, $8/hr per kid seems pretty reasonable to me since they don't charge for parents, and is on par or cheaper than comparable-quality places like Play! Los Altos. read more

Fun place for kids to play indoors. They don't really have a big section for little ones that are crawling or learning how to walk. My son is five and spent about an hour running around and climbing so he could get the energy out. They have drinks and snacks for purchase but you can't eat in the play area. Must wear socks for health reasons which I like. They also ask you to wash your hands before going into the play area to keep the surfaces clean. read more

My daughter and I came here for the first time today and it was great! The lady who helped us get registered and checked in was very nice and explained how everything worked. I love the fact that us parents are allowed to go into the structures and play with our kids. My 3 year old has a couple of weeks off from preschool, and I wanted to take him someplace to burn off some energy. I took him and my 1.5 year old to see what it was all about. It was a quick registration on their computer, and then we were in. The prices were pretty fair too. It was $26 for two kids, adults free. The place is not particularly big. There is a tiny area for really small kids. I put my 1.5 year old in there. But he quickly got bored and kept climbing out and wanting to run amuck in the larger area. My 3 year had some trouble with the larger structure. It wasn't as easy for him to climb and get to the top. But he had fun running around. We went when they had the open play area from 2-5pm. We got there around 2:30, and it wasn't super busy but started to get busier after about 3:30. I was just impressed by how clean the place was. Everyone has to take their shoes off and wear socks only. And they don't force you to buy their socks either. I would take my kids back when I need to burn their energy again. read more
